16981  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | POOL | COINS on: June 16, 2014, 05:29:45 AM
Currently, miners are paid out each time P2Pool solves a block.  This typically ranges from 12-36 hours depending on the hashrate of the P2Pool network.  We are looking into implementing a PPS payment system that will steady payments for those who aren't comfortable with variance.  That way you can see your earnings and feel comfortable during long P2Pool rounds.  It may also be worth noting that P2Pool is slow to start paying out new miners (to fight pool jumpers), so please give it a few days for your payments to normalize before getting frustrated.  The plus side is that you typically continue getting payments for a day or so after you stop mining on the pool, so it balances out.
Please don't do that...

If people who can't cope with variance want PPS instead, there are plenty of other pools for them to choose from. We know this is a P2Pool group... lets just keep it strictly P2Pool.

=squeak=

While we are going to continue to develop NastyPool and assimilate it into nastyfans.org, the focus of the development is to build on the back of P2Pool.  That will allow us to run as close to a default P2Pool node as possible, so that miners always have the option of using NastyPool as a standard P2Pool node.  However, for those who do want fancy features and fun incentives, we are going to make that option available as well.
16982  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | POOL | COINS on: June 15, 2014, 10:10:33 PM
Does adding hash power to this pool change things for you (for example I point my miners at the pool)

It helps a little.  We use altcoins from merged mining to pay our server costs and keep the pool/website running with 0% fees.  Merged mining has become so popular that we rarely see any altcoins though.  Hopefully that changes as we grow and we are able to generate an excess of altcoins that can be used for cool incentive programs like the lottery.

How often do miners get paid out?

I don't quite understand the P2Pool concept and how it differs from other mining pools... can someone explain?

THIS explains it better than I ever could.  The simple explanation from me would be that it is a decentralized pool that works on open source software.  Which means there isn't 1 person in charge of the pool potentially using miner's hashrate maliciously.  Sort of like how Bitcoin works in contrast to Mastercard.

If I point my miners to the pool will I need to purchase a seat at some point? I ask because the website says I need to within 30 days or my account will be deleted...

It is not a requirement for you to be a NastyFan in order to use NastyPool.  Anyone can mine with us, so long as you use your Bitcoin address as your username.  However, if you want credit for the P2Pool shares that will eventually be used in a lottery incentive program, you will need to have at least 1 NastyFans seat (and eventually you will have to sign the Bitcoin address you are using as your username on the pool, so that we can properly credit your account when the lottery incentive program goes live).  It is correct that if no seat is purchased after 30 days of signing up, your account is considered inactive and is removed (we only want to track signups for active users).

what do you get if you win the lottery? and how often is the lottery run?

Right now we run lotteries whenever we feel it might be fun.  Celebrating a 2-year anniversary currently fit that bill.  I am still in discussions with nonnakip about the details of an ongoing lottery.  We originally thought this would be a great way to pay out our altcoins that are merge mined, but there are other things we may be able to offer as well.  Basically, the more popular the pool, the better the lottery will be.  At this time we aren't generating enough additional altcoins to offer much of anything, which is why this last lottery prize was supplied by myself personally to try and bring some awareness to NastyPool as we begin working towards rolling out new and exclusive pool features.

is this pool run on a server or someones home PC? (sorry have to ask)

It is run on a dedicated server.

Im sure I will have more questions but this is a good start.

I love questions.  Keep 'em coming.
16983  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | POOL | COINS on: June 14, 2014, 09:37:55 PM
It appears to me that to mine Nasty Mining, one must be a Nasty Fans member. Is that correct?

No.  Anyone can mine on NastyPool.  You just need to point your miner at nastyfans.org:9332 and use your Bitcoin address as your username to receive payouts.

If a member, and one is mining Nasty Mining, are all mined rewards paid out to the member or are some automatically retained by Nasty Mining and/or NastyFans?

If you are using a Bitcoin address as your username, 100% of mined bitcoins are paid out to you.

Is mining at the Nasty Mining P2P node same as mining at any other P2P node other than the added benefits of the NastyFans relationship?

No.  Mining on NastyPool (our p2pool node) will track the number of accepted p2pool shares and display this information on the mining tab of nastyfans.org when you log in and select your address.  These accepted p2pool shares will act as lottery tickets for a future incentive program.  There are other benefits that are coming down the line, but for now the lotto tickets and p2pool accepted share counter at nastyfans.org are the benefits to using our node.

Sweet.  I guess that means I own one of these.

I would be interested in knowing the exact number of these double errors compared to the regular error and the non-error coins.

Just purchased this.

I used Casascius full list to figure out that only a few hundred of these double error coins exist.
https://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt

When I send it in for grading, Im going to try and get ANACS to list it as 'Double Error'

Care to post a list of the double error addresses?

If you do start mining, support P2Pool.  Feel free to use our 0% fee node.  Wink

Just point your miner at nastyfans.org:9332 and use your bitcoin address for your username.

BTC in June 2012: 5.7 USD, investing $1.54 in btc:
Doing nothing with it: would yield you 0.27BTC, now worth 157 USD.

