1681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: February 13, 2023, 07:23:13 AM
<...>
At the foot of this post you’ll find an article poste don IMF’s website, where they summarize the outcome of the official staff visit to El Salvador.

In terms of bitcoin related comment, they essentially reiterate their opinion on the country being exposed to a series of risks to "financial integrity and stability, fiscal sustainability, and consumer protection", though the limited use of bitcoin there, in practical terms, and from a macroscopic point of view, currently sets those risks way lower that the IMF might have thought it could be by now.

The IMF also slaps El Salvador on the wrists for their lack of transparency on bitcoin purchases and the Chivo System itself, something that seems a clear call that many can abide to. They vouch for proper audits to be carried out, indicating that one on the bitcoin trust fund (aka fidebitcoin) will soon conclude. Let's see if we get wind of that later on publicly.

As to the bitcoin bonds (or other token based products), the IMF is essentially discouraging their issuance, labelling them as something to avoid due to fiscal risks. Nevertheless, the kind of state that, if they do go ahead with them, the controls and guarantees should bathe in the best practices of traditional securities. It looks like they don't want them to go forward with them, but are well aware that they are going to come through regardless of IMFs will (as expected).

See:

It wouldn't be wrong if I wanted an explanation from you and JayJuanGee on the adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador. Your and JayJuanGee explanations really prove that the knowledge of Bitcoin development information in El Salvador is above most people present in this thread.

Regarding the risks of Bitcoin, the IMF continues to prioritize Article IV in 2021 even though their intention to El Salvador as stated in the official website you shared was to consult on Article IV 2023.
I will try to study both articles so that they can be taken into consideration to add to my knowledge regarding the IMF's desire for El Salvador's Bitcoin adoption.

Even though it was not a surprising result, Manchester City really thought that result was very important. But they need to be able to take advantage of every game enough to get 3 points because Arsenal still lead the standings by one point. Now Arsenal's advantage is only 2 points, and of course, tight competition will be expected after Arsenal lead the standings for quite a while.

The come back of Manchester City and the decline in form of Arsenal have made the title race even tougher. Arsenal have failed to maintain consistency in the last few matches, this has made them lose the 5 points they should have earned. Clearly Manchester City put that to good use, and now there is hope to see Manchester City dump Arsenal to 2nd place if Arsenal lose their next match against Manchester City.
Sooner or later, Manchester City can take over Arsenal's position in the standings.
Now the difference with Arsenal is only 3 points with 22 matches while Arsenal have only played 21 matches. The team that Arsenal will play against in the remaining 1 match (Round 16) is Manchester City.

The match will be played on Feb 16, 2023 at Emirates Stadium, but I'm not sure Arsenal can beat Manchester City. If the result of the match is a draw, then the difference in points is also not so far.
Lately Arsenal are experiencing a decline in performance while Manchester City always look promising in every match.

WHY DOES A GAMBLER DON'T HAVE A SAVINGS.
Because they are already addicted to the type of gambling being played. A gambler who has no savings is a gambler who has been hypnotized by the victory he has felt so that when he loses, the gambler will continue to try to find more money to return to play in the hope that he will win again after losing enough.
As many people say, a gambler with no savings is a gambler who is irresponsible with his finances.
He has nothing else on his mind but to find money to gamble.

The IMF, after another visit to Central America, changed the rhetoric regarding the policy of accepting bitcoin by El Salvador, saying that the risks associated with El Salvador's policy regarding bitcoin did not materialize, but El Salvador, according to the IMF, should reconsider plans to expand state participation in bitcoin. Here, it seems to me that the IMF is reflecting on the recently adopted law on digital assets, I hope that the adoption of this law will help El Salvador to further strengthen its position on the adoption of bitcoin. Smiley

We don't know the extent of Bitcoin development in El Salvador but I personally keep trying to scour various news sites to find out about Bitcoin development in El Salvador.
Since the initial announcement made by Nayyib Bukele that their country would legalize Bitcoin, many people have opposed the policy. The IMF was no exception.
The IMF was the first to warn Bukele to reconsider his decision on the grounds of economic safety and so on.

Then with the news you shared, Reuters wrote that the IMF again warned El Salvador to reconsider their efforts regarding Bitcoin bonds.
Actually, according to my observation from this Reuters news, the IMF thinks that El Savodor is avoiding IMF financing.
But with their visit, I can judge that the IMF has seemed to have lowered their tension a little than what has been stated in the past.

