1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Did You Meet Bitcoin? on: October 22, 2023, 03:24:18 PM
I was introduced to Bitcoin in 2014, a friend of mine told me about Bitcoin, believe me, it didn't sound like a smart thing to my ears, I wish I had listened to my friend, I would have bought it in 2014. Unfortunately, I got to know it late and decided to buy Bitcoin in 2021. When Did You Meet Bitcoin? how much was the price ?

Mate, I think the forum has a couple few of this particular kind of thread but maybe with a different name but the whole context of people actually stating when and how they eventually got an encounter with Bitcoin.HERE. and I know I have seen a couple more of this particular type of post and I know you are wnew and stuff but using the search button would help you out alot in terms of making post
1742  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 22, 2023, 08:43:10 AM
Quote
Hey! I was thinking of something this night, this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?

What is the problem? I disagree with some members in the forum, but they perform a good role in other boards or in local boards. If a person spams or does something that I do not like, I will be put him on my ignore list, but there are more than 100 Merit source members and I sent merits to many other members who can sent 1/2 of it to that account.
If that account is on everyone's ignore list, the problem is with you.
I think your approach is also one way to see how the whole merit system works, because the system is design for the merit to be circle round so If someone is in your list and you deem him as a spammer and is actually doing well in other places then just like you said " there are 100's of merits source" out there that you actually give out merit to and in these merit source, they may be a few that actually sees the user to be trying and actually give the said person some amount of merit worth the quality of his posts.

But I just have one problem with this ignore list though, I just have a simple thought about some users here that used to be shit posters but with time actually worked on their selves and then turn out to improve in their posting style and now sound posted, wouldn't it be unfair to have them still in your ignore list without acknowledging their recent improvement? Although this your logic of other merit sources still covers this thought but it doesn't hurt to throw out there question still.
1743  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 22, 2023, 08:19:13 AM

Since bitcoin is very new and only the first generation is using it, so we do not come across such cases but after more than 10 to 20 years, a lot of bitcoins will be lost as the current holders of bitcoin wouldn't be alive and they have not transferred the wealth to their near and dear ones.
I don't know but I think with times to come this issue of people actually dying with their holding and Bitcoin will be reduced to a certain level because of the speculated amount of massive adoption and awareness that Bitcoin would have 10-20 years from now.

Bitcoin is something that is growing everyday and the awareness is also increasing and also is different technology and apps that's back it's usage and storage, although am not sure since it's a personal thought but I believe a time will come that a solution to this issue of people dying with holding will be of minimal number although currently now there is a fair share of people that have already fall victim of this.

Since Bitcoin is all about privacy it will be wrong to give out your seed phrase  to your family or even your spouse especially when you are holding and chasing a particular  target but i feel if the person, that's your wife  or child is already exposed to the technology then it will make the whole scene different because it will be easier to actually set some up some way for them to actually inherit your holding when you are no more .
1744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your doubt has no effect on gambling. on: October 22, 2023, 07:52:06 AM

A friend of mine always says, game way go cut, go cut and game way go enter, go enter, and yes that's true, this game was supposed to, play accordingly, and it finally did, even with my doubts.

However, I will say that even your doubt can not make a game that you are supposed to win lose, because gambling doesn't work with mindset, it works with the risk and not your fear. Why the risk is because if you don't risk your money in gamble, you will not lose or even win.
Having doubt in your game is actually the first step to actually acquiring that lost although sometimes it helps out to prevent us in doing some foolish stake and believe me when I say foolish stake because I have made some foolish bet myself. That moment when you feel that the game you are trying to bet is actually going to result to win and you go all out and make the stake with the amount you are currently regretting you didn't play with and you will be surprised what the outcome will be when you have the played the bet and the result have finalized because gambling can be really cruel sometimes and that game you feel it's very sure might end up just being the wrong set of games that's if it's a parley selection like the one you placed.
1745  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: High cost of commodities on: October 22, 2023, 07:26:04 AM
Funny how you say if we can survive or not. What have we been doing all this while? The price of things going up during this period is not something that is happening only in Nigeria, because it's normal even in the normal business sense, because once demand is high and supply is low, then the price of things will eventually sky rocket and that's the case with this period, because at this festive period the demands of things tend to be on a different scale that's slightly higher than the average and this result to cost of goods and Commodity and I believe it's happening every where but since surviving is actually the feature of humans that you cant be altered, I think we are good and we will survive just like the previous times we have been doing.

