1661  Bitcoin / Press / 2013-05-11 Silicon Valley Startup to Sell ASIC Based Bitcoin Mining Equipment on: May 12, 2013, 12:21:00 AM
http://www.prweb.com/releases/asic-bitcoin-mining/terrahash-avalon/prweb10703040.htm

TerraHash, a Silicon Valley based startup company, announced today that it will start selling ASIC based Bitcoin mining equipment based on BitSyncom's Avalon ASIC chip.

Disclosure:
I am not affiliated in any way with this company, just saw it on Google news and thought I would report it to the community.

I have less than zero skills when it comes to DIY.

Any chance we can get a lego like kit sans the soldering, i.e. part A1 goes into part B33 type thing?

I have tried soldering, it didn't turn out so well..........

Looks like bitcoind went haywire and lagged the entire server. Fixed again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@DrHaribo Thank you

for everybody else, FYI, I dad to restart bfgminer, to get it pulling work again.

100% shelved shares?? what gives?

You obviously stopped mining (hopped) at least 10M pool shares ago then.

Part of what makes CPPSRB hop proof.

I stopped mining because I needed to move my new rig to it's final location and had some problems with other issues and could not get back to it. However that being said, As soon as I reached .001 I started going backwards. Perhaps I do not understand CPPSRB and pool mining well enough yet, but over 7000 accepted and all of my shares go into shelf mode? This I do not understand at all, care to enlighten us noobs?

1671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Am I Doing It Right? on: May 07, 2013, 10:19:34 PM
So....

After lurking and then finally joining the forum here a month or so ago, I finally dove in and spent some cash and bought myself a starter rig.

8 Gigs of ram
3 Core AMD CPU
MSI MotherBoard
MSI twin frozr R7950
CoolerMaster 850 Watt PSU
CoolerMaster 932 HAF Tower

Below are my results so far:

My questions are:

Do the numbers look right?
What can I expect to achieve, will I manage to mine a single coin a month (combined)
Any suggestions on changes: cgminer related and or gpu related.

Thanks btceic

@friedcat, thanks for doing all of this work, the community really appreciates it, I am interested in purchasing 2 of these, however I have exactly 0 bitcoins, what are the chances that we will be able to purchase these in USD?
1673  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 02, 2013, 10:16:28 PM
2,000 Bitcoins have been reserved for the re-investment:

1. Deposits for the long-term pre-order of hard-to-get ICs.
2. Costs of mass production of Block Erupter USB sticks.

@friedcat,
Please re-consider your auctioning off the usb sticks, I will definitely by some, however I am like many others here are late to the game as far as bitcoin is concerned and would prefer to pay with conventional means.

By selling them off at a flat rate you will have a much larger user base, which is good for the BTC economy.

just my 2 cents

Please rate this rig:

Also can someone help to make an estimation on kH/S that I would be able to achieve mining LTC or FTC and breakeven points.

1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC MINER uses MASSIVE HASHING POWER to CURE CANCER! on: April 30, 2013, 11:26:43 PM
oh, and on their stats page it looks like about 75% of their network is being helped by cpu's .... bitcoin miners could really show these guys how computing power is done... and think about this too... if we broadcast to the world that the bitcoin community is going to use its power to possibly cure cancer, it could mean more media and respect for the bitcoin / altcoin, meaning a possibly much higher value and interest in bitcoins and the people that mine them.

1678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Building the next generation FAST CRYPTO CURRENCY MINING MACHINE on: April 30, 2013, 10:36:24 PM
Here is the problem as I see it in regards to all of the digital currencies that have sprung up over the past couple of years, BTC included.

[1]The current world population of ~5 Billion people aged 18+ all have a need/desire to make and receive goods and services; The easiest method invented so far beyond barter is to use a fiat type system of physical or digital currency (cash, debit card included but excluding BTC and the like).

All nations have some type of currency, but now we are speculating on a world currency, to me this means that the total amount of currency in the system needs to be larger than the actual population, No? and if not then why?

I did not major in economics but this right here seems to be the biggest overlooked fact of wide spread and immediate adoption throughout the world of a truly digital currency ala BTC.

Can any economists in here please join in on this thought?

This is why we are seeing people hoarding their BTC because it has a tiny tiny float of only 21MM, to me this is clearly not enough to sustain a global economy.

Using the above numbers:
5 Billion people able to earn and save BTC / 21 Million BTC == 0.0042 per person.

This is clearly not enough currency to go around and we haven't even begun to include corporations...

1679  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Mods Request on: April 30, 2013, 03:20:35 PM
I have a couple of requests for the mods to implement to make this forum even better than it is.

1): Add Sorting, for posts that I am following I would like to be able to sort by newest first.
2): Mobile Theme, some of us view the forum on our smart phones/devices.

Thanks

Just FYI, these are more admin requests than mod requests.  A mod request would be something involving doing something to a topic, not the main system.

I should have specified, forum modification request
