1741  Other / Meta / Re: Request: New Local Board for Pakistan (Urdu) on: April 09, 2023, 07:51:08 PM
Can we get status of where our request is right now from administrator?
Its been said several times in this thread that you shouldn't count on getting any sort of response (or criteria needed) until they actually decide to give you local board as others (e.g Nigerians) didn't get a single response in 2 years, until theymos actually decided that its time.
That's why we are waiting. And pointing out again and again to get response from the administration. We are not criticizing but turning their face to us and asking that, they should make some criteria about new local board. And still we are not losing hope. And hope so the administration will take a look to our request soon.  Smiley
Just like Bitcoin, I think the administrators of this forum are not predictable. From all indications members from Pakistan really deserve their own board based on their activities are contributions to the forum. The Pakistanis are more active than most local boards and I know their board will not be idle like other local boards that lacks posts. My only encouragement is that you guys should keep reminding the administration and hoping that one day the local board will become a reality. You guys might wake up one morning and see that an Urdu booaed have been created. Local boards give members a sense of belonging in the forum. I really support your quest for your local board and I hope the administrators will consider it..

1743  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your money wisely - another lesson, Techie tries to suicide. on: April 09, 2023, 03:33:28 PM
This news is from the IT Hub of India, that is Kolkata. The Techie who is just 23 years old had invested a big amount of money in the Crypto space. The investment when asked him was around INR 30 lakh ~ $ 36,600 in US dollars. That is a definitely huge amount considering his age and country of residence. Even in America, 36K USD is pretty handsome money and you can do many things with it.

So the gravity of this can be sensed easily.

He was saved by the Cops after a local Cab driver alerted the police and the response team was at the incident quickly.

He was trying to jump from the largest bridge on the river named "Hooghly" to end his life.

The investment was not his alone but he collected the money from various sources. He took loans and also was using the pension from his mother. Definitely, he had no plans and no idea what he was doing.

Just save up your bitcoins in cold storage, only buy what you can afford to lose and most importantly don't fall for the traps of crypto space.
Bitcoin is the only savior in crypto and if you own the keys, you win the market.

Read the news here:Techie loses Rs 30 lakh in crypto market, tries to jump off  ..

He made two grave mistakes. Although you didn't specify which kind of crypto he invested in I guess he didn't invest in Bitcoin, if he did he invested just a little. Bitcoin is not like money doubling where you just invest and predict your profit. And if you trade or invest in altcoins using exchanges you are taking a great risk and if you keep your money in exchanges, you are on your own.

Secondly, he borrowed money to invest in cryptocurrency, that's wrong. You only invest what you have or what you can afford to lose. Techie is depressed and he feels hopeless because of pressure from his creditors and great disappointment. There has also been a high rate of suicide globally mainly caused by economic problems. Thank God he was rescued, all he needs is medical attention and financial assistance.

Use decentralized wallets, deal on only bitcoin, and invest only what you can afford to lose.
1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving only 1 year away on: April 09, 2023, 03:03:15 PM
I'm excited just like you guys, Bitcoin having season is always a celebration, it has become a popular thing among holders and miners because most cases this is what triggers a new wave of adoption, and expectedly Bitcoin always performed better after every halving is successfully over, things will look ugly at first for miners, but after the dust have settled a better adaptation will take place, Bitcoin miners have to earn less, there is no way this won't happen, but they always get used to it after the halving.
Glad to learn something new today explained simply. Bitcoin is such a unique currency that overcomes all the pitfalls of fiat. Satoshi is an angel because he designed an extraordinary currency Every year bitcoin gets more scarce and precious. Bitcoin has more value than gold because it is limited. Miners have gone through so many hard times in this bear season that some of them had sold some of their mining equipment because of the high cost of power. So many holders have gone through a turbulent period that some sold out of FUD. As a holder, my wish is to see the Bitcoin price go up, so if your predictions become a reality, I am already celebrating.
1745  Bitcoin / Mining / Come and mine Bitcoin in Africa. on: April 08, 2023, 01:14:08 PM
I want to apologize for writing about an area of Bitcoin that I know little about. From what I have gathered so far Bitcoin miners are attracted to places that have constant but cheap electricity supply, favorable government policies, security, less pollution, and accessible quality infrastructures. Cheap and uninterrupted power supply increases the chances of making profit, friendly government policies and security determine the longevity of the business, clean and green environment reduces the effect of mining emissions and quality infrastructures make the miners and their families live good lives in a particular location. All African nations might not have these qualities but some possess them. I want to state a few reasons why miners should consider Africa.

