17581  Economy / Securities / Re: Looking for small investment on: July 27, 2017, 08:21:16 PM
Dear Aaron, sounds like you've got a good thing going. If you're very confident about your business, and it is already generating profit, then spend a bit of time to work on a business plan, get your bookkeeping in order (the most basic level accounting is fine) and produce a financial statement that would pass basic UK auditing. This shouldn't take you more than a few weeks if you only have 10 players and run it on your own.

Once you have that, you have a solid case to make and can even apply for a small loan to a UK P2P, BTCpop. It's really cleaned up over the past year from what I can tell and a strong business plan will surely get you investors. The interest rate would let you keep more of your profits.

No that is not okay! Wink Here is my entry now. Let's assume you'll get the participants by your 20-day extrapolation. I reckon we'll get a few more after Aug anyway.

Bitcointalk name: buwaytress
Altcoin I choose: Peercoin
I will pay 0.01 BTC once 10 people joined: Yes

17583  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Hero Small-scale 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Experiment on: July 27, 2017, 02:22:09 PM
Hello there Loyce! I'm finding it rather pleasant to be more and more familiar with the regular users of BCT. I'm definitely in, but my pick is somewhat reliant on the timing of the buy. Would we be allowed to confirm our pick just before you make the buy? If not, I'll enter a little later.
17584  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 27, 2017, 09:47:23 AM
Look guys, lessons to be learnt and learn them well. Whatever the reasons, we know now as we have been told many times: do not store your coins in exchanges/sites/casinos unless they're needed there for trading/investment.

I myself have substantial (for me) amounts in trading, lending and investment but that's also subject to diversification. I know any of them could close shop at any time. What you need, keep securely.

I do feel bad for traders of course... I would definitely feel the hurt if a few of my trades are eaten should one of my exchanges die like this.
17585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goldman Sachs predicts Bitcoin may get as high as $3600 in the next wave on: July 27, 2017, 08:57:18 AM
Sach's previous two analyses were eerily correct (their very first two at that!), especially when they seemed relatively brazen at the time. Hasn't changed my mind about expert analysis but perhaps whoever they hired as their main analyst for Bitcoin isn't as bumbling as I've come to expect from these giants. If there is a wave in the coming weeks, the new ATH over 3k should reach a considerable swell.

I'm more conservative. 3,400 should still be the 2017 unrealised target.
17586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥🔥110$ MONSTERBYTE daily Giveaway added - Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Picks thread on: July 27, 2017, 08:35:43 AM
@ralle yeah this is the second set of tips from the duo I'm following. If you'd bet the same amount on their first set, you'd be up 45%. This one I didn't follow properly but am up 50% already also using the same pattern (fixed 10% amount of bankroll). Granted I think I missed 3 tips, one of which was a losing one.

@ajax and Joca I'm thinking of setting up 3 separate trackings for your individual and joint tip. I'm just too busy though!
17587  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: August 1st... Y2K 2.0? on: July 27, 2017, 07:01:07 AM
The ICOs are very reminiscent of the dot com bubble. I daresay it's even worse in terms of over-evaluation. I probably know too little about current ICOs, but so far none of them have stricken me as the next Google or Amazon. To me personally they all look like Pets.coms.

About Bitcoin / Ethereum in general I don't worry so much, personally. While a lot of companies went bust during the dot com bubble, the infrastructure, the internet itself kept growing regardless. I think Bitcoin and Ethereum are more akin to the internet, than to the dot com companies in this case.

Funny you mentioned pets.com. The ICOs look like Myspace profiles competing for upvotes.

I can't speak other than from the history I've managed to gather from old threads but this 2017 ICO flurry seem to be a repeat cycle of 2014/15, except perhaps with a more pronounced presence. The proliferation of alts and development of tokenisation on blockchains in 2016 probably led up to this moment. The ICOs are definitely a reflection of the dot-coms. Wildly speculative IPOs and aggressive marketing - without the extreme overheads of the dotcoms who hired in the hundreds and opened lavish offices.
17588  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Counterwallet - how to empty wallet? on: July 27, 2017, 06:21:34 AM
Try to import your wallet with the Counterwallet seed phrase at FreeWallet and send your whole balance from there.

