17501  Other / Off-topic / Re: Job Vs Bitcoin on: July 20, 2017, 01:37:04 PM
Wish I had the luxury of a job to quit!

If you need the one reason you should keep your job until you are actually "rich from Bitcoin": you can keep buying Bitcoin with your leftover salary. Use your free time to do whatever it is you need to do to "get rich from it"... trading? investing? Even if you never do anything else, you have whatever you can spare - $50 or $100 you can put aside every month as savings in crypto. Maybe in a couple of years, or five, or ten, you have a lot more? Quit when you're ahead, not before.
17502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥🔥110$ MONSTERBYTE daily Giveaway added - Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Picks thread on: July 20, 2017, 01:26:55 PM
ICO was clogged up at the opening but I managed to get a little of the action. This was one of the very few ICOs I've seen with an actual business to expand on so it didn't need much convincing from my end.

Today's prediction: I'm going to go for one of the lower seeds today based on odds instead. My pick for today's Men's Singles:
Andy Murray - Fabio Fognini
Murrayto win straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-2

Hi guys! Thanks for all the tips and giveaways! I checked the winners list in the other thread and saw that there's no one on the 7th? I made a correct pick (just not on the money for the exact sets), so if no one else claimed it, I'd like to be considered.

Either way, enjoyed your threads a lot, hope to still follow more action, especially with football season about to start next month!
17503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: simulation software or platform for Ethereum on: July 20, 2017, 09:58:27 AM
You'll want to look at specific trading platforms similar to forex brokers, and then try out their Demo or Practice accounts. Basically this just means you trade at real market prices, but without actual deposits.

A couple of sites offering ETH pairs: hitbtc.com plus500.com

I think e-toro used to offer ETH, not sure about now.
17504  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1 Million satoshis per day on: July 20, 2017, 08:30:29 AM
According to the creator of Gunbot (you can see his thread on the Services section), his software autotrades for about 1% profit per day based on aggressive day trading. Trades that close in minutes rather than hours. That'll give you 1 million satoshis on a 1 BTC bankroll. It's an unrealistic target for me, besides not having the capital nor the appetite for such risk. But I suppose it's possible.

Thanks for the link. I always enjoy a bit of documentary every now and then, still haven't found someone as interesting as Antonoupoulos (sp.?). If anyone's interested in torrenting this film, magnet link below. Also, its alternative title is "The Battle for Bitcoin":

17506  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-18] Bitcoin Jumps After First Solution to Major Ideological Divide on: July 20, 2017, 06:00:07 AM

Bitcoin is finally back from such a very depressive mode days ago when things are not yet so clear as to whether there can be a split and if there is how messy can it get. Now, the market is getting calm maybe in preparation for what can finally transpire on and after August 1....when things will be smooth and fast.

This should have been done a long time had these people that should have decide not choose to dillydally the whole thing. We could have been soaring into the sky by now. Anyway, this is almost a history for now so let's learn the many lessons this episode can be teaching us.

I think even back in 2014/15, it was recognised that scaling technology would always be behind, that we would always only scale today for yesterday's needs - just like the Internet for most parts of the world, always playing catch up since the 90s. Then again, there are still those in the camp that believe the need was overplayed and the mempool the last few weeks might offer some truth to this view.
17507  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-18] Bitcoin Jumps After First Solution to Major Ideological Divide on: July 19, 2017, 05:36:10 PM
Just another empty article IMHO. All what have been written was already known to us. Although its good to see that the price has bounce back after a very nervous and turbulent days ago. I guess bitcoin ecosystem is heading to a right direction. Also, their is a rampant buying when the price of bitcoin is low then continue when the news about Segwit2x software being implemented by a lot of miners.

Perhaps the news might look redundant in this community, but Bloomberg does have a steeply conservative following - at least in the parts of Asia I'm accustomed to. This might be the first time many will have heard of this long-drawn "civil war". I imagine it would make an interesting primary resource for political economists at any rate.

Its about to be HT and still no goals, Liverpool has managed a better ball possession than Palace, there will be definetely a goal in 2nd halk and most probly the first one will be done by Liverpool.
Odds are nice now for Liverpool fans: 1.75.

I got the pre-match odds of 1.58 but this was still a comfortable enough win. Benteke hardly saw the ball, new kid Solanke got a nice goal and Origi had a simple instinctive shot. Terrible to watch otherwise, when the whole team is substituted. What do you say, guys? An early bet for the final vs Vardy and gang?
17509  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-17] Overstock Chairman: It’s ‘Crazy’ More Retailers Don’t Accept Bitcoi on: July 19, 2017, 12:08:22 PM
That's like a shop telling you: oh, of course we accept any currency you want to use, but please pay through the moneychanger next door.