Humanitarian Grounds: If Bitcoin miners focus only on profit taking, Africa might be the least continent to consider to locate your mining firm. But if your goal is to make a profit and also help to improve the standard of living of Africans, then it is the best location. Africa needs help because of so many negative factors. Like the case of Gridless a company that started a bitcoin mining project by tapping into 50 kilowatts (kW) clean, stranded and excess hydro energy in Malawi. This Bitcoin mine has brought economic empowerment and job opportunities and 1,600 households connected to this mine have constant power supply. Another company SustainSolar, Earth Wind and Power and INENSUS saw the opportunity to use what would have been otherwise wasted energy to support crypto mining and in the process generate electricity to process high-value agricultural crops such as vanilla and BEC in rural Uganda; and yield many socio-economic benefits for the surrounding farming community.

Friendly Government Policies: Only four African countries have absolutely banned Bitcoin operation in their jurisdiction which includes Morrocco , Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria. Some African nations don’t have any laws that prevent or approve mining activities. Many countries in Africa will be willing to welcome miners because they desperately need revenue from the tax.  So, mining activities will be welcomed in Africa as long as you pay your tax.

Relatively cheap electricity: African countries are among the nations that have cheap electricity costs. According to Statista a firm that analyses the power consumption of countries, out of 30 nations that have the cheapest power four African countries made the list which includes Rwanda (8th), Kenya (15th), South Africa (15th), and Nigeria (27th). Africa has a lot of sunlight to power solar, many rivers or water bodies for hydroelectric power, and several abandoned power projects that can be revamped.

Security: Africa has always been a continent characterized by wars and political conflicts. In some of these nations, there is a high rate of crime. But this narrative is changing because many African nations are become politically stated and security friendly. African nations might not be among the first twenty safest countries but their rating has consistently improved Mauritius is the 28th safest country in the world, Ghana is the 40th, Gambia 45th and Botswanan 48th.

Infrastructures: Some African nations are investing heavily in infrastructural development. An example is Seychelles , a tropical island in the East of Africa which 100% of the population has access to electricity while 98% has unhindered access to drinking water. The country has 247 internet service providers and with the lowest population in Africa, the country still has 14 airports spread across its many cities. It has good roads, a quality health system, and well-planned cities. Other countries like Mauritius , Ghana, South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe all have basic facilities that will be of great interest to bitcoin miners.

Friendly people: 80% of Western experts and local business leaders interviewed by How we made it in Africa confirmed that the best thing about the African country in which they operate is the people, along with its geographical beauty. According to the InterNations report, East African country received the highest marks for friendliness. More than 57% of experts in Uganda gave ‘general friendliness’ the best possible rating (the global average was 26%) and not a single respondent ranked this factor negatively. African love foreigners and treat them with love and respect. It will not be bad for some interested bitcoin miners to marry Africans because they are wonderful people.

As I said before, Africa might not be a perfect place to mine bitcoin but it could be a place to consider because things are changing for the better and we also need the support of bitcoin miners.
1746  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why will I always have faith in the potential of Bitcoin? on: April 08, 2023, 09:22:26 AM
My ultimate goal can be only achieved through Bitcoin. This will happen when I go to any big store and pick up anything without thinking about how much I have in my wallet. I am not someone who is looking for a Lambo. I am someone who is going after complete Financial independence.

