1761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL Mutual Pool Discussion. on: March 27, 2020, 07:18:59 AM

Million dollar event and being insured is just common sense.

Check this: https://www.livemint.com/sports/cricket-news/cricket-in-times-of-coronavirus-lot-at-stake-as-ipl-targets-smooth-start-11583411197345.html

There are multiple practical reasons why the T20 extravaganza will be held as per schedule

It was too early LOL
Wow. That article is dated March 5th. Hope those paid journalists have either revised their views. I think it is hugely irresponsible to assume that holding IPL would have no consequence. The article also took hope from the fact that Tokyo 2020 is going to be held as scheduled, which is now postponed.

I hated that last quote. "We will see if people come or not due to corona scare. If tickets are bought then stadiums will be packed". Could these people be anymore irresponsible? Why are they even talking about money when it is about lives? Just what we need to do is to maybe pass time with some online slots or follow esports of some sort for now.. Roll Eyes
1762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 27, 2020, 04:22:10 AM
Or let's just hope that everything goes back to normal as soon as possible. We really do not want to keep going like this for the next one or two months or even three+ months. No one really knows which direction we are going in this pandemic situation.
That's too much boring mates. I have nothing to do other than eating, sleeping or watching some movies. No matches to watch, gamble. This has been a very boring days. I can not take it more.
I think we need more 2/3 months to get back as usual. No more matches for next 2/3 months  Undecided
Guys it has been like just 5 days of lockdown at my place. I don't know where you guys live but we cannot wish this away. The period of infection is 14 days. Right now, what we actually need to do is to make your family, colony and locality pass atleast 14 days indoors. If nobody shows any symptoms then you can assume that your own little island is virus-free. We can go on from there ensuring maximum precaution till a vaccine is discovered. The way this spreads, i don't see how anything can get back to normal till every known case has been identified and quarantined.

Stay safe everyone. Let them push IPL to whenever they want. Those highly paid cricketers and commentators will get the ventilators they need. The normal junta only has its own immunity to rely on. Those of us interested in gaming, maybe we should get some kind of cricket e-sports league going in the meanwhile.
1763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to see another PANIC on: March 25, 2020, 05:47:24 AM
I suppose the panic is over isn't it?
I mean there are levels of panic and that is true but honestly do you really think that it could get any worse?

I was assuming that the world caught up on the dangers of corona and everyone is reacting accordingly, sure there are still idiots out there all the time that doesn't do anything about corona and they are walking like nothing will happen to them and then they will end up dying anyway so that is basically Darwinism at its best.

Long story short I do not believe it will go on like this for years, obviously it should be ending in couple of months, maybe not go away 100% because none of them ever does, but in the end we will see it become something natural and easy to get better about, look at influenza, it killed millions but now its common flu.

YES; it can and will be worse

quarantine and total lock down of more countries, markets closeds, industries stopped, scarcity and food and other basic goods, .. was BTC a safe haven 1 week ago when markets dumped? NO.. will it be later, of course not.. people will need cash to purchase, no one will care about crypto and therefore it will plunge. Meanwhile, these guys with tons of BTC will try to convince you that btc is digital gold.. don't believe my word, just wait to see what happens next

There are a lot of assumptions in these statements. You are ignoring the ability of people to rally once they realize a common danger. Sure there are fools initially who will flout the norms coz the concept of YOLO and  "Mah Life, Ma Rulz" have gone into their heads too deep. These people will be taken care of soon enough. In India, well its already happening..
Police dealing with people stepping out during lockdown

So people need to clear their headspace and realize this is not about their fucking "rights".

