Well, we have a few witnesses, and their testimonial provided the proof we need. xDeathwing has not yet gone his way to prove anything :/ And currently he has not proven to have sent proof to either of the people
The only definitive proof for xDeathwing owing 0.5 BTC to sitnicki rather than 0.05 BTC is quotes from sitnicki and Carlos L. However, this may not be an issue because xDeathwing appears to have admitted that he changed the offer from 0.5 to 0.05. As far as this matter is concerned, xDeathwing is in breach of contract if he does not pay sitnicki soon. xDeathwing did not state when the bitcoins will be paid, but it has to be done in a reasonable timeframe. As for this accusation: He's pulled suspicious crap on coinchat as well.. Asked the user "fontas" to lend him a certain amount with the promise it would be paid by a specific date and I recall fontas telling the mods that there wasn't any payment on the agreed upon deadline.
No one has linked to any proof for this accusation. Contrary to popular belief, a bunch of angry people holding pitchforks isn't enough evidence.

The transaction is pretty big (2.7 kB), plus it has a output less than 0.01 BTC. You will need to pay more fees if you want the transaction to be confirmed anytime soon. I suggest a fee of 0.001 BTC per kB. Read this topic for how to resend it with a higher fee: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232979.0.

He is fontas... and now you have 2 claims against you, Yet you have failed to provide proof of innocence for both... Show us the TXIDs for fontas and this guy what happened to innocent until proven guilty?

EDIT - Also I cant open with notepad, It just crashes. (notepad goes unresponsive)
just to be clear, you can't "recover" by opening wallet.dat with notepad. Even opening a working wallet will result in gibberish.

There is practically no situation where rescan will help, you shouldn't advise people to do that.
I had missing transactions from my wallet so my wallet balance was wrong after a day waiting for a transaction to show. After i did a rescan the missing transactions showed and the balance in my wallet corrected itself. So that was a situation where rescan helped me. but that's not the issue OP was having. You were just giving fixes to unrelated problems.

the free hosting ad at the top is a dead giveaway. also, there's some funny stuff in the root directory http://bitcointalk.us/phisher.php LOL i'm having some fun entering in some fake admin logins :p

I'll contact the program creator and pay his bitcoins(as soon as i can, cause i don't have bitcoins.)
so are you paying sitnicki 0.05 BTC or 0.5 BTC? You'll still be in hot water if you only paid 0.05 BTC, unless you came to an agreement with sitnicki to void the debt.

|
I'll send you $10 CAD for 0.09 BTC.
sorry, only interested in trading USD.

Are transaction fees proportional to the amount?
no they are proportional to the size of the transaction, which is determined by how many inputs and outputs.

Your call for sendtoaddress looks like it's missing a parameter. Are you sure you're calling it correctly?
Also I moved your topic because litecoin related discussions belong in alt-coins

The first one i wrote was a joke (0.5 BTC One edited after that.) then i took it serious and changed it to 0.05. I know b!z sent me a PM and i answered him, i told him I'll pay tomorrow but i completely forgot that, so my fault.
You made an offer to pay sitnicki 0.5 btc if he made a video and virus scan. sitnicki delivered before you modified your offer. You made no indication in the offer that it was a joke. That's breach of contract and would make you a scammer.

Are you trying to get this to work with bitcoin, or litecoin daemon? The two have slightly different API because of updates. Also, it would be helpful if you could describe the error you are having.

... Is xDeathwing a sock?
How is someone here for less than 6 months a staff member?
how is any of this related to xDeathwing's scam accusation? wait what? did xDeathwing send any bitcoins at all?
No, the OP (B!Z) said that he had pm'ed xDeathwing and he said that he would send it "tomorrow" but never sent it... Thank you for clarification
|
|
|
But that's circumstantial evidence. It doesn't directly prove that xDeathwing's post said 0.5 BTC.
Which does not atone for his failed promise to send (edited) 0.05BTC. wait what? did xDeathwing send any bitcoins at all?

Has anyone talked to Theymos about it? He could check what the message was pre edit. For 0.5BTC, I'd hope it is a mistake rather than a scam.
Here is the thing. If it was a mistake, he would edit as soon as he posted it, BUT NO. He changed it AFTER the OP posted the video.... Seems like a scam to me... But that's circumstantial evidence. It doesn't directly prove that xDeathwing's post said "0.5 BTC" in his post. The only other supporting proof is testimony from Carlos L. and sitnicki. Not exactly solid case. b!z, I suggest you remove "xDeathwing is a scammer" from your signature as it's exactly conclusive that he's a scammer.edit: see crossed out section for edit details I will agree that xDeathwing is a scammer if he does not pay sitnicki 0.05 BTC within a reasonable timeframe. I do not think there is enough evidence to conclude that xDeathwing's offer said "0.5 BTC" at any time from August 30, 2013, 03:35:21 AM to August 30, 2013, 05:20:01 AM. Therefore I do not think xDeathwing is liable to pay 0.5 BTC.

2. buy btc at 999999 price, sell btc at 0.01 price - how to calculate the amount to put in POST request?
This seems like the best solution. It looks like a cheap hack, but I don't see how it can go wrong.

You give me Paypal USD, I send you bitcoins @Mtgox 24hr avg (@bitstamp 24hr avg if you're VIP/Donor/Staff). I'm only interested in small amounts (~$15); Users with activity less than 60 may not apply. I reserve the right to restrict trade quantities based on user reputation.

What do you reckon? Just as a precaution...
...but there's no imminent threat to bitcointalk, nor is there a reason to believe there will be an imminent threat. Why should we expend time and energy to prevent a threat that doesn't exist?

simple answer, the difficulty has risen to such an extent to cause these longer times, simply to counteract the short confirm times we have seen recently. overall, when averaged out over the year it should be near on 10 minutes a confirm
if anyone is going to moan about lengthy confirms, they should also moan about fast confirms, which is the cause of it.
we're actually above the target hash rate. if anything, confirmations should be faster than 10 minutes (on average). OP most likely neglected to pay the transaction fee.
