vitalick could you please answer

[1] I don't quite see how the price to execute etherium code will be determined.

there has to be some sort of clever system based on realtime or near realtime demand for, well what ever the limitation is to get things into the next block?

it could be an etheirum fork would set fees lower......

etherium = a bundle of switches, how do you price using a switch? ( iasked the same question of master coin and still don't have  an answer....)

[2] I am also wondering if some sort of of chain processing can be done, and results are somehow integrated back into the etherium chain, that can be verified thus reduce bottle necks.....

still no answer to [1]...

Regarding #1, it's something we're currently actively researching and modeling. You can read some of Vitalik's though on the subject at http://blog.ethereum.org/2014/02/01/on-transaction-fees-market-based-solutions/

Thanks could you also answer

lso if NXT gets turning complete scripting/language (and it appears to be happening now) what advantages remain for etherium over NXT?

Ok, so it looks like I hit the nail on the head this is a crucial question, and etherium is a bundle of switches waiting to be arbitraged out by a fork, if fees are too high.

Thinking out loud

Perhaps you need a special attribute of "time" to colour etherium with, So ethreium coins have two core attributes, on of unit of sale like bit coin, that is 1 eth = 1eth,  and the current usage of the computational power of ethrium weights in a relative value to each etherium.

that multiplication of the two gives the market rate of etherium.

thus the usage / demand  of the network can dynamically colour an attribute of the coin. say the whole processing network is operating at 1000/s Unit, and has a capacity of 10000 units/s then, the number of eth in existence can be weighted by PRactual/PRcapacity *1/Number of eth.

So the code must have some sort of ability to detect execution requests, so that overcapacity can be dealt with, e.g. 1Million / 1000.

this raises the problem of knowing how much a program will request before you execute it......to solve this, the task should be thrown that allows a code to run on vm local cpu of with test net ruthenium, and an execution rate per second, that has its power defined as current ethrium network CPU.

thus your entering into a PID sort of feed forward/Feed back control system, (better brush of those nyquist stably theorems etc). I'm not sure there is any other way around this. The market does exactly the same thing but at a slower pace by simply releasing etherium forks.

A final note maybe that some how to allow all process to be run on an executors own cpu and only results at the interface be verified.Etherium seems to be pose the question of distributed computing needs to be tied together and pooled to solve a single problem in an efficient not cheat able manner.
1743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGECOIN IS FORKED!!!! Check dogechain and its already hardforked on: February 18, 2014, 12:56:26 AM
its ok, BTC got through this, and went on stronger just a cheap coins event.

FTC was forked for a different reason.

The devs may want to think about how LTC has attracted real talent, e.g. wogtami.

I am sure Doge can raise a massive dev fund, 1doge's for a dev fund that will attract some quality talent.

1746  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BANK RUN! - P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange on: February 17, 2014, 01:26:43 AM
Ok big issue

when the receiver of the BTC does not sign off the multi sig, he wins.

He has the cash, he withdraws it so bank can not claw back, or physically has it.

what motivation does he have to sign BTC over?

eg by no signing he acutly increases his wealth (sender is poorer) and marginally increases his and every one else BTC worth, by leaving BTC locked up.

time this by millions of transactions and you get alot of BTC locked up forever, and sender looses

1747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alt dilution / market share. on: February 17, 2014, 01:21:13 AM
I don't really have a problem with the lacK of $ to alts straight out access, as BTC can serve as an intermediary.

I think the endgame will be something like this.

there will be millions if not billions of alts.

there will be a mutlti wallet/pos/distibuted p2p that can handle them all (one was already built in 2012 I think that can handle alot of block chains)

sort of like web pages, there ended up being billions of those as well floating around on TCIP/HTTP.

The desire to make an alt comes from 2 directs, missing out as an early adopter, thus the only way to get in at a cheaper price than FIAT, and evolution of alts into something better than what exists.

early adopters of BTC holders are not only forced to diversify, but can afford to, as a % of thier holdings.

Eg a BTC holder with 2000 BTC that diversified even 1 BTC into NXT,doge or LTC would now be see a return on investment far larger tham just holding BTC, and could cover their initial BTC investment 10' or 100's of times over. Sure they would loose alot in other alts, but picking by class is important.

Early BTC holders that don't diversify have their holding diminished relative in % to those that  by those that do, as those that do can buy more BTC.