Do you believe in what I believe?

You are very correct when you said Bitcoin has revolutionized the payment and investment system of the world. It has also promoted privacy and decentralization which has made people break loose from the manipulative power of Central banks and the government. The volatility of bitcoin is an advantage and also a disadvantage so it is advisable to take and embrace it.

I also share your idea of not wishing to be stupendously rich. The reason for the suffering and poverty in the world is greed. People want to acquire much wealth to spend on pleasure which are just temporal that is why they want to invest in products that promise huge profit in the short term and they end up being scammed. With Bitcoin, you have a reliable investment but you need patience and foresight.
1747  Other / Meta / Re: What is the advantage of Wearing signature avatar on your BTT profile? on: April 08, 2023, 08:38:13 AM
Have seen many of members wear signature avatar, Can you members give idea what that be expected from wearing signature avatar on your profile?
There are mainly two kinds of signatures which are monetary and non-monetary. When you wear a signature because you will get some monetary gains, then you are in the monetary or financial sector. You might be advertising a company's product or your service. The company pays you for promoting its product. There are many crypto-related firms that there products or services are advertised in the forum.
But when you wear it because you want to promote a product, ideology, or an endeavor without any financial benefit, you fall in the voluntary, humanitarian or non-financial category. I have seen signatures to promote decentralization and support scammed victims.

When costs go up, so do profits? That’s not how capitalism is supposed to work, but that is the recent trend. For over a year now, consumers and businesses, both in the U.S. and worldwide, have struggled with stubborn inflation. But the soaring costs haven’t prevented corporations from raking in record profits. The companies in last year’s Fortune 500 alone generated an all-time high $1.8 trillion in profit on $16.1 trillion in revenue.

‘We may be looking at the end of capitalism’: One of the world’s oldest and largest investment banks warns ‘Greedflation’ has gone too far

Interesting article, the term "Greedflation" especially. This is the first time I come across this term and I like it. I understand that someone wants to be rich, but when is enough? Is there enough?
Greedflation!!!!!! I like this concept because this is indeed the current happening in the global economy. These multinationals are milking the people dry. In my country, there is a massive increase in the cost of goods and many businesses are closing down because of high running costs. The government agencies that regulate the price of goods should control this price by monitoring the rate at which these firms increase the price of goods.

This concept shouldn't be linked only to countries in the US, Canada, or Europe but the OPEC+ members. These countries have kept using the war in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia and Iran to rack in huge profits to the detriment of the masses. Saudi Arabia and other oil-producing nations are making so much money and they want to ensure the price remains high by cutting production.

1749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No late comer in bitcoin Investment. on: April 08, 2023, 06:56:25 AM
I have already heard this phrase ever since I learned crypto way back 2014. At that time I haven't entered this forum yet, but several other people are already talking about bitcoin is still on its early stages. There are various sources of information before from social media platforms to telegram groups. After so many years that passed it was still the same phrase that's being used, and yes it is true that bitcoin is still young. Nobody else believed that at first but seeing the records from the past few years I think people now would hesitate saying those words such as "bitcoin will end" or "there is no longer hope for bitcoin to rise". Words like "we saw the potential and possibilities of bitcoin" will be heard commonly from now on or even in the future.

In conclusion, it is never too late to invest in bitcoin and while some are still hesitating, others already grabbing the opportunity coz as always, no one knows when will be the next time it will rise again and what they hesitating for now will probably end up being a regret.
The price of Bitcoin is ever-dynamic. Nobody can predict the price of cryptocurrency and one can never say you are too late. It is true early bitcoin adopters will be making a huge profit from their hodling but they believed the unbelievable. Their world was a fiat-dominated one and cryptocurrency was strange people saw it as nothing but some revolutionists accepted it. They deserve to benefit from their bravery and foresight.

