cool beans.   interested if you see the same results as I.

Alot of my "what to mine" factoring is what % of pool hashrate I am and how much that algo makes/mo....   adds clarity to profitability; and shows how much luck can influence on that algo.

For some reason im not seeing anything from that wallet address....   sorta cornfusing... blank wallet page with no graphs...   odd.

JK -- do you still maintain your ccminer auto-switch-algo scripts?

Yeah.

I need to update it for any algos removed by the pool, but afaik, they are current and good to go.

If you hit any major road blocks, I'll help.

I also suggest the manual mode batch script I have posted via the link in my sig.

There are links to all of the releases of the miner apps I am using in that thread, and the linked original batch post.

yeah.... see;  thats what irks me about the os packages;  most of them only keep a narrow slice of what's available algo-wise.    Understandable considering how many ports/forks of different miner apps getting different results.

FWIW, I am running it pretty simply:

Code:
ccminer.exe -a skein -o stratum+tcp://skein.mine.zpool.ca:4933 -u 1PHSDYvVp6HpqtuUPocK41DrdeHbbezaeP -p i7-920-GPU,c=BTC,skein,stats

You can run at a much higher intensity and get some more hashrate (default intensity is 20 I believe):
Code:
ccminer.exe -i 26 -a skein -o stratum+tcp://skein.mine.zpool.ca:4933 -u 1PHSDYvVp6HpqtuUPocK41DrdeHbbezaeP -p i7-920-GPU,c=BTC,skein,stats
In the password field, you can see how I added a miner name to it.  it does nothing poolside.  Selected my payout coin, algo(s) I am mining (only skein), and enabling stats to be saved by the pool about the card(s) in the system.

*edit* to add clarity:  the password field is to select payout type, algo(s) being mined, and any other poolside options that may be available such as device stats.

for multi algo batches, you would add each algo to the password field that the pool can select for you to mine. If you mine more than one, set retries to 0 on command line (via '-r 0' flag), and when the server wants you on a different algo (thats selected via pw field) then it sends a stratum disconnect and the batch tries each algo in the loop till stratum lets the connection go through.    This part really confuses people about the multi-algo pools.  Hopefully I extrapolated enough.

ccminer 1.7 tpruvot

If you choose a payout in anything but BTC;  you have to wait for enough pool earnings to make payouts to people requesting that coin in return.

If I can help you at all, LMK.  My batch makes mining different algos simple on zpool, as well as you can view miner stats via the webpage wallet page (same as link I provided above).

Phil;  Do the spot math on skein coins on a multipool vs. ZEC... (for instance I use zpool)....

(1080 hashrate) X (current zpool Skein profit/Mh)
485*0.00586 =2.8421mbtc or 0.0028421 BTC...

Are you making more than that with ZEC/day?  Everytime I switch to equihash coins, my profitability graph for the day is less....  skein has been pretty profitable for me.  Especially since my hashrate ends up being 10-30% of pool hashrate, and that algo typically pulls in more than 1BTC/mo......

Also this is factoring in that I don't need to exchange my earnings;  I am paid directly in BTC.  Pool covers TX fees.... Win-win right there.

I haven't found a reason to switch back to even Lyra2 ever since its fall in profitability several months back.  My profitability over the last 2 months (rolling total) still is increasing....   (Usually was at 0.15BTC/2 months.... now its over 0.319 every 2 months) Click here to view the page I am referencing data from

crackfoo,

Any way you can add 24 hour earnings to the graphs/readouts?   I.E.  I want to be able to see how much was earned in the last 24 hour period.  It would be a lot more useful data to me than just the payouts in last 24/hours....   I've always had to eyeball/estimate what the 24 hour earnings were to compare daily profitability on the fly.... as payout info lacks a bit of accuracy to the figure I look for Wink

our audio/video production company burned through 8 of them in the matter of 6-8 months.   They would fail in an odd way;   all the sudden once the driver loads the machine crashes hard.   Worked fine in legacy mode.

They were less than 3 years old (less than one) by manufacture date alone;  Same failure on all the cards.  RX280 models... And yeah;  they ran hot as sin;  but when you look at what generation chip and how much juice they pull.... understandable.  Reminded me of the GTX480's.

You need to know who made it, and what model it is as there are several titan variations..  Be sure to download the correct rom.

For the last 5 years, I have not run virus protection.   On many machines it can eat up a LOT of system resources and compute time unnecessarily.

In 10 and 7, I always disable defender as well.  I know what some will say;  and frankly, I don't care... lol.   It works for me, and I have yet to get bugs on machines that mine or do their own tasks without user intervention.

I haven't gotten a virus.bug in a LONG time now....   I always check stuff in a sandbox before I use them on my real machines.

