1661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin hidden gems. on: January 23, 2024, 06:11:54 AM
Actually How can we define a good research?  reading their white papers? Some times even scam project create good white papers even they disappear Smiley

Now I aint saying research makes any altcoin a sure bet.  Heck no.  These things stay risky business.  But informing yourself gives better chances of making calls that won't leave you crying into your beer a year from now.  So put in the hours before you put in the investments.  Might make all the difference.

I'm not really a fan of altcoins, especially new projects, I sometimes hear about new projects that can become gems and worthy to buy, but because of the fact that there are more scams than legit coins makes me to be skeptical about them. Carrying out research that in the end of the day might not result to much, really makes me lazy to indulge in the task, ofcourse there are some new ones that are worth investing in, that'll guarantee good profit on the short term, giving you a good ROI. But personally I only have interest in established top altcoins, I like to put my hard earned money in altcoins that I'm sure that have proven to be reputable in the crypto market, like Ethereum.
1662  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: IF NOT FOR GARRI: Drop your story on: January 22, 2024, 07:32:45 PM

Bro, you need to be more creative in your posts, if you wan make meaningful impact for dis forum, you for just relate drinking garri to Bitcoin matter, something like "I de ready to de drink garri and deny myself of some luxuries so I go fit save money to de buy Bitcoin de hodle till bull run", then you fit end am with how drinking garri no be new thing to you based on say na im sustain you through school, wen ground no level. Anyway I encourage you say make you no de in a haste to start topic, make you focus on learning and increasing your knowledge about Bitcoin, gradually you go begin to de make meaningful contributions and de start quality topic, all di best.
1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it even possible to offer 10% daily reward? on: January 22, 2024, 06:38:21 PM
Lol! No real world business can generate 10% income on their investment. So this looks like a ponzi scam to me. Anyone can create a token and can declare rewards even at 100% a day. But that does not mean this project is a legitimate one.

Money cannot be created out of thin air. Yes such projects get listed in pancake swap as it has become a hub of scam coins. So if you are getting this coins for free, go ahead. But do not invest your hard earned money into it.

The project is definitely a scam, it has Ponzi writing all over it, because giving investors 10% reward daily is not realistic for any business that plans to be in business for a long time. What they'll do is pay the rewards for sometime, after they've gathered enough greedy investors who'll probably sale off all their assets and others will borrow money to invest, by then the scammers have gathered more than enough returns on their scam project, they'll just shutdown. So if OP is up for the game, then it's better that he's not greedy and invests the amount that he can afford to loose, so hopefully he'll get some of his ROI before the ship will capsizes.
1664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Denying yourself comfortability in other to buy Bitcoin on: January 22, 2024, 05:59:43 PM
Nothing good comes easy, so to achieve something meaningful and great, someone has to sacrifice something, it can be putting in extra time, denying oneself luxury, saving more money or staying away from loved ones in order to achieve the targeted aim. So if an average income earner is determined to invest big in Bitcoin, it's to be disciplined and spend bellow their income to be able to achieve it, they can be doing DCA method, and avoid lifestyles that can derail them from meeting the target of long term hodling. But the problem is that with all the positive mindset and and knowledge of investment, without having enough income to meet basic needs then the desire becomes a pipe dream.
1665  Economy / Economics / Re: Demand and supply directly and indirectly related. on: January 22, 2024, 04:42:21 PM
Demand and supply can have a direct or indirect relationship, affecting market behaviour and performance. Understanding this is crucial for organizations seeking to optimize operations and competitiveness. Thorough research and analysis are necessary to gain the insights needed.

You should have given more insights and examples into your analyzing of demand and supply so we can understand better from the perspective that you're coming from. Anyways it's the supply and demand for goods and services that determines their prices in the market, if supply is greater than demand, then price will fall, likewise if demand is greater than supply then price will increase, this will continue until when demand and supply will settle at an equilibrium price. This is the basic economics concept that drives the market behavior and performance like you said. The concept also drives competition among producers of goods of close substitutes, if the price of one product is high in price, consumers will want want switch to another brand that produces similar product at a cheaper price. In the end it's the demand from consumers and the availability from suppliers that determines market price.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 22, 2024, 02:52:29 PM
We all have adventurous thoughts in us that tells us to go beyond our risk limits to achieve greater results, although this thoughts can help us to achieve greatness, but it's not in every aspect. Gambling requires discipline and budget and if a gambler sticks to these methods he'll not be distracted by that inner adventurous voice inside, instead he'll stick to the plan and gamble the percentage that is budgeted for the bet. So the key factor for gambling should be to gamble responsibly and to achieve this is to have a budget for it and be disciplined not to exceed it.
1667  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Believe, "Passive Investors Make More Than Active Investors?" on: January 22, 2024, 12:00:55 PM
I've been watching many YouTube videos on how to make lots of money through day trading.
Those videos are quite impressive and compelling.

