if BTG takes off solid  we could see a boost on nvidia card prices.

Simple logic dictates it.

I will be making a move to get the Zotac 1070ti MINI (110watts, 200core, 700mem, 500sols, DSTM miner) before prices go crazy.

Does that video now mean I'm famous?

Does anyone happen to know if there are any Mobo/Chipset restrictions with Vega?  I read somewhere about this but couldn't validate it.  I am running an Intel G3258 on a Biostar TB85 Mobo & 8 GB RAM . Any perceived problems running 4 Vega's on this?

Shouldn't be - mine is running on an old ECS A780-GM-A AM2+ motherboard with an Athlon X64 5050e at the moment.

I'm not sure if the current Vega 56 models are IDENTICAL, but since they're all reference models they should be - possible exception for the fan and some of the non-core components but the board itself, the GPU, and the memory are DEFINITELY all sourced from AMD.

Yet again I regret that EVGA is a Team Green only shop - though Sapphire as a Team Red only shop makes up for it.

I have compared 1060 6go with 1070TI

Not 1070 and 1070TI.

It's ok, sometimes I don't take the time to read a thread carefully and I'm getting angry easily too when it's question to save 20$ on my payroll Tongue

I wasn't replying to you - which isn't clear in MY comment as I borked the quote.

I was replying to someone talking about paying about $600 for a GTX 1070 ti and then using THAT overpriced card from a ripoff third-party seller on Newegg in a price comparison to a 1070 selling from Newegg itself.

Not to say I've NEVER misread a post - but not the case THIS time.

this morning there was an outage in EU affecting several pool providers that had the EU servers there: suprnova, flypool, ethermine, miningspeed, hence an almost 3 hour downtime.

Set up one or more backup pools - somewhere else.
Doesn't help if YOUR ISP or the core ISP they connect to goes down, but can make a big difference is the POOL'S ISP goes down on one pool.

1665  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Internet Speed on: November 09, 2017, 08:50:52 PM
If you're running a big operation, a second connection as a backup makes sense.
Most ISPs are stable enough for small operations.

Only time I lose Net at this point is if my POWER goes down, as the panel I connect into for my Net access runs from building power - so a backup connection doesn't help me much if at all.

If your net or power goes down when you're asleep, it's not going to be a big deal if you set up your miners to start back up when power comes up.
Usually that's a setting in the motherboard BIOS for a GPU rig, and it seems to be the default for most or all ASIC stand-alone miners.

You don't need a local wallet running to mine to a POOL - only if you are solo mining.
I've had enough issues with pools that I gave up on ALL of them a couple weeks back and went to solo mining exclusively.
BURST income is low enough that the "lottery" nature of solo mining isn't a big deal to me.

Perhaps try a non-java miner? Blago works well on Windows.
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 Ti benchmarked in Eth & Zec on: November 09, 2017, 08:43:05 PM

The lowest new was $329.99 for ZOTAC 1070 Minis -- mid May this year from Newegg.

Really wish I had gotten more, hah!

Makes me wish I'd been LOOKING at NVidia cards harder that far back - though even that price had to have been a short-lived sale price.
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 Ti benchmarked in Eth & Zec on: November 09, 2017, 08:41:53 PM

3x 1070 Ti setup uses ~500 watts on the highest draw algo (at the wall).

You are running them at an inefficient operating point.

Try +200 core +700 memory at 60% TDP (106 watts) for an EFFICIENT operating point on the GTX 1070 ti, then tweek around that starting point.

1669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 Ti benchmarked in Eth & Zec on: November 09, 2017, 08:34:23 PM
nice test thank you

i think get 1070 in low price is better then?

The 1070 would look way better at a regular cost... the 1070s I own I paid no more than $329 for them (the majority I paid $299). But it's impossible now to get that.

I would buy them again at $329 or less.

Must be nice - I've NEVER seen 1070s in that kind of price range, I think the LOWEST I ever saw them at NEW was $369 or $379.

Are you talking new cards or used?
1670  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Taxes Mining Bitcoins on: November 09, 2017, 08:31:57 PM
Somebody can help me about the taxes mining Bitcoins in Canada and USA. Taxes to import the hardware, income tax,  etc.

