I'm officially "un-watching" this thread now.  Good luck S'Fards...

Read btcs news from sept 28. They had to lease their own (SPT) equipment. I am not sure about the rationale for it.
eventually, they will probably have to either borrow money or do a preorder to start producing these units in bulk.

This will be quite interesting indeed.  I'm not sure how this will work out for SPT by not revealing a price chart with varying prices based on quantity ordered.  Doing it the way they are doing it puts them in a negotiation mode with each potential buyer.  It would be considerate if they would at least tell us how many SP50's would have to be ordered to be considered a "bulk" order.

It may very well come to pass that they sell very few [If any at all] with the block halving approaching.  Potential buyers will be asked to commit to a large deposit [At a minimum] up front without knowing a ship date that's written in stone.  Anyone who orders these rigs in bulk [Paying a lot of money up front] should at least have it written in a contract for the price they negotiate to be reduced a certain percentage for each day past the projected ship date to compensate loss of revenue towards ROI before the block halving.  However, there could be a gain in revenue because no one really knows what the price of bitcoin will be by the time the blocks halve.

Thanks for mediating! I do appreciate your comments throughout this forum.

Sure, happy to oblige!

still no word on the prices?

nope not yet. All silent on the front

Looks to me like Bitmain reduced to some extent the top possible price, since they lowered the price of Batch 2 & 3 of the S7. Spondoolies would seem to have less room to maneuver now in terms of price (IMHO).

this. The SP50 would need to price in the range of 120-150BTC to compete

30K max realistically, but 25K is optimal.

If you haven't noticed, BITMAIN adjusted its pricing for batch 3 S7's in relation to the time before block halving more than the difficulty.  Batch 3 S7's are at $1,658 instead of $1,823.  Each month that passes by before the block halving apparently is affecting the price of their rigs with the price of bitcoin virtually unchanged.

So, if Spondooliestech does not want to miss the boat for selling the SP50 with optimal returns, they might want to have them up for sell relatively soon.

It will be interesting to see how the block halving affects the pricing of rigs [If at all] as it approaches.

Does anyone know where I can buy some long 18pin cables for the control boards to the hashing cards?  I would like to run some experiments with some of my S5s.  I was referred to J4bberwock but there is not any response to pm.

Hi AriesIV10,

The quote below is from J4bberwock in his breakout board thread.  You can click on the heading above the quote to get to his thread.  He has a LOT going on at the moment.  However, the answer to your question is below.

I'm very busy at the moment, so I don't answer most of the PM until I have time to give concrete answer.
I actually take a few hours 2 or 3 times a week for the emails/PM.

Regarding the S5 data cables, I should get them in stock just after the chinese national holiday.
I believe I wrote it in the thread about the S5+/S7 controller a few days ago.

Also, I won't take new boards orders until the end of this week.

my miner came quickly, but it runs slowly.

i can not get past 4600 and errors are .1100

Sorry to hear that, Phil.  Maybe you can get a partial refund or one that performs to their quote.  It should be up to you on this one.  One would like to think so.

Thanks for the update.

I wouldn't call it an update since dannygroove ordered his on 9/1 and his hasn't shipped yet. I am hopeful that my order is shipped before October 12-14th since it throws off all of my ROI calculations if it is later. Sad

Ufo

I would call it one.  I could be wrong but it seems to indicate there will be employees working during the holiday.  They may be getting paid double time but it looks like they may be working.  Time will tell...

I am also interested in those long S5 18 pin cables, do you have an open price per with shipping estimate? I guess i'll send you a PM with my information shortly.

This is the first time i try to buy something from J4bberwock. Haven't gotten a reply in a few days. Is this is a normal waiting time when requesting to buy some cables here? I'm not in a super big rush but if its not possible to fill my request, i'll have to try to find another place to get long 18 pins cables, hmm...

I have done business with him before.  He's a very busy man.  He also has a LOT going on right now.  I've had to send him a PM and an email and get a reply the next day or two.  Once he replies and tells you he is going to do something, he does it.  Try shooting him a PM again.  He may respond soon.  I'm not sure about posting his email in the thread.  I would do it if I had his permission but I don't.

I can't paste the email because of their correspondence contract/disclaimer, but in general terms there were a ton of large orders on batch one. I ordered a couple of weeks after they popped up online and then they sold out a couple of weeks later, which puts me in the middle. I am changing jobs the second week of October, so I asked them if there was any chance I would receive my order before then. I work from home now and won't be at my new job, so I wanted to work on the logistics.

I was told that my order may ship the first part of October since there are so many large orders ahead of me.  Cry

Ufo

Thanks for the update.

I ordered on the first of september and still my unit hasnt shipped, is this normal?

Someone else might be able to answer that one better than I.  I didn't begin research on mining until batch 1 of the S3.  I jumped in at batch 8.  I bought batch 2 of the S4 and avoided PSU issues.  All of my S4's worked great!!!  No issues.

I'm just curious if we choose to wait if we can get a refund equivalent to or close to the price of batch 3 and be the first on the delivery list?  Me speculating about this is probably meaningless.  I may get no email except a notification of delivery of 4.86 TH/s rigs delivered within the 10 days after the stated shipping dates with no hiccups.  Only time will tell.

