well, since i never heard back from theymos, we're stuck with whoever can prove to us they were 100K. Grin

I was autorefreshing the speculation thread every 5 seconds. Towards the end it was 5-6 views per refresh. It went 99990 to 99996 at which i clicked on the thread. then the refresh was at 100003. If someone has access to the logs this could be verified by ip address which im sure has to be logged somewhere.

so if it is logged how do you prove you are the ip?

16809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: December 11, 2011, 09:03:37 PM
I pledge another 1 BTC for the 100,000 viewer.

And if this can't be tracked in time, we will postpone to the 111,111 viewer or 150,000 ...

WOOO, the bounty is up to... 2 whole BTC!!!   Roll Eyes  Grin

hey, if you believe that 1 btc will be worth >$1000 at some pt soon in the future you'd be all over this.

edit:  since you don't see any value in this, then if you win, we'll give the 2 btc to someone else.  how's that?
16810  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 BTC Reward offered on: December 11, 2011, 09:02:34 PM
I thought I'd better put this up so everyone has a chance at the reward.

edit: BTW, i need to know how to verify who owns the 100,000th view.  any ideas?
Write a counter (db/flat-file backend) and when it reaches 100k, display a random icon/image via the page header.
The user can then do a screenshot and since you know what image should be on it, it cannot be faked.

neither i nor S3052 have those abilities. Sad
16811  Economy / Speculation / Re: $3.20 in one big buy? on: December 11, 2011, 08:59:47 PM
interesting.  so "opened" means the owner ripped open the hologram and moved the btc to another address which theoretically prevents you from "stealing" the coins?

1/3 of 100btc gold bar holders did this and the only 1000btc gold bar buyer did this...

edit:  seems like this would detract from the resale value over time.

This is happening because those bars are getting sold at MemoryDealers as a way for people to buy BTC with credit cards and paypal.

Some non-tech people just don't mind paying 15-20% extra for the simplicity of not having to bother with Dwolla, exchanges, downloading the client and blockchain, backing up their wallet, etc., I guess.

the reason buyers of these bars are cracking them open to tx to their own privately generated addresses at a higher frequency for the higher denominated bars is b/c there are larger amounts at stake if in case you happen to be a criminal, which you're not.

i just find it interesting b/c of the one's i've bought i've kept them all intact as a way to preserve their collectors value just in case i sell them for a higher price at a later date.  i've convinced myself you will not steal their bitcoin value.  if they are cracked open i believe they will sell for less than ones not opened.

do i recall that mtgox owns this forum?  maybe Mag Tux could help us with ID'ing the 100K viewer?
16816  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: December 11, 2011, 07:12:45 PM
we're moving toward that 100K view real fast.  somebody better figure out how to ID that viewer soon.  i still haven't heard from theymos.
16817  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin Sentiment Indicator on: December 11, 2011, 07:06:09 PM
ok.. this sentiment indicator means zip to me currently. How does it work? where is it explained?

i think i've designed it similar to the CBOE Put:Call ratio of index options which is a very simple, but very popular sentiment indicator for the stock market.

its simply the number of bulls to bears.  i should calculate the ratio to be more exact but the poll powered by Vizu doesn't have that capability.  their algorithm also controls how often you can vote which by my observations seems to be around twice a day or so.
16818  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin Sentiment Indicator on: December 11, 2011, 06:44:59 PM
new high at 81.3
16819  Economy / Speculation / Re: $3.20 in one big buy? on: December 11, 2011, 06:42:58 PM

ah, so no speculation involved whatsoever?  this will continue to happen more and more which is the natural progression of a continually improving economy and technology.

if i were a Bear i'd get out of the way.

It'll be nice if the price goes up, but what happens to me will be offset by the fact that I just gave away a boatload of BTC as gifts, so whatever happens will happen to the recipients of the gifts.

If you follow the Uberbills Casascius coin analyzer, you may have noticed a nice healthy jump in the number of 25 BTC coins in circulation.

please link to this.

Nice blog  Smiley
Your right sidebar is like, too wide, or not wide enough or something.  It has annoying horizontal scroll bars.  Maybe it's my browser / resolution.  I'm using the latest version of Chrome.

yeah, since i'm not a coder i signed up for a low cost Weebly acct.  uses templates.  maybe one day i'll get around to using a more formal version.
