My calculation, even at 0.00125 price (including fee)  the ROI through mining dividend is possible before Jan 2016 as long as the difficulty is below 10% adjustment.

January 2016?

As far as I´m concerned in this marketplace

ROI in more than 6 months is a disaster.

Investing in mining is gambling, but it has more chance to make profit this time hopefully, as long as diff is below 10% adjustment every time.

With some mining companies talking about a 10x efficiency increase on their next-gen miners and manufacturers rushing to sell cloud hashing faster than they can take down and ship their current gen farms, you'd have to be pretty new to the game to think any contract with a fixed hashrate is a good idea.

On a brighter note, we finally got a response from Phasebird regarding RMAing our defective units! Now I have to figure out how much shipping to Hong Kong from the USA is and whether it's worth the expense!

Yes, because it's totally fair to ship faulty equipment to your customers and then tell them they need to pay to ship it back due to not taking the time to test before shipping.  I don't know how much it would cost to ship these back to Hong Kong or how long it would take to get them back, but I do know that any hope of ROI for me is long gone.  At this point, I think it may be best to just take the loss and not continue wasting time troubleshooting as well as throwing good money after bad.  I know from the lack of responses, that is what asicminer wants to see.
16443  Economy / Services / Re: [NastyFans] [Lowest Paid Signature] Earn NastyPool Lotto Tickets on: November 25, 2014, 03:26:53 PM
Well, my rank isn't high enough for my sig to look nice, but I'm wondering if its still eligible for the campaign. (I'm active-ish on btctalk and I do own a seat.)

Also, what exactly is the lottery ticket "prize"? I don't really care--I just want to support a non-scam sig campaign. Still, I'm curious.

Ya, you're eligible.  Smiley

The lottery ticket "prize" will be a small amount of BTC.  We are planning to use the lottery as a way to reward miners with >100% payouts.  I also wanted to share the lotto tickets with folks who help advertise via this campaign, but a majority of the lotto tickets will be given to miners or bought on the auction (whenever one is created).  That is why I saw this is the lowest paying signature campaign.  It is mostly just a way to give back something to those who were already promoting NastyFans as a thank you.

This company flat out sucks for end users...they can't not even be bothered to reply to emails.

I agree and am very disappointed with my Prisma.  I've been troubleshooting it for weeks and trying different methods to get it to run (windows, linux, usb, controller, etc...).  As of right now, 2 of the 4 boards give off nothing but errors, 1 of the boards is completely dead due to arriving with missing parts, and 1 works.  I can't get any response from asicminer and my group buy seller told me to deal with them and won't accept a return.  My advice, if you insist on buying one of these, make sure you do it with a method that can be charged back in the event you receive a non-functional miner and whoever sold it to you is unwilling to make it right.
16445  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 24, 2014, 07:57:10 PM
I'm still trying to understand the pseudo shares.  If they're just busy work to make stats look good, and I don't care about what my stats look like, do I need them at all?  Seems like the busy work would generate unnecessary heat for my miners?  What happens if I set the pseudo share difficulty to some really high number?  How can I see what real work my miners are doing?

Pseudo shares are just for stats and they will not effect your earnings in any way, nor will they generate heat or additional work for your miners.  Only P2Pool shares matter.  Since P2Pool shares are much higher difficulty than a typical pool's shares, that causes quite a bit of variance on payouts and makes estimating your "real work" (actual hashrate) difficult.  Again, these problems are magnified for smaller miners and that is why the NastyPoP payout system was created.  If you'd like a visual representation of how often you could expect P2Pool shares to be accepted based on different hashrates, you can see in the NastyPool miner charts just how often miners submit an accepted P2Pool share by the green lines on the charts.  You can see it is currently quite common for someone with 1TH/s to go a day or more without submitting an accepted P2Pool share.

they have a class action lawsuit against them so I would be very cautious about buying anything or putting any money into this company.

I received an email from them telling me that there would soon be an update on the class action lawsuit.

You can see all the data here: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

I'm actually surprised to see that we're currently set for a drop in 11 days.  You'd think people would be running at a loss just for the heat this time of year.  2014 is starting to feel a lot like 2011 did.

16456  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC and BF] MININGCO.ETF - Closing on: November 21, 2014, 08:51:32 PM
Did I ignore the advice of a few people who were mad that they didn't have the luck with BFL that we had with the SC line?  Yes.  Were they the majority?  No.

It is a shame that this fund is trying to liquidate during a time of downward pressure on the price, but I would be open to reaching a swap deal of some kind if shareholders of this ETF had a desire to become pure NastyFans seat owners.

Did you miss the example of how Avalon's first customers made out great while everyone after them got screwed?

