1661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing looses Vs Finding closure: Any difference? on: March 26, 2023, 08:23:16 PM
This is something that make gamblers incur so much losses. Continuously gambling in the hopes of winning to get your money back is just a perfect way of playing till you no longer have any money left to gamble with. When you've gambled to a certain points and you see that you're just losing, its best you just cut your losses and move on. Don't listen to the tiny little voices that will be telling you things like "you might hit the jackpot in the next round". "why are you giving up now".
There's nothing like closure when you've lost money, You'll just be playing out of desperation and confusion.
1662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 26, 2023, 08:10:47 PM
It seems like it would be too soon for Tottenham to sack Conte, but if Tottenham have reasons not to be cornered by another club then it might be a good decision to make a quick decision too. But yes, if Tottenham do sack Conte then the risk will always be there, because Nagelsmann is the new coach and to manage a Tottenham team that is basically fighting for a place in the top four of the Premier League is a tough job.

Because anyway, it would be more appropriate if the reshuffle happened for the new season and for this season, I think Tottenham would be better off keeping Conte until the end of the season. But if this rumor goes for Chelsea to replace Potter then I think that would be more appropriate.

I don't think Tottemham would be making a mistake now if they fire Conte now and hire Nagelsmann. We saw how Nagelsmann handled Hoffenheim and he wasn't bad at Bayern either, He's a good coach that loves progressive football. Even if they wont hire him now, they can have a verbal agreement with him so they can secure his signature. Teams like Chelsea are on the look out for a coach because if Chelsea finishes the season with nothing then Potter would most likely be fired.
Aside the fact that Tottenham are not playing very well right now, Conte seems to already have too many problems with the people in the club and some of his players. There's bad vibes between them. I may be wrong but if I'm right hell definitely leave at the end of the season, that's if he makes it that far.
1663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: March 26, 2023, 12:40:21 PM
With Copa del Roy second leg match is also coming which is also important even they already lost their first leg match at home but still they can do few better things in second leg match which can give them place into final.

The chances of Madrid winning the second leg of the Copa del Rey keeps increasing with the amount of Barca players that are getting injured. Pedri, Dembele and Christensen might all miss the second leg on the 5th of April. Pedri and Dembele had a relapse in their injury while Christensen got injured during this international break. Frenkie and Araujo also missed the international break due to slight injuries. They will not miss the Copa de rey match but they might not be a 100% for the game. I would have said Barcelona has the advantage of playing at home but history has thought us that there's no home advantage in el classico.
Another bad news for Barcelona is that Vinicuis might be available for the match. Initially I thought he would miss the match because he had a yellow card accumulation but I guess the rules are different in the cup.
1664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sports betting - football/soccer on: March 26, 2023, 06:19:03 AM
but what I am trying to emphasize is the fact that sports betting after a certain degree of experience is not gambling anymore.

I don't understand what you mean by this.
Sports betting will always be gimbling no matter the amount of experience you have. Gambling is simply playing a game of chance for money. No matter how experienced in football and gambling is you can never predict the outcome a game at all time. Its always a game of chance to a certain degree. You just predict a certain game based on your understanding of the game (this is were the experience comes in) but yo still need a certain degree of luck.  So I would like to understand how you mean when you say  "sports betting after a certain degree of experience is not gambling anymore".
1665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 QUALIFIERS. on: March 25, 2023, 10:25:17 PM
Sincerely I do not see Nigeria qualifying for the African Cup of nations with this poor performance. I don't even know if the team is getting better or declining yearly. We have one of the best quality if you want to rate the squad but our performance is a mess, I really don't see the Super eagles qualifying except they improve along the way but with this level of performance, there’s no way that’s going to happen. When do you guys think we are going to have our glory days once again?

I wont even be surprised if the Super Eagles don't qualify. They've always had quality player but they've never been able to play good football. With the kind of players Nigeria have, they shouldn't be struggling against teams like Guinea Bissau. I think the problem is from the management of the team. And this goes on to all African teams. These teams are poorly managed with a poorly managed local league. African teams have to change their ideology of football. They have to learn to become very technical not just physical. They have to learn to play good football, play like professionals. There are some African teams that play well like Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria but overall, African teams are not impressive and Nigeria is one of those teams that always disappoints with both results and poor performance.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: March 25, 2023, 09:56:09 PM
La Liga is the first goal and main target for Xavi in Barcelona and they are not going to lose this chance obviously because they are near to getting the title and their traditional and main competitor Real Madrid is far from them with 12 points difference. Barcelona's second target can Copa del Rey when they have to beat Real Madrid again, but currently, they won't lose the chance to take the title in La Liga.

