1661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are paying miners $5000, undeservedly on: May 17, 2017, 06:13:36 AM
No, Satoshi thought about increasing the block size few months after end of 2010, but now Core devs and Bitfury are blocking this.

What do you think is Core and Bitfury's main purpose on why theyre blocking this? There has to be a good reason why. Like avoiding the further centralization of mining? I see that reason used quite a lot by random people. I would like to hear more reasons from the staff here.

1663  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmixer.io Missing Funds on: May 17, 2017, 05:18:42 AM
UPDATE: Second transaction finally came through about 2 hours ago. Crises averted.

Still stuck at 0 conf, but that sort of thing I'm used to. Which is kinda sad, IMO. We really need to do something about that.

I think the issue here is that due to the backlog, they were waiting on other transactions to be confirmed (some sites will send inputs that are still unconfirmed, while others will wait, as it can't confirm until all previous inputs are anyways).

You think? Im sure its the real issue. Everything with BTC is so slow these days. It's not worth paying the higher fee when you know you can pay a lower one of your transaction can wait. You can also start using altcoins like LTC or ETH of you want to move value around from exchange to exchange.
1664  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stop-Limit at Poloniex on: May 17, 2017, 05:13:41 AM
There have been some issues with Polo stop-limit recently. I guess they have fixed up everything now. Please do double check this before using ti.

Why dont you check it and report back here since youre the one who said that they fixed it already. Their notice box says its already fixed and theyll start crediting users back their stuck coins. I feel sorry for those who lost money. Its not their fault and the exchange should claim responsibility and give their users some form of restitution.

After browsing the last 2 pages of the thread I still think the ICO market is now good to invest in. We should go into it while its hot because you will never have the same opportunity as this if the government starts banning them.
Well this is just my own opinion invest in ICO for me still not a good idea because 3/10 are legit.. they are just few legit but most of them are scam..
Except if you can analyze the background of those altcoin..
Well for me i just choose altcoin that already live for a long time and there are in top ranking most of them are in top 20 rankings that can gives you good  profit if you can hold them for a long time..

Most of them may not be legit but most of them can give you 10 times your original investment in under a year. Who says we will keep holding it forever. We know almost all of them are only good for making more BTC for us.

Theres something happening on Poloniex. Its their stop limit feature. In their notices box it says that their stop limit feature is disabled. Maybe the traders are making bots that are abusing it and it makes the exchange lag?
What ? How ? That doesn't make any sense.I'm sure of poloniex handling multiple requests concurrently. Also I've no idea what bots can do about stop limits. You have wrong information.

Can anyone confirm if its ok to use Poloniex now?
As long as you don't trust them with the amount you can't afford to lose,it's alright.

You can check their news box or ask around in the troll box. Its posted there. How can I have the wrong information if the message came straight from them?

You advice someone its ok to lose their funds as long as they can afford to lose it? How stupid.
1668  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin treated as money in Australia from 1. july on: May 15, 2017, 07:54:32 AM
Hopefully before July 1st, we would be seeing some decisions about the SegWit - BU clash. The way the system works right now is kinda absurd, knowing that the number of unconfirmed transactions RIGHT NOW is 78000+ and growing. By then, how could the network possibly handle a volume of probably million transactions every day? It's kinda sadenning that every time something good happens in adoption, a far greater problem is present in the protocol itself.

I dont think we matter. So theres nothing we can say that will change things. You can sell all your BTC and it wont matter because most of us dont run nodes, dont mine and dont develop code improvements for the protocol. We are here holding BTC and hoping to make a lot of money out of it.
1669  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Where to invest my Bitcoins? on: May 15, 2017, 07:46:16 AM
I believe you need to diversify your investments between altcoins, as there is the easy to trade, you can try casinos bankrolls as well, there are a few trusted around, in the last option maybe build your project with your bitcoins.

How high are the returns the BTC casinos give you? Are they high enough to double your investment in 1 year?

Doubling your investment in a year is near to impossible mate. If the OP has experience in lending then it would be a good idea to try lending service in here. It is riskier but more profitable than poloniex.

Do you run an active lending service or have any experience in running one? How much is the difference in earnings in running the riskier one here in the forum compared to using the lending feature on an exchange like Poloniex?

1670  Economy / Economics / Re: What percentage of global population are using or have at least 1 satoshi? on: May 15, 2017, 07:39:14 AM
It's impossible to know for sure, friend. Knowing from the number of wallets? That's impossible because one person can have lots of wallet. I think the population of people using bitcoin is still small, probably not more than 20%. Seeing bitcoin is new and not yet 10 years old so still needs adjustment and takes time for people to start using it. But I'm sure that the percentage of the population of people who use bitcoin every year continues to grow, this can be seen from many countries that accept bitcoin and the increasing number of bitcoin adoption. For a certain percentage or number of bitcoin users in the world it maybe difficult to know.