However, I've read what Warren Buffet (an American businessman and philanthropist, widely considered the most successful investor of the 20th century) thinks about short-term investing, which is quite negative.
By the way, he also thinks BTC has no intrinsic value and cryptocurrency is just gambling.

https://www.investors.com/news/warren-buffett-bashes-bitcoin-as-gambling-token-bitcoin-price-hovers-near-30000/#:~:text=%22Something%20like%20bitcoin%2C%20it%20is,intrinsic%20value%2C%22%20Buffett%20said.

Passive investments should be more profitable than active investments because your passive investment is working for you without you putting in any physical labor and it won't disturb your day job or any other activities. If an investor has enough capital and is able to invest in reputable assets like Bitcoin, gold and real estate, he can even go on early retirement and leave on his ROI, because these assets will keep increasing in value. Meanwhile active investors like crypto traders are always active monitoring the market and facing the challenges of profit and lose, although there's nothing stopping an investor to merge passive and active investments.

As for billionaires like Warren Buffett, and Jamie Dimon, they're entitled to their opinions about Bitcoin, and it doesn't affect the increasing in value and adoption of Bitcoin.
1668  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's stop Wars Im calling up all to stop on: January 22, 2024, 08:39:23 AM
Let's stop Wars Im i Understood that war can make profit for some but Im not the one i don't sell oil i don't sell weapons Im average joe and many of you so no profits only loss so let's make group of team to finish Wars.
Who Gona join? Btw let's take down bad people and let's destroy their power together let's bring the light to the WORLD i have people whos in this Also becouse many people Will lose lifes and bad so it's not beneficial so let's stop

Whos IS this ? Let's go?

I wonder the impact that your group or team will make to stop wars that powerful nations, organizations and individuals are benefiting from, I doubt that you'll achieve anything, because there are NGOs and and groups who have the same objective as you, but I won't be surprised if they're using the groups as a front to raise money from individuals and charity organizations to enrich themselves. We have UN, WHO, Red cross, international courts and the rest, what impact do they have to stop wars? They can only advice and mediate nothing more, I believe that to stop wars the parties involved will have to sit for peace talks with concerned nations and their allies will support the resolutions of the agreements. But as far as powerful people are still benefiting from wars, I doubt that we can totally eradicate it.
1669  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Those interested in merit.. on: January 22, 2024, 07:23:50 AM
Snip

I never expect you to go by this, and you think you're helping the newbies by directing them to where they can just apply for free merits and that's all?

They don't need to learn and know how they could earn the merit themselves from other members through quality post, for how long would they keep applying for free merits, as am concerned, this is a bad recommendation for a newbie to start with, they will always focus on merits through this and begin to device means to physh for merits when they can't apply for free one again.

I thought that as a newbie that you'd be thankful to the OP for directing you to a thread where you can increase your chances of getting merit and ranking up in the forum, there's no need to be acting up bravery here, if you can take advantage of a merit source that wants to help in distributing merit to deserving quality posts that have not received merit, then be happy and go for it. Giving merit in this forum is personal choices of members, so you can make the most quality posts and nobody will merit it, perhaps the members that might merit it are not on the thread that you made the post, so the system is not really fair regarding merit distribution. Although as a newbie, you should be more concerned about learning and increasing your crypto knowledge, eventually the merit will start to come, but don't ignore merit help from source members, every eligible ranks apply for merit, so why can't you?
1670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: January 22, 2024, 06:28:03 AM
In my opinion, better to understand the market and adjust according to the period to be able to benefit from both sides. Now you can see what trends is happening in the market and most smart investors are apeing in to make quick cash to invest on long-term projects.

There is no straight line to make money in crypto, you just have to be smart and recognise opportunity and utilise it. I hope you noticed what is currently happening in solana blockchain? There are many such opportunities but it all depends on how we view the market.

Altcoins investment is a good way of making money provided you are able to recognise opportunities and exploit them properly.

Trends are new projects and are good for short term investments while coins that have lasted in the crypto market are long term projects, so they both serve their purposes for investors. Trending new projects if well researched and found to be worthy of investment are good to make profit on the short term, because they might not make it to long term, so an experienced investor will use the ROI to reinvest in long term projects. I think that this can be a perfect circle to integrate the two options, but trending coins carries far more risks because there are more scam projects than genuine ones, so there's a good chance that an investor might not make that profit on the short term to reinvest in long term projects. My personal preference if I have to go with one of them is to invest in long term projects because they've proven their reputations in the crypto market.
1671  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: NO GREE FOR ANYBODY!!!! YEAR 2024 on: January 21, 2024, 06:18:07 PM

1672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: January 21, 2024, 03:44:04 PM
All these will be good if you have gambling budget and not going beyond it and also make it of little percent of your weekly income. Example is the use of 1 to 5% of your weekly income for gambling and not going more than that.

