1661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: S/HDD FOR Bitcoin Core on: July 29, 2019, 05:41:15 PM
I can't recommend you any SSD without knowing your budget, computer specs and desired capacity. SSDs can utilize either SATA ports or m.2 slots. m.2 SSDs can either use SATA III or PCIe for data transfer. The latter is significantly faster.

If you don't have much money then you can buy a small SATA SSD (256 GB) for the operating system, programs and Bitcoin Core. You don't have to keep blocks database on the SSD. Leaving the chainstate (~4 GB) on it should speed up a node a little.
1662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin core qt only use 1 core on cpu on: July 29, 2019, 04:56:29 PM
the cpu is fx8300  and only 1 core is working

Your CPU performance seems to about the same as mine, so it shouldn't be a problem. How much RAM do you have?

its  not a hdd problem

hdd usage is 10-20%

Don't trust Windows Task Manager. Bitcoin Core will never use 100% of your HDD. The initial sync takes less time on SSDs since they have lower access times. I would recommend you getting a small SSD for the OS, programs and the chainstate.
1663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Raspberry Pi 4 performance on: July 29, 2019, 04:21:48 PM
So I second OP request to know more on validating/syncing blockcahin.

The author of the tweet I mentioned earlier still hasn't posted the results yet.

Re:SSD, in my experience they are not meant to be used as a constant R/W devices like an hard disk, so I have been told their use as mass storage is not optimal and quite prone to errors and data corruption.

That's how I would describe SD cards. SSDs improved a lot in the past few years. They have become affordable and reliable. Some SSDs last longer than advertised, but every device is prone to failure at some point. Why would anyone use them if they were not meant to be used for constant reads and writes?
1664  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Mother of god: My Electrum default_wallet file is corrupted. HELP on: July 29, 2019, 07:58:17 AM
Its so strange, when i right click on my default_wallet file and reads more info, it just stands its a ”file”, but when i do the same on a wallet file i just created it stands its a ”.dat-file”

I have misread your previous message. The file was not modified. Electrum wallets files don't have any extension (simply default_wallet) while Bitcoin Core generates wallet.dat file. It's no use in trying to access it through Bitcoin Core; it won't work. What message do you get when you load it into Electrum?

There is no need to call me sir.
1665  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Mother of god: My Electrum default_wallet file is corrupted. HELP on: July 29, 2019, 07:28:20 AM
My idea is that file may have somehow been saved in another file format when I uploaded it in dropbox, to do so is since I uploaded the file that it suddenly became corrupt. I also wonder if it should only be called default_wallet and not wallet.dat? I currently have a "file" and not a dat file.

wallet.dat is a type of wallet file created by Bitcoin Core. What kind of message did you get when you tried opening your wallet with it? Are you completely sure that you have uploaded the correct file? I doubt that Dropbox changed the file's extension on its own. Anyway, it might sound stupidly easy but why don't you try copying that file and removing .dat extension? I'm 100% sure that it won't work. Did you use any other wallet than Electrum? Edit: Misread the quote. I thought he had .dat file.
1666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin core qt only use 1 core on cpu on: July 28, 2019, 09:08:42 PM
hello i have a 8 core cpu
but bitcoin core use only 1 thread, cpu load is 12%  and so it s very slow

What CPU do you have? There may be a few things about your setup that can be a bottleneck. Using an SSD instead of a HDD makes a huge difference. Also, disabling any kind of antivirus software helps a lot. After I have disabled a real time protection in Windows Defender, the 'progress increase per hour' immediately rose from 0.10% to 12% and the CPU usage peaked at 30% instead of 14%.

FYI, I have an Intel i5-6600k and use Corsair's 1TB NVMe drive.
1667  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Tether(USDT) Trezor on: July 28, 2019, 07:37:43 PM
Tell me, but rather share a link to the guide how to get a coin Tether(USDT) in your wallet.

According to this page, you can access your Tether account through Trezor Beta Wallet. It is listed as an ERC20 token so you will have to switch to Ethereum wallet. You can also use MyEtherWallet.

Also interested in the question about the coins in different blockchains, if I send from the throne to Ethereum or Bitcoin coins come? Wallet address in all networks one?

Most blockchains have different addresses. They are not cross-compatible. Your Ethereum address will be significantly different than your Bitcoin one. Some Bitcoin forks introduced their own address formats but they still support Bitcoin ones (e.g. Bitcoin Cash). Coins sent on Ethereum network to a Bitcoin address will be lost (burned).

1671  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP!!Sent coin to electrum wallet receive address, never received. on: July 27, 2019, 08:34:43 PM
My funds are not in the wallet I sent them from.

That's not possible. Can you share the transaction id with us? The destination address doesn't really help much. None of the blockexplorers we have tried showed an incoming transaction. From what wallet did you send the transaction?
1672  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: July 27, 2019, 08:05:16 PM

Lightning Network will not work, have you tried Lightning Labs APP?

I have used a few Lightning Network clients and so far I didn't have any problems. This includes LND which is also developed by Lightning Labs.

Its a SCAM, they took my money and dont give it back, its impossible to take the money out to a normal onchain address, the money i can spend in LN its much less than i put in part of the money stays freezed in chanels and we cant even receive money, they say we can only waste in online games, but they dont show where and any LN transactions for another user dont work!

You can close that channel forcefully even if the other party is not responding. Usually, you have to wait one day before the closing transaction will be broadcast. As for receiving money, take a look here. Did you even bother to make some research?

I complaint in support twitter, they answer one time evasively and now dont care about it.

Link or it didn't happen.