I am waiting for a clear explanation from some people who are more familiar with this such as @JayJuanGee and @DdmrDdmr.
1685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 12, 2023, 08:33:44 AM
Maybe I wasn't surprised by Chelsea's draw against West Ham because I didn't fully believe in the performance of coach Graham Potter and his players, this kept Chelsea in 9th place in the standings. Meanwhile, the result that I think is very surprising is that Arsenal again failed to get a win after being held to a draw by Brentford at the Emirates Stadium. This result made Mikel Arteta have to keep working hard in the next match because he again failed to widen the distance from Manchester City in the standings.
Chelsea have not been good since Graham Potter became coach. The 1-1 result at home to West Ham United did not make many people disappointed because those who bet on the match had considered Chelsea's performance so far.
There has been no significant change to Chelsea even though the owner has spent a lot of money from his pocket to get good players.

Maybe that makes the Arsenal vs Brentford match unexpected for the draw. Usually the team coached by Arteta can score above 2 goals but in reality they cannot win at home.
But with the acquisition of a draw Arsenal can make the competition for the Premier League trophy tighter especially if Manchester City can win the match against Aston Villa.
1686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 11, 2023, 01:06:59 PM
Both teams were not in the best of form. Perhaps in this match the situation will be different from their last match. West Ham and Chelsea have the same motivation and I can feel that the atmosphere of the London Stadium will be interesting to watch.

The line-up is confirmed, Joao Felix is included in the starting line-up and he will be a good duo with Enzo Fernandez.
Bowen and Rice will be the servants who will provide service to Antonio up front for West Ham.
I'm assuming that this match is more likely to be a draw.
The game has started and Chelsea look to take over the game and it looks like they want to score a quick goal to make their game more comfortable going forward. Even though Chelsea is in a form that cannot be completely trusted, I think it would not hurt to give them confidence in them by betting on Chelsea's win in this match. I'll give it a try, even if it's risky.  Grin
It's been 35 minutes into the match and what I said about Joao Felix being a good duo to build Chelsea's attack do you still not believe?
Did you watch how Joao Felix scored in the 16th minute?
There's still plenty of time left in the game and West Ham will be looking to avoid dropping points in this one and again Bowen set up Emerson's equalizer. It will be an interesting match until the end of time.

The odds on Chelsea's win is 2.2 against West Ham... Although Chelsea are not in great form at the moment, they have not lost their last games... I think you can take a chance and bet on their win today because West Ham are not very good either, although they played 1-1 away against Newcastle in their last match... I'm in favour of Chelsea today...

1688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My ideals on how to promote Bitcoin in my locality on: February 11, 2023, 11:37:33 AM
There are so many ways Bitcoin can be promoted especially here in Nigeria and wold wide.
Firstly religious leaders play a very interesting roles in the life of people and are seen as role models and mentors some see them as a father figure, so what ever this set of people tell there followers that is what exactly they will all do.
With the numbers of churches and mosques that we have I know if Bitcoins is been enlightened to us through this regions then people will trust and believe in BTC, Bitcoin will surely go more far and spread wide with this ideas.
Secondly Bitcoin is better than saving in a bank because it appreciate while it is been saved in our wallets and it is also an investment, so many people complain from there day to day activities with the local banks of been debited without cause and reducing the expected savings this is not a good reputation and Bitcoin has solve this aspect of issues, with the security of wallets, hard ware and software wallets fraud is been reduced making both the old and the young to believe that they are saved from been scammed through BTC.

#Just my thoughts.
It will not work optimally if promotion is done through religious channels. I understand the point of your good thinking that is trying to share thoughts on how to promote Bitcoin widely, but there are many other paths we can take to do so.

Maybe in your country Bitcoin is acceptable and can be easily promoted, but there are countries that still limit crypto activities and there may even be countries that prohibit any type of activity.
Things like this must also be included in our minds when we try to think about the right method of promoting Bitcoin.

Religious leaders are better off focusing on activities that lead to human self-change for the better for themselves and for their country.
This is just my thinking too.
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin trans-generational assets? on: February 11, 2023, 09:54:41 AM
No one really knew that Bitcoin could be as valuable as it is today from being so worthless that a large amount could only get you a slice of Pizza.

