17321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet vs Exchange on: July 01, 2017, 03:27:39 PM
Ok,

my question is, how much coins you keep in wallet and how much on exchanges?

Is it like 50/50 or more like 90/10?

I hold it like 99/1, 1% on exchanges obviously(spare change), And you should do that too. Anytime, the crypto exchange can just close and run away with your cryptocurrencies if they wanted to. Also, remember the previous hacks on bitfinex and Mt. Gox? Those events should already be a lesson for crypto holders.

The site or the platform just suspended the addresses btc it asks to change the addresses but I sent an amount my old address also I have amounts pending to different faucets with the old address that would make Undecided

Suspended what address and how? And what platform specifically? Can you please tell the whole story first? We don't have time to ask you everything, you need to state them. What platform? What did you do to get the address suspended? Which address? Receiving or accepting? Etc.
17323  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: my btc account not found in c-cex on: July 01, 2017, 01:36:05 PM
hello!

I had an address for my btc account but I am not found yet the other addresses exist the problem is that I sent 0.004 btc to this address
So I filed this address in several faucets that cumulate the btc and which requires not to change address how to do
Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

Can you explain more clearly? Other members and I could barely understand what you're trying to say unfortunately. So you had an address to your bitcoin account (maybe your c-cex account?) and you haven't found what exactly?
17324  Economy / Exchanges / Re: About to make my first simple altcoin trade. I need to set up a Stop-Loss? on: July 01, 2017, 12:35:58 PM
Hi All,

I'm a semi-newbie. I've got some various altcoins and I want to make my first trade on Poloniex. I've got a Poloniex account.

My trade is very simple. I want to deposit some of my altcoin aaa into Poloniex and trade it for altcoin bbb. Then I plan to transfer bbb to another site where I can convert bbb into fiat. Pretty simple.

Do I need to set up a Stop-Loss for this trade on Poloniex?

Thanks,

PS: My iron-clad rule is to absolutely minimize the time that I'm not controlling the private keys to my altcoins. So I never keep my altcoins on exchanges longer than needed.

No, you don't need to use stop-losses. Stop-losses are used for different purposes, that you probably do not need right now. Not sure what you call it on poloniex, but you should only use limit trades.

And yes. It's not a good idea to leave your coins on exchanges, since they can just disappear anytime and they are quite prone to hacks.
17325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to effectively store large number of Bitcoins? on: July 01, 2017, 07:02:47 AM
Suppose I hold lot of bitcoins in exchanges and in some wallet. To prevent the loss of bitcoins, how should one manage them?

Generate multiple new addresses. Distribute the bitcoins among these addresses. Copy the private keys of these addresses to paper wallet.
Is this the way to do it?

What are other better ways to manage large number of bitcoins?

I suggest using only one address to prevent hassle. No reason to store it on multiple addresses whatsoever.

One suggestion is to make a paperwallet offline. Here's a guide on coindesk: http://www.coindesk.com/information/paper-wallet-tutorial/

What I would to though, is to buy a hardware wallet. A ledger nano S to be more specific. It's a device with a size of a USB Flash Drive. If you're interested, look up: Ledger Nano S, Trezor, and Keepkey. I'll list the websites below.

17326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Documentary] Life on bitcoin is out on: June 30, 2017, 04:40:34 PM
Alright. I've only watched the trailer for now and I'm a bit interested (just a little bit). The documentary looked very low-budget from the first 10 seconds. Some parts of the movie actually made me cringe. Like 3/4 of the trailer, when they were having problems because they couldn't find stores who accepts bitcoin, well duh, bitcoin isn't widely accepted yet; why didn't you bring cash? I felt like they were trying too hard to dramatize it. I'd prefer if they just made like a informative documentary on what bitcoin can solve. Not all these "oh no this restaurant doesn't accept bitcoin and I'm already very hungry Sad"
17327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that Crime isn't Why they Hate Bitcoin. on: June 30, 2017, 03:44:20 PM
Yea you're right. Right now the main excuse is terrorism. That's also why prepaid phone cards are slowly but surely getting banned. Because it's nearly untraceable.

Are they really close to getting banned? Any sources?

I think prepaid phone cards can be traceable through signal and through the phone itself(not the sim card). But yea, this easy solution for criminals to get past this is to buy very cheap mobile phones and just get rid of the phone after like every transaction and get a new one after.  Cheesy
17328  Other / Off-topic / Re: What wallets do you use? on: June 30, 2017, 02:39:20 PM
I only used coins.ph. as what i know its the only  trusted btc wallet  here in philippines.

"If you don't control the private keys, you don't have any bitcoin'. People from the Philippines are too lazy to do research on wallets and why you shouldn't store wallet on those services; and I'm filipino myself! Makes me sick. End rant.

Anyway, I use mycelium on Android and electrum on windows. Though I'm starting to use Copay because I'm a UI junkie.
17329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jihan Wu to speak at "Future of Bitcoin" conference (Livestream) on: June 30, 2017, 01:12:36 PM
Livestream youtube.  Jihan Wu should be speaking within the hour.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAcOnvOVquo

Is he going to speak after an hour exactly? Or is it just after the current speaker finished his turn?