As for a better economic, we can only hope that we get that soon because if it's all the necessary resources for a country that actually possess this, I think Nigeria has all but the issue is just mismanagement of funds and I think until we tackle this issue as country, there will be always be a thorn in flesh we can't get rid off.

1746  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Wrong mentality of scammers on: October 22, 2023, 07:06:50 AM
My country men una well done,

So I was just relaxing and surfing on the internet, trying to entertain myself a bit, then I came across this interesting skit by some user on the platform TikTok which really got attention because of the specific message he was actually trying to pass and as I watched it I tried relating what he was actually saying to my immediate environment and it fits so well that I thought I should drop it in the community today and hear your own personal view and take on this.

So we all know how the country be, and how boys for the streets dey continue involved themselves into fraud and many scam related stuffs just to make ends means and the funny thing about this is that some of these guys actually aren't really that educated and have found it really hard to do things the right way and, by this I mean actually following the right path to make money and some of the reasons most guys actually get involved in these scam ethics is because they actually deem it very easy which is actually a big fucking lie, but the lifestyle most of these fraudster lives makes fraud business looks so easy which is actually a mirage because nothing is actually ever easy especially when it's comes to making 💰 money. I have some friends who have actually said that doing fraud is actually the easiest way to make an ends, but when they actually tell me what they pass through day and night for this, then I start to think how funny it really is, how we are willing to some extent of a certain desire to actually do THE WRONG THINGS FOR THE RIGHT REASON  .

I imagine not sleeping all day and night trying to convince someone for them to actually do your biddings for the purpose of trying to scam or learning all the technological stuff about hacking, sending constant fake mail, claiming multiple identities and so many other hard stuff, and of which scammers are of the mentality that it's supposed to be easy and we all know how hard it is to actually learn and dedicate your mind to things you are not familiar with especially when it comes to tech stuffs but for these guys the dedication and committed is really on another level and this really make me wonder how funny the world is and how people are actually willing to the wrong things for the right reasons.

Why not just channel all this energy and time and actually follow the right path, because obviously, trying to scam too is actually not easy and if you are caught there is a penalty that follows it, but following the right way holds no sanction and requires the same commitment too.

Please, what's your take on this, make we yan small Tori for this issue.
1747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Currency nature of Bitcoin on: October 22, 2023, 06:26:09 AM

After all, Bitcoin network suffers from scalability issues and high transaction fees, leading many to believe that Bitcoin is more of a store of value than an alternative form of cash. With Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, we're faced with a more futuristic form of money
I think the problem of Bitcoin scalability is already been handled although the approach to it's adoption is a bit low since its implementation but I think with times adoption will drastically grow in mass and by this I mean the Bitcoin lightning network which was a resolution method to solve the problem of Bitcoin scalability.

For me it really doesn't matter because Bitcoin can be used as a store of value or as alternative means to fiat but the fact still remains that the primary goals of its creation is still in achievement which is the decentralization of a currency without the intervention of any third party involved to condition and restrict individual of their money.
1748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 22, 2023, 06:12:00 AM

I am not going to argue with you about what should be done, because those kinds of arguments hardly make any sense, and people are going to do what they will with the power of bitcoin, and some people will profit stupendously, and others will end up making mistakes that they had not realized to be as BIG of mistakes as they ended up being, and one of those mistakes may well end up being not having adequate systems in place to pass bitcoins along after some kind of a brain damage (or similar incapacity) and/or death.
.Yeah, that's true and it's actually one of the few things that is inevitable, whether we like it or not , a certain number of Bitcoin owners are actually going to end up leaving this world with their key remaining unknown to anyone, even their love one, but I feel this is supposed to be a matter of who's going fall under this category, well I know for sure after all this exposure to this much knowledge, I will definitely find a way to let my love ones or even my spouse know about the my holdings or if that's too wild, I think setting up a means of which they can actually get hold of my key and Bitcoin when mr.death eventually comes knocking.