Your optimistic BFL position was most certainly an opinion in the minority, and you deleted contrary posts that turned out to be correct.

Regardless, I'm glad you and the Fans are having a good time in all this turmoil.  And thanks for offering to work with the ETF, although it's clear Carnth won't do anything except a simple liquidation and final distribution.   Cool

I did not order from Avalon so I guess I did miss out on that experience.

I have never deleted a single contrary post from my thread.  It isn't self-moderated, so it would be impossible for me to do so.  I'm not sure why you would falsely accuse me of that or claim that NastyFans opposed to BFL at the time we ordered were the majority, as both statements are incorrect.

I have made a private proposal to Carnth that I think would benefit current ETF holders more than a simple liquidation and includes a mixture of BTC and NastyFans seats.  I think having Carnth manually liquidate everything would be time consuming for him, open the door for manual errors, destructive to the underlying assets, and would force ETF holders to fire sale their remaining assets instead of continuing to be investors in the underlying assets.  Anyway, I just thought I'd offer to help get shareholders back in the game.  Liquidation is certainly an option and I am also willing to purchase the remaining assets of the fund to initiate that process.
16457  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC and BF] MININGCO.ETF - Closing on: November 21, 2014, 07:10:14 PM
Og screwed his fans by ignoring the advice of and calling those who warned him about BFL 'trolls.'  It will never recover from the debts owed.

After reading this, I felt compelled to respond.  Firstly, I did not screw my fans by ignoring advice.  At the time we had one of the first Monarch orders.  After making a killing on placing the first SingleSC order, it seemed like a no brainer.  Had I known Bitcoin was about to jump 10x in price, BFL was lying about their timeline, or that they had back alley deals to put their partners ahead of their customers on the Monarch batch, I would have acted differently.  In hindsight, was it a mistake?  Yes.  However, I made the best decision with the information available at the time.  That is all anyone can ever do.  Did I ignore the advice of a few people who were mad that they didn't have the luck with BFL that we had with the SC line?  Yes.  Were they the majority?  No.  We were making a ton of BTC off that purchase and most of the fans I talked to were quite excited about our Monarch orders pre-Novemeber of 2013.  Once it was realized that BFL was missing date after date, the BTC price had risen so much, asking for a refund would have been a sure loss at every moment from then until now.  While I did break down and ask for a 50% refund as BTC dropped below $400, the FTC threw a monkey wrench in the plan and we are now forced to sit and wait for the government to give us our money back.  Saying we will never recover is underestimating myself and nonnakip a great deal.  This Bitcoin adventure to us is not about maximizing profits today.  It is about building something great in the most turbulent environment that will stand up to the test of time.  Even if our mining operation went bankrupt, we would have NastyPool and our Minted Seats as potential BTC sources.  Not to mention we are always working on new secure services.  Thinking that NastyFans is only about mining is very short term thinking.

Good news: Og has found Fans to buy his debt.

This is not the most accurate statement.  I reached an equity swap agreement with NastyMining debtholders to clear the debt.  This caused new seats to be created which then flooded the market due to debtholders using their newfound equity to recover some of their lost BTC.  That of course caused downward pressure on the seat price.  It is a shame that this fund is trying to liquidate during a time of downward pressure on the price, but I would be open to reaching a swap deal of some kind if shareholders of this ETF had a desire to become pure NastyFans seat owners.

16459  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 21, 2014, 02:10:06 AM
I looked at your pool way back but couldn't see how i could use it since all memberships were filled and you had to be a member to mine on it apparently. Nasty always to me seemed a boys club that only the privileged are given access to so I gave up on it.

It isn't my pool, but NastyPool has always operated as a default p2pool node with 0% fee.  You don't need to own a NastyFans seat to mine on it or see your stats, even now with the new -PPS option.  If you did want the benefits of owning a NastyFans seat, they can be purchased currently for ~0.01 BTC.  That's hardly a boys club that only privileged are given access to.  I'm sorry you feel that way.

I just prefer to see what code I'm using, as do most others  Wink

Fair enough, although you wouldn't be the one executing the code so even seeing it wouldn't be proof enough for you to switch to NastyPool.  Independent testing would be the only thing that would convince we are truly operating fairly with a 0% fee.
16460  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 20, 2014, 10:02:47 PM
Gotcha. So he made the changes on git I presume - can you ask him to post a link to it?

Thanks  Smiley

No.  I don't believe any changes were made or are planned to be made on git.  It is a separate payout system developed for NastyPool that is written in a different computer language (C vs Python).

Are there plans to open source that code and allow others to use it on their nodes?

I find it interesting that all of the communications I've received so far are asking if there are plans to give this development away, but nobody has even tried mining on our node with it yet.   Undecided
