Could pls tell the most secure and also convinent to use btc wallet. thanks
Don't use web wallet if you want only secure, but if you want to easy to use it every where use it(that the web wallet).

If i want to secure... what should i use if dont want to use the wallet?

Check the paper or coldstorage to keep it safe. If you keep it their your bitcoin will be safe and if you open it after 50 years also that make the price also high.

The great thing is if you have a smart phone there are apps to look up BTC address and holdings.  I use a app on my phone to monitor some of my BTC address's and have 0 access to them from phone.  So is great can monitor without worrying about security as I don't keep private key or anything like that on phone.

I have a hot wallet with a little but don't keep much  in hot wallets as I really support paper and hardware wallets.
1762  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 07, 2016, 04:19:46 AM
s8,s9,s10,s11, wut "S" is cummin'

I see another batch of S7's so likely Batch 12 is my guess.  On S7 there was just a lot of leaks hinting it was coming out so I don't think they are going to a new chip or anything huge.  One day a S7+ would not surprise me.  But I don't think anything super new, if they do they sure did a good job at getting rid of leaks.

I am speculating Batch 12.... but I could be very wrong.
1763  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: March 07, 2016, 04:16:58 AM
1. How do you know which version of A6 you have? I understand there are 2 hardware revisions for A6, so how do you find out which version you have?

Another way to tell is hash rate, as the Rev 2's have a higher base rate - closer to 3.7 than 3.5.

2. Both of my A6 have hot spots on the bottom side. Is it okay to place it upside down? I think I can reduce the heat coming from the bottom side by directing forced air on it if it's placed upside down. Are there something innards that can fall from being placed upside down?

The reason I was told that they have a hot spot on the bottom is because the heat sink is closer to the case on the bottom - plus there's a pretty big open air cavity on the top.  Flipping them over probably wouldn't hurt, and might also help address the issue that hot air sometimes gets trapped in that upper area (because it doesn't have a clean air inlet that goes over the controller board), which can cause the controller to read higher temps than actual ambient.

And yes, those Sanyo Denki Ace fan's are sweet in terms of quality, price and performance!  I use them on all my PSU's as well...

Thank you, MarkAz!

The Avalon 6 miners I bought from you work great! They're Version 2 hardware. OgNasty as escrow is another gentleman. I can recommend both MarkAz and OgNasty, they're an example of true gentlemanship in this cesspool of scammers and low-life scums that infest the forum.

I was also happy with my purchase from MarkAz and used OgNasty to escrow.  And the Sanyo Denki Ace fans are very good.

I would agree on Sanyo Denki, they are good with high RPM depending on what model.   Have not used one on a A6 but in day's of S4's it was my fan of choice if a S4 needed replacement.

So don't think you can go wrong with them I always had good luck with them.
1764  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are miners doing with their profits? on: March 07, 2016, 04:12:00 AM
Most of the coins are likely being sold to pay for mining expenses at these levels unless there is evidence that most miners are real speculators and they are off-setting their expenses so they can take a mine & hold strategy?
Holding and trading are better ways to make bitcoin than just selling; a good trader can make money from his miners even if the miner has negative roi assuming the market is good. holding isn't a good idea at the moment, because btc seems to be holding at the price of 400 at the moment. But yes , most miners do sell their bitcoin as it is the best and safest option besides trading or holding.

Trading is not something simple or it would be easy money.  Day traders yes can gain huge profits but if your on the wrong side of it you lose lots of money.  It's much easier to say trading then actually doing it.

Long term holding is much easier, and should be less risky.  I prefer long term holding for general public over trying to trade large amounts.  I urge caution when trading.
1765  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining and the Halving on: March 07, 2016, 04:07:28 AM

I don't think it will peak.... if it does that is not good.  That would mean companies are not investing in R/D which would mean profits for big companies don't look great.  Which means us little guy's even worse.

I feel we will continue to see improvements in gear 14nm heck it's a game changer and were pretty close to seeing it I think... bw has one being sold right now but higher specs then fined tuned one they talked about on site.   So gear is only going to get better.

Hopeful think but I admire your optimism.  Bitcoin ASIC mining is a zero-sum game.  That means you need a heavy incentive for people to invest the amount of capital in R&D to keep pushing improvements.  At these levels we are talking high-mid in the millions minimum and that doesn't count for production once you have a good chip.  If you are going to make that investment, you are going to want guarantees of a ROI or at at least ROC (Return of Capital).   If what you say is true about it being bad for the little guys, how many generations of hardware releases do you think will stick in there?  At a point, you can't rely on those dollars.  That comes to my other predictions is that mining is going fully private for the most part with some retail going out the door but likely only to big players.  That is where the incentive is going.

Once we went ASIC, this was an inevitable path.  With GPUs and FPGAs, you at least had secondary uses for the hardware so you resell it once it was not profitable for you, with ASIC hardware, this is it and because people will sit by and wait for dips to turn it back on, the difficult is never fully allowed to correct for a meaningful enough time to let people make reasoned long-term investments.

Last point is the power usage is becoming to a point where it is really moving out of the home and commercial office into data-centers and industrial spaces setup for this application.  I hope the halving will give us some market discipline that will help future miners.

Thoughts?

It is not really that much optimism.  It just is if we do peak and there is not money for R/D..... that means bitcoin no longer has a very bright future.   Were talking serious drops in  price.   Lots of bad things.

I think bitcoin is long term.   If I didn't I would not waste so much time of this site.  I think asic is still the future just smaller nm and more perfected.
1766  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin has 1st downward difficulty adjustment since June '15, Hashrate Stabile on: March 06, 2016, 10:32:46 PM
I could be wrong but I speculate it as a fluke and one time deal.  I don't see getting lucky enough to get 2 negatives in a row.  I doubt that will happen but love to be wrong if we really get 2 negative.

I still yet have seen a good valid reason why it happened.  We know we had a negative.... but good question is why?
1767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: March 06, 2016, 08:20:57 PM
Almost all the bitcoin wallets are same and good enough for my use. We must concentrate with encryption and managing cold storage for the safety of our bitcoins regardless of wallet type.
Convenience is nothing but our experience, you will find any wallet more convenient over time.

Don't know if I would agree.  If you use a paper wallet right.... it is never convenient but is very secure.  I just don't see a cold paper wallet as being described as convenient.

I think hardware wallets are most convenient remaining secure.  They really are great I still use a few different ones.

there is nothing to click on that page?

If you can't click on anything to leave the page you will need to make a new sdcard .

try this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257327.0

a lot of owners are here on this page.

burned a new sd card didnt work

can you tell me what files do I need to burn
I tried this
openwrt-brcm2708-bcm2708-sdcard-vfat-ext4.img

I feel like I bought a brick  Sad

Look at part 3 of that post:

3) Install
Very simple install with the Raspberry PI I recieved from BlockC. It was set to DHCP so install was plug and play.  I did change it to static IP as I like static with having multiple miners on my network.  BlockC sending the Raspberry Pi with a default of DHCP saves you from the install process you did on the 4.1's if you did it yourself.  It saved roughly 15 minutes or so and turned install into a breeze.

For those who did not get the Raspberry Pi kit from BlockC here is a link to a DHCP Raspberry Pi image. All thanks goes to BlockC for the image.  Just use a program such as Win32DiskImager and flash it to your SD card.  Then insert SD card into Raspberry PI and you now have a DHCP Avalon 6 controller.  Download is below:

DHCP RPI Image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5yGu5iTU6MjRlozQjg3a0xRUEE/view?usp=sharing

Try the DHCP image that is BlockC's kit image and see if it does you some good.

Hello
I'm new in the mining world
just got my avalon6 miner today

I missed up in the network settings
now I'm unable to log in 192.168.1.2
all I get is a black screen with these words

luci - lua configuration interface

Ps. I'm a newbie I know nothing about mining just started into this problem today  Sad

Did you get a Pi with your miner?  You have to log into the Pi (with the Avalon software on it).

I have on first page BlockC's kit image.  It is dhcp so easy to connect to your network, and after you can set up a static IP.  As most like static IP's more.

But I would look at that image and try it.  It's a good one to get started with.
1770  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining and the Halving on: March 06, 2016, 08:05:05 PM
Well, smaller miner will exit the game, and hash power will concentrate on fewer miners.
On the bright side, the price per coin probably will rise, otherwise, even fewer miner will be.

I think it's hobby miner and home miner will have a hard time if it continues.  Both are not big enough to get gear discounts when buying.   But it will all come down to electricity.

Those small miners with included electricity/free.. will continue to make money.  So all depends on that electricity.

Well it all depends also with performance as well, not just free electricity.

But yeah thats a huge component where most of us cant avoid, so lets stop with this mining dream lol.

In the future, there will be little progress in the efficieny of the miners. So the miners will compete with cheap electricity.

There will always be work on more efficient chips as long as there money in the industry.  BTC is still the gold of crypto, so even after next gen hits there will be some perfecting next gen and working on even farther.  We will not cap out on best machine.

But electricity is always important it is today and still will be in future.

it will sooner rise than fall...
yepp, constant is the best!

One thing we have not been the past 2 periods is consistent.  One a very positive.... then a little negative.  It makes no sense, I cant find good speculation to why it's happening.

That bad thing is price has fallen some.   And that can be a slow ride up.... so it's a interesting time.
1772  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 cents per kw, Any way to mine? on: March 06, 2016, 02:38:07 PM
Right now it's hard to earn profit if you pay less then 10 cents.
Home mining is dead and the next step to centralization has already started.
It's just a matter of months before the game is over.

Home miner is getting harder and harder.  I consider myself a hobby miner slightly bigger then home with my mining area.   I had to get rid of last gen gear just as profit was to small, made far more selling them.

Will be intersting on what next gen gear costs, what difficulty does.  So many variables and not a lot of answers.
A cheap way to earn temporary profit is to setup a trickling solar panel to a battery, and running a low power useage asic until power is gone, stopping asic, trickling again, etc.
You'll be negative for a while due to initial investment, and if at all you ROI, last gen gear will take you over a year to roi. Raspberry pi controllers aren't feasible with solar due to them dying when power is lost, so that cuts a lot of usbs out (which basically kills profit except for a few mining, "standalones". A BFL is great since their easyminer can be used on android). As you can see my method is useless because of the complications, so I now really think 21 cent kw IS TRULY IMPOSSIBLE.

This will not work for most.  Phil is a great example of it working and he teamed up with a expert in solar.   For most of us solar will cost more then cheap electricity.  Cheap electricity makes more sense for most.

And I don't think I have ever heard anyone mention BFL and great in same sentence before.

Same here, first week only, waiting for the rest. I guess they do it in chronological order so we should be patient.

Same first week.  Stat's moved to a week away, and did not reset.  So looks like I'm 1/2 way there.

Dont i need to enter some code in the trezor?

Here is my hands on with one - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917.0  I love it, it's the most popular hardware wallet.

I'm not sure it's a anti-gambling item though.  You need to really do that on your own, a device will not stop you from gambling.
1775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for proper site to buy and then store bitcoin on: March 05, 2016, 10:15:44 PM
Both have downsides. Using a paper wallet, the paper could become waterlogged and become useless, or the hardware wallet could become watterlogged and become useless. Considering our normal lives, I would buy a hardware wallet and put one of those fancy little wifi trackers on that you can monitor on your phone if it ever gets lost or stolen.
Hardware wallets, at least some, can "hide" transactions, but eventually a transaction will be broadcast and be on a website.
Do not ever use an exchange to hold btc. You know the mt.gox scare, and an exchange could shutdown anytime and steal your btc.
I would suggest a hardware wallet with a tracker stuck on to monitor its position, but its up to you.

Yes but hardware wallets you have seed words..... so if it is broken or "waterlogged" you could always recover.  I suggest putting seed words in a safty deposit box.  If ever a problem with hardware wallet not working, or unusable you can use the seed words.

So still very secure and very usable on hardware wallets.  Only barrier is price for some.

Due to a sudden loss of funds, we need to cancel our datawarehouse project with 150 S4 servers running & cooled with water blocks.

We need to sell our S4 Antminers:

       - some 300 brand new ones still in original packages

       - some 160 used ones with cooling water blocks

       - some 2,000 water blocks.(attached pics).

Location for shipment is Bahrain.

Pls help who can buy these from us ?

The hardware forum is more for sales then support thread.  Can you show some pics of S4 cooled with water blocks? I'm curious to see what it looks like.

Also you might re-word it above as I highly doubt the S4's are truly new.... maybe new to you.  But for these S4's to have not been used and sit somewhere since being made such a long period is hard to believe.
Waterblocks? That's pretty overkill unless someone wanted a quiet warehouse with overclocked s4s. He could have saved the s4s for some later time, but yeah.. Thats pretty unbelievable. I want to see a picture as well, because it just sounds so cool! Cheesy

I can't find the auction but someone posted it in another thread.  They had a  VERY custom data center with larget amount of water cooling on a lot of gear.  If I find post later I will post.

But they are interesting looking.   It is someone no doubt seeing profits decreasing on older gen gear.

And if you had paid with a credit card instead of gift cards you'd have another layer of protection.

Card issuers usually won't offer protection on Paypal payments citing Paypal as a payment processor, so their transaction is just with Paypal and the customer's dispute is between PayPal and the seller.

The Us is a lot different if you can prove it and went thu all the steps they will do charge backs PayPal or not, in some cases refund the money back right a way with a good  warning the normal stuff .

my bank did it once on my debt card i had to go to PayPal first and follow a lot of steps but it was given back and they did a charge back .

I think the key is you went through PayPal.  PayPal is highly sided with buyers is the good thing in scams.  Bad for legit sellers, but good for fighting scammers.

But work with PayPal a lot will depend on how long it's been since payment.  Before 90 day's I believe if nothing shipped getting a charge back is pretty easy (or should be).
1778  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth to continue this mining operation ? [Video included] [Europeans] on: March 05, 2016, 08:55:40 PM
5 cents per KW is very good actually. Too bad since i just left the mining business else I would consider your offer.

The suggestion of philipma1957 is wise. If you want to fill up the space you need to show a sign of good faith, else nobody would go for it. There's a lot of scamming going on in this business

One of the big things is with most of EU there is a decent vat.  So you ship gear.... you are going to pay more then a lot of other places that done have VAT's.

I think VAT kills a lot of EU deals.  Which is sad I do wish that wasn't true as I'm for mining to be easy for all.

I am going to be very surprised if we don't get a positive here.   I can't see a pattern in past 3... just does not make sense:
Mar 04 2016    158,427,203,767    -3.10%    1,134,066,098 GH/s
Feb 19 2016    163,491,654,909    13.44%    1,170,318,852 GH/s
Feb 07 2016    144,116,447,847    20.06%    1,031,625,717 GH/s

Huge jumps... price is down.  Will be another interesting week.