We, as humans living in the world today, are about survival and I think everyone actually strives just to keep to the comfort of themselves and their loved ones financially, so a small fraction of people actually conditioning themselves every now and then to save money is to develop themselves so that they will have a better life for themselve and their family, so leaving the world without actually making plans for your Bitcoin holdings is kind of bizarre I would say, but that's from a personal opinion though but there still the fact still remains that nobody actually plans for anything to happen to them or their Bitcoin.
1749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: October 21, 2023, 10:30:41 PM
This is actually Normal for celebrities who often want to flaunt their wealth and money to the general public, drake does it, Neymar does and even so many celebrities do this, sometimes it's just them actually wanting to enjoy a spending spree of their money and nothing else. These type of people are not affected by any lose that they may inquire from their bet slip and they are free from addiction and that's why it's okay for them in their gambling habits, if a normal average gambler loses this kind of money then it would be a major issue for him but not same with the exclusive celebs.
1750  Economy / Gambling / Re: 👑 CoinRoyale.com - Original Bitcoin Casino | Trusted Since 2013 ✔️ on: October 20, 2023, 06:06:17 PM
Let me ask... how do you feel about football predictions? Competitions in which the prize is free bets are quite popular on the forum and 20-30 people participate in such competitions every week, so I see this as an excellent opportunity to attract new users. I think users will agree with me and join the discussion.
Sports especially football (soccer) will be attractive for many users and they can achieve two things at the same time. Enjoy matches, watch their favorite clubs and make bets from free bets given by the CoinRoyale team.

I like your idea to distribute free sports bets for Bitcointalk community members and CoinRoyale users.
Yeah it will definitely attract more user, and you soccer is the most active sport that attracts more user and it's also the most discuss sports and if free bets are being given in the casino it will definitely draw the attention of most Bitcointalk users who are fully involved in casino that actually give out bonuses and free bets, this is basically the simplest means to attract users to the casino. Although coinroyale isn't a new casino but fresh competition and giveaway makes the casino thread fully active and many users ready to try it out.
1751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 20, 2023, 03:02:28 AM
I met a friend who used about $1 to play gamble to win about $2500 in a game of different matches, all the early games went well but the last game cut which made him loose the game.  This lose made him to be sick for 3 days, the reason for his reaction was not because of the money he used to bet but he felt so bad because he has already put all his hope on the money he would have won.

People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.
This is very true because I had a friend who nearly collapse because of the traumatic experience he had because of the win that he would have gotten from a parley game he played, the game was ten in total and nine of the prediction has all gotten through but one  games was still undecided, but not long the after the remaining one  started and on the 90+2 minutes one of additional time of that particular game and the team which was already winning the game, until a shock and surprising thing happen. The game that was already winning for the bet was equalized  and the bet was lost and disappointment was the era of the day for this my friend and this was because he had put high hopes on the game turning out to be victorious.

1754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency is a Threat and BTC leads on: October 18, 2023, 09:49:21 PM

The EU and some government believe that cryptocurrency have no Intrinsic value and that you should be prepared to lose all your money if you buy cryptos. The head of the bank of England have taken this stance some months ago. In-fact, Bit Coin is highly restricted if not ban in Russia, China, Algeria, Bolivia, Nigeria, Bangladesh and many countries that are left wing. Whether directly or indirectly these countries have stood as Anti-Crypto.

