Finland used to be a part of Russia for more than 100 years. Canada has many descendants of people who moved from Russia in the end of 19 century. |

Finland used to be a part of Russia for more than 100 years. It was autonomous province. Finns had their own constitution, government and the parliament. |

I think you'll be surprised but Russians had the Republican form of government a long time before Swedes or any other nation in this region. Republic of Novgorod and Republic of Pskov both were well developed democratic states with separated executive and judicial branches of power. |