Some time ago I had some tokens in a old wallet and didn't had the BTC 0.0005 required to do transactions with Counterwallet. So I just used FreeWallet to do the transaction with a fee of 0.0001 and it worked;

Of course... I didn't think of sweeping! Thanks for that! It'll probably make sense to do it once I have those several addresses of about 0.0005 each. Again, it's not so much the money - even if it may end up being worth more than a few dollars. Just don't like the idea of gathering dust. Makes me wonder how much bitcoin is left languishing on wallets with miniscule amounts.
17589  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: August 1st... Y2K 2.0? on: July 26, 2017, 08:07:29 PM
I doubt you're alone in having lived through the .com bust or even the digital cash crash that followed years after (I'm a vet of the latter).

Haven't forgotten my lessons, and have never risked anything. All my coins are earned and a lot of it goes out to fiat to support income. If "this" bursts, I'll definitely hurt. But it won't be the end of the world.

It won't be for most of us, hopefully.
17590  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The BTC BCC exchange paradox on: July 26, 2017, 07:16:46 PM
I am not taking part in the race towards the split chain. I am staying aside by exchanging my btc to altcoins. I have bought some doge and ripple and i am going to leave them on the exchange and see what is going to happen. Its the first time bitcoin is facing the fork so we really can predict what the outcome is going to be. If we stay on btc there are chances that we might profit some or lose some but not holding btc assures of no loss atleast.

Except that the majority of alts rise and fall in value in tandem with BTC. Then again, maybe the split will result in this dependence becoming looser. Maybe alts will also swing wildly for a while, waiting for the stronger chain to once more dictate their value.

EUROPE: Champions League - Qualification - Semi-finals
Maribor (Slo) wins
Maribor (Slo) - Hafnarfjordur (Ice)
26.07.2017 20:20
Maribor wins odd 1.60

Nice tip, I'm also tipping Maribor to make a return to the Champions League group stage after a 17-year absence. They're going to have to get past this tricky Icelandic team first though. Less than a month til football hits peak, slim pickings will have to do.
17592  Economy / Web Wallets / Counterwallet - how to empty wallet? on: July 26, 2017, 05:40:37 PM
Hi! Hoping someone can help out.

I opened a counterwallet address for easy access to a token on the Bitcoin blockchain but I have a small issue on emptying out the BTC address. When spending bitcoins, you can choose Normal, Low priority or specify your own. However, it seems to have a minimum amount set aside from the balance as fee. I've now tried to spend the entire amount, leaving aside the minimum (about 50k satoshi) but both txs used less than this blocked amount, each time leaving behind a small amount of BTC in the address.

Is there a way to empty it completely? It's not of particular concern of course, being only over a dollar's worth but I intend to have several addresses and I don't want to end up with 10 addresses with a dollar in each. Eventually, these will add up.

Hey buwaytress,

Thank you for your application!

Don't worry about sounding superfluous, as it is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

As long as we are honest with each other, this idea can become a reality.

To add some value to what you are saying:

The networking aspect of any career is very important, and being able to create value in relationships is something that is incredibly powerful. The approach is win-win, so all sides involved have to experience a positive ROI, on their time, energy, and money.

Any industry thrives on collaboration, and it is not easy to achieve a state of coworking, but if done properly it can and most likely will increase the effectiveness of everyone's work.

To all others:

If you feel that you have a special skill that is marketable, don't miss this opportunity to apply!

You're welcome! I hope we get to talk anyway and learn something from each other, if you do decide I'm good enough to connect with! Cooperation/co-working is, as you say, not easy. The more talented the individuals, the more difficult to work together, the more difficult to reach... dare I say, consensus? Wink The rewards are always great enough to attempt it, that's the good news.
17594  Economy / Economics / Re: Valuation of Bitcoin hard forked coins; specifically BCC on: July 26, 2017, 10:57:11 AM
BCC is currently shown at a valuation of 0.2 BTC on viabtc's futures market. Is this an artificial valuation or indicative of the actual value of the hard-forked coin?