My question is are they trying to protect their citizens or what?

Personally, I believe competition is good for the consumer but when government officials make this comment, I try to see things from their perspective and analyze them. So, what are government officials saying that they are not actually telling the people in reality.

Cryptocurrency are the largest treat to national security: The most powerful weapons that countries has is the ability to change interest rate and what they do is to buy and sell bonds to increase money supply or decrease money supply which changes interest rate. Hypothetically speaking, if every citizen in a country no longer use fiat or paper currency and they only use cryptocurrency then government can’t raise money by issue bonds and changing interest rate. What will happen is that government will go bankrupt.

Note: No Government makes a lot of money collecting only taxes. They issue bonds etc.
If there is no demand for government currency then they will go bankrupt. Do well to contribute your knowledge on this subject.

First most countries are now turning a positive view towards the use and acceptance of Bitcoin and most of these never actually put a ban on crypto in the first in their region and I like to think that NIGERIA is one of those countries because the ban on crypto as of then was actually a restraining order place on all commercial banks to stop any transaction that has to deal with crypto and any fiat bank account that was found transacting or relating with Bitcoin was actually ban.

The reason for all this that the government do, is basically because they can't track and control the transaction that has to deal with Bitcoin and if their is one the government really like, it's actually the thought on knowing that they can actually control everything including the financial life of their citizens and Bitcoin as a decentralized currency doesn't support this so they alternative to the best possible option which is actually to ban or restrict it .
1755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CZ's view on Halving on: October 18, 2023, 09:37:21 PM
He definitely speaks from experience and I think those of us that have been around for a few cycles are expecting the same thing. There’s a bit of hesitation in wondering if the market can really keep doing the exact same thing every four years, but until it doesn’t (with no FTX like evil actors) then I’ll be a believer and investor.
I think same expectations lie with those of us that have been actually reading and also currently holding a significant amount of Bitcoin. Even if you have not around all this while I think you can also be on same page as others concerning the whole Bitcoin halving discussion and the effects of the bull showing up after the halving. Currently now in the crypto both newbies , amateur and also veteran Bitcoin enthusiast are all curios on the possible faith of Bitcoin come the time of the halving and also it's passing.
1756  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Malicious Red Alert apps on: October 18, 2023, 05:13:31 AM
Wow, this is actually massive and although am not from Israel but I think warning should go for every crypto enthusiast out there. Especially when it comes to  giving out of specific user data to some apps we download and install in our mobile phones. And I think another way to avoid such ever scene happening to any user would be to actually have your Bitcoin wallet on a hardware device or avoid saving or using any mobile wallet software as they are vulnerable to series of different cyber hack and attacks from hackers and most these attacks you are actually the one who gives the go ahead permissions without even knowing.

*Edit *
Always be watching of the slight difference in the websites that we download our app and software from as scammers and hackers are always active in clowning original sites for their own evil activities.
1757  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 18, 2023, 05:03:04 AM

The strategy that I am describing is pretty damned close to DCA, especially since I was doing it on a weekly basis.  Let's say, for example, I had a budget to buy bitcoin of $100 per week, and it was for 26 weeks (which would be $2,600 for 6 months).  And if the beginning of the week is Monday and the end of the week is Sunday, maybe I might identify a couple of the dips through the week or maybe I would be waiting for dips that did not end up happening, so by the end of the week (Sunday) I would use either the whole $100 or whatever parts were left to buy at that time.. of course, the beginning of the week could be chosen as any day.  and each week there was a new $100 authorized, and let's say that  I felt that I did not have time to watch the market, so maybe I would just buy or maybe the price opens at $28,500, and I would set my buy order at $27,820, and if the order did not fill by Saturday, then I would just market buy or maybe set the buy order within $50 of the current price so that I have more confidence that it is going to fill before the end of the week.