Barcelona were really unlucky the way they were knocked out of the UCL. They had very serious fixtures in a very difficult time. The fixtures came when all of their defenders were out injured. They deserved to win Inter Milan and they should also have won Bayern. Same thing happened in the Europa league against man united. Take nothing away from Man United but they were lucky Barcelona were not with their complete squad.

As for the league they have put in their best and tried to be consistent even when they had players out injured. They fought a hard fight to be able to give their eternal rivals a 12 points gap.
The copa del rey second leg is the tricky one. A lot of Barca players are getting injured again and they will miss the second leg against Madrid. Madrid might take advantage of that and hurt Barcelona.
1667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 25, 2023, 03:41:46 PM
To be honest, I see more that there is internal discord within Bayern, whether it's with club officials, or problems in the locker room. But the problem is whether Tuchel can make Bayern instantly become a stronger team. interesting, so let's wait.

Bayern took a lot of risk sacking their coach mid season. Bayern were not doing very badly with Julian Nagelsmann, they just weren't doing as well as they did under Flick. Bringing Tuchel is another big risk. I also don't think he will do better than Nagelsmann. Tuchel is a good coach but I just don't see him succeeding in the long run at Bayern. He doesn't play the kind of football that Bayern plays. He's more defensive and attacks when he has a chance. Bayern like attacking at all time and if Tuchel's team attack at all times they will be vulnerable at the back. It will be very interesting to see how Tuchel's Bayern play.
1668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 25, 2023, 10:47:48 AM
Both teams both want to aim for three points to achieve their respective targets. Manchester City certainly don't want to lose their momentum at the Etihad Stadium. Three points is an absolute thing to catch Arsenal at the top of the standings. Meanwhile, Liverpool, even with their inconsistent appearance, will still try their best to bring home points. Even though the chances are a bit thin, Liverpool still carries the mission of winning the top four positions. In that match I also favored Manchester City to come out victorious.

I'd bet on Man City but its a 50/50 game. These kind of matches don't usually go in the way of the player that is in more form. Man City are in a better form but it doesn't mean they'll definitely win Liverpool. We saw how Liverpool ripped Man United apart although I don't think they can do the same to Man City. Man City needs the three points if they want to keep their title race alive because if they don't win then Arsenal wound have taken a very big step closer to the epl title. Liverpool too needs the win to keep their hopes of playing champions league football alive. So despite Man City being the better team at the moment, Liverpool is not going to be a push over for them.
1669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 25, 2023, 08:48:37 AM
The Serie A league has indeed become competitive again, different from Napoli, it is difficult to reach, only in table 2 to the bottom, which has the potential to fight for qualification for the champions league.

There is a strong competition at every point of the Serie A except for the top of the table spot. Napoli are on a league of their own this season. They're miles ahead of the rest and are unstoppable right now. But that does not reduce the competition of the league in anyway. Only four points separates the second position from the fourth. I also have to give it to Lazio. They've been impressive for past couple of seasons but this time around they're doing really good. While Milan and Inter were been inconsistent and while Juventus were getting 15 points deducted from them, Lazio has been using that opportunity to claim up the ladder and overtake all of them. They've been inconsistent in other competitions like the conference league and Coppa Italia but in the league they've kept their heads up and are now in second position with two points ahead of Inter Milan and four points ahead of AC Milan, Five ahead of Roma.
I am so excited to see how this race ends.
1670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 23, 2023, 09:32:19 PM
I am actually interested to see if Harry Kane actually makes an effort to play for the Real Madrid squad, especially after the sacking of his coach. We all know that Tottenham is not in the best situation right now. So it is not going to be surprised if Harry Kane tries to push a move with Real Madrid.

It is absolutely true that Mbappe did choose money over his dream club when it counted. So there is no certainty that he's not going to do that again. And I wonder if Real Madrid wants to bring a player like that who is not true to his word and breaks commitment.

I would really like to see Harry Kane play for Real Madrid. He's a great striker and among the best in his position so he deserves a top team like Madrid but like I've always said that is almost impossible. Aside the fact that Madrid have to convince the player to leave England and come play for Madrid, I don't think Spurs would let him go. If Kane actually want to joins Madrid then he has to force a move out of Tottenham.

As for Mbappe I believe he will still make it to Madrid. Don't make it look like he did what other players haven't done before. Everybody is only looking after themselves including Madrid. Mbappe made a decision that seemed the best for him at the time, everybody has to accept that. He owes Madrid nothing. He is not under contract, there was not even a verbal agreement between Mbappe and Real Madrid, so him deciding to remain at PSG is what every player does.
1671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: March 23, 2023, 12:17:40 PM
I think the French will be the favorites of every tournament, especially after the last world cup.  They have a very good squad and they have the power to win most of the matches they play with this squad.  A serious preparation phase will be required for Germany.  The players are very high quality, there is no doubt about it, but they will have to play a friendly match in every period in order to achieve harmony within the team.

