1681  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - a new thin client on: July 11, 2012, 11:20:42 PM
I'm very new to electrum but I like it a lot.  Like the mnemonic to restore your wallet  Cool  but doesn't this always depend on the electrum servers operating?
No. You can always generate private keys from the seed (the mnemonic), as long as you have the source code of the generation process.

but that still depends on being able to download electrum no if you didn't save the source  Huh  If it does maybe make the wallet into some kind or encrypted p2p for downloading the wallet  So making electrum into a clone of the original wallet but instead of sharing the blockchain it shares the electrum wallet download.
If you have the client then you have the source. The possibility of it not being available online AND no one having a client anymore is practically zero. As for the rest of your post I don't understand what you're trying to say.

The rest of my post is about making the wallet act as a decentralised seed for downloading the client.  Or at least every (or some) wallets act as torrent seed on on I2PSnark - (http://www.ghacks.net/2007/06/06/anonymous-bittorrent-with-i2psnark/).  So the ability to obtain an electrum client is taken away from central servers.

1683  Economy / Securities / Re: New charitable fund to help promote bitcoin and other btc accepting tech charite on: July 11, 2012, 10:33:22 PM

Yes correct the one I'm running is broader.  Supporting both bitcoin, lightcoin, namecoin promotion and support.  As well as support tech that may be useful to bitcoin like The Freedom Box Foundation (http://freedomboxfoundation.org/goals/index.en.html) and The Free Network Foundation (http://freenetworkfoundation.org/?page_id=772).  Or other opensource free software or hardware charities that may help the three main alt-coins or anonymous an/or p2p technology charities that accept alt-coin donations.

I'm very new to electrum but I like it a lot.  Like the mnemonic to restore your wallet  Cool  but doesn't this always depend on the electrum servers operating?  Why not make the electrum wallet into a p2p network with all the privet back up keys distributed among the wallets instead of a server.  If this takes up to much resource's for every wallet why not have a fee system set up of 0.0006 transactions fess so 0.0001 eaxtra and a private key recovery of 0.0006% fee of your holdings to be distributed amongst wallet network seed wallets.  I could be wrong about my idea I'm very new to electrum but with needing a dedicated server to back up your wallet wouldn't using a decentralised p2p network instead of depending on the servers be a better idea  Huh  Sorry if all of that just sounds like boulder-dash I'm new to electrum and just though depending on dedicated servers makes it vulnerable to attack and/or shutdown.
1685  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 5BTC bounty for best new website logo. Now a 10BTC bounty!!! on: July 11, 2012, 08:10:48 PM
Remind me why you are the one doing the bounty, and not cablepair directly?

Because I work for him.  He's the one with the money to pay so chooses the winner.
1686  Economy / Securities / Re: New charitable fund to help promote bitcoin and other btc accepting tech charite on: July 11, 2012, 08:06:19 PM

No way not seen that post.  Been thinking about this for a week or two now just finally fought of going through with it.  Maybe I should focus on donating to the btc accepting tech charities like Freedom box and Free network but more coin to bitcoin promotion and development the better I suppose.  There is room for more than one charity trust.  Say one folds the other fund could take it over.  Since they already have the ticker if I can't get a free ticker of Nefrio or raise enough over the next month I'll give whatever raised to them and donate the shares I was going to donate to my own fund to them also.

Also changed it so it also supports litecoins promotion and development now

Reply from the dev who I'm running this bounty for who is choosing the winning logo and paying out the bounty on the CoinConnect site

yes the bounty is 10 btc, but to get the bounty we need to see something really special. These logos are nice but they are too much like what we already have, Think outside the box a little and I bet you will come up with something really special. Thank you for your entries and I hope to see more of your work.

Beat me to it didn't see your post.  I think there is room for more than one charity fund as mine it not solely raising for bitcoin project itself..  If I ever run out of time for my own fund I'll give whatever raised to your fund.  Good luck.

1690  Economy / Securities / charitable fund to promote BTC/LTC/NMC + other btc accepting charities on: July 11, 2012, 06:47:59 PM
Starting a new charitable investment fund on GLBSE.  Where people can donate shares, coins or buy shares in the fund.  The shares will pay no dividend and just offer the right to vote on the funds motions.  All coin donated or shares purchased in the fund profits will be used to buy a spread of high yeilding stocks and bonds on the GLBSE.  90% of the funds profits will be reinvested (to be reviewed as the fund grows in proportion to the exchange market) while the rest will be donated 50:50 between BTC/LTC/NMC promotion and development, and the other 50% to tech charities that accept bitcoin donations that could help proliferate the bitcoin network.   Such as The Freedom Box Foundation - http://freedomboxfoundation.org/goals/index.en.html - and - The Free Network Foundation - http://freenetworkfoundation.org/?page_id=772 -  The 50% used on bitcoin development and promotion will be decided by motion on exactly where it should go.

I don’t have a lot of coin but do have a few shares and some free time to give this.  I offer to donate my time totally free of charge for the first twelve months and until if such a time when running the charity becomes a lot more time consuming.  Then in the future any costs of running the charity will be decided by motion. I will always be keeping 10% of the shares in the fund myself.  The shares pay no dividends and just offer voting rights in the charities motions.   All accounts will be made public.

So can we get the ball rolling to buy the ticker name - 1CcZtRGJK5x2ttW8DQW6S5C1U6DdwUkrw - then once we have a ticker people can donate shares and buy them for or from the fund too.

