This is why monotheistic gods are beyond the scope of empirical study. A space teapot/FSM, however, is not. Point the Hubble towards the sun's orbit and you will conclusively be able to determine whether a teapot exists there (same goes for FSM). And I'm not specifically talking about the Christian god. I don't belong to any religion. I'm mostly going by the "omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent" definition of God which I find to be most common. The word monotheism comes from the Greek monos, which means one, and theos, which means god. Thus, monotheism is a belief in the existence of a single god. Polytheism, is the belief in many gods. Neither definition specifies whether such gods need be "omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent" as there is no need for them to be as such. Therefore the teapot and FSM do qualify as being monotheistic gods in this respect. Also, there is no need to liken the FSM to the teapot, just as there is no need to liken either of them to any other gods any more than there is a need to make any comparisons between Buddha and Allah. It was your choice to do so, but it was incorrect to assume it necessary to define any of them. Therefore I'd just like to reiterate, that the teapot and FSM are indeed monotheistic gods. Now if you like you can argue that they aren't as impressive as an "omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent" god, but that in itself does not make them any less valid, just less appealing to worship. Looks like Russians are just stealing stereotypes that were pioneered by Alaskans, Canadians, Finns and Swedes. By the way, Alaska is a former Russian territory. Finland used to be a part of Russia for more than 100 years. Canada has many descendants of people who moved from Russia in the end of 19 century. Early Medieval Ruthenian culture did not exist until the Rurikans (Swedes) came in. Russia took its' culture from Sweden But that early culture was completely supplanted when the Golden Horde hanate invaded from the east and gave Ruthenian culture two options: submit or die. Russia, unlike Ukraine, submitted, and for centuries its culture came from Mongolia. I suspect most of the sweede had gone from it by the time they became independent again. Sorry, what  ? Ukraine? The Ukraine did not exist at the mentioned time yet. Not speaking that Russia have never been conquered by Sweden (yes we had a war, but actually it was a war started by the whole Europe against Russia), what happens when some nation invades into the territories of another nation and stays there for centuries? Kids get born. Then tell me, why there is no even slight trace of the genes typical for Mongolians among people populating Russian territories? Not at all. It's official. I have found god!  Well, at least one that I can say I believe in with as much faith as any other one. I am a Pastafarian convert now. I just wish I had known about this religion before I got my new driver's license photo taken, so I could've worn the proper religious headgear. (aka - a colander)  I was sold once I learned Heaven is a stripper factory inside a beer volcano! (Hell is the same except the beer is stale and the strippers have STDs. LOL!)