Ohh, now I see your point, the strategy you employed is actually DCA, the only difference is the fact that you wait for the dip before accumulating more, its not a bad one but its time consuming as it requires constant watching of the market, so assuming your targeted price is not meet for the week, do you add the amount to that of next week or you'll abandon that weeks accumulation?.
Reason I asked that question I believe there are times where the market just goes sideways without adding or removing any large significant amount to the market for up to  a week, and in such cases I don't think your strategy would be able to accumulate for that week. I am a very busy person, not sure if I would be able to adopt the system, but I'll love to make a trial for a month and see how it goes, but my modified strategy would be, if my buy target wasn't meet for the week, at the end of that week I'll just buy irrespective of the price, so I will not be tempted to skip accumulation for that week.
I haven't actually tried such method before that requires me to actually watch or set a buy order for the week because I know how volatile the market can be and I think if the investor is not a principled one, you might end up using the actual funds for other stuff that's if the target isn't reach for that week, no offense but I think the DCA method of just having a specific target to reach regardless of how the market moves is more preferable especially if you are someone who is always occupied with other schedule just like you explained but also their is the fact about sacrifices, that's taking out time to watch the market or should say I say study it but I think this can be done through many simple ways too am currently using a price alert notification app on the Bitcoin price and this would be very helpful in terms of following up with this strategy.
1758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 17, 2023, 10:52:07 PM

Fuck crypto and fuck trading... especially talking about those ideas in this thread.

Let's talk about bitcoin and various methods to accumulate it without necessarily resorting to selling, and if you believe that you need to sell in order to acquire more bitcoin, then you probably need to go talk about those kinds of nonsense (gambling) ideas in some other thread.
I think this message you have been trying to pass since is still not well understood by most people who actually post here because I was once a partaker of such error of relating Bitcoin to other crypto and ever since I got corrected I have careful when it comes to the usage of this two words Bitcoin and crypto . Pardon me sir, but I think many of the users here don't actually mean to relate their discussion to the vast inclusion that the word crypto actually carries as most people just actually feel Bitcoin can be called crypto but I have noticed everytime this word is used in this thread their is always a correction to by you but still yet most of this same users are ignorant to your corrections.

@to all users involved in the discussion here, please the discussion is all about Bitcoin and the possible means of how one can buy and actually hold their Bitcoin for long period without selling of which DCA has come to be a iconic method to achieving this goal so every other altcoins or crypto bullshit is actually not for this thread, please staying on track with the discussion can be of great help to members that are on course to becoming a successful Bitcoin holder some day.

Well said my brother but na on the second opinion for inside this particular quote of yours I dey talk about because if you talk say people wey no get job na due to the facts say dem no too dey serious with there studies then I for drag with you well well because me I fit swear say the whole context in this country sef don turn the direct opposite of watin you talk but as for the one way you talk say na due to the fact say dem no gree get additional skill attached to their self then that one I go agree with you because the country now as e be sef na man-o-war situation when it comes to getting or securing of good government works but that one sef no cover the fact say we as Nigerians can create a work space for ourselves and become our own boss because if you have skills you go definitely surpassed the situation of no jobs because na you go become your own job and na waiting most Nigerians dey fail to understand be this.

Hmm, at least I am not the only one who is on the same opinion about the recent flood of these types of  content, because the rate of content is just too much and the worst part of it is that the victims that are being targeted are no longer considered. A lot of so many marriages and friendships have been destroyed all in the name of creating content. Although I agree that the whole thing is entertainment, at least the negative effect is now becoming alarming. I mean the shock that some of these victims experience during the shooting of this content alone is enough to actually destroy their emotional wellbeing and the so-called content creators are not concerned about it whatsoever.

There was this particular content about a particular girl being exposed to habits that could damage the social life of the girl to the extent of her being seen as an evil and unwanted person if actually what is being portrayed is true and this can lead to her marriage life being damage and still yet there was no consideration to this as the content was still made public to the whole society to actually witness the flaw and error of this particular victim.
