Also a note on BTC reserves, when you make a buy order it reserves BTC in your account for that order, if you need those funds you need to cancel the order first.

This stops people making orders when they don't have the funds to back it up.

Does this help?

Question on this part actually.  If I have an open buy order that reserves that amount of BTC from my available buying power?   I mean, even at my traditional stock brokerage I can have overlapping orders, it just depends at time of execution if I have margin there.  This will have a profoundly negative impact on liquidity.  Please correct me if i'm wrong.
I do agree on this, I liked it when you could place several buy orders on different shares, you could then be prepared for a lot of good trades and if too many purchases were made the order would simply not go through. I would rather have that you can overlap your bidding, possible not by a infinite amount but by say x2-x3 what you have and when you are out of Bitcoins all the orders you are up go down. Something like that

I have feedback on a thing regarding the new version of GLBSE, when I place a order I get directed to my portfolio, this is quite annoying if i want to place several orders after each other. I know it's a small thing but just wanted to give you some feedback Tongue

So how do I claim my old account back? where do I get this Claim code from?
//DeaDTerra

to feed or not to feed (you), that's the question.
did you try to login to 1.0 version "as usual"?
https://glbse.com/client/glbse/index.html
the popup with claim code is ubiquitous.

once you register in 2.0 the first page you see after creating the 2.0 account as a bold blink link "Claim your account"
that leads to https://glbse.com/portfolio/claim
if you need a guide how to paste the claim code and press enter, you might reconsider using the service

Yea sorry noticed that when I went onto the main page of the site Tongue sorry for wasting you time.

1691  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change New Fee Structure Coming Shortly on: March 23, 2012, 05:21:09 PM
What kind of time-frame are we talking about here? Will this be implemented "soon" as in I will receive my first issue of Bitcoin Magazine very "soon"? Or soon as in by a certain date.
It's going to be pretty soon, I don't work for CxC but I know people that do. So I can't really give out any information about a specific date but I am pretty sure that they have decided a date of when to launch it.

Crypto X Change says they have a new fee structure coming shortly. Any rumors or news as to what that structure will be or when it will be effective?
I have seen the new fee structure and I like it, more then that I can't say Wink

1694  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] MergedMining BTC/NMC Mining Company on: March 22, 2012, 07:55:32 AM
Coola boola, could you explain to this chap why split fees wont really work on a stock exchange (or explain to me why they will).

I don't want to get too far off the topic of MergedMining, but my personal opinion on this (I really don't care much either way) is that the fee should only be charged to 1 party, but not limited to 1 side of the trade.  The person providing the liquidity should be able to make their trade for free.  For example, if I put up a buy order at .15 and a sell order at .16, but the stock is actively trading at .155, I should not have to pay fees when my orders are filled.  The person who chooses to fill the order (buy at .16 or sell at .15) should pay the fee.  This would encourage more open orders and improve liquidity.  Just placing the fee on one side or the other seems to encourage holding or discourage trading, while free trades for providing liquidity would encourage more people to list orders, thereby encouraging more trading.  It would also allow companies to list their IPO without being victim to double dipping (charging to create the asset and then charging to sell the asset).
I agree with this, it seems like a smarter and better solution to make the liquidity taker pay the fee instead of the liquidity provider. I also like the idea with reduced fees for larger volume traders. Btw really good job so far Nefario and I don't think anyone meant to gang up one you more give feedback and try to reach the best solution Smiley

1695  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [116% TESTING] I want your hashing power! "Project #2" on: March 22, 2012, 07:40:16 AM
120% was high because some down time and the like.

Sooner or later we will have to lower the percent down even lower for people who do not mine with us 100% of the time. For people who do mine with 100% of the time we will try to keep you at 116%.

Thanks

Will this involve people that only mine say day/night time only, meaning we do not pool hop but we simply do not mine 24 hours a day?

1696  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: March 21, 2012, 09:20:22 PM
A major item is the inclusion of fees, as in trading fees.
Trade fees will be paid for by the seller, 1%
Default asset creation fee is 8btc.
There will also be dividend fees, when a dividend is paid out, planning 0.5%

Nefario.

I wanted to give my 2 satoshis on this.  I do not agree with the decision to charge a dividend fee.  It is not in the best interests of my shareholders or the users of your site.  It is also not a standard practice for brokerages and I feel it should not be put in place.

I would also like to second this, and I'd say more, but more doesn't really need to be said.
I agree, I would rather then having the fees added in trading/dividends to have the fees when you deposit/withdraw. That way you do not discourage trading and higher volumes, already we have quite big spreads on GLBSE.

@DeaDTerra: same here, pool seems down a lot. Beta testing and scaling I guess (I assume/hope the problem isn't on my side).
Okay good that it's not on my side, Indeed I will just fix so that I have a good backup pool and run on TyGrr pool when it's stable again Smiley

I seem to be having some problems with connecting to the pool using CGminer, when I enter the pool information the program just stands still and nothing happens. I also tried using GUIminer and then it had connection issues, is this due to that the server is down or is it just something wrong with my mining software?

Thanks