It's just a futures market. Look at the bitfinex (I think it was bitfinex) exchange where they listed Bitcoin Core against Bitcoin Unlimited futures.

By the way and something funny: Bitcoin Cash is now trying to use 2 already used tokens:

BitConnect uses BCC
BitcoinCore futures in bitfinex also use BCC

The confusion wil be big now that most tags are taken by other coins. Nobody can take BTC away from the original chain.

First off, there's no rule against doing what via are doing, and rightly so should be classified as futures. But yeah, I did wonder if they realise BCC is already "taken" by BitConnect. I won't be surprised if BCC gets bought up accidentally.
17595  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Investments in the media on: July 26, 2017, 10:50:34 AM
Given some of the service-disrupting attention generated by pre-launch ICO coverage in the media, I'd say marketing/PR investment hasn't lost its value at all. The most reputable news portals charge several thousand per press release. Even if they rake in one or two high-value investors, it would have already paid of. People don't seem to care if it's a paid press release.
17596  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-24] Kosovo's First Bitcoin ATM, Central Bank Warns on: July 26, 2017, 10:01:03 AM
When Malaysia installed its first ATMs (both in very hip, yuppie neighbourhoods, in shopping mall areas), the resulting media coverage also helped prompt the central bank (Bank Negara Malaysia) to issue the very same warning in 2014, which stands to this day. Both ATMs are now defunct, despite increasing volumes of turnover in Malaysia.
17597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash BCC might be a threat against the Nash Equilibrium on: July 26, 2017, 09:02:27 AM
Whoever would think of trading or mining BCC, besides the intial dump which we ll all do, directly undermines crypot economy and all future profits we might all have from crypto. Why? If BCC does take roots, who says they wont fork everytime they d like to make more money on unsuspecting noobs. In my book, BCC does not exist beyond the initial dump which I ll do the moment I get those coins.

You think what s the best for you as crypto holders.

On a rational base I would say exactly the same.

Big issue: Humans are NOT rational.

And we do not know hidden agendas (Chinese , PBoC,  Asia at all - no clue !)

And there is dynamics making all more complex.

We need to see how that plays out.

What we need to understand is that almost every party is doing exactly what we think we're doing. Acting on a rational base. Individuals by design cannot possibly share the same rational base. What is rational to them is not to us, vice versa. Like it or not, profit will be the loudest rationale to the majority of us. When it isn't clear which direction will lead to that, we hold, wait and see. It's really the only option we can afford, since we're not all swimming in coins.
17598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥🔥110$ MONSTERBYTE daily Giveaway added - Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Picks thread on: July 26, 2017, 08:55:35 AM
Turned out to be a 1-0 win, not even close to the 3 goals we needed but I suppose we were due for a loss! Do you guys take a look at the Asian footie? They're incredibly difficult for me to predict over unders, but I suspect there's money to be made with bookies also not certain.
17599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: @RogerVer can little guys get in on this deal too on: July 26, 2017, 07:56:15 AM
Dear OP, would you consider all us little fish pooling in to present a small pondfish? Like you and Loaded, we all want to put the money where our mouths are and won't mind a chance to double up on BTC with every split.

Its ok but where do i have to place this bet "Brasil de Pelotas vs ABC - Over 2 Goals @ 1.63x" in order to receive your bets daily? Do i have to place bets on any of the three gambling platform provided by Monsterbet.io?

Hey adoalli! I've been following this thread and happy to see a bet I'm in time for today. You don't have to bet anywhere to benefit from their tips. Just take their tip and bet at any sportsbook you already have. I currently still use the sportsbook at bitcoinrush.io (which is owned by the guys behind Monsterbet).