It is true that Bitcoin outperformed Nasty Mining.  Bitcoin had an amazing 2 years of growth and was exposed to billions of people.  However, funds invested in Nasty Mining were spent in USD on items that are valued in USD.  In fact, pretty much everything is valued in USD (or your local fiat currency), which is why BTC is valued at the conversion rate at the time of transfer to any real organization.  It only makes sense to value Nasty Mining in USD when comparing it over time.  The performance we've had is astounding, and just because it lags behind the performance of Bitcoin should not take away from that.  We've still managed to outperform more than 99% of the other things you could have spent your BTC on.  Silver for example was $28.50 on our IPO date and is $19.50 now, yet I don't see you trolling silver dealers on here.

Bitcoin 2-year performance: 9,812.2%
Nasty Mining 2-year performance*: 1,341.5%
S&P 500 2-year performance*: 45.7%
Silver 2-year performance: -31.5%

How early in the Monarch que is NastyMining?

4 of the units were purchased within the first hour of sales opening.  The other 5 were ordered over the following 48 hours.

Latest update from BFL.  It appears we may be getting some hashes thrown our way late next week.

Quote from: BFL_Josh
Monarch Update 11 June 2014

We have been diligently working on the Monarch board since the last update. Many tests have been conducted and various component modifications have been made in the interim. The chips on the boards are easily able to achieve 1 TH/s, but the PCBs are not quite yet able to support the power required for that speed. We anticipated that the latest revision would be the final one, but there is still too much heat being retained internally on the PCB. We’ve identified a couple areas that are heat dissipation bottlenecks and have incorporated those into a new PCB revision, which should allow us to reach our projected speed and energy efficiency.

While we wait for the new revision to make it through manufacturing, we now have a supply of boards that do not meet the advertised specs and thus are not suitable to be shipped directly to customers. Although we have no legal obligation to do so, we have made a voluntary business decision to reward customers for their patience and loyalty; with the boards we have on hand or close to being completed, we can deliver between 600 - 800 TH of processing power. We are going to provision these boards in a hosted environment (BFL Cloud Mining facilities) and, as a courtesy to those customers who have been waiting the longest, we will start deploying Cloud Mining in queue order as early as next Wednesday, June 18th, barring any problems. It may be as late as Friday, June 20th before we can get anything turned up and going, as significant setup is required.

When Cloud Mining becomes available to you, an email will be sent informing you how to activate your BFL Cloud Mining. You should check your dashboard starting next Wednesday for the Cloud Mining button to activate it from there. With a limited amount of Cloud Mining capacity available, we will not be able to accommodate everyone immediately, but we will try to provide the ordered amount of hashing power to as many people as we can as quickly as possible. Once the 1 TH boards start shipping out, we will be rolling the Cloud Mining over to the next people in the queue as we fulfill the queue from the beginning with physical boards. This process will continue until the physical board shipments catch up to the Cloud Mining. All orders will be handled in their queue sequence, regardless of product type (600, 300, Mining By The Gigahash).

This will provide the ability to our customers to start hashing sooner than they would if they waited for physical boards to arrive, and is our effort to provide a better customer experience with BFL. As has always been our practice, we make no representations or guarantees as to the results of your mining efforts via BFL Cloud Mining or our physical products.

If we mine for the Lottery using our NastyFans user ID, how do we get payout for BTC shares mined?

You do not get paid for shares mined while participating in the contest.  You are essentially mining for lottery tickets.  The plan is to eventually allow both, but NastyPool development isn't there yet.  If you want to mine on the pool and get your earnings without participating in the contest, you can still do so by using your Bitcoin address as your username.
16995  Bitcoin / Mining / NastyPool Mining Contest! Now Thru June 12th! on: June 10, 2014, 07:24:59 AM
NastyPool Contest Announcement

Anyone who mines on NastyPool (nastyfans.org:9332) from June 10th through June 12th will be entered into a lottery. You will get a lottery ticket for each MH/s you average from midnight June 10th until midnight June 13th. Even GPU miners should be able to earn a lottery ticket and maybe some CPU miners!

When mining for the lottery, use your NastyFans username as the miner username. If your miner is less than 1 GH/s it is recommended to add +5 to the end of your username. This will allow the pool to more quickly recognize the work your miner is doing. Just keep in mind it is limited to NastyFans members. (Of course, for 0.0393 BTC anyone can buy a seat at nastyfans.org and join the fun!)

After June 12th the lottery tickets will be distributed and visible from your NastyFans account. Later there will be a drawing.

The prize? ... A FREE MINTED SEAT!

So get your CPU/GPU/FPGA/ASIC miners fired up for 3 days of Nasty Mining!

I also think the Gold/Silver version is more desirable and should fetch more than the solid silvers.

Incorrect. You probably think that Because you have a Gold/Silver.   Roll Eyes

+1.  I am an avid coin collector and have every silver coin Casascius produced.  The all silver ones are clearly more valuable/desirable.

Would you mind sharing the price the 0.1 coin sold for?  I have several of these I would considering selling, if the price was outrageous enough.  Wink