I wouldn't say nobody knew it was going to be extremely valuable.  I think back when it was under $10 I was telling people that my valuation of the network put it at a per coin value of around $4,000.  Nobody cared because at the time most of the people in this community had no idea what market caps were.  I recall arguing with people who were saying Bitcoin would go to below a penny and thinking they must be extremely dumb or ignorant to how assets are valued.  Imagine thinking now that a coin facilitating trade in the hundreds of millions per year (yes, even back then) could have a market cap in the low thousands of dollars...
Only a small percentage can read and interpret everything we say. Maybe Bitcoin at that time, which was not widely known by many people in the community, would be as valuable as it is today.

From Bitcoin's journey I can answer that what is needed is the belief that Bitcoin will be the most valuable asset in the future behind the fears that some people have.
If seen and studied further, Bitcoin has provided answers to many people that Bitcoin is the way for those who have doubts about it from various points of view.

No one really knew that Bitcoin could be as valuable as it is today from being so worthless that a large amount could only get you a slice of Pizza.
Furthermore, before the Bitcoin price reached the All Time High (ATH) at $69K which was reached on November 10, 2021, who would have thought it could drop back to $16K.

What we need to strengthen our knowledge about Bitcoin is the belief that Bitcoin is an asset that has a strong foundation even though a limited number of Bitcoins are created.
There is no special knowledge apart from that belief my friend.

The news that Glazer had planned to sell Manchester United had surfaced some time ago but until now the ownership of Manchester United is still owned by them.
The news of the acquisition is circulating again. Now Ratcliffe appears on several media homepages if he plans to compete with Qatari investors and this is the news source I read regarding this.

Some concentrations that occur want the Glazers to release their ownership status at Manchester United which has been led for decades.
Maybe with the change of new ownership it is hoped that it can provide the best for the achievements of the club based at Old Trafford.
You are right, such assumptions have been answered in two other Premier League clubs such as Manchester City and Newcastle United.
it depends on who buys it. if the rumors are true, there will be enough rich Arabs who have shares in big European clubs. and indeed when there is more money at the disposal of the club, it will be good for the future performance of the club. Newcastle bounced back extraordinarily. but right now Man United is not a weak team. even if ownership changes. this could be pretty good for the club in the future. Of course, they will have a bigger target in the future to restore the glory of the Red Devils.
Then what is the vision of the buyer. If the purpose of buying is only focused on making a profit then the hope for change is difficult to realize.
Newcastle United have risen since changing ownership and this season they also did not spend so much money on players but Eddie Howe understands what is needed for the progress of the team even though the owner of Newcastle United has a large amount of funds.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 10, 2023, 02:35:03 AM
Private investors linked to the Qatari royal family are considering making a bid to buy Manchester United soon. It would be interesting to watch one more EPL team being handed over to another middle eastern cash cow. Will EPL turn into a league where the highest spender wins? Like Ligue 1?
Manchester City and Newcastle might be good evidence for your assumptions. But anyway, I was not aware of the news.
I don't know if there is talk out there of planned acquisition of Manchester United by new investors, but if it does and it does happen it will definitely be great news for the fans. The power of money has brought many star players to join the team, this has happened to Manchester City, PSG and several other teams as well.

Can you share a reliable link about it?

1694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will lead the world currency market?? on: February 10, 2023, 01:50:42 AM
Do you think bitcoin will be the leader of the world’s currency market like US dollar in the future?Huh
Governments around the world want to ensure that their currency is a currency that is free to move in all forms of local and global market activity every day even though some countries also use digital currencies to invest.
Bitcoin will go hand in hand with the official currencies of each country such as USD and EUR and I can say that Bitcoin cannot lead the world currency market but Bitcoin can be an alternative.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching children Bitcoin is not in vain on: February 09, 2023, 02:23:10 PM
I think that Bitcoin is good to be known from youthful age. I have noticed that assuming so many of us notice the important of Bitcoin in time we would have all be a partial millionaire if I'm not mistaken of being a full millionaire.
Your closing sentence looks good OP.

It's true that we need to introduce Bitcoin from a young age based on our current experience. There is something that makes me perhaps different from you that I am teaching children how to save and keep their savings safe. The savings I teach are not in the bank but in a small object that I bought. I am also teaching them how to make transactions every time they buy something. The purpose of doing these two things is not to expect them to become millionaires but to be able to buy the things they want. Whether it's toys or other items like clothes.