Bitcoin will always have opportunities. There will always be an opportunity to buy cheap and sell high because it will always be volatile. The economic, social, and political influence will always affect the price so there is no convenient time to buy. You can buy today and make money in the future and you can also buy and lose money
1750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another scam email attempt on: April 07, 2023, 04:56:59 PM
I have learned a lot from these because and I am really grateful to @OP for sharing this information. OP was able to ignore this threat because he was security conscious. If he was careless with the data, he would have been scared and ended up giving these criminals the funds. And they will keep reaping their prey until they milk him dry.

For me, anything you don't want people to see, don't save it on your system and you don't also take it to public domains or social media. I have decided not to give out my email no matter how tempting the reward might be. It is risky to have the same password for more than one account and we shouldn't click on any link we see. My issue is that they are demarketing Bitcoin because uninformed people might that assuming that Bitcoin is synonymous with such criminal transactions.
1751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current Topic: African players in Europe. on: April 07, 2023, 03:23:53 PM
The Nigerian Super Flacon is set to play Haiti and New Zealand in a friendly match on Friday(today) and Tuesday, respectively1. Their morale is high after defeating Costa Rica at the Revelation Cup Tournament in Mexico City in February and I hope that that will be enough motivation and drive for them to win the matches ahead of them. In my estimation, New Zealand is not going to be an easy team to beat. These games will serve as a preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be held in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 201. Compared with the Super Eagles, I can confidently put my money on the Super Falcons to win both games.

The Super Falcon's camp is in high spirits because of the arrival of many quality players including Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie. These two players have been playing well in their various clubs but they have not replicated the same performance on the national team. Oshoala plays in the national team with less vigor and determination different from her performance in Barcelona. Although it might not be unconnected to the poor administration of Nigerian football where footballers are not given the needed motivation and attention. The match against Haiti and New Zealand are all preparations for the world cup and I hope there will be no excuse because it seems the Nigerian Football Federation has woken up from slumber. They have been organizing good friendlies for the Super Falcon.
1752  Economy / Economics / Re: U.S. Treasury under pressure of DeFi market threat! on: April 07, 2023, 01:36:29 PM
Here, if you read this news then it's coming as a shock that US security is at stake after careful reviewing of how the DeFi market is home to illicit spammers, money launderers, and much more! This side of crypto is helping them move the funds around the world without any hesitation and thus keeping all the regulators under pressure.

Recently, a US treasurer made an official statement that US security is not good in terms of financial management considering the large volume of money is getting diverted through the DeFi line which is for illegal stuff.

We have awakened the regulator's dragon, and I don't know but this could place crypto at risk.

The US government has failed to safeguard its financial transaction arena from attacks and fraud. Cryptocurrencies are not the only currency that is used for criminal activities, fiat is also highly used. The government should do more to protect cyberspace and stop the blame game. They should come to terms that cryptocurrencies are here to stay, so instead of pointing accessing fingers on the crypto sector, they should decide to face the challenges it brings. Total regulation of decentralized finance will be difficult because there will always be loopholes to exploit or bypass these control systems.
1753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is how i researched about bitcoin. on: April 07, 2023, 12:45:11 PM
Sorry to call your attention I need to get something clear about you investing in bitcoin, after you made your research and you invested 20$ in bitcoin and some of your money to altcoin. Now my question is does the lost only comes from bitcoin or those altcoin you invested gave you what you wanted?
Because I can't believe you totally lost rather bitcoin would take time to recover than any other altcion out there. Some of the altcoin may not survive the bear market while some of them may end up folding down.

I am in loss of ~80% mostly because of altcoin i doesn't knew that altcoin doesn't survive in bear market even if it have very good project.
that a mistake when i was new.
Some people have always claimed that they have been making profits from trading altcoin but I have never had such an experience, which is why I focus mainly on Bitcoin investments. Bitcoin has gone through so many challenging times and survived all.

what's your story?

