1701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wars? on: February 09, 2015, 02:37:58 PM
The drug dealers will win hands down.

Satoshi is on our side, we will win.

You are supposed to 'earn' bitcoins during this period.
So that is no advantage.
1702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Value Is Increasing Despite Price Instability on: February 08, 2015, 11:40:00 AM
In the sense that value = usefulness and similar qualities then yes, Bitcoin's value continues to increase as more places accept it week by week.  Over the longer term it will continues to increase in financial terms also.  I've said it about Litecoin and the same applies to Bitcoin that I'm pretty sure we've recently reached the bottom and the only way is up now.

Incidentally, the author has not worded it well when he says
Quote
Today, the maximum amount of bitcoin available is 21 million,
This will eventually be the maximum ever but today there are only less than 14 million.

They always get it wrong. I've seen lots of new reporters saying bitcoin has an unlimited supply value lol.

They seem to be confusing the divisibility of Bitcoin with the supply.... Cheez.
1703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Study Says - 50% Drop In Cryptocurrency Transactions Will Happen This Year on: February 08, 2015, 11:38:46 AM
Actually, the study doesn't conclude bitcoin transactions will reduce 50%, it says the dollar amount of transactions will reduce up to 50%, which is a major difference.

Here's the study http://www.juniperresearch.com/research/cryptocurrency

You can find articles around the web with the conclusions.

Yup, that is way different.
If people were using bitcoins to gamble and bitcoin loses half its value, the dollar value of bitcoin transactions would reduce by half too.
1704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin cash? on: February 08, 2015, 11:37:30 AM
Bitcoin is not cash, it is gold
Ha, like petroleum/oil is black gold, platinum is white gold, bitcoin shall be the Internet's own gold.

Internet gold or fool's gold?  Tongue
1705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Patents on: February 07, 2015, 02:39:06 PM

Sometimes, it is amazing how stupid people can be.
1706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: everyone... please contact mcdondolds and ask them to accept bitcoin on: February 07, 2015, 02:37:43 PM
huh doesn't the B in to logo stands for Big Mac.  Roll Eyes

Hell, if they are smart enough , they could advertise it as the BTCig Mac Tongue

It would get them some free publicity, at least in the short-term.
1707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you leaving? on: February 07, 2015, 02:36:37 PM
I have been in to Bitcoins for more than 3 years now. Yes... I have seen people leaving... but it was mostly as a result of being conned or having their coins stolen.

Same here. heard people leave because they had their coins stolen, but no one because of the price swings.

I still dont know how ppl r getting their coins stolen.. Use offline wallets guys..if u have a big amount of money.!

It depends on the number of transactions you make per day.
Using offline wallets can be painful if there are a lot of transactions to be processed.
1708  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you earn money online? on: February 03, 2015, 11:42:37 PM
online shop and playing video game.

usually people pay to play video games(buy console and games and accounts), not the other way around

(let me know if I'm wrong)

for betas they pay if you lucky one and they gave you a copy of game after

Problem is get a beta tester position.

It is not a job you can find announced in the papers

Yes, it is a job I wouldn't mind doing.
1709  Economy / Speculation / Re: I give up on: February 01, 2015, 05:32:39 AM
Yup, I will wait till the next halving of the block reward in 2016.
Let us see where the price goes from there.
1710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you ready for the Bitcoin catapult? on: January 14, 2015, 12:57:12 AM
Sure. The price is dropping fast. That just means that elastic band is being pulled back harder and harder... until... Bitcoin is sent to da moon!

Just gotta catch that falling knife - so much fun!  Tongue

It has been dropping for over 6 months now.
I hope the catapult doesn't break.  Tongue
1711  Economy / Speculation / Re: Have the exchanges spent the fiat? on: January 14, 2015, 12:55:43 AM
Unconfirmed reports that certain exchanges have "temporarily" halted withdrawals.

I guess no regulation = no fines, no prison sentences, no consequences...

No regulation does not mean that you cannot be hauled up over a civil case.
1712  Economy / Speculation / Re: is anyone else as stupid as me to still hodl? on: January 14, 2015, 12:53:56 AM
Oh, and someone tell me again, whats the reason for this crash?  Roll Eyes

Bitstamp controls the price of the item that they need to buy to make up for their hacking loss.

Is anyone really surprised?

If you can control the price of something that you need to buy...what would YOU do?

How can they control the price? Aren't there other exchanges as well?
1713  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you are waiting for the "despair phase" to buy like in 2011 consider this on: January 14, 2015, 12:52:49 AM
yeah I don't think tulips solved the byzantine generals problem or could be configures easily as a trustless distributed network. But hey that's just me.

Solving the Byzantine generals problem is a pointless when you have no armies.
If you're impressed with trustless distributed networks which manage to solve it, there's a whole bevy of >>>/altcoins/.
Enjoy "investing" in them.

If I'm not being clear, I'll spell it out:  No one but a handful of paranoid libers *care* about money being decentralized.  Normal people just want money that
1) Is simple to use
2) Is accepted everywhere
3) Doesn't lose 75% of its buying power a year.

Bitcoin fails all three.  So now you're in the know Smiley

You are looking at Bitcoin at a point in time. Think of the potential. Smiley
1714  Economy / Speculation / Re: will you dump at next spike? on: January 14, 2015, 12:49:32 AM
$220 now.

$300 seemed to be a very strong support a week back.
1715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't invest in Bitcoin until August 2015 (at least) on: January 14, 2015, 12:48:15 AM
We are just crossing the peak right now?
That feels horrible.  Cry
1716  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-01-10] Businesses like Microsoft Dell, and Expedia say they accept bitcoin on: January 12, 2015, 05:31:10 PM
Exactly. As long as the bitcoin payment option is there, it means they recognize the demand. A fairer spin would be just to point out that because of its drop, it would be a risk to keep it (not to mention that, as Patrick Byrne pointed out, they couldn't pay suppliers in Bitcoin), instead of writing an entire article stretching that one statement.

That is a very interesting way to put it - they couldn't pay suppliers in Bitcoin.  Smiley
1717  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Theories of why BTC is restricted in China and Russia on: January 12, 2015, 05:16:52 PM
They still lack of the security (got hacked for example)
so both of them doesn't want to let their people got suffer because of it

You seriously think Bitcoin has been restricted because these governments don't want their people to suffer?  Grin
1718  Other / Off-topic / Re: what do you do when your bored? on: January 12, 2015, 05:06:50 PM
I usually login to bitcointalk.org  Grin
1719  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you can get a wife from another country - which country wife you choose ? on: January 12, 2015, 05:05:33 PM
Russian.
I can only fantasize.  Smiley
1720  Other / Politics & Society / Re: America Has Rotten Government on: January 12, 2015, 05:02:54 PM
Actually, the United States Government of America is approximately the best government. If the people don't like it (the government), all they have to do is change it. We are even seeing the way that individuals can make some of the best inroads for effecting such change personally and individually - http://1215.org/ and http://www.broadmind.org/.

So, it is the people who are not changing the government. It is the people's fault. Few other governments have the method for the people to peacefully, individually and firmly make changes to their government, based on the courts.

When we want change, let's simply get out there and make change. Until then, let's learn how.

Smiley

It might be the people's fault, but that doesn't change the fact that the Government is rotten.
While other countries may have governments which are worse, we definitely can do better.