The France team is a really fearful team. They got to the final of the world cup without two of their most crucial midfielders; Pogba and Kante. However badly Pogba is for his club side, he's always at top level when playing for France. If both Pogba and Kante can stay fully fit and in top form till the Euros then France is going to be an even better team.

As for Germany, I can't really tell what their problem is. They have the squad and they played really well during the world cup. I believe if they progressed out of the group stage in the last world cup they would have gone really far. For me I think they were just unlucky or over confident. They underrated Japan too.
Like you said, they have to play a lot of matches together for them to get harmony in their style of play.
1672  Economy / Economics / Re: Do your work. on: March 22, 2023, 10:02:44 PM
The title "Do your work" refers to growing your own business. We all have some skills in different sectors and we use all of our energy to work for a company and get a monthly salary. But we are not supposed to work for that company till death. so how will we bear our living expenses after retirement? Most people do not think about that.

Not everybody will have their own business. Not everybody will be an entrepreneur. Your goals and dreams are different from that of the next person and that's fine. So there's no point making people feel less ambitious of about themselves. There's is something called a "career" and many people would like to build theirs. People gather skills and experience over time and keep growing in whatever they do and in whatever company they work in. I have met an entrepreneur that's regrets starting a business because it got too complicated. So just do what what works for you.
1673  Economy / Economics / Re: Has anyone felt lost in pursuit of financial freedom ? on: March 22, 2023, 09:41:04 PM
Things do not come for free. You have to make an effort in order to get a result, and therefore the rate of that is what gets you to the result.
Financial freedom is a dream and you need to stop yourself for a period of two to 5 years to achieve that dream. You must reduce relationships and stop many of the things you love in order to achieve this dream.

After 5 years you can live a normal life. Therefore, the feeling of loss must be temporary, otherwise it will be harmful.

I don't think its as easy as that. Stopping yourself for a period of two to five years won't help you achieve your dream of financial freedom. If it were that easy everybody would do it. Avoiding relationships and stopping many of the things you love is exactly the reason you get lost in the pursuit of financial freedom. While you pursuit financial freedom, try to live a normal life, have a life. Enjoy the moment. I don't believe in order for you achieve financial freedom then you wont have a life.
1674  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading good for beginners? on: March 22, 2023, 07:12:14 PM
Someone met me and we were had a conversation on trade and he told me that he has used all he has been saving for trading and asked me if he can make something out of it and I asked him if he had any knowledge about it and he said no.

My question is can someone that doesn't have any knowledge about trading and how the system work can he or she trade and be profitable in it? Since at some points it has some compliments bof luck.
After some time of discussion, he has been told that it's just for them to choose on the candles sticks if it's up the they want to choose or the one going up just with this idea can they trade with such an idea.
so I wan to know if it's right for the person to begin trading?

This is definitely a NO. You need have a thorough understanding of how things work before you begin trading. I don't believe in luck when it comes to trading. Yea, I know you can get lucky at some point but even that luck won't save a beginner that has no knowledge of trading. If that's the strategy then you'll lose all your money in a second. It's not like gambling where you can get lucky. I haven't met that much traders but I've met a few and I've none of them operates on just luck.
So advice that someone to take his time and learn trading from the very beginning, that is if he has the interest to be a trader. He needs to learn and understand the nitty gritty of trading (any kind of trading, be it crypto, forex, stock) before he can venture into it.
1675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is ageing and old people part of bitcoin? on: March 22, 2023, 06:49:05 PM
There is also this reason why it's not good to persuade older people to invest. I have also seen lots of people in their 40's who are against investment and are still living at the moment or in the middle of still enjoying their lives, but I have also ask some local neighbors with age range of 55 and up about investment, and one thing they regretted is not investing while they're still young.

So, in hindsight age really doesn't matter in terms of investment, it only varies from person to person what is their perspective when it comes to investment and the word that persuading people either young or old will come in.

It's all depends on their perspective and level of exposure. There are people that are conservative about investing, they are skeptical of everything which is kind of a good thing but it hinders them from making bold choices. A lot of them regret it later on in life and wish they had invested. People that are open minded who are always open to new ideas tend to invest more. It's a risky way to live but life is a risk. You can't break out of your comfort zone and go higher if risks are not taken. The thing is, while persuading people to invest, young or old, also advice them to be smart about it.
1676  Economy / Economics / Re: Can I take a loan to invest in bitcoin? on: March 22, 2023, 11:36:57 AM
My advice is the same with your advice. I don't like loans. I don't like borrowing money. I'm not comfortable knowing that I owe somebody a certain amount. But, who knows, if ever a time comes that I will have to borrow money, I might. However, it will never be for the sake of investment. It might be due to emergencies.