I was a freelancer writer on fiverr and in mid of 2017 I received an order to write about bitcoin. That's the first time I came to know about Bitcoin and it took me almost 2 years to get some bitcoin in my wallet. The centralized freelance platforms deduct too much money like fiverr deduct 20% from every order and you get your payment after 14 days. The liberty bitcoin gave to everyone including freelancers is that you get your money instantly with no cuts and commission.
If some of these freelancing firms will add Bitcoin as their alternative payment currency it will be very nice. It will help freelancers to save and hold Bitcoin. This forum (bitcointalk) is one of the major platforms that has helped many people to earn Bitcoin and am also benefitting from it. P2P platforms and other decentralized platforms are always the best places to keep your coins. Exchanges are not different from banks and other financial institutions that are greedy because of profit-making.
1754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Expectation for 2023 on: April 05, 2023, 05:29:00 PM
So I think everyone would expect that Bitcoin would rally again this year, and believe me I'm also rooting for it, but I realize that we should not expect too much, why? because too much expectation will only disappoint us when we don't reach our goal or target

Bitcoin has exceeded my expectations this year. I never expected the price to be this much up. I was expecting that the price will go up next year. I am just surprised that we are experiencing this sudden mini-bull run.

News is the last thing you want to listen to when it comes to crypto, out of hundreds of news out there only bad news about crypto are genuine, others are mostly fakes, OP this is the only invalid point on your list that I won't agree with..

We have "buy the rumour sell the news" for a reason.

I don't think the worst news about the crypto sector are fake. I feel it is the opposite, most bad news about this industry are fake. I have seen many news outlets that are specialists in fabricating fake news because they want to give the industry a bad name. The good news about the crypto industry rarely headlines in most newspapers globally. But when any exchange or a crypto-related firm has any problem it will receive wide media coverage.

https://news.bitcoin.com/saudi-arabia-and-opec-reveal-surprise-oil-production-cut-white-house-insists-cuts-arent-advisable-right-now/

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia and several major oil producers announced their plan to cut oil production by 1.15 million barrels per day, starting in May and continuing until the end of 2023. According to the Saudi Energy Ministry, the move was coordinated with some members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC members as a “precautionary measure” to stabilize the oil market.

Are the US authorities no longer in control of the world situation?
Every country is using the resources at its disposal to protect its national interest. Joe Biden administration is not pleased with the human abuse that is spearheaded by the Saudi government headed by Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The crown Prince is gradually tilting toward Russia and China to seek partnerships. The cut in oil prices is spearheaded by Russia and other oil-producing nations because they want the price of oil to go high so that they can make more money. I am sure that the members of BRICS such as China and India will still enjoy discounted crude. But this influence will not last for too long because crude oil will soon become obsolete.
1756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do women engage in crypto trading on: April 05, 2023, 04:40:59 PM
Most persons may say no but YES is the actual answer
In the ideal sense the dominance of crypto currencies by women is in great progress. Bitcoin is  the most popular crypto currency and therefore a currency of such will be dominated either now or in the future.
Women engage in crypto currency transactions also like men do the reason you may feel they don't is because those that don't have not much idea about it.

There is no restriction placed on women from engaging in Bitcoin trading. There are many women in the stock market and other trading sectors, so Bitcoin will not be an exception. But as much as I know more men are involved in Bitcoin than women in my country. This might be because of a lack of information and cultural barrier. In my country, women suffer from discrimination because of our culture. Most women don't have access to phones or the internet because our society feels that they might use it as a medium to engage in immoral activities. While the men have unlimited access to phones and information. This condition has limited the interest of women in the Bitcoin sector.
1757  Other / Politics & Society / Who is losing? Finland joins NATO. on: April 04, 2023, 07:15:34 PM
One of the reasons Russia gave for invading Ukraine was that they want to stop the expansion of NATO along the Russian border. But today Finland which shares about 1,340km borderline with Russia has formally joined NATO. Kremlin feels that the acceptance of Finland into NATO is against the security and national interest of Russia. And in a few months, Sweden might be the next member of NATO which will indeed be a blow to the aspiration of Russia to push NATO far from its borders.

