Playing against teams such as Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates will only dilute the quality of Nepal. Look at Netherlands. They are getting frequent opportunities to play against the top teams, and as a result they are now performing well even against top teams in ODI cricket. Nepal benefited from playing against India and Pakistan during the Asia Cup. But if they don't get such opportunities frequently, then the quality of their game would go down. What they need is some real support from the ICC. The ICC should make sure that Nepal is not wasted like what happened to Kenya two decades ago. |

In today's 2nd match of Hong Kong vs Nepal team, Nepal team won by 6 wickets. Hong Kong team came out to bat first and gave a target of 94 runs in 19.3 overs. Hong Kong team batsmen got all out today due to bad performance. Nepal team batting. The match was won by a strong performance. Karan KC bowled 4 overs and took 4 wickets with 15 runs. Furthermore the era of Messi and Ronaldo is over in context of European football and now it’s time for Halland and Mbappe because these two will be dominating football for a very long time now.
Both Kylian Mbappé and Erling Håland are in their early 20s. At this point, I don't think that it is the right thing to do when we compare them with legends such as Ronaldo and Messi. And we don't know whether they will dominate the football scene, similar to what Messi and Ronaldo did for almost two decades. What if they end up like Mario Balotelli? He was once regarded as the next Ronaldo. The had a few poor seasons with Liverpool in 2014-16, and finally ended up with Adana Demirspor. They are not a high ranking team for a reason and to get accused of being complacent they have to develop the habit of winning first. They hardly win any matches so there is virtually no chance of complacency.
They were just too casual on the field and looked beat up under the sun. You don't expect such an attitude from the international team. Aha, that's a complicated debate but i doubt if ICC is going to take any action on it, virtue signaling will happen for sure.
My guess is that there is no expectation from the Afghan team back home. Their performance has actually declined ever since they received the test status in 2019. The win against England was the big surprise. So even if they lose all of their remaining matches, they are not going to care. Now coming to the ICC funding, I guess they are safe as long as the BCCI is on their side. Afghanistan's vote is crucial for BCCI, to get the representative elected in different ICC elections. So at this point, it is just the CA, CNZ and ECB rooting for Afghanistan's suspension from international cricket. |

Well.. that is a very strange statistic. If I am not wrong, Bangladesh received full member status in 1999. So the last ODI between these two sides in India occurred when Bangladesh was still an associate nation. I can't remember Bangladesh touring India for any bilateral series during the last 2 decades. So this should be true. I can't really blame the BCCI for this. Why should they invite Bangladesh for any home series? Their performance has remained at the same level as they were in 1999. Even if the BCCI sets up a bilateral, it will turn out to be very one-sided. |

- There might be some relaxation on the 23-year age restriction rule for every team, there is a possibility of full strength team participation but it obviously depends on the individual cricket boards.

The first argument is laughable. First of all, the budget comes from IOC and not from the ICC. And none of the team sports in the Olympics have 6 participants. Dividing three medals between 6 countries (and that too with direct entry for all the participants) doesn't bode well. For comparison Basketball, Field hockey, Handball, Rugby and Volleyball events had 12 teams each, while Football tournament had 16 participants. And none of these events had the direct entry system. There was an Olympic qualifier in place for each of these events. |

No team should be underestimated in cricket because in the match that was played between Netherlands and South Africa in the current world cup nobody thought that Netherlands could beat South Africa. But the Netherlands eventually won by 38 runs.
In this match too, India is not looking down on Bangladesh as Bangladesh has defeated India several times in history and even in the World Cup, India lost to Bangladesh and was eliminated from the knockout stage.
India can't afford to take any of the teams lightly, because this time the tournament format is very unique. Greece had better be ready to say goodbye to their Euro 2024 chance already. Because there is just no way they are finishing the group stage ahead of Netherlands from now on.
Because Netherlands' last fixtures are against Ireland and Gibraltar. Ireland's losing to Netherlands is even going to be in their favour to have another chance to qualify for Euro 2024. Netherlands should be able to win both of their remaining matches. Greece have one last match left against France. I wouldn't even expect them to get one point against France in this one.
Theoretically Greece can still qualify, if they manage to defeat France. And also, don't forget the fact that Greece is ahead of Netherlands as far as goal difference is considered. The next match for Netherlands is against Republic of Ireland, and it is not going to be very easy. Their other match is against Gibraltar, one of the weakest teams in this tournament. If they lose against Ireland and win against Gibraltar, Greece has still a chance to enter the main tournament (given that they manage to defeat France). But then, France is unbeaten so far. |