Also if anyone would like to donate time to make a website or hosting for shares in the fund then contact me.

Disclaimer - No shares will be bought in my mining stock at the moment as I've temporally changed it from dividend paying stock to a growth stock.  Investment would only start into my mining stock after a motion vote to do so.

I will be emailing Nefrio to see if he can offer us a free ticker due to this being a charitable fund.  If he say's yes then donations towards the ticker fee will go on buy the funds first high yielding shares.

To donate bitcoins - 1CcZtRGJK5x2ttW8DQW6S5C1U6DdwUkrw

To donate litecoins - LKQ9ZKKBNHYcPjSkSK2GnkbYb7PeFgnSj7

1691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tip for 24/7 desktop litecoin CPU miners. on: July 11, 2012, 06:08:10 PM
Tip for litecoin CPU desktop 24/7 miners:  Always use 64bit linux OS and when your not using it say leaving it overnight install the Openbox desktop and start the miner from there.  I just did that and pushed my hash rate by over 10%  Cool  Not sure of the effects on GPU mining as I haven't installed Cuda yet.  Also I'm using an old dual core CPU so that might have more of an effect but an increased hashrate of over 10% isn't bad  Smiley
1692  Economy / Speculation / Re: The largest GBP/BTC exchange Intersango at highest price ever on: July 10, 2012, 09:40:22 AM
Intersango GBP price always follows MtGox USD, as every other currency. In case of any difference, users will buy/sell to make it back to normal.

No I don't think every other exchange follows MtGox USD any more.  I think MtGox USD is now following trends and not just setting them.  MtGox market share is down.  GBP market share of currency's is down even tho it's volume is up.
1693  Economy / Speculation / The largest GBP/BTC exchange Intersango at highest price ever on: July 10, 2012, 08:53:56 AM
Over 90,000BTC traded in the last thirty days.

The growth to this spike is a lot more gradual than the January spike so maybe the bubble won't burst.  Where will it be in thirty days >£5 it's looking.  People reckon the block reward drop will send the price skywards and it's getting nearer and nearer.  Looks like it could easily be ~£7 by the new year.
1694  Economy / Securities / Re: Red Star Mining - 40MH/s a share or 1GH/s for under 10BTC post - post ASIC on: July 10, 2012, 05:44:53 AM
So another 1700 shares are going to be issued to take us to 40MH/s a share (1GH/s for BTC10BTC).  I will be taking 5% (85 shares) as payment for being CEO although I won't receive the full payment until the 1615 shares on offer have been sold (I'll probably take 5 shares as payment for every 100 new shares from that issue sold).  If we don't sell the shares offered fast enough for expansion all profits will be saved from mining to buy more hardware.  Until we are operating at 40MH/s a share or 1GH/s for BTC10 then at least 50% - 90% of profits will be saved towards expansion and growth.   The higher the percentage we save for expansion the faster our dividends will grow.

What would be the dividend rate say if I bought 50 shares?

Hi all dividends are at the moment being reinvested until we have made enough through either mining profits or share sales to buy 40MH/s a share or 1GH/s for 10btc of ASIC mining power.  After that time 50% - 90% of all profits (will be decided by motion) will be withheld from the dividend to pay for more hardware to increase the dividend.  I can't tell you at the moment how much of a dividend that will pay post ASIC due to the difficulty change being unknown.  Although it works out like buying and running your own BFL-Jalapeño-ASIC or much cheaper than that if you live outside of the states and have to pay import taxes but with someone else running it for you reinvesting some of the profits and paying you the rest.   Please remember we are not a mining bond but a mining stock meaning your shares buy you an actual share ownership of all our hardware.  They are few shares on offer below our 0.40btc offer if you would like a discount or you can buy privately from the company to help speed up expansion.  Thanks.

No there is no Al-Qaeda the war on terror was to help usher in a police state I do agree but the US government would not use anthrax on it's own peoples or blow up the twin towers.

Out of curiosity, given that Al-Qaeda is the organization that claimed credit for the twin towers, and you claim that the war on terror is a front to usher in a police state, and Al-Qaeda does not exist, who then committed that attack? Because on one side you are claiming "9/11 was a false flag", and on the other you are claiming "But the government didn't do it."

Al-Qaeda as an organisation like the IRA doesn't exist extremist ideology within Islam does.  You can kill political leaders but not an idea.  9-11 was the Islamic extremists bloodying the nose of america for fight.  7-7 in the UK was a response to our response on invading Iraq and Afghanistan.  They can't be beat no matter how hard you hit them as there religion just grows faster.  Also the invasion of Iraq was an absolute crime.  America and the UK have bloody hands and it's just fuelling there ideology.

Why do you think the UK government has stationed over 14,000 soldiers, Surface to Air Missles, an aircraft carrier and 6,000 police in London for the Olympics because they are at war.  Although there is no Al-Qaeda General organising attacks.  I do think the invasion of Afghanistan may have been justified but definitely not Iraq.

Silk Road, InstaWallet or any shared online wallet like an exchange should mix coins for free.
1700  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US government is manufacturing diseases on: July 08, 2012, 08:12:45 PM
The DNA of the anthrax attacks just after 9/11 were linked directly to US military stockpiles. This proves ability, intent, and hints at motive (police state).

And targeting the tabloids was a masterstroke.

Wouldn't they have just generated a new strain that couldn't be traced to there known stockpiles and it wouldn't have been difficult for them to do so.