Next up, you guys say that "people will run for cash" as if this is world war and everything will be gone. Calm down. The logistics and supply chains for necessary goods can still function. Sure, people would like to have cash at hand but this is no apocalypse and people will not cash out every investment just because they need to buy flour or medication the next day. As long as people stay home, this is not going to be a run on the banks. Also, if people are willing to dump BTC and sell off then a lot of us would be willing to lap them up at any rate.
1764  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Utilizing Work from Home! on: March 25, 2020, 05:35:50 AM
I am a home worker, but I do offline business, now in total loss due to the lock down. I don't get anything online as i am not a perfect money maker. The lock down should be made to those who brought corona from other Countries. How about the daily earners those who do laborer works?
It is understandable that a lot of businesses will be in loss due to the lockdown. People will be forced to dig into their savings to stay afloat. It is pretty much confirmed that the Governments would not be taking nay proactive measures regarding this.

There was this scheme from the govt about giving certain amount to daily wage earners. The problem is that how do you track and implement such a thing. As far as self-employed people are concerned, i think they are on their own and on their savings. Let us all hope that these 21 days will help us get rid of community spread to a large extent. Even after that, we shall need to be careful as a single case can explode again till we have a vaccine. It is going to be a difficult coming months for those dependent on daily wages or even Mom-Pop styled businesses.

What am I doing in the lockdown? Trying to wake up on time. Failed for the second day straight.

Finally finishing the long pending coursera courses. Some progress there.

Playing DoTA-2. Think i'll buy the subscription and play ranked.

Trying to settle some personal issues as it seems like crisis time make people realize the value of men...lol..

Nice to see this post here and thanks for sharing this to us. Various gas grills were available in the market. Get the details about the best gas grills playing the most competitive role in the current market.
LOL. We are talking about LN and a newbie account pops up peddling "gas grills". I am not going to check the website to see what they are talking about. Could this be a bot gone wrong?

--snip--
eventually to really encourage people it's got to be almost free at some point, the real benefit will be more and more adoption. Still, imagine running a huge LN channel that's connected to everyone! And hooking it up to a lot of users!
Almost free and effortless to use is what we need. This is the top node in LN at present. The fee statistic show a "base fee" and a "fee rate". Can anybody tell what does this mean. Also, this seems a stupid question but are the transactions on LN between participants publicly visible like the mainnet transactions?
1767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Credibility in shock on: March 24, 2020, 11:59:54 AM
The spectre of Bitcoin whales manipulating prices always seems to be a valid justification when you always end up buying high and selling low while trading. This is what concerns a lot of newbies who come into BTC thinking that trading will help them earn some side income, which it possibly can. Trading is inherently risky and these whales you are mentioning, even they are trading against each other.

Binance is one of the biggest exchanges and most of its earnings must be from the maker/ taker fees etc. from all sort of traders ranging from very small to the whales. A hack into THEIR EXCHANGE is their responsibility, not bitcoin's. Maybe they need to work better on internal security. There is no need to complicate the issue by linking bitcoin's credibility with what CZ, Binance, hackers or traders do. Bitcoin isn't just about trading anyway.
1768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DOTA 2] ESL One Los Angeles 2020 MAJOR [GAMBLING DISCUSSION] on: March 24, 2020, 04:36:27 AM
So this was also cancelled due to the pandemic. God knows what else is going to go down in the coming days. The news coming out gets more depressing every day. We are also under a lockdown in our country. Anyone looking for a pro game can still follow the We Save charity tournament. There will be a Nigma vs Liquid matchup and NaVi vs Hellraisers do decide for the final.

The prized pool is 120K and they are collecting donations during the tournament which will be donated for the development of vaccine to CEPI.
1769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should bitcoin not perform now? on: March 23, 2020, 04:58:19 PM
You cannot say that bitcoin is not performing. Its a much better recognized investment. The development still continues but one of the main reasons is also that there has been a dearth of use-cases. Micropayments on Lightning network and development of services and application using LN as a payment system should have been going on full swing.
LN still has some way to go before it starts being used widely and actively to buy coffee or for payments. The other developments like Schnorr Signatures, Taproot etc are more bent towards industrial use-cases. There is still work that remains to be done. It does look like this pandemic will change perspectives a lot. The next wave of fiat influx will also result in another rethinking among the general public regarding the comparison between Fiat and BTC.
1770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to earn Bitcoin on the Lightning Network on: March 23, 2020, 03:48:27 PM
Is a nice article, thanks or share it.