If the gambling budget is small, you may not even look at the live match score until the match ended if you are not watching the match. I hate cashout.

I have bet on a match before that I thought I will lose and after 3 minutes extra time was over, the team I selected scored and won and I won the bet. Also there were time that reverse is the case. A match that I thought I have won will be lost in just 3 to 5 minutes extra time given.

Your method is the best approach to gambling, it'll help you to have patience and wait out the game, you'll feel relaxed and no much pressure whether you win or lose, you won't really be bothered about cashing out when you feel like the game is going against your bet. All the gambler has to do to achieve this is to have a budget for gambling and let the amount be what the gambler can afford to loose, with this method he can have all the patience till the game ends and no cash out. Afterall the bet should be for fun and not a source of income, so whatever the outcome is won't affect the gambler's emotions.
1673  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do exchanges work? on: January 21, 2024, 12:20:37 PM
My question is why is the rate higher on one exchange than on another?

The price is made by supply and demand. If demand on an exchange is greater than supply in the short term, prices can rise more sharply there than on other exchanges and vice versa. However, this is usually only the case in the short term because there are many so-called arbitrage traders who use price differences between exchanges to buy cheaper on one and sell more expensively on the other. As a result, the price usually adjusts quickly across exchanges.

He should understand that exchanges operate independently and the supply and demand in each ones determines their prices of crypto coins, and the law of basic economics applies in them, so if demand is much and supply is less in an exchange price will slightly increase and if supply is greater than demand in the same exchange price will slightly reduce. Although among exchanges price differences are not much, as you nareted, traders can buy cheaper in one exchange and sale higher in another exchange, thereby creating a near price balance.
1674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I dont trust world rulers how do we know they have nuclear? on: January 21, 2024, 10:19:39 AM

So USA and russia and others show us proof otherwise i say this is just Lia like covid.

I really don't belive there are anything like nuclear weapons it could be just big acting and fooling.

By showing you proof that nuclear weapons exist, USA and Russia, needs to detonate some and you'll see the effects first whether it's a weapon of mass destruction before you believe? What if they detonate it and nobody is here to testify that it's real? I advice you not to worry yourself about whether nuclear weapon is real or not and focus on the damages that the already tested weapons have done, you've seen drones, tucano jets and that atomic bomb in Japan, you know the extent of damages that they can cause. If nuclear weapon happens today, you might not be around to testify whether it's real or not, so be careful of what you wish for. Politicians and the media can be deceptive but don't question a gun pointed at you whether the bullet inside is capable to kill or not.
1675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie gathering Club on: January 21, 2024, 08:56:42 AM
All useful links are already in this section you don't need to make this thread because this section already has sticky threads for newbies like you, you should read them first before you make a thread number one this "Newbies - Read before posting".

Thanks for the clarity, I hope OP takes the advice and does the needful by first reading the pinned threads in every board, there are numerous links to get every information needed, if he had done that, he'd never had created this topic, so for starters he can go through the pinned thread here "Newbies -Read before posting". The thing is that many newbies miss a lot when they don't go through the manuals of whatever they want to engage in, and they'll end up making available mistakes. I really respect this forum because it is well structured in every sense because there's provision for answers to every questions that can be asked about the forum and the profile of every member is seen, it's a real decentralized platform.
1676  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to end indecision and delay on bitcoin investment on: January 21, 2024, 07:37:39 AM
The following is the most valuable guidelines of ending indecision and delay during investment on bitcoin.
1. Identify the area of indecision and remove fear that leads to failure.
2. Focus more on the benefits not on the losses.
3. Create timetable and gives deadline
4. Always be optimistic by avoiding spirit of pesmistic
5. Avoid people opinion because it may be harmful mostly coming from wrong source
6. Always be self confidence
7. Understand the scope others has taken to succeed
8. Evaluate positively and negatively  your past indecision and delay consequences
9. Put into action what your mind tells you without second thought.
I think this can help us this year on Bitcoin investment , please add yours to help our growth.

Thanks for listing these important guidelines wey go help us to de focused and avoid indecision for Bitcoin investment matter, if we no follow some sets of rules like these ones wey you share so, we fit de delay to hold better asset like Bitcoin. Fear of the unknown fit to stop people wey no de knowledgeable for crypto matter, but for we wey know wetin de, we no suppose slack to de hurdle Bitcoin.