Hopefully everything in this thread are fairy tales. That's what I choose to believe until I hear otherwise from Bitmain!

Yes, I saw your point earlier.  I would hope some how they work it out.  I don't see their postal services shutting down.  Otherwise, everything shipped into China from overseas is held up in big warehouses and they would have a serious back log of deliveries.  I would be willing to bet their postal services will still be at work most of the holiday.  As for employees within BITMAIN working during the holiday:  Well, that remains to be seen.  Only time will tell.  I would like to think they will not be more than 10 days late with delivery.  I would imagine there will be a mad rush of getting out shipments over the next couple of days [Providing they have 4.86 TH/s rigs].  If they don't have 4.86 TH/s rigs, they will be sending out many emails over the next couple of days to determine if people want a $65 refund with a 4.66 TH/s rig or wait for the 4.86 TH/s rig.

My concern is mainly on the working class of Chinese labor, mainly the assembly line. If the manufacturing component of the equation is shutdown, it doesn't matter about the rest of national services that would be affected. It also depends on whether all of the chips and ancillary equipment are onhand or trickling in from suppliers. I will be surprised if my order isn't shipped by tomorrow COB China time if it arrives during the holiday.

I doubt I would take a refund this close to the halving with difficulty going up and lots of major mines upgrading. Too many variables for a small refund, but that's my perspective at this time. I want to mine as much as I can before the halving and close to 80% ROI, then sell them. It's a gamble this close to the halving, but it's only bitcoins. Smiley

Hard to say...  Just don't know what will happen.  I'm waiting on rigs or to hear from BITMAIN.
1753  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 29, 2015, 10:55:19 PM
Wondering the same thing. I still have my batch 1 S3 which is a dog compared to what they were to hash, but I did get a $75 refund if I remember right. Bitmain has been fair to me in the past but thinking I wish I had sat out this time. (the reason i waited so long to place the order 9/8)

I took so long to decide because of getting opinions on future difficulty and future price of bitcoin.  Part of me wishes I had just waited longer after seeing present price of batch 3 scheduled for delivery one month after the initial launch of batch 1.
1754  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 29, 2015, 10:18:42 PM
My point was if your order hasn't shipped by October 1st, I would be very surprised if any additional units ship until the 8th. Since it's a Chinese National holiday week where everything shuts down, likely "postal services" as well, it isn't looking good.

If I ordered mine in the middle of the first batch, based on opening and closing dates I doubt I will see mine until after the holiday. Sad

I wonder what the refund would be for waiting?  I say this because it's only fair to give a rebate for purchased 4.86 TH/s rigs that were delivered late.

Being an ass to someone that is holding $17k worth of my gear that hasn't shipped yet is not prudent Smiley

You do have a point there...

I am waiting on nine as well, ordered mine in the middle of the batch. I sent an email asking if there was any chance for my order to ship before the 'Chinese Golden Week" vacation on the 1st. The outlook is not good if your order doesn't show shipped by October 1st, but maybe they have a few poor bastards that have to work through the holiday!
Ufo

UfoRia,

Don't take this the wrong way:  Just trying to be as respectful as possible while asking a favor...

It doesn't help to call them names, man.  It really doesn't...

They are kind enough to continue selling hardware to us.  Yes, I know we have hiccups at the moment with shipment but I'm sure things will be made good no matter the outcome.

Just be patient and and let's all wait in a calm manner please.

Again, no disrespect intended.  I'm just trying to urge others to remain calm without name calling.

Regards,

David

Who did I call a name?

Google -> Chinese Golden Week 2015

http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/china/

It's a week long Chinese celebration, not a racial slur.... I work in IT and I have to work through holidays, so I am one of those bastards often.

Ufo

That's all I was referring to was "bastards."  They might take it the wrong way.  Again, no disrespect was intended.  No "finger pointing" was intended.  I know what your intent was with the use of the word I just didn't want BITMAIN to take it the wrong way.  Some in China might take it as calling all of them "bastards" cause they don't understand sentence structure of English very well.

So, again, no "finger pointing" intended.  I knew what you intended to convey.  I know you're not an ass hole.  You just were probably a bit unfortunate I used your post to try to discourage others who may wish to bad mouth BITMAIN.  I'm not saying you had bad mouthed BITMAIN.  I've just read a few post [Other than yours] in different threads on bitcointalk.org that actually demeans BITMAIN.  You haven't done that.

Best regards,

David

Thanks mate, didnt see that.

@-droid-

sure, but 13% off for 4% less hashingpower and 1 month late. I can live with that.

Agreed.

Actually it is... 600MHz / 4860GH  * 575MHz = 4657GH

So guess what... They are running with 575MHz instead of 600MHz -> I bet my left hand on it. Cheesy

The price is quite good, I'm in for a batch 2 now. Does anyone have an S7 coupon to sell? Thanks.

Look on this page for two members wanting someone to PM them if they are interested.

I have one more $100 dollar coupon.  I am wiling to part with it for .1 BTC if anyone is interested.  Sold

Don't forget those coupons out there as they make it a even better deal now that the S7 is a tad lower.

Did you get coupons for buying S5+ or what?  I don't have any.  I bought nine (9) batch 1 S7's on 09/09/2015 and don't have coupons.  Hopefully, it doesn't take too long to ship.