But if somebody is to borrow money for the sake of investment, Bitcoin is a better choice especially in the middle of a bear season and if it is for long-term hodling.

Borrowing for investment is the best form of borrowing. Its way better than borrowing for consumption. The only way you can borrow for consumption and it becomes okay is if it's an emergency. That being said, I wouldn't advice someone to borrow and invest in bitcoin. If you must then you need to ask yourself a couple questions like "how much do you know about bitcoin", "if the investment fails how badly will you be affected to pay back the loan". It's in a bid to avoid all these unhealthy scenarios that the term "invest what you can afford to lose" came about. Bitcoin can be a very tricky investment so you don't just go into it because everyone else is, take your time, learn, start small, lose little monies in the process, become and expert first before you can even think of investing big not to talk of taking a loan.
1677  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you survived during covid19 ? on: March 21, 2023, 09:10:23 PM
I don't think anyone would love to relive the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic because during that period, we got to see  a lot of sufferings. Some, due to lack died and in where I come from, it was tagged as the resultant effects of COVID and painfully, numbers which where not there were added just so that funds could be siphoned to their pockets.
Well, according to your topic, you should have shared how you survived the pandemic. But here's mine though:
At least it was foodstuffs that was the major thing in short supply,( as peeps refused to fall sick anymore);we were able to stock the house with canned goods and some dried goods that could last for a long period of time before the whole thing got severe.

The Covid period was a disaster. A lot of people lost their jobs and their source of income. Every body was living in constant fear, always suspicious of the next person. Then there were the conspiracy theories. I think this made it even worst. Some people were so creative about the theories that it looked so trues and that made it even more scary.
Part of me blames the government for the escalation. They did what they always did when they're faced with situations the don't fully understand and cant kill; they ignore it and just make their citizens believe they got everything under control when in truth, they have nothing under control. Instead of the world to come together and find a solution we were busy pointing fingers at each and looking for who to blame. We were all scared so I get it.
1678  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: March 21, 2023, 08:43:04 PM
Talking about sanctions, did sanctions stop Iran? North Korea? Venezuela? The answer is no. Did sanctions stop Putin? No. Will they? Most probably not. That's all we need to know about sanctions - they don't work.

All of these countries were greatly affected negatively by these sanctions. You cant talk about countries that sanctions had no effects on and mention Iran and North Korea. At first sanctions on north Korea where more focused on trade ban of weapons related materials but the sanctions were later expanded to luxury goods and it got stricter when the sanctions involved banking transactions, financial assets, and general travel and trade. And at this point you have to be purposefully lying to yourself if you believe sanctions did not work on North Korea.
Russia have not been able to fully conquer Ukraine not just because of the passive involvement of the US and NATO but because they have been restricted a lot by sanctions that they cant fuel their war efforts as much as they would like to. Don't be deceived by the bold and fearless face these tyrant put up, deep down he knows his country is in a lot of trouble. My only problem with sanctions is that they don't affect these heartless rulers directly but the country as a whole, causing a lot of trouble for the ordinary citizens of that country.
1679  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon reports its first unprofitable year since 2014 on: March 21, 2023, 12:18:53 PM
It's unfortunate that a giant like Amazon had to face financial losses. So it's probably the best time to buy Amazon stocks. It's already down by 35% in the last one year and trading at a very attractive level. If someone wants to play long term, probably this is the time to buy.

Amazon's business is robust but due to the ongoing recession, they are seeing less demand for their cloud services. Also there are multiple competitors available in the market which wasn't the case couple of years back.

My personal feelings is Amazon will come back for sure, but just needs to have patience. Corporates make wrong investment decisions too just like any retail investors..

Its nothing new. Large corporations like this make losses all the time. I think that's a difference between them and a small business. If a small business makes that kind of loss they will be in big trouble but since its Amazon, its seen as a huddle that can be dealt with.
Buying the stock when they're down seems like a good investment because the stocks of a company like Amazon will most likely go up but like you said, it has to be the long run strategy because I don't think it will be going up at a fast rate, I may be wrong.
1680  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You Learn More from Losses than from Wins on: March 21, 2023, 11:32:50 AM
People learn more from losses that win but it shouldn't be so. You cant just learn from only your losses, there are also a lot of things to learn from wins. It is not wise to only learn or mostly learn from losses. So what happens when you learn from the loss and do things right next time and the wins starts pouring it? Does that means you stop learning? As a human, in whatever you do, not just in trading, try to learn from every single situation; loss or win, learn from it.