From what i understand the best way to earn money with LN is to open a payment channel. Each time someone uses your channel you get a small fee commission, like if you were the miners. And when you close the channel you get all that small fees.
Opening a a channel is the basic requirement for your own payments too. I don't think it will lead to any earning as such. To earn, you will need to open multiple channels so that you have high chances of being used in the hops of a payment between participants who are not directly connected to each other.

Yet, the fact that it LN will make fast micropayments possible can help you earn money if you start off with ideas like Lighntingbattle website in the project development section. You can wager and play simple games against other players with small amounts. Its a neat idea. Do check it out..
1771  Economy / Economics / Re: Sans monetary stimulus and injections, how do you respond to an economic crisis? on: March 23, 2020, 03:41:25 PM
We should have been prepared for a thing like this in the first place. If government spends more on healthcare and less on wars , the death rates will be far less . . .
They won't have to ignore sick people like they have been doing in many countries...

People should also be ready for a situation like this in the future and change their lifestyle.
It is pretty much impossible to prepare for a situation where such a virus mutates in the wild completely unknown and makes human to human transmission possible within months rather than the usual 2-3 years that it takes. That is why it is most likely engineered.

Healthcare in Italy is probably amongst the best in world, yet the struggle is completely due to the novelty and fast spread of the virus. The only way the death rates will come down is if people take responsibility and stop running off and dancing in the streets when told to hole up.
1772  Economy / Economics / Re: Sans monetary stimulus and injections, how do you respond to an economic crisis? on: March 21, 2020, 04:28:46 PM
Who else thinks that this is a very well thought out Chinese move to finally shift the center of global power decisively in its favor. Post the industrial revolution, every geo-straegic shake up has been the result of a global war. War by their very nature do not need such measures because ultimately they are a boon to the economy. More production, a highly committed workforce, easy market (Ammunition, fuel, clothes, rations, weapons, transport).

In a linked economy like today's, a real war can be very damaging. China cannot afford an open war. So they come up with this inexplicably virulent, hitherto unknown virus. Manage a controlled outbreak for it to seem authentic. Deploy everything from hospitals to sanitary workers in full-hazmat suits in a swift response that could have only been the result of meticulous pre-planning.

They then export it to the world and boom..everything goes into lockdown. That is when very conveniently, the "World's factory" comes back to normal. In response, West does what it does best after years of servitude to growth and financial engineering. It is going to "print" more money, devaluing their currencies in the process while spending that money to buy Chinese medical supplies in huge numbers, having long relegated the role of manufacturing to China. I don't think the world governments have a plan Z or a even a plan B. Its only the dragon that has all the plans.

The actions of the Chinese always remind me of Talia-Al-Ghul in Dark Knight rises:
Quote
You see, it's the slow knife, the knife that takes it's time, the knife that waits years without forgetting, then slips quietly between the bones. That's the knife, that cuts deepest.

The chinese knife has been waiting for over a century now since the humiliation of the opium wars and the "Cutting of the Chinese melon". You guys really think the people who invented gunpowder, rocketry, paper and gave the British the idea of a Civil Services were actually going to let it go?
1773  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Covid19.insure - your opinions? on: March 21, 2020, 03:58:29 PM
There are just 3 links on the website. Something that explains how it works. If you go to donate then it asks you to visit their social media links and of course "Join".

There is no verified smart contract to show how the funds are locked or how they will be disbursed. I would say it is a shameless scam at worst or an attempt to make a database of documents from people at best. The website as of yet is only asking for "interest". Why would someone come up with such a foolish idea. Claim settlement on blockchain could actually be quite possible but the infrastructure and trustlessness needed to maintain the privacy would require more than starting an asinine website at the time of a universal calamity.