Taxes on importing those hardware are inevitable since tariffs are always assessed on goods entering every country specially if the price of it is quite high. Income taxes from bitcoin mining operation is quite hard to compute. I don't think there are already countries who gave the exact formula on how to compute taxes from it. Things that should be considered are, the expense that you had for mining the coin. Where are they going to base the income that you got from mining since the transactions are somehow anonymous how can they get a record of the exact number of coins that was mined by the farm.

Tariffs vary widely - and in many cases on specific items being imported into strong "Free Trade" countries IS in fact zero.
1671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to connect more GPUs to Xilense XP730R8 PSU? on: November 09, 2017, 03:17:31 AM
I have Seasonic m12ii750-evo. I run 6 x gtx 1060 on it. Power draw is at 650 at the wall. Been running like that since july. It's a great psu.
I also have Evga G2 led 750 in the same setup  but it only has 4 x pcie connectors.

Probably 4 connectors on the power supply but 2 of the cables are "dual" cables for a total of 6 PCI-E connectors?

EVGA does a lot of "use a cable with a 6+2 pin AND a 6-pin" to add connections to their G2 series power supplies - as does Seasonic on the X-series and the SnowSilent series.

1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: November 08, 2017, 08:20:56 PM

RX470 rigs are still difficult to upgrade, tbh, as it's impossible to get as much bang for the buck currently... And they're still chugging along nicely. I've been contemplating a Vega56 rig for a while but I just can't seem to make the step. Mostly for logistical reasons... But time to breakeven is definitely a big factor.

Vega at this point only seems to be good with Monero - and only then on Win 10 as the bloody blockchain driver needed to get good Monero hashrate DOESN'T WORK on Win7.
(Perhaps LINUX, as I think AMD finally got around to updating the LINUX driver).

Thank goodness I didn't get my Vega 56 card with the intent of mining on it.

1673  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Internet Speed on: November 08, 2017, 08:06:30 PM
1000s of miners, you're probably going to need something higher end than dial-up equivilent - but I've never been anywhere near that level.

I SUSPECT 10 Megabit would be enough - but would not be shocked if you need closer to 100.
I believe you would likely need more upload speed, but that it would depend on how many shares you send back TO the pool vs how many new blocks it sends to each miner.
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to connect more GPUs to Xilense XP730R8 PSU? on: November 08, 2017, 07:59:27 PM
As I already stated, my current 6-card rig runs 1080 ti cards - and 2 power supplies to handle the load.

Both the Seasonic X-850 and EVGA G2 850 have 8 PCI-E connectors as stock cabling.

1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Opinions about this new rig on: November 08, 2017, 07:49:27 PM
8GB cards have an actual advantage in ETH mining over 4GB cards - 8GB cards normally have 8000 Mhz "effective" clock rate ram, 4GB normally have 6600 or 7000 instead - which MATTERS noticeable on ETH mining.

Tradeoff is they tend to be more expensive - but if you do end up reselling them, they DO retain a higher value that makes up for a lot of the extra cost.

Price is 32 % higher.

You OVERpayed for that model - NewEgg had a "Newegg as seller" listing for it at $499 - and the ICX models are more expensive anyway.
Price on COMPARABLE models is less than 10% difference - like the EVGA SC 1070 at $439 vs the EVGA 1070 ti SC at $469.

1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Opinions about this new rig on: November 07, 2017, 10:58:07 PM
I'd go with the EVGA G2 1000 instead of the GQ.
The GQ series as I recall used a junk "fancy name" sleeve bearing fan, the G2 uses a good ball-bearing fan that WILL last a lot longer in heavy-duty 24/7 use like in a mining environment.
Seasonic X-1000 would be another good choice if they weren't out of production.

Go with the Sapphire "mining" RX cards - lower cost than the actual Nitro, similar performance, cooling is at least as good.
The RX 470 model that has the "no DVI connector" on it in particular has noticeably better cooling than the stock Nitro - but you probably will need ONE card with a video connector on it to hook your monitor to.
1678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: different GPUs in the same rig on: November 07, 2017, 10:51:52 PM
You can mix RX 470/480/570/580 cards with little or no effect on stability - just don't try to run the different cards with the same settings if you want best efficiency or best hashrate.

1679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Deep Learning Accelerating Card SC1 on: November 07, 2017, 10:50:10 PM
Not for mining, it's intended for use in "Deep Learning" AI related software acceleration.

Try turning OFF the CPU mining in Nicehash.

Color of a USB cable doesn't matter, it's the GENERATION that matters - blue is common for USB 3.0 cables but I've seen them in other colors too.
