1721  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: I believe my wallet may be compromised, what should I do?!?! on: September 30, 2014, 01:09:56 AM
When I first started using Armory, I was fascinated by the idea of paper wallets, keeping my Bitcoins safe from internet thugs.

However, I made too many physical copies of the paper backup of my wallet, including one that I may have left in a hotel room, and two copies which I may have dropped on several occasions while shopping for groceries.

How can I protect my Bitcoins?

Create a new wallet, make new backups, and send all your coins to it.  Then all your old backups are useless.

Also, if you want to have both redundancy and security, I recommend exploring the fragmented backup feature.  Do 3-of-6, then losing two of them won't compromise your wallet (though at that point you might want to cycle to a new wallet, but at least you won't be at risk).

I just looked up the fragmented backup feature. It seems to be a variation of Shamir's secret sharing scheme. Very impressive. I'm liking it a lot.

1723  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Australian Govt. form asks if I own any Bitcoin of Cryptocurrency on: September 30, 2014, 12:34:21 AM
I recently had a brain tumor removed and I had my right side Balance hearing mechanics removed, I am applying for disability until i recover.

Filling out the form I came across the question "Do you own any bitcoin or cryptocurrency"

Comments?

Why don't you create a brainwallet, and send the funds into that wallet. Then archive your old address.

Brilliant plan

I pay zero fee TXs all the time and they get confirms.
The Constitution only applies to the government.
Nobody is armed forcing you to pay TX fees.
ARMORY forces me to pay the ridiculous fee!
Don't use Armory then.
Even Bitcoin-qt forces it, or so I heard

Or if you have the skill, download the Armory source code and remove the fee requirement.

Are you serious? That is so--

Wait a minute, I can hire someone in the services sub-forum to do that for me

If this is true and such form exists, its very silly. If the person aswers No, how would someone be able to check if he is telling the truth?

They'll make them pinky promise

True, but paying at least a  small txn fee helps the protocol.

How? The protocol says I don't have to pay a fee for my aged coin TXNs to be relayed.

Try paying a satoshi to one of your alternative wallets with a 0.00000000 BTC fee

We are FORCED to pay a tax upon every transaction, and they say Bitcoin doesn't have any taxes? That's just pure crap. Taxation is unconstitutional theft via armed extortion. In Bitcoin's case, it's unavoidable, and is without the armed extortion (YOU ARE FORCED TO PAY).

1732  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: September 29, 2014, 10:12:00 PM

Im glad they deserved it, im shock that people in the first were willing to wait over 3 months for preorders in the first place.

since it was a U.S. based company it gave consumers the false sense of security that we would not get scammed (speaking from my own experience).  i remember ordering a jalapeno when it made $12-20 a day, and receiving it when it made .30 cents a day.  that was $300 down the tube.  i hope there is a class action i can be a part of.

i hope these BFL bitches end up in a gladiator school and not a club fed prison.  BFL employees better practice making shanks. Grin

He'll just fly to Italy again

1736  Other / Off-topic / Re: I read somewhere that Bitcoin miners solve math problems on: September 29, 2014, 01:22:49 PM
Heres a problem. A full day comprises of a day and a night. If a day is 24 hours, and a night is 12 hours, a day is therefore 36 hours, but before it was stated that a day was 24 hours, so a day has to be 36 hours, and a night is 12 hours, so a day is now 48 hours. Keep going and a day is infinite.

That's deep! You win 100k Satoshi!

Bob Dylan was the first white man to use the word "nigger" in a folk rock song in the 21st century