The days of the MSG_OOB bug and the like are far behind us....

I know there's always exploitable holes in windows;  but they aren't as system/kernel deep as they used to be.

But on friends machines that want to earn a few bucks with their GPU, I have to do the same before I even try to download the scripts and miners,  add a custom folder to the ignore list on defender, spyware and virus apps.

It's annoying how botnets caused cpuminer and sometimes ccminer to be seen as a virus.   I personally am curious as to what heuristic they use to detect a miner app.   It can possibly be changed with a little code shuffling in the app.

Also by using this common batch file to point at the correct mining folder in the cloud storage, all rigs runs the same copy of Claymore miner for each rig. This made my ssd clones consistent for all rigs.
are you passing an argv/argc to the batch via command line to have a rig identifier to distinguish them online? something like: "X:\>miner.bat RackMiner-1"??
In zpool I can add a miner/worker name to the password string to identify which miner is online and not.
I like your idea of leaving it on GD and executing remotely....   The cloud is a wondrous thing, but I don't like leaving my important things in others' hands... lol.

Ok I understand that I need to change to BTC wallet so I get paid for DCR at payout times. My concern is what about what I have mined so far?  Do I have to wait for the payout before I can switch wallet address as that is the user account itself.
as long as you have mined enough for a payout on a sunday;  and all mined blocks are cleared....  Then just switch addresses to a BTC address.   When the DCR amount gets reached, you'll get your DCR wallet payment like normal;  no need to have something still mining to the wallet.
1732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I want to build a pool on: April 12, 2017, 06:49:36 PM
Can you tell me more?
I am a novice, but I am familiar with to other mining and mine pool the correct installation of purse, do you have to build mine pool detailed strategy and interpretation? If you are willing to help me, thank you. My email is q2904@outlook.com and 290479312@qq.com

I gave you the roots of what it takes....

It would take exponentially longer to write a how-to step by step with all instructions and possible failures along the way....

Go do some research on the original points I gave you.  you need to teach yourself using the same public documentation everyone else has.

If multipools were that simple to set up and configure, many many people would have their own.

The long winded quote reply above mine does explain a lot of caveats as well....   Its not a simple task my friend.   crackfoo who runs zpool has thousands upon thousands in server gear to run his pool, not to mention the hosting and monthly bills to run the site, as well and daily/weekly maintenance and the upgrades....

FYI:  I doubt that you will get someone to walk you through it step by step... too much to teach....  too many possible scenarios...

 <concatenated text>

I did state facts;  and gave a real world opinion...  you obviously did not understand the context of what was said form both parties prior to my statement that seems to have hit a sensitive nerve.  I suggest trying to understand the flavorful manner of which I write.  It's not simple 3-5 letter words and foul mouthed rants.  Do some legwork if you desire to validate.  Just a few clicks away.

Calling a thread "snake oil"; which is another way of saying "false claim": is not belittling someone.  It's literally describing a thread with a metaphor to describe the false claims that were made.   Might I suggest a link: Here.  It's a good way to understand these things.   (now that right there is actually belittling someone, only if I know for a fact you do know how to use google).  Please don't cut off your nose to spite your face.  It doesn't hurt the others, it just affects how they perceive you.

I called him a troll for leading people on twice... and specifically for using the term two weeks.  Do the math if you have been on this site long enough (maybe not?  I don't care to look at this point).  It should be easy for any veteran of this site to understand why it would be said: (BF public sales anyone?).  I, also in the same paragraph, describe that if anything real hits the table he can PM me if he desires.  I also didn't state that it was the opinion of everyone. (are you gonna misinterpret and try and twist the 'many people' phrase now?)  This paragraph should be blatantly understandable to the laymen veteran of this forum.

Again:
Sorry that being real, honest and upfront about the above mentioned issues was considered an attack.   Imagine if people actually followed through with what they said on this site:  The site would be perfect and everyone would be painting rainbow unicorns; as well as rich beyond their wildest dreams.  Well, nearly.

I never once downed a project that wasn't an answer to the OP.  I supported it.
I didn't down him for his project,  I downed the method of sharing and lack of congruence (which does happen, but not usually repeatedly).
If you can't handle bad feedback, why care about good feedback?

This is why nowadays things like this and politics go horribly bad real quick:  people get too hurt about a simple opinion; which is usually supposed to give inspiration to another viewpoint which is affecting one or many people and pointing towards a problem.  If you can't work with bad feedback in the slightest for a rudimentary action such as proper information delivery:  how can you be expected to improve or sell a product/service?