LN will never be solution, Satoshi said that onchain transactions will support miners in the future, with LN there is no fees for the real miners that support blockchain, with time the fee of one ON-CHAIN transaction will be huge.

Miners still need to mine transactions which are broadcast when channels are funded and settled.

LN will have low fees but On-Chain will have a impossible fee to pay and who will rule the LN chanels will be the same as banks, we are not in control of our money!

You don't have to connect to large HUBs. You can open a channel directly to merchant's node. You won't be charged anything for each transaction.

We need to think about a scalling solution that splits the blocks in blockchain groups, like group A, B, C and so on, that number of groups will be bigger with the number of nodes running, that way the size of block will be always 1MB by node, node type A, node type B and so on, they could be splitted in many 1 MB parts of a block an tested online like SPV wallets.

Congratulations! You have just invented sharding.
1673  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger S Nano: "Bitcoin and Ethereum apps required" error message...? on: July 27, 2019, 07:14:01 PM
Anyone know how to get past this or why this is an issue?

Try removing all apps and installing them in the following order: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin. Both Ethereum and Bitcoin apps need to be updated to the latest version.
1674  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How can I log in or contact Poloniex when I forget 2FA? on: July 27, 2019, 11:58:36 AM
There was just a circle FAQ only. The circle question mark on right upper side of screen in (https://poloniex.com/support/) didn't work out as well.

Enter that website again and click on 'Contact Support' which is underlined. On the right, a new windows should appear. Select 'Account Access -> I need to disable my F2A' as your problem. Take a look at the picture below if you still don't know what you should click on. If it doesn't work for you then try using a different browser.

Edit: It looks like the circle you mentioned does exactly the same thing as clicking on the text. Use a different browser and make sure to disable all of its addons.
1675  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Can my account get too big for a trezor to store or will it just slow down? on: July 25, 2019, 08:33:53 PM
The transactions are huge because they come from a big mining pool but I don't think that should affect anything?

The weight of transactions doesn't matter. Account size refers to a number of transactions. If you decide to create a new transaction with 80-90 inputs then the signing process will take much longer than usual. Also, the web wallet might take some time to fetch the details of each transaction. Consider consolidating your inputs with 1 sat/byte fee from time to time or changing your settings on the pool's website.

1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: July 25, 2019, 07:02:58 PM
The OP did not move the BCH until after the fork with BSV. Therefore the BSV may have been replayed and the output is now assigned to one of the private keys in the ledger.

There is a small chance that the transaction has been replayed since OP moved his BCH coins a few months after the BSV fork. Wasn't someone replaying all the transactions deliberately right after the fork happened?

It is a pity that neither the BCH nor the BSV team will implement replay protection.

Bitcoin Cash developers have no obligation to implement the replay protection. Would you demand the same from Bitcoin Core developers for each fork?
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: July 25, 2019, 06:44:42 PM
When would it be safe to claim it without an issue?

You can claim your BSV coins as long as you follow a few simple steps. Neither Bitcoin Cash nor Bitcoin SV will implement replay protection, so there is no point in waiting.

So based on that, is my BCH in electrum or nano ledger s?

Based on what you wrote, BSV coins are stored in your Electrum wallet while BCH ones are on the Ledger. This makes things a lot of easier because there is no risk of losing coins involved. Download Electrum SV, import the private key there and move your coins wherever you want. Your Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash coins are safe and nothing will happen to them because they are stored in a different wallet.
1678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: July 25, 2019, 06:34:21 PM
No i did not claim my bitcoin cash until earlier few months ago.  Thus when the BSV fork happened on that date you mentioned, I still didn't claim my bitcoin cash yet.  Is that a problem or not?

It's not a problem because those coins were on your (BCH) address at the time of the fork. It doesn't matter when you access them.

But I didn't claim my bitcoin cash using electron cash until few months ago.  So would there be issue with this or not?  Someone mentioned even if you didn't claim bitcoin cash... your bitcoin cash is still in the electroncash waiting to be claimed?

If you had BCH in Electrum at the time of the fork then download Electrum SV and you will be able to move those coins. Things will get a little bit more difficult if they were stored on Ledger.
1679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: July 25, 2019, 06:19:39 PM
But what if you did not claim bitcoin cash yet at the time of the bitcoin sv fork?  Someone mentioned a while back you still get bitcoin SV... can someone confirm this?

Nothing. It doesn't matter if you accessed BCH wallet before or after the fork. If the private key was in your possesion at the time of BSV fork then you have both coins.

I know back then when i asked about bitcoin cash claiming, people said there was no time limit to when you could claim it as it would always be in that address.  But what about bitcoin SV?

There is no time limit in this case.

Again, I claimed my bitcoin cash from electroncash... but this was after the bitcoin SV fork.

Your Bitcoin SV coins should still be available if the transaction was not replayed. Try downloading Electrum SV and importing the private key. There is no risk involved since you have already moved all of your funds to your Ledger device.

Im also curious but would this method to claim bitcoin SV be difference if say someone kept their btc in their nano ledger s or another type of wallet like electrum but still did not claim bitcoin cash

It looks like Electrum SV supports hardware devices so users would be able to access their wallets using it. However, there is no replay protection so Bitcoin Cash coins can be stolen if users don't take appriopriate steps. Note that Bitcoin SV has not implemented replay protection and that's why Ledger doesn't support it natively.
1680  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A great lesser known wallet! on: July 25, 2019, 08:12:25 AM
it also supports lightning network, although it seems to be a custodial wallet which is a bit strange. i have to look into it more.

You can connect to an LND node if you run one, but LndHub needs to be installed. It allows users to create separate Lightning accounts. Not a big deal, I had to download lndconnect in order to use Zap mobile.