I agree with your guidelines except number 5, wey you say make we avoid people opinion because e fit come from wrong source. So what if di opinion de come from the right source? We need to hear people opinion then decide whether we go take am or not. Lastly number 9 wey you talk say make we do wetin our mind tell us without second thoughts, this one de a little misleading. What if your mind de tell you to do di wrong thing, based on the wrong information wey you don gather? I believe say we no need to rush into making decisions because we fit de wrong. Di reason why we de confidence for Bitcoin be say we don take time study am and come know say na better investment e be.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In Search of Financial Freedom: The Answer Lies With Bitcoin, Not Stablecoins on: January 21, 2024, 06:17:40 AM
This is for the people who see CBDC as an alternative to the traditional monetary system and it explains why decentralization matters when we talk about financial freedom and staking money with centralized token called CBDC is never really intended for that use.

Use stable coins for trading purposes and never trust them for storing your money, it can vanish overnight if the issuer decides to run away.
In countries that has high to hyper inflation, stable coins can be their savior because of how useless their currency and this means about their daily usage and not for investing purposes. As for investment, we all agree that it's about Bitcoin and that's the best asset that someone can have. While many are experiencing some problems regarding on which crypto they should choose. There's no need to look around and be problematic about it because having Bitcoin can be their greatest asset without having to worry about anything.

Stablecoins and Bitcoin serves different purposes, and they're both important in the different ways that they're applied in financial matters. As you noted stablecoins like usdt is best for currencies that are facing high inflations, they can convert to usdt, but when we talk about the best option to secure your money into an asset so that it can increase in value, it'll be none other than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is decentralized and it is not controlled by any central authority, which makes it a very safe place to invest your money.
1678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is more profitable? on: January 20, 2024, 04:28:22 PM
Bitcoin is most decentralized while many altcoins are centralized. Bitcoin is better and can reach ATH, unlike many altcoins. But in the process of gambling with altcoins, there are some altcoins that have more ROI than bitcoin. Just that some altcoins can become shit coin or a dead coin but bitcoin can not become shit or dead.

Undeniable truth, Bitcoin is and will still remain the king of cryptocurrency because it is the first crypto coin to make a massive impact in the crypto space and has driven the popularity and adoption of cryptocurrency. It still remains the most reputable crypto coin, because when you hold it, no matter for how long there's no fear that it'll turn to shitcoin, this is why it's highly recommended for long term investment holding, no matter how the crypto market trends, it's value will keep increasing. Also recommended are top altcoins like Ethereum and BNB, they have also withstood the test of time and found worthy to but money in, these are crypto coins that you can buy without carrying out much research about there credibility. The same can not be said about new projects because there are more scams than legit.
1679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Satoshi Nakamoto remove the 21 million BTC limit? on: January 20, 2024, 02:38:04 PM
That limited amount that makes bitcoin deflationary can not just be added to or erased. What that will cause the supply to be altered will means that miners will all agree to that and nobody will agree to that. People want it to stay at 21 million BTC. I speculate that any attempt to do anything to alter the 21 million supply will only be a failed attempt.

Never expect anything good about bitcoin from bitcoin critics.

Jamie Dimon, expressed his personal opinion and that is what it is, he can not speak for the multitude of adopters that have accepted Bitcoin the way Satoshi Nakamoto, designed it, Bitcoin ETF has happened, bull run is building up in top gear, and investors are increasing, there's nothing to worry about. I believe that nothing can alter the 21million Bitcoin limit, he is a Bitcoin hater so we shouldn't expect anything good about Bitcoin from him and other critics.
1680  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID is dead, "long live the new COVID". World economy get ready? on: January 20, 2024, 01:08:52 PM
The world economy and population has not yet everywhere moved away from the covid and events of 2022, and ... a new global pandemic awaits us ?  Your opinion - what and how to prepare for ?
Although I don't have accurate information about this new epidemic, I think the media is exaggerating this issue. Maybe we're past the fear of what's happened, and now a certain sign can make everyone confused, but honestly I feel like what we just went through gives us hope and enough experience to cope with challenges. But anyway, I am waiting for clear information on this issue, but I think maybe things are calming down now. Since the news started to spread until now, it seems like everything is under control, and there is not much relevant information about the severity.

As we can see today that the virus shouldn't be a cause for alarm, because we haven't heard of anything close to the covid 19 pandemic, hopefully we will not experience such magnitude of threat to human existence again. It was probably a media hype for people to subscribe to their channels, they'll make something out of nothing serious, probably a normal flu that was affecting children and they'd make it a big deal because covid came out of china. I believe that the covid experience was an eye opener for the whole world that a disease can kill and cripple the economies of the whole world, so governments must be in the ready for future occurances.