By the means of sharing it, it seems like it won't be open-source... so this concept/manner of thinking is very much applicable.
Anyways if it is open-source;  what kind of logic is it to be secretive about something that's going to be public anyways?
Wouldn't the public help and input make a better project/product in the end?

On topic reply to the OP and others clicking here wondering about the 1-3 risers:
I have tried 1-3 splitters on many new and old boards (intel and AMD)... and they have generally worked like a charm with any PCIE capable board.  At the very least, I have always been able to get 4 cards minimum working on a board with only 2 slots and an embedded CPU in a mini-ITX lenovo format.  I haven't tried more than 5 GPU on many of those boards though, because the rigs were all smaller (4-5 gpu).  The customers didn't want to spend that much on a 6+ card machine back then... plus wattage requirements were a bit steeper. YMMV.
1734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pcie 1 to 3 Port 1X Switch Multiplier HUB Riser. Which motherboard works. on: April 10, 2017, 07:14:21 AM
My reply wasn't about being in a pissing match, and I am sorry that so many feelings are fragile when a simple truthful comment was made.

If someone promises an answer;  It's not being "entitled" to something owed no?

*SMH* I never once asked for anything....  Did I?

I stated that I was upset that we were being lead on, and I am through with it and I am turned off by it... especially when it happened a second time in a row.

I didn't belittle anyone;  I didn't flip off the rocker... unlike some replies above mine.

Sorry for simply speaking truth and stating facts.  Sorry for being realistic.
Yes;  I apologize for others faults as well as my own.... someone should.

Im done with this snake-oil thread.

jstefanop Has not followed through with any promises of info.... which is the only reason I keep checking this thread for a honest answer.

Good troll my friend.   PM me if anything real hits the table, till then, I am done reading this garbage.

Im sure theres many others in the same boat as I am.

Woah there...this is exactly why I don't like announcing anything until I'm ready. I simply made a few posts about what I'm working on, and ill announce when its ready. I got caught up with the whole Litecoin fiasco in the past two weeks so I fell a bit behind, and I shouldn't have posted about getting more info out.

Again;  not going out of my way to down you;  but you did say things that you simply did not follow through on:
more than once.  So yeah.  No breath being held and I chose to be vocal about it....  Usually something like that stimulated progress anyways. (in one way or another)

You should easily be able to understand our/my dismay at your postings in this thread for the reasons I have stated;  and I did unwatch this thread, but was about to scroll past it in the sub-forum and took a peek.

Phil,

I'm curious about the ASUS cards.... ever since I bought my last one;  I will never buy an ASUS card again until they redesign their coolers....

Is the cooler held on simply by the 4 spring loaded screws and no other point?  I.E.  can you physically separate the cooler from the die without removing any screws? (lose contact, needing re-paste directly afterwards)

I had an issue with a machine where a cable pushed against a cooler and lifted it from the die rather easily;  80*C+ instantly and throttling....    I am very lucky I didn't damage my ASIC or anything when it happened;  and that I noticed right away (instant fan speed to 100%).

Sorry for a skew, but im curious if they are still using their crap design.   At least with the EVGA, the cooler housing is supported on the rest of the card;  not just the 4 screws with springs at the 4 corners of the GPU die.... and this is never ever a potential problem.
1737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Flashing NVIDIA bios: can I flash my MSI GTX 1070 while other cards are present? on: April 10, 2017, 02:13:42 AM
You can't really brick GPUs, at least I failed to do so trying to flash the wrong BIOS or even when I restarted a frozen rig mid BIOS update. But then again I only ever used the DOS version of NVFlash (which you can use to list your cards and also you have to specify which card you want to flash).

Can you be so kind then to tell me how can I make my PC recognize all of my 280x? I got 5 of them that are completely bricked/dead (No signs of getting detected by the OS). When I look at device manager it only says standard VGA and it won't let me install drivers on them.

Are they xfx cards? Specifically speaking the amd models?

To be frank, your issue is a common one to a failed card needing warranty.

Xfx takes the cake on that note.  I'll never buy their products again.

If you are using a card to view the OS, but it can't be detected as anything but generic vga; it's a problem most likely not with the rom.

If you can learn to set up a wallet on a machine at home and mine to tha machine, you are half way there.

The harder part is setting yaamp/yiimp on a machine and connecting the different wallets to it and configuring it.

Learn to do those; and you can then have the knowledge to set up a pool.

Just remember, each wallet has a blockchain.
The internet/speed requirements are a real issue.
System performance is a major issue.

What are the temps in that?
closed case with OEM fans it was getting to thermal limits.

open case with active cooling, it sat around 68-71*.  It sat in his livingroom;  I think he's put wifi on it and moved it to another room by now.

We will be putting in high CFM fans in place of these low speed ones and it sounds like that should fix closed-case temps.
