I can't even get a response from them via email about my refund.  Perhaps I will try calling tomorrow.

Asking price lowered to $275.

These reference style 7970s?

I have a reference, and 2 non-reference cards available.
17003  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-04-02 Xerox Experimenting with Bitcoin on: April 08, 2014, 10:36:27 AM
I worked in the finance division at Xerox for quite some time.  I actually pitched the idea of using Bitcoin to save on international transfers to the high level executives back in early 2012.  Interesting to see them opening up to Bitcoin now...

I've requested a refund via email over a week ago for my order and have gotten no response.  I opened a ticket on their website and they closed it with no response.  Has anyone managed to get a BTC refund from them?  How long did it take?  What method did you use to get a response from them?

A member ask me about the count of fans we have in nastyfans. I decide to publish this data. Maybe other members have interest also.

Cool.

New firmware : https://www.dropbox.com/s/gnt2hnf9e0fz0aa/LAG3355_12-RC10b.bin
Flash it using the update page.

List of changes with the new firmware?

Works with most, if not all other pools.

Confirmed that it is working for me on GHash.IO which did not work with the prior version.  I was able to install with no issues.

I've also fine tuned my miners individually with the highest frequency that gave off no HW errors and am now getting ~7.6MH/s with 21 miners.  Thought the results might be interesting to some.

EDIT: Had to lower the frequencies a bit after 12 hours of mining to eliminate HW errors.  Now getting ~7.2MH/s with 21 miners.

Yeah it's hard to do due diligence

Of course it's hard.  If it were easy we would all have Warren Buffett's bank account...

What I mean is that there's no public information to analyze - a website if you're lucky. There's no financial records to pore over like balance sheets, earnings reports, etc.
Due diligence is a lot of work but in these cases it's hard to even attempt it.

If there is no information or transparency, do not invest your money.  Here's some advice I was told when I first started trading securities...  There is one fool in every trade.  No shame in being the fool if you know you are the fool and accept the trade anyway because it brings you closer to whatever goal you have.  Blindly entering a trade having no idea who the fool is will lose you money every time.

But not before getting buttraped.
The talk about "due diligence" is just talk -- the whole thing breaks at the weakest link, like a trusted exchange folding and *poof*, so much for due diligence.
Which shitty stock have you got to sell?

Due diligence is not just talk.  It's a requirement before investing unless you want to be raped. If the exchange is the weakest link, then use decentralized exchanges.  I have no interest in selling you anything, nor do I need to.  I'm simply tired of kids throwing money at users who haven't proven themselves with no due diligence and then bitching at the system because they lost their money.  Take some personal responsibility for your actions.  Without due diligence you will be raped investing on Wall St as well.  There are always sharks in the water regardless of which ocean you swim in.  Learn to look before you leap.

Any idea what is happening here:
http://wafflepoolmonitor.com/index.php?address=18yNxBAY4KcGtvDcbda1e8AUJv2gMYptkh

I've restarted everything a couple times now and as far as the controller is reporting, it seems normal.

Maybe a hard reset for the miners and TP-link would help. I was getting a similar problem when it would restart every 5 minutes. It went away when I backed off to 850 from 887. You can also try changing the interval for the 'Restart dead miner' setting.

A hard reset was the first thing I did.  I'm already running at 850 and the controller is reporting a decent accept rate.  Currently it's showing that it's been hashing away just fine for over an hour.  Quite a difference from what the above link is showing.  The disconnect is concerning.  I guess I'll keep doing hard resets and hope one of them solves the issue.

It's a shame how bad due diligence led to an entire group being described as "worth exactly nothing."

There are a few needles in that haystack.

To be fair, there are a few buttraping rabid elephants in that haystack too.
Along with all of those dirty needles.

Luckily, for those willing to do their due diligence, it is easy to spot the difference between a needle and a "buttraping rabid elephant."

Here is the "official" escrow list.

Bookmark it.

Thanks! New members should use this list as an escrow list. There you can give a trust!

That list isn't exactly up to date.  Several of the people listed on there are no longer available for escrow.  Do your own research.

Will it ever be updated?

I sent an email to him, but that is a pretty old list so I sort of doubt it.

Here's a more recent list, although updates are needed as well:

no, what I mean is if they are buying their own shares, why didn't they buy all of their own shares?  why only buy a fraction?

Why would they buy them?  That would've been like Pirate investing his personal funds in his ponzi...  I think you misinterpreted what I meant.  I was insinuating that they had to continue spending money to keep people buying the shares.  Once outflows passed inflows, it was game over.
17017  Economy / Securities / Re: I'm done with Bitcoin Securities... on: April 03, 2014, 11:03:42 PM
Perhaps scam is a bad description.  It was obvious that the operation was a money furnace and of course you would waste money on advertising after the IPO.  You don't think all those shares were sold to investors do you?  They needed to appear legit to continue dumping their own shares after the IPO.

If that's the case, why didn't they sell out?  They still had a ton of shares that didn't sold, and they certainly had enough coin to buy them all.

Maybe the demand wasn't there to sell out and they had better plans for those coins?

I only ever had one escrow deal with JohnK, and yes, he paid from the same address we sent to.  To be totally honest, I had no idea he was gone.  Is there a thread link somewhere?

There are several threads about it.  His main thread is a good place to start.

I'm shocked that even in hindsight people don't see the signs...  Reputations are earned through time and honest dealings, not with identifications and promises.

Doesnt guarantee a thing. Dont you remember the 'why I trust Patrick Harnett" threads,  Pirate had the top rating on OTC, and have you seen JohnK lately? If a contract isnt enforceable by legal means, you can bet on getting scammed sooner or later.  AM may be the proverbial exception that proves the rule. So far.

Well, common sense has to play a role as well.  Is there anyone who thought Patrick Harnett & Pirate were doing honest dealings?  I certainly hope not.  Pirate came out and said not to trust him several times as well as hinting that he was engaging in illegal activity.  Even TradeFortress' lending site didn't pass the sniff test.  I also suspected ukyo & graet were trying to get rich playing the spread between their loans and the ones TradeFortress was brokering and thus kept a close eye on them selling off my stake as soon as they became unresponsive.

I don't see how Neo was an 'obvious scam'. If i was going to cut and run I wouldn't waste a load of money on office space, employees and newspaper and TV advertising after the IPO was closed. A flawed business plan possibly but a scam from the start, I don't see it.
