1681  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: It appears Mt. Gox isn't dead but rebranding as Gox after 1 month hiatus. on: February 25, 2014, 06:12:13 AM
I suppose gox is well known, the advertising alone / brand recognition must be worth millions
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Due to gox there are circa 500K~1M less coins to buy. on: February 25, 2014, 06:06:47 AM
Whatever coins people though Gox had, are either gone, or not coming back, or out of circulation forever locked up between creditors.

This is going push the price way up when the reality sinks in.
1683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN PoS+ PoW] eXocoin [EXO] - gen 2.0 - developed from scratch! Free Give-Away on: February 25, 2014, 01:55:47 AM
>>>YOUR REASON DOES NOT MAKE LOGICAL SENSE<<<<
...
Even then if a person does not chose to have anon release the coins, he can send the portion back to you (minus his fee) and if exo is that good you will have no problem selling them at nice profit.
...

NO.  this is the definition of a PREMINE.  The appropriate action to handle eXo that was not transfered out of genesis to a legit buyer due to these reasons you have laid out is to recalculate ratios and distribute it out to the pool of buyers.

You....are actually right, because all is happening a the number of exo investors is smaller.....to be complete though would say investors invest through other escrows or directly, anon136 would have to return a portion of exos he hold as a multiplied by the 1/ of his clients total buy in

so total exos' IPO = XBTC, but x = Anon + all others

Percentage of Anon clients decide not to buy in

new IPO value = Anon-not buy in + all others

Anon extra expos would have to be reallocated

exos to redistribute to his members = R1 = [new IPO value x [Anon-not buy]/IPO value]

and give back  R2 =  all others = [all others/new IPO value]

Anos member would receive R1/ split out proportionately,

and R2 also, perhaps administered by exos dev.

However I expect that -not buy in will be small.

It goes the other way as well, of the others that some how don't turn up.

1684  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / crypto password screen keyboard. on: February 25, 2014, 01:23:27 AM
Would it be possible to have the enter password done with a on screen keyboard that can be mouse clicked that transmits the info securely to the client, and the keyboard can randomise the key position.

this way only a realtime screen grab could get a password, no easy feat.

this would make passwords much more secure as keyloggers would be made useless even if on your system
1685  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: watch several addresses from a web page on: February 24, 2014, 11:35:59 AM
Blockchain has already done this Smiley.

Just kidding. But you can grab all the information from the blockchain using the coding languages.

People have already done such stuff, and in forums you can see top 100 balances, or top 500 balances of addresses.

I mean more like to look at any block chain e.g.  scrape bit info charts
1686  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / watch several addresses from a web page on: February 24, 2014, 06:22:21 AM
is there a way to knock up a small web page with some code/ js?

that can grab the balance on several addresses from say bi coin info chart or the block chain?

has someone already done this?

1687  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / account balance not showing up on: February 22, 2014, 11:53:15 PM
After transferring coins to a new address, the block chain show the coins on that address, with many confirms, but they are not showing up in the QT.

I have confirmed the privkeys do generate the public address, by using pywallet to dump the private keys, then adding then, importing the privacy to a fresh wallet and the same public keys are generated again using pywallet.

I dump the prig keys from the original wallet and they match the pywalled dumped keys.

I have down loaded the blk chain on different hardware, and OS's, and the coins still don't show up in the client.

Any clues???
1688  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Choose the new Pywallet name] - Pywallet 2.1.6: manage your wallet on: February 22, 2014, 07:51:34 AM
Hi I am seeking some help

What is the version for LTC addresses?

I found out the 55 is the volume number for PPC.

Also how do you point the pywallet at different block chains.

when you want to check and address e.g. LTC and PPC.

How can you make a transaction with pywallet can this be done?

Thank you in advance.
I think

DogeCoin is volume 30
LTC is volume 48
PPC is volume 55
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: seeing coins on the address in the block chain, but not in client???? on: February 22, 2014, 12:36:58 AM
The typical reason for your problem is that the bitcoin-qt client has not finished downloading the block chain up to the block that holds the transaction. If you are using bitcoin-qt for the receiving wallet, please verify that the entire block chain has been synced.

