I would prepare the price to settle down somewhere around here for a while, I mean, even if I were ridiculously optimistic, I still need time to plan for my life when money is no longer a problem right?

The price, being a little fluffy at the moment, is susceptible to bad news. Bitcoin Central and/or Instawallet getting raided and losing everyone's money would cause a news splash and a crash, especially since it throws cold water on the "move your money out of banks and into Bitcoin" theme that the media is running with. It would be a great buying op, could take us down to $60. Otherwise, we're likely to continue this meteoric rise.
Unless the hypothetical thief dumps all his coins at once I doubt we'll see anything to crazy. The fork issue was a MUCH larger test of bitcoin than this. I'm not sure, this may be true for us in the know how bad a double spend is. I doubt the general population can even relate to what that problem is. They can however relate to "BITCOIN HACKED UNSAFE SELL!" as we've witnessed before. I still doubt a large effect, though. EDIT: journalists own coins +1 And about the EDIT, yes, you can turn nearly everyone into a evangelical of bitcoin with vested interest, without even having to disclose, isn't that kinda sinister?

What *do* you trust as a store of value?
Real estate, gold. There's little chance that you wake up and your house or gold bars will have zero value. Although it's quite possible with bitcoins. Zero value may not, but there is a chance that your gold bars would not be worth much more than what you need to spend on securing them.

I'm still not sure what to make of this. If I understand correctly verification is necessary only to withdraw money and to deposit more than $50,000. I doubt these 8000 people want to really deposit more than 50,000. Maybe these are mainly people who want to be able to withdraw fiat? Why not See it? How many over $50000 orders have you guys seen today?

Yes, go long on leverage at the dip bottom, and but with the fiats earned.

No, I see Gox lag all over the place, so it must be true.

I love that you have a sense of humor though He will do good nearly anywhere, too bad his opponent is Bitcoin.

Proudhon down! I repeat, Proudhon down.
This won't phase him. He's only been wrong thousands of times before. He is conspicuously absent right now, though. He has been away for one day.

Okay, it's time for proudhon to pay up.

I respect the bears(human or bots you maybe) trying desperately to hold $100.
I call these the Proudhon Emergency Walls Or Proudhon's Bunker.

I got it! It's fucking benjamins!

American air support has arrived, now let's blow up this wall. I feel like beyond the $100 is the monolith and my brain will be like the final scene in 2001 with Dave Bowman. You know what I mean. What I am hearing right now is the bears speaking in the voice of GlaDOS.

I CAN FEEL MY MANLY POWER SURGING!
But seriously, this is awesome.
Does anyone know if there has been some huge uptake in BTC in China? Watching btcchina exchange has be thrilling. The current USD equivalence is about $110 dollars and it's been steady as the second largest exchange by volume.
Well, it's actually the fourth largest Hmm, maybe I'm lookin' in the wrong spot. I just check bitcoinwatch.com for volume. Is there something more accurate? Exactly the same place but why the difference? EDIT: Okay, by 24h volume, yes the second largest, That's the Easter effect!

Well, it's actually the fourth largest, but yes, we like it, seeing that both of the two operating ASIC mining corporations have Chinese backgrounds, and there is never a lack of rich people looking for diversifications of their wealth, I can only expect growth. The first online store accepting bitcoin has just opened(it serves mainly expatriates though)http://ijustwannabuy.com/. And who knows, maybe someday we can convince the government it's a useful weapon to challenge American financial hedgemony/ EDIT: I would like to add that bitcoin seems like a tool made for us, Chinese people's appetite for foreign goods can never seemingly be satisfied, yet we never have a convenient way to make payments, our credit cards are not accepted, Paypal must operate in separation from its other branches here, and that's actually why I was initially bullish on bitcoin's future.

I want to know what bitcoinity will display when we reach $100
A benjamin?

Here comes the first wave of retaliatory dumps. Poor wittle bears having a hissy fit.
They are doing this to make sure you can be in time for the fun.

Does anyone else enjoy the eerie quiet?
It is Easter, so a little quiet is to be expected. It's at best a enhanced weekend dip, in Asia we don't celebrate the Easter, so our attack should still continue. question is: will it spill over to mtGox? I guess arbitrageurs will have a hard time moving fiat to mtGox and buffers are only that big. I'd be surprised to see anything explosive to the upside before tuesday (no matter what chinese or any other market does).. actually wednesday more likely. But when the rocket fires that next stage... it'll shake the world who will watch in disbelief. Suppose that some Chinese/Korean tycoons made up the idea to buy, Gox would be the only place with enough liquidity I guess. My favourite scenario would be some bears who are ignorant about world cultural geography setting up walls, reckoning that there wouldn't be much buying during the Easter holiday, then gets gobbled up in a minute. Seems that I could be right then.
|
|
|
Nobody is around? So this is a secret rocket then?
Well perhaps the first batches of fresh fiat are trickling in at MtGox. If that's the case $100 will be broken within the hour. I even doubt if it will last that long.