It's a normal thing I guess. After all, we can't blame merchants for making Bitcoin payments possible through whatever third party payment processor. It's the volatility they mainly try to avoid, and also the fact that they mostly aren't interested in Bitcoin at all. It's just a way to *potentially* increase their revenue. Just look at things from this point -> if there weren't any third party payment processors such as Coinbase, or BitPay, 99.9% of the merchants wouldn't even consider adding Bitcoin as payment option.

Oh, I totally get it, which is why I recognise that this is my personal beef. What I'm saying is that I don't consider this true adoption, as this type of merchant isn't keeping any Bitcoin value from customers at all, merely exchanging the value. I wouldn't be able to say that top 10 retailers in the world accept my local currency (Malaysian ringgit) because I can use Visa/Mastercard/Paypal to transfer a USD value to them, nor would a retailer announce that they proudly accept Malaysian ringgit as payment if I pay through Visa/Mastercard/Paypal.

I know it's semantics, but yeah Smiley

This point is also important to consider when viewing actual adoption rates in the retail industry.
17510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥🔥110$ MONSTERBYTE daily Giveaway added - Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Picks thread on: July 19, 2017, 11:50:03 AM
Oh, what a coincidence, I placed a small bet on this game. Liverpool's the strong favourites, but the 1.58 odds means bookies aren't exactly impressed by their summer dealings. Hendo's fit, so is Sturridge - fitter than ever before according to Klopp! Just hope we don't get any injuries before EPL starts.
17511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥🔥110$ MONSTERBYTE daily Giveaway added - Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Picks thread on: July 19, 2017, 06:14:21 AM

I did read the title. I am wllowed to ask as many questions as I want. It's my bitcoins and I won't just throw them at an investment without asking a million questions. That how people lose money and cry afterwards. I have lost very little Bitcoin but made alot through investing and this is how I do it. By asking questions. I can read dude I know what the title says. Just because something says something doesn't make it true. Nothing wrong with confirming and making sure. Or must I just throw my bitcoins at any idea I hear ?
Also like that guy who comments on my post said it was a typo and it's $55 not $110. You say nothing to invest . Not now no. But when it kicks off then yes. No need to be rude.

Sorry if I was rude, accept my apology Smiley This was a giveaway thread with no investment requirement - your question should have been asked in the ICO thread, where a linked whitepaper describes the answers you would have been looking for in quite good detail. Of course you should do as much due diligence as possible if you're going to invest!
17512  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-17] Overstock Chairman: It’s ‘Crazy’ More Retailers Don’t Accept Bitcoi on: July 19, 2017, 05:31:12 AM
The only issue I have (it's just a small one perhaps) is how sites like these champion Bitcoin but actually only accept Bitcoin through a payment processor like Coinbase (which is what Overstock does). To me, what merchants like these actually they mean is, they only accept fiat but they provide a way for you to exchange your Bitcoin to fiat via their 3rd party (Coinbase pays merchants in fiat after converting the bitcoins you pay).

That's like a shop telling you: oh, of course we accept any currency you want to use, but please pay through the moneychanger next door.

Of course there are added costs to that. That's my beef.
17513  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-18] Some ICOs Now Ban Americans – Who Should Expect More Ostracism on: July 19, 2017, 05:08:07 AM
That "ban" has been in place for a while with ICOs, though I noticed it first with gambling sites. It's usually mentioned in T&C. Monaco and the like probably designed the block from registration, making it apparent.

Want to bet how many investors would be checked for Non-US authenticity? Impossible to, anyway.

Back to the topic of the thread: I missed out on the last two tips but I haven't seen an update on telegram for a while now. Anything interesting much? Not looking at trading signals for the moment - at least until mid-Auguest before I'll put any coin in exchanges again.
17515  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-17] The Biggest Mining Pool is Now Signaling to Keep Bitcoin Whole on: July 18, 2017, 03:11:44 PM
I am happy, because I don't need to move my coins from the exchange wallet now.

It only makes a chain split less likely, and that's really it. In order to be on the safe side, it is still a wise option to withdraw your Bitcoins from any exchange. Aside from the chain split speculations, it doesn't cost any significant effort to withdraw your coins back to your own wallet -- not sure why you make it seem like a relief that you don't have to do so. I always keep my coins off exchange, and so should others if they aren't trading or whatever....