I'm not going to say which side I'm going to be in, but this is going to be an interesting watch that's for sure. (especially the comments section if enough people will watch it).
17330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: free electicity, what's next? on: June 30, 2017, 12:33:32 PM
hi all,
i am new to bitcoin mining, after reading many and many topics i found that electricity is one of the major factors to make mining profitable. i have free electricity (legit way) and some computers (10 maybe with AMD Radeon HD 6450 as graphic card and i3/i5 cpu), so, is there anyway to gain profit from that?
any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Can you specify how you got free electicity? Do you live with your family?

Anyway, that's a huge cost off your profit calculation. Definitely alot easier to profit off that. I suggest investing on a better graphics card though. Unfortunately I can't help you with what specific graphics cards to buy, but it's easy to research on that.

Also, use http://coinwarz.com ; it has good calculators to compute for profits and for what specific cryptocurrency.
17331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing your wallet on: June 30, 2017, 11:21:58 AM
What nuances and secrets you know

Some solutions are, using a paper wallet, and using a cold storage (keeping your bitcoin completely offline). Personally I would go with hardcore wallet (Trezor, Ledger Nano S, Keepkey) as I like to move my cryptocurrencies online, and I think this is also an easy answer for newbies when wanting to secure your coins.
17332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Afraid of August One? on: June 30, 2017, 05:20:47 AM
I'm actually thinking about moving all my bitcoins to altcoins so I can have a peace of mind. Lol. It's still a month from now and it's already bugging me alot. I think it will either crash hard or rise hard. Not sure though, since segwit2x is on the lead. But I think I'll play it safe for now.
17333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Remote desktop on: June 30, 2017, 04:32:29 AM
Can you specify what remote desktop you're using?

Thinking about it, the only possible problem is either your remote desktop service bugging out, or your internet connection cut off of a few minutes. We need to know what service your using. What I personally use though, is TeamViewer and Google Remote Desktop. Never had problem with either. Try them out:

17334  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Risk management. on: June 29, 2017, 04:39:03 PM
Does anybody knows how I can do daily trading of Btc and still make daily income? Please I need a good response.

Study the charts. Make educated and well-though decisions and predictions. Just like trading stocks, trading crypto also has risks, and the only way for you to decrease the risks is to read the charts. A good site for this and other crypto is http://coinmarketcap.com

Don't expect trading to be an easy daily income if you don't know what you're doing.
17335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What percentage of traders profit? on: June 29, 2017, 03:32:16 PM
This will depend on the traders I think. Because there are some traders buying altcoins for short term and long term, both of this two you can get profit. If you try in a short term there are traders get profit from 5%-15% but in a long term from 500%-1000%.

Yes this is valid for traders, but I don't believe most of them are losing a lot. In pump times, all positions earned something but it lasted. Now, not more than 25% should be winning.

I believe the only ones that are really losing money are the ones that who just buys because of the hype, then panic sells when a dip in the price occurs. In my opinion the chances of you losing money when holding for the long run is really really REALLY low. That's why this is the type of investment I'm going for. High chances of profit and higher profits in general.
17336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that Crime isn't Why they Hate Bitcoin. on: June 29, 2017, 02:16:19 PM
Most Bitcoin critics often cite crime as reason for wanting Bitcoin obliterated. I doubt crime is the real reason. . It could well just be a subconscious thing they have no control over::  like Hatred for the weak, poor and middle class,  Preference for elitism, fascism and dictatorship,

PROOF:
Tools like VPNs and Proxies almost have thesame capability as Bitcoin but you hardly hear the complain about them.

To be honest, most people with this weird ideology don't really have problems with people becoming financially independent . Their problem is just the FREEDOM money brings to people. They wouldn't give a damn about your wealth so long as you are totally under their control.

They have the same capability what?

Well yea, if you're speaking about using vpns, proxies, amd bitcoins for anonymity, then you may have a point. But guess what. Some proxy and vpn provides can sell their customer's info to the feds or whatever authority.

Also, critics/skeptics that hate bitcoin because of it being used for crimes are probably just uneducated when talking about cryptocurrencies.
17337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason that keeps me from investing in bitcoin on: June 29, 2017, 12:15:09 PM
Yes. The transactions are a bit slow and expensive. But who says that can't be fixed? That's exactly what bitcoin's developers are for.

Also, the slow and expensive transaction fees should be a good sign because it can be caused by more and more bitcoiners using the system. And we ain't even reached mass adoption yet! Imagine what the future prices would be. You don't need to be a good businessman or a good investor to realize this.

17339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the current price drop considered a normal phenomenon? on: June 29, 2017, 07:35:22 AM
It sure definitely is. Price drops and rises, big or small, has been happening since forever in the crypto world. You don't even need to be in the industry for long to see this whatever the altcoin. You can always look at the past charts. coinmarketcap.com

**This is my First post - Please move this post to the correct section if I posted in the wrong place or reposting**

What are the good coins to buy?

I just made up my CEX.IO account and bought BTC.
now I would like to buy some other coins by paying BTC.

any help?

My suggestion would be to do your own research. Just go to http://coinmarketcap.com/ and do research on the top 20 or even maybe top 50 altcoins if you have the time, and then invest from there on what altcoins you think has the best potential.

Personally I would go with eth, sia, golem, xmr, ltc, and ans. Those are my picks and in my opinion has great potential in the next few months or years. What's yours?