20%? Thats very generous of you. Its only around 1%. But thats not a bad figure considering its new and still growing. It also isnt legal which could be one cause of the slow growth rate.
I say no more than 20%, 1% is not more than 20% so there is nothing wrong with my saying Cheesy Bitcoin users around the world are still a little but I think now is starting to increase and definitely more than 1%. It is difficult to determine the percentage of bitcoin users around the world because there is nothing to set or does not have a central office.

You can reason all you want but the fact the you started with no more than 20% means you thought it could reach 20% which is way off to reality. It shows that you didnt think much about it and threw a random number that felt right for you.

The world population is around 7b. 1% of that is 70 million. I dont think the total number of BTC users can reach that. Maybe it can but it wont be over that by much.

1672  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin treated as money in Australia from 1. july on: May 14, 2017, 12:06:20 PM
I saw a guy claiming that this would mean Australia does not tax bitcoin, and I think this is not the case at all, so study how taxes work because taxes still apply.

I guess this means that in Australia you don't have to pay nothing but capital gains if you cash out in AUS (as it should be, because having to keep track of every single crypto trade you do is an act of insanity)

No taxes for BTC? Thats impossible. What government would be so stupid to encourage their citizens to use a competing currency by not taxing it when its used? The guy who said it is probably not that intelligent.

1674  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin treated as money in Australia from 1. july on: May 13, 2017, 09:17:23 AM
I've just read that Australia will start accepting bitcoin as a currency from July 1st. Also allowing bitcoin to be integrated better into the economy and offers no tax on it. Anyone else read about this?

So then now AML laws will apply to those BTC users who move money around the network. Anyone whos constantly moving even the small amounts can be liable by law as money launderers. There are many ways your government can abuse this.

disclaimer not an investment advise. just a suggestion. you can try ICO there are some good ICO for example BAT that is if you can get in quick or MobileGO. wish you best of luck.
ICO is a better suggestion but before joining any ICO we should check that the ICO will not be scam and we have to look that the developers will be active for the coin and they will give success of the coin and in the future with their help the price of their coin will increase by increasing the demand.
To avoid being scammed on ICO the first thing is to know who are the escrow of the project its better if the escrow is trusted already. ICO are very profitable nowadays and investor has the responsibilites to know more about the project

Initial coin offerings are only good if they are backed by venture capitalists. That gives assurances that the project is real and the developers will not run away which was sometimes the case for the smaller ICOs.

I dont think MobileGO and BAT are good ones but please argue and tell me why Im wrong.

I don't understand on which aspects you have quoted that ICO's are not profitable. To some extent it happens with the ICO's that in between the entire development team gets hidden or sometimes the campaign won't run properly which is an failure of the cryptocurrency. In recent times creditbit is gaining potential and moving within certain digits.

In what part of my post did I say that it will not be profitable when the holders of the ICO tokens dump as soon as they are available in an exchange?

What I was trying to talk about is the long term prospects of the project and the possibility that some of them might become a scam. If a venture capitalist is also a backer of the project theres less chance that its a scam.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QAU] QUANTUM PROJECT - Connecting markets on: May 13, 2017, 07:56:34 AM
Kudos to Quantum team for gatheringa lmost near 2 million  dollars in just their pre-ico period. How much more will they get in the ICO! By the way, how long will it take for wallets to be released once ICO started and the plans for exchanges, are there any for this year or we will have to wait more months?

I think everyone know that it is the best time to buy Quantum. Still 4 more days to go and already its very near to 2 million Dollars, more than 1000 BTC. Does it happen with every ICO these days.? Excited to see QAU in the market.

Thats because an ICO these days are a good speculative investment. The returns are usually 100% or more. I havent seen an ICO token that didnt sell in an exchange without any profit. We should better make money because the market will not be always in the same sentiment.

It is pretty impossible to tell the exact number. But I don't think it is any more than 1% (70 millions) of the world's population.
So, you don't need to worry, Bitcoin has much to climb as it is just a starting. Wink

Now that puts everything in perspective doesnt it. Bitcoin isnt in as widespread use as its hyped to be but we see most members in the forum think that its already like the coming of something very big. Ask any normal person on the street what BTC is and youll get a funny look.
1680  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stop-Limit at Poloniex on: May 12, 2017, 07:15:47 AM
Try to read chart and just put limits according to current market trend. Don't just enter some random price on those limit, look at market depth and candle sticks.

The market doesnt follow your reads all the time but yeah, thats the general idea. Trading is really isnt as easy as it looks. Theres a skill component to it that you either have or dont have. You will know soon enough if you have it after a month or 2.