I can see the block height in the client is far higher than where the transaction went through on the Block

and my current height is the same as the latest block
1690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: seeing coins on the address in the block chain, but not in client???? on: February 21, 2014, 10:58:19 PM
Are you sure you really used the correct address? no typo etc.?

yes double triple check all cut and paste.
1691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / seeing coins on the address in the block chain, but not in client???? on: February 21, 2014, 10:55:49 PM
So I transferred some coins, to  new address I control on a separate machine.

I can see the address in the block chain, and that coins are there, and my client is past the block height, but they are not showing up in the client?Huh

what could this be?Huh

deleted blockchain, and by deleted I mean secure deleted that area.

used bitcoind to download from scratch

its ok now.
1692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just got my LTC QT wallet hacked on: February 21, 2014, 04:05:45 PM
Possible keylogger?

Let me guess. The operating system is Microsoft Windows.

no its osx

it has to be a key logger
1693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Just got my LTC QT wallet hacked on: February 21, 2014, 03:47:55 PM
I just saw 1.99 LTC get taken out of my wallet.

I just upgraded to the latest LTC client, from the beta and made a transfer.

Walked back into my room to see 1.99 LTC being transferred

I have an encrypted wallet, which means they must have seen my password as I typed it....or something else

weird thing is I use coin control and I can see where this coin came from as I have all coins of particle addresses

no located the address

and the from address does not appear in my wallet that I can see?

It does appear to have decrimented my balance though

freaking out now...!

transaction

1699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 21, 2014, 10:36:57 AM
The vibe that I get from this 2Kool4Skewl guy goes totally against what NEM is trying to stand for. According to an earlier post he's an original investor in NXT or got them close to nothing. That probably gives him a lot of power at the exchanges, and after having a taste of that power, he cannot stand the idea of hundreds of people having an equal amount. I mean that's just my personal vibe, after seeing how easy it is to manipulate the exchanges. I cannot even sell NXTs unless I sell it at a cheaper price from somebody wanting to do a quick sell, because if I do it the other way then immediately after somebody post 100NXT at a cheaper price. And with Nem these people would lose such power to manipulate things.

That's just my vibe.

My main concern is that Nem and Nxt have the exact same stated goal: "The creation of a new economic movement."  I full-heartedly support this objective.  I do not believe a division of resources best serves this purpose.

I also don't like to see people giving away their Nxt for nothing, which at this time, is what they have done.  They have given it away for the promise of something in the future.  When I posted "interested", I didn't know that Nem was going to start collecting Nxt and Btc.  I think this collection is unethical, because I can't see anything worthy of a dev fund.

I try to be honest and fair in all my dealings.  My intent is to strengthen "the new economic movement" not destroy it.  I know the true economic movement was started with NXT by BCNext and I will support it to the end.  Remember, I am the one that stated, "Do not mistake us as just another cryptocurrency.  We are a movement."

If NEM has all the functionality of NXT and a better initial distribution it will do better than NXT as a function of that distribution.

I don't think any one can speak for BCNext except BCNext that disappeared in unusual circumstances

see my earlier post on one possibility of what is going on with NXT.
1700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Faster coin Myth put to bed once and for all on: February 21, 2014, 10:19:03 AM
Coin X is faster confirms....than coin Y

NO IT IS NOT.

Confirms are only a measure of security, a very fast times needs many more confirms that a slower coin to reach the same security. Because its easier to fork the block chain

If you watch a BTC transacion you will see a notification that something is coming alms straight away, but after that you wait for confirms.

If you don't believe me, look at the exchanges and see how faster coins often require more confirms, that because they are less secure.

This is true for all Satsohi code base coins out there!!! unless you do some sort of really spiffy latency alto stuff Like carmack did with quake.

as a forumla

security = time  *  speed of confirms * 1/speed of confirms  = time * 1 = time.