A few leaders in each class will stand out, eg

sha BTC
Scrypt doge/LTC
POW+POS, PeerCoin
POS, NXT, NEM, Pink,
other Emunie
new hash system, PRIME, Cure,

the rest not so much

1748  Economy / Speculation / Re: So what to stop MarKKarples from withdrawing btc from gox and arbing it? on: February 17, 2014, 01:12:01 AM
That is a really stupid paranoid thought dude.. U are thinking like a fish.. He doesn't need to do that to earn money or whatever.. And even if mtgox lost btc he has thousand and weekly is earning Millions.. he can cover if he loses some btc.. which i think he didnt.. and going to sell "his" to bitstamp would be same than giving trading commisions to bitstamp.. This is by far the most stupid thought i've heard man.. And u should re-read the "arbitrage" concept.

just because some one has money does not stop them from wanting to make more

this would be mark only arbing while holding every ones else BTC and FIAT on his exchange essentially he is leveraging no only their coins, but the fact he has exclusive control over a lot of funds, and the markets attention.

him selling at a higher price and then buying more lower on his own exchange is the very definition of arbitrage.

so address 2 is always the change address?
1750  Economy / Speculation / Alt dilution / market share. on: February 16, 2014, 09:31:43 PM
We must have in the order of 1000 alts now.

even at say 10 thousand each thats 10 million.

Whats increasing faster market cap of alts or BTC?

It seems that one outcome of this is there will be millions if not billions of alts. Everything with a processor runs its own alt.

whats the endgame of this?

1751  Economy / Speculation / Re: Transferring 25k into Gox to buy at current prices on: February 16, 2014, 01:25:21 PM
I would rather open an account with either AvaTrade or Plus500 and go long on the GoxBTC/GoxUSD currency pair. There is a good chance that this trade can be profitable, and one can then get the USD out and trade then for BTC at market through an exchange that is working.

First of all, kudos to you for understanding counterparty risk.

However, I don't think this will work.  I checked out both AvaTrade and Plus500 and they close all bitcoin positions monthly, on the same day of the month for all accounts, which almost certainly means that they are putting in a wire transfer request to gox once a month.  If that wire doesn't come back and not enough customers show up in the first week-or-so of next month to offset, they will proceed to screw the previous month's customers for the balance, appealing to force majeure.  I'm pretty sure their risk management strategy here is to pipeline the whole thing and then drag their feet on withdrawals if the pipeline dries up while gox is in no-wire-transfer mode.

It's the Lloyd's reinsurance-to-close scam, writ small.

ahhhh so a whole months worth of trade win can be gox'd....I don't quite get what you mean by "not enough customers show up", you shorts so they can internally balance?
1752  Economy / Speculation / Re: (Poll) Will BTC break 266 on MtGox ? on: February 16, 2014, 01:07:43 PM
looks like it will go down to 200$ soon, gox is running out of buyers/fiat to buy all these coins.

looks like it will go down to 200$ soon, gox is running out of buyers/fiat to buy all these "coins".
1753  Economy / Speculation / Re: (Poll) Will BTC break 266 on MtGox ? on: February 16, 2014, 01:07:03 PM
I like icecream, and Gox is on the fast-track to $0.  Money is never coming out of there again in any form,

this is gold! brilliant....

1754  Economy / Speculation / So what to stop MarKKarples from withdrawing btc from gox and arbing it? on: February 16, 2014, 01:00:59 PM
this has to be happening right?

essentially if there are btc left at gox, he can arby the f,,,,k out of it now.

thus bringing the market down agian.

also if btc there does go to $1 at gox do you just go and buy for the hell of it just in case

there is  no such thing as manipulators, people can only buy in and sell with the resources they have.

1757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Litecoin vs Doge vs Quark vs Peercoin vs Namecoin on: February 15, 2014, 11:32:47 PM
Peercoin - Pretty inactive community, but they have POS/POW hybrid.

I respectfully disagree. Fair bit of activity at peercointalk.org indicates otherwise.

also 4 full time devs and $500K peershare project

1759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Scripts (progress and discussion) on: February 15, 2014, 04:30:05 PM
also could you write a javascript implenentaion of nxt client....?

I think that I shouldn't have used the word "script" (anyone got a better name?).

Although we may well add some sort of "higher level" language later (which might look similar to some popular scripting languages) at this stage we are focused on something that will be much more primitive.

no I know what you mean by "script"

I was just wondering independently could you write most of the nxt client in javascript