Teaching Bitcoin to children I think has age categories. If the age is still under 10 years, of course it is not an option. However, what we know about the greatness of Bitcoin such as security and the transaction system is what needs to be taught in a different form when they are under 10 years old.
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Features in Crypto Casinos for the Elderly on: February 09, 2023, 08:48:54 AM
Is there a difference in the features created at a casino for the young and the old?
Modern-day casinos provide a lot of convenience for players who want to play.
To be able to play gambling, the thing that is needed is a deposit. At the deposit stage, account and wallet numbers are provided for those who want to play at crypto casinos.

For your uncle who wants to try switching to crypto casino gambling, you need to explain the basics in detail so that he is not nervous. I think when he receives an explanation from you, he will definitely understand it quickly especially since he is an active gambler.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 08, 2023, 10:54:33 AM
Xavi has succeeded in establishing a pattern with them. Now they just have to work hard to be consistent in every big match considering their flying hours will be even higher in the future if Barcelona manages to win La Liga and return to the big Champions League tournament. The consistency of Barcelona's young players will again be tested by Manchester United in the UEFA European League considering United are in the best form of play so far.
Yeah Barcelona are not playing for this season alone, they will be so happy if they can win the La Liga this season, but it would be useless if they win it this season and next season they are not challenging for it again, so what Xavi is trying to do now is to build a strong and consistent team, to build back the barca of before, and winning the La Liga this season will help them do it. They can still even win a treble, they are top of La Liga, the are in in Copa del rey semi-finals and still in the Europa league. I believe it is going to end up being a good season for Barcelona, and they can continue like that.
The important thing is Barcelona's level of consistency is needed to be able to realize what the Blaugrana wants. In addition to consistency, player injuries also do not occur in the rest of the season. If these two things are far from Barcelona, then that hope can be realized in my opinion.
Villarreal and Manchester United are the teams that Barcelona must face. A win over Villarreal will keep their position safe in La Liga and a win over Manchester United could keep their chances of advancing to the next round of the European League.
1698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 08, 2023, 05:34:39 AM
Pedri and Gavi will be more mature if Barcelona continues to give confidence to Xavi as a coach because the pattern formed by Xavi at this time on young players like them will make Pedri and Gavi not only valuable assets for Barcelona, but will also be valuable assets for the future of the Spanish national team. The same goes for Alex Balde.
<snip>

Xavi needs to find ways to use these players properly. I believe unless they suffer any major injuries they will adapt to the team very quickly. And consistently we will see consistently good performances from players like Pedri, Gavi and Raphinha.

1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoin? on: February 07, 2023, 10:29:38 AM
If for two years fiat is kept in the bank, they keep rotating our money and it looks like it will be profitable because of interest when it is just a wind of heaven sold by them to get customers. If we keep a large amount of fiat, then one day when we need it and want to withdraw it, the bank will make excuses by telling us to come back in the next few days. That's my experience.
Not to mention the decline in value.
Banks can guarantee the safety of their customers' funds, especially if it is a state-owned bank. However, at the same time, the account owner has signed an agreement that the money is used by the bank as capital and the account owner will only receive a fairly low interest as profit sharing. Some people think deposits are very profitable because they make profit every year on interest, but they forget that currency is losing value day by day.
That's true if the bank can guarantee every customer's money. I'm not saying that keeping your money there will make you lose it, but they give you a reason to come back in a few days. Maybe there was something at the time that made them give that answer.
Beyond our discussion, it's better to expect profits on Bitcoin investments than to expect profits from banks through the amount of interest per year.

For some time now I have been making a plan that I will trade on the crypto platform . But I am not able to trade because I don't have enough knowledge about trading. I have no idea how much money is needed to trade or what coins I can currently profit from trading.

But I feel like if I trade bitcoins I might be able to make a profit. First I am going to start this business with a small amount of money. If I can make a profit by trading then I will trade with more money later.
The basics to learn are about the coins you will choose to trade. Learning the extent of a coin's potential will be very useful because it can keep us away from scam coins.
Money comes second in trading activities because without knowing the basics of trading then the money will not give us the desired goal.

The choice of Bitcoin for you to trade is right even though the amount of money you have is limited.
Learn first the difference between other coins and Bitcoin because if we say Bitcoin is the king of coins and the best investment choice, you might not believe it. Learn the history of Bitcoin's journey with other coins.

We are sure you will not be disappointed choosing Bitcoin.