Yeah.Whatever the news coming out, bear in mind that journalists need to make quotas and analysts need to remind people they're busy. But the precaution stands. Keep your coins safe and wait for this period to be over.

Wait and see.
17516  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why does every single BTC exchange suck?! on: July 18, 2017, 01:25:19 PM

This is exactly right.  I've sent a VERY simple question to Coinbase that any schmuck with a 1 hour online training course of knowledge could have answered ( 4 weeks ago ) and have yet to receive a response.  Like you said..They've raked in more than any of them ever imagined this quickly.  It seems to me they have become quite complacent with status-quo and aren't serious about advancing Bitcoins existence and commonality.

These exchanges seem to break some of the most simple business 101's.

Domino's and Panera are two good examples of companies who've decided to make things SO DAMN EASY for their customers by implementing such basic and simple ideas into their technology (websites and app's) that it has resulted into skyrocketing share prices.  I am not saying these exchanges are the multi-billion dollar powerhouses that are Dominos and Panera ..but slight improvements like these companies have made can go a long way.

It's hard to hear expenses for improvement are too vast. I'm quite confident profits major exchanges have realized are obscene and if they aren't as abundant as I assume they have been then I'm positive that they wouldn't have that hard of a time finding VC's to help foot the bill.  Just my 2.

I guess that as long as these crypto businesses (ICOs and exchangers) can continue to defy the conventional wisdom of business and plough through with incredible profits while ignoring the very basic needs of working customer service, they won't be changing their business model any time soon.

Pls tell me you have actually purchased your legendary account, pls let me have faith in people.....

It will take me probably less than 15 minute to give you 10 quotes from "legendary" members that will leave you listening to faithless for the rest of your life.
And you'll get "insomania" also Smiley))))))

I think I'm beginning to understand now what legendary comments can also mean. Perhaps it's time to recognise those who go beyond legendary, honouring their "epic" comments. *note to self* read the comments, not the member levels.
17518  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Another opportunity to buy Bitcoin at Cheap price on: July 18, 2017, 10:01:56 AM
The usual price of BTC would still be way lower than this.  It's been mental since it passed $1000.

If you look at the chart (go to the 1 year chart), you can see that it goes off the rails as of December 2016 basically.  After that it's just a series of unnecessary rallies and merchant adoption hasn't backed them up IMO.  We can all say "they're recognising BTC!" but in every bull market we say the same thing, and in reality these things happen more gradually.

We haven't seen the real blood yet.  If there's a proper bear market, the bottom could go under $1000.  If we're still in a bull market after SegWit activation, we could retest the ATH for sure, but I'd rather we didn't.  These price movements just aren't healthy.

Glad to see ETH finally getting its comeuppance though.

Despite the majority of analysts, including long term advocates, saying that it's overheated and way overvalued, I guess the sheer volume of hitherto observing speculators are keeping the bear at bay. Price is stubbornly keeping just above 2000.

ETH comeuppance not quite there yet, although all talk of the flippening should quiet down.
17519  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: July 18, 2017, 08:20:30 AM

I'm not following how the gambling makes it different though. You're depositing a different amount than withdrawing, sure, but you could just as easily deposit x and withdraw x-y as well (without the risk) and then do the rest later.

I'm not sure if this is very accurate but if I mix X, I would presumably be withdrawing A+n =X-fees-donations.

But if I gamble I would be withdrawing A+n = X+(profit/loss)-fees-donations. It's possible that I could be withdrawing more, or less. but since profit or loss is unknown, it just makes it harder to determine .

At the very least, the gambling scenario adds the possibility that I end up with more than I mixed. An added rule any attempt at detection would be forced to have.
17520  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-17] Scaling Countdown: Miners Begin Running Segwit2x Software on: July 18, 2017, 07:23:12 AM
Well, I would eat a shoe and a bag, if that is the case. Kidding aside, let's hope this marks the much-needed solution for Bitcoin problems we are presently experiencing. Though we should not expect it to be perfect as the whole Bitcoin is really an evolving organism, at least this should be providing respite before we should be tacking new challenges ahead.

Now, I am not a person who fully grasp everything happening right now in Bitcoin (well generation gap can be playing a big role here) so I am wondering if this does mean there would be a split or no need for a split? Anybody here who can tell me pointblank please...

Heya Tom, wondering if we have the same generation gap (I'm at the tail end of Gen X!). Pointblank answer not available, unfortunately. But this move does make one of the possible splits more likely, as it is going along one of the possible paths illustrated as below:
