USB miners always work at Diff 1, so I don't know why you're trying to change them...
What? We are talking about the workers diff... Mine just happens to be using 43 USB miners and the pool now has the workers diff set at 9

where are u seeing this diff of 9? at your My Account page? or u are staring at the output from cgminer/bfgminer etc?
if it isnt on your account page, then u need to minimize that window and stop nit picking, u r gunna die of old age
show where I was nitpicking anything?

I see that worker difficulty now adjusts automatically, regardless of the difficulty set through the web interface. Has this been discussed already?

I noticed that as well. It seems to make for even larger swings from block to block on my payouts but sure it all evens out.
What has your change been like? I mean, if it has made remarkable change in payouts. Previous diff, current diff?
Like I said I think it all evens out. I am running at 14.5GHs and when I first restarted the miners I notice the worker diff was changing and running as high as 14 but is now holding steady at 8. My pay outs per block range from the .007's to .005's:
(...)

I think diff 8 is quite good for your hashrate, isn't it?
Yes, the variance in your rewards per block is a bit higher, but Slush had to do something to preserve the pool performance and bandwidth in the current situation of increasing hashing power. I'm afraid not all ASIC users had manually set their diff accordingly...

What has your manually preset difficulty been like?
Yes I am not complaining at all..just posted my observation. To be truthful I was only mining at 10 GHs until just a few days ago , but I still had my diff set at 1 as it still is now but I know that the pool is now adjusting  it automatically. I played around with my workers diff a couple of times but always ended up putting it back to 1. I do understand why the pool is doing it as the pool hashing rate has jumped up so much.  I have another 13 usb miners coming today so once I restart the miners again I am sure I will see the workers diff change until the miners average hash rate settles in. Not sure if this will be my last buying of the USB miners as it seems I can't not mine enough coins to keep up with it all, heck the pool is now  pushing close to 60GHs.

now that was funny...still waiting here, but they are being shipped today and getting a whole .03btc savings each

Ghetto cooling duct here again.

Hard a go are re-flowing the solder on the USB hub that had about half the sockets not working and gave it a +5V power trace augmentation, but I think I may need to replace the sockets.  Or wait until I have a reflow workstation (thank your element14 Father's Day specials).  Also ran into problems with comms errors, decided I should measure the +5V at one of the miners, it was down to 4.90V at the miner, with 5.16V at the PSU, so I adjusted the PSU voltage up to 5.4V (5.06v at the same miner), and the comms errors stopped.  Two more hubs on their way from DX.com for modification (along with some 3300uf 16V caps to repair an ATX PSU with a 45A 5V rail), though I may just get a 5V 30A supply instead, since the voltage can be adjusted up to compensate for ohmic losses.

Why don't you just buy hubs that work?

They cost more money but in the time you're waiting for new hubs and re-soldering them you could be mining.
I am trying to get away from the high hub cost. Most that buy the Acker hubs cost about $60 each so they have a cost of $120 to run 20 miners ( $6 per port).  I have about $8.50 x 3 hubs+ $30 PSU + $15 barrel connectors = $70.50 and am running 25 miners. Using cheap 10 port hubs, 5v 20a PSU I have my cost below $3 per port. This may not seem like a big deal until we all start to run 100 USB miners and a person having to find enough outlets to plug all those wall adaptors into.

Am I the only one that is not able to connect to the pool right now? On minepeon, it says that its is currently unavailable/dead.

Been working fine for me.

On another note, Diff did go up @30% again. It seems to me we always have a few bad days of luck once it goes up for some reason.

I myself have a 5v 40A PSU running 30 USB miners on some cheap 10 port hubs and am adding more hubs when my next 13 come next week. once I max out this 40A PSU I do have another 20A unit ready to go. just was wondering how others are handling large amounts of USB miners.
How do you setup a PSU to power a hub instead of the AC adapter?

Here is the 40A 5V PSU I am running http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDJW76Y/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then I am running cheap 10 port hubs (about $8.50 each on Ebay) http://www.ebay.com/itm/360671869028?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Then ordered Barrel plugs to power the hubs from the PSU http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/27-5990&green=2080D86A-1E61-5ADA-0A80-D4A5A758D0D2which I cut down to about 2ft in length.

So far I have 4 hubs running and will start to fill them up and add another hub when my new miners come next week. Will see how it all works out when I start to max things out. But with the cost of the PSU at about $35+hubs at $8.50eax4=$34+ the barrel plugs at @$5 each x4= $20 I have $85 in running my 30 USB miners right now and should be able to run another 45 more only by adding a few more Hubs and barrel plugs.

Update: I forgot that I do have a couple of these fans running to keep the miners cool:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XN24GY/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

may be workable at 6 sticks a fan   with 10 hubs you would be okay with 60 sticks.  long term 24/7 365.

if you get that psu to run  75 sticks and a few fans longtime I would be impressed with the quality of it.   60 sticks = 150 watts 4 fans = 10 watts that is 160 watts out of a 200 watt psu.  that is about the limit for long term use.

 still 20 hubs = 170
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360671869028?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

2 psu's = 70
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDJW76Y/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

20 wires = 20
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S7AQF4/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you would be at 250 usd  for 120 sticks and 0 overload issues.

I forgot the fans  so 300 usd for 120 sticks and no overloading.  possible that you could do 7 sticks and a fan which would be 140 sticks and no overloading.

let us know how it holds up with more sticks per hub and per psu.
Thanks philipma1957 for your input. Others have been maxing out these hubs with out a problem and a person can just solder the power wires direct to the hubs to help lower the cost instead of buying the barrel plugs. The PSU can be had cheaper but I bought this one due to the internal fan that it came with. I have 13 more USB miners coming next week and will see what happens. I may very well stop at 60 on this PSU as you suggested.

Thanks for the quick delivery!!
Kind of wondering how your running so many at a time... what kind of set up do you have?

that's like 27 usb hubs required. dam. another £30 to £45 per hub or are you selling them

I send payment for 5 units allowed by my coupon 0.1 coupon (.5 btc) and send a shipping label as instructed in the OP.
I get a PM saying I need to send 0.15 btc per coupon and that the cost is 0.15.
Why is the cost of a 0.10 coupon 0.15 when shipping has already been paid?
This is a total scam!

Do you work for free? The miners do not package  or drive themselves to the PO!

So why the big fuzz that i have found a block in my statistics lol?

well, you can be happy that you became a part of the bitcoin history Smiley

I have still zeros by all my workers. :-(
When there is a non-zero number, will it become clickable and linking to the list of found blocks?
I have found 1 block, it was the second day after starting up my first 10 USB miners. The block number that shows under my workers is a hyperlink to the block.

1740  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: August 11, 2013, 02:43:09 PM
A work in progress:

These are the 7-port hubs from MCM.  As you may have already noticed, these are just the generic hubs from China that's all over the Bay and sold dirt cheap albeit with less capable AC adapters. All MCM did was couple the hubs with better power units and marketed them.  I could have done better and further reduced the per port cost if I had put them together myself but I was in a jam as I was expecting more miners to arrive in a couple of days and I only have so much USB ports on my rigs.  I had to pony up for a 2-day shipping and for the applicable sales tax though which added a little to the per port cost but it's OK because I already ROI'd those extra expenses.  Smiley

MCM's site specified that the AC adapters are 5V 2.5A.  I then called tech support to verify the specs.  The gentleman literally called their warehouse while putting me on hold and came back on with the good news that it is in fact, a 5V 3.5A.  Here's a confirmation:

It supports seven miners with no issues; tested it for a few hours.  With all seven BEs hashing, the power units get very warm (an optimistically good indication that the internal heatsinks are doing their job of dissipating heat through the case) but one could still touch them for the longest time and not experience any burning discomfort.

The seven BEs registered 21W AC off the wall on a Kill-A-Watt while mining (100% load or thereabouts).  That's 3W AC for each miner.  Based on the BE's specified rating of 2.5W DC, that puts the AC adapters' efficiency at around 83% at 100% load; at 50% load (peak) it would probably be at least 85% efficient.  That's impressive for a wall wart.  If I'm not mistaken, this falls within the 80 Plus Bronze category.

I'm expecting a few more miners coming in on Monday and I intend to max them out and populate the two rear ports on each of them.  Here they are in action:

http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/visdude/media/MVI_0076_zps911be64e.mp4.html

My question is how are you connecting  all the hubs together? daisy chaining from one to another? or thru a empty hub?