Do you think Russia made the right decision to attack Ukraine because it wants to protect its borders?

1758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 04, 2023, 01:20:15 PM
Unbelievable outcome, I never anticipated what just happened in that match. Despite the unexpected loss, Napoli had massive point advantage, so this defeat didn't have too much impact on their standing in Serie A. They even had players sitting out in preparation for the UCL quarter-finals, which is a pretty big deal. I just hope Milan doesn't get caught up in any mind games and stays focused.

Napoli seems to have the league title locked up, but they rely on just one or two star players. If those players go down or aren't playing at their best, the team can become ineffective.

I just can't explain what went wrong but it was clear the Napoli team was a shadow of itself. The defense was too porous that Milan strikers were easily dribbling and passing through the players. The attack was nothing to right home about. Although sometimes it happens in football maybe because of the law of diminishing returns. It might also be possible that it is a strategy that might make the Milan team underrate the Napoli side in their forthcoming quarter final match. Napoli are already close to winning the league title, maybe their focus is the Champions league. But if it is a technical blunder from the coach or the team, they have to fix it very fast so that such woeful performance will not repeat itself in the future. Although they have a wide point margin in the Serie A, they are not yet the champions because in football, anything can happen.

I have to say that he made some savings for some years but it was most used up by sending his daughter to study overseas.

That was one of the major cause of his financial problem because he spent more than his income. People often assume that they should spend all their money on their children so that when they get old their children will assist them financially. This is a very erroneous belief because a good school doesn't determine a good job or financial independence. Please don't get me wrong, it is good to give your children the best but you should also plan for your retirement because one day those children will have to face their own family. Nobody is even sure of getting a good job after graduation. Ensure you spend only what you can comfortably afford and invest for your future.

It is true that a financially challenged persons might sometimes be moody or unhappy. But money shouldn't determine our mood or behavior. We must learn to be happy even when we don't have plenty. If we can provide our basic needs, then we should be grateful and happy because there are millions of people that are dying of poverty and starvation.

Even people like him are struggling financially and we'd better prepare a comfortable life for the old version of ourselves. This uncle is still doing okay although with some struggles but I am sure there are millions who are broke and wish they could have made and saved more money when they were young. Always plan for the future. What do you think ?

The slogan for this young age is "work as you can, save as you can and invest as you can". This because time will come when you might not have the strength to work for 16hours because of old age or health problems.

I understand that everyone here is trying to protect their bitcoin talk account, but I can tell you that nobody cares for your account because I don't think giving your phone to someone for a couple of minutes and the person will hack your account, no the person will not hack your account, I can use my self for instance, nobody knows what am doing with my cellphone people always think am chatting with someone or playing video game with my cell phone.
More importantly, is not good to share your cell phone with friends, especially the ones that contain your important details.

I slept in a co-worker's house recently because I needed to carryout a task at my work place the next day and staying with him will help me save some transportation cost. This guy almost made me scared because of they way he was staring at my phone. Each time I wanted to post on the platform he was always coming close to me and wanted to know exactly what I was doing. I had to go to a barbershop to take an unplanned haircut because I needed some privacy.

The belief that nobody cares about what you are doing with your phone is not true. Currently scammers or hackers don't even need to handle your phone to carryout their nefarious activities, just looking at your phone is just enough. Adding my Bitcointalk profile to my phone homescreen is the last thing I would do because it cannot only attract scammers but criminals. Almost everybody knows that bitcoin is expensive and seeing bitcointalk on you phone screen might give criminals the idea that you own bitcoin. I have been introducing people to bitcoin and forum but there are some persons I will never tell that I have any relationship with Bitcoin.