Well, I wonder what Al Hilal is going to do right now. They definitely have given a lot of money to Neymar, the salary is absolutely incredible. I wonder if they actually are going to do something about the huge salary that Neymar is going to get even though Neymar is injured and will be out of action for a long time.
They do not have too much problem spending money. But at this point, I think it is going to be actually a waste of money. I bet they did not think about this when preparing the contract for Neymar. They just wanted him in the squad at any cost. And looking at the situation right now, it is definitely going to be very costly for them.

If you look at Neymar's salary (€300 million for two years), it is almost at the level of the salary being offered to other star performers such as Cristiano Ronaldo. Since he is injured and out of action, Al Hilal doesn't need to pay most of this amount. But even then, the team will be severely weakened without Neymar. They do have quality forwards such as Malcom, Aleksandar Mitrović and Sergej Milinković-Savić, but no one can fill the void from Neymar. Anyway, the latest news is that he needs to undergo surgery for anterior cruciate ligament injury and that will rule him out of action at least for a couple of months. |

^^ You can't expect to win match when you are dropping easy catches. it was so frustrating to watch them field and throwing was embarrassing, if they were quick on the field then they had at least 2 runout chances as well so they deserve to lose this match.
They dropped Young when he was on single digit and he stitched a crucial partnership with the Rachin (he was dropped too). Then Afghan went to drop 2 more simple catches. Latham and Glenn Phillips punished them for that.
I think they went a bit complacent after the unexpected win against England. Hopefully the shock that they got from the Kiwis should put them back on track. This is a very long tournament and it is going to be difficult to stay focused. But for Afghanistan, it is necessary to perform well this time. A lot of questions are being asked regarding the funding from ICC (especially after the Taliban takeover) and regarding how their test status can be justified in the absence of a national women's team. A poor performance in this tournament will only make things difficult for them. |

If anything, this situation makes me think about the future of the political career of DeSantis. If Trump gets back to the Presidency DeSantis will likely lose his backing and will sooner or later be replaced by a democrat or a Trump sponsored governor.
He committed a major miscalculation by running and not appealing the way his main donors expected, he could have perfectly stayed out the race and keep the Trump support on him, while Trump was still politically revelant.
NPR/PBS/Marist published a poll two days back and it has Biden leading Trump by 7 points when Kennedy's option is given as an independent candidate. The numbers are: Biden - 44%, Trump - 37%, Kennedy - 16%. I am not sure whether Kennedy will end up with one-sixth of the vote on the election day, but it is very clear that he is taking away votes from Trump. Then there was another poll from Yahoo News which was released today, and it shows Biden ahead by 1 point: Biden - 40%, Trump - 39%, Kennedy - 9%. Kennedy has become the biggest headache for the GOP. |

I will say that Brunei Darussalam is not a strong opponent for Indonesia. And for Indonesia, it was supposed to be easy to beat the team which is ranked 191 in the FIFA ranking. But still, it was a good performance from Indonesia. Now it will be interesting to see how Indonesia will perform going forward. And I also have to say that the performance from Brunei Darussalam was pretty bad, to be honest. The defense was absolutely horrible. But at the same time, we cannot expect too much from a team, that is ranked 191.
It is a long shot. Indonesia, as per the rankings is currently the 28th strongest team in AFC. And there are 8.5 slots available from this confederation for 2026 FIFA World Cup. As of now, Japan, South Korea, Iran and Australia are the top teams in AFC, followed by other GCC nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Oman. Iraq is also in the top-10 list. Indonesia got past the first round by defeating Brunei. In the second round, they need to compete against Iraq, Vietnam and Philippines, and all of them are ranked higher than them. |

During this tournament, India was kicked out in the group phase after losing consecutive matches to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Bermuda was the other team in the group, and India managed to defeat them by a margin of 257 runs. And this was the main trigger after which the ICC decided to keep associate nations away from main tournaments (Bangladesh was not an associate back then, but the blame fell on smaller nations).