Frankly, i wish people stopped coming up with these ideas trying to rob people with sob stories. These stupid stories about how 1 dollar is a lot for them, give them hope, oh the poor. In the words of the great George Carlin, "Fuck the poor". This is pretty much bullshit.
1774  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: LightningBattle.com Play Games of Skill for Bitcoin (Lightning enabled) on: March 20, 2020, 06:16:07 AM
Really cool..I made an account but unfortunately its not allowed in my location. On what basis are you selecting the locations though?  I am pretty sure its allowed in my country. The website and the idea looks great but i cannot help but wonder what is the compulsion for the geolocation restriction?  Goes against the very spirit here. Any plans to change it or are there legal compulsions.

I reached the screen that said "NEW GAME" on an ominous Red button (Could you make that button's color something more fun?) and then i get the geolocation message. I did fill up the signup form and grabbed the coolest username. Hope that will survive and has registered. Will try a VPN when i get the chance.

Nice username don't worry i won't reveal anything about you Wink

We've done some legal research and we were just being cautious. Initially we found some regions in your country where it is not allowed and did a blanket ban but now have it allowed it in those other regions Smiley. Gave you a starting balance of 1000 sats, let's play!
Awesome. I can now access. I have made a friend of my join and challenged them to a game. They don't have a balance so I have installed the walletofsatoshi. To fund it, i need to make an on-chain payment first but i only have it available on my phone app at present. Its charging stupid fees for withdrawal and i only want to do it with the minimum payment cost. (That is the whole point right)

So i'll make a payment from wallet once i get home. Will be wagering on the game soon...Smiley

The account i got added. its name starts from 'p'. Don't yet add anything in there. Let me try it first. Once we play a wager, It'll be awesome if you refill them too. I have got my refill..Thanks for the Sats..Smiley
I'll share my experience. Love the idea.
I see cuck online and have challenged him. Waiting for him to accept..

EDIT:
Jeff, the selector button for showing ALL/ONLINE works like a toggle switch rather than the selection based on where you click. Just a small thing i noticed.

1778  Other / Archival / Re: ♻️ [banned mixer] — FAST, SECURE and RELIABLE BITCOIN MIXER (Since 2016) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ on: March 19, 2020, 04:25:30 AM
I find it hard to believe someone will send 120 coins at once. Even the most trustworthy person will be tempted to take the money. And why he will send 30% and not keep all the money? Super sketchy.

I am new in the forum and without titles but if the user sends me the letter of guarantee I will confirm if this is true or not.
--snip--
Also, the most trustworthy will be tempted? ChipMixer has literally received hundreds of BTC at once (and a total of at least 4800+ BTC from a single person) and didn't scam anyone. But this is not the point here. And it's also not an excuse to scam. Stop.
Mixers as a service are important. Due to their very nature they need to be anonymous yet trusted. Most services in crypto tend to have this feature and it takes time to gain legitimacy with very real chances of the whole thing turning into a long con.

CM has processed some of the largest mixer transactions and have kept their end of the bargain impeccably. What exactly prevents a new service from turning into a long con is again an economic question like miner honesty. Once they are into the system, its in their own self interest to keep going. I don't think CM's audited financial statement would be available..lol..but the fact that they have purportedly mixed over 4800 BTC from a single source and regularly receive hundreds of BTC monthly,  should be enough to trust. Its like the fable of the goose and the golden eggs.

 Shocked
Yuck..!!

Once cooked over an open flame or in boiling water for 30 minutes, pretty sure everything is fit to eat. Still there is the problem of storage..
1780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does Bitcoin Have Value? on: March 18, 2020, 05:38:52 AM
Majority of Bitcoin's value comes from speculation rather than fundamentals (scarcity and utility), we can see it by how much the price moves without any change in fundamentals at all.
Bitcoin fundamentals are not just scarcity and utility but the evolved technology, community and the network, as well a the established methods of this evolution. It is nearly impossible to duplicate this evolution of miner infrastructure, community support AND decentralized decision-making. The fact that bitcoin is here is here to stay.

The next fundamental that all the "business" people cry about is "utility on blockchain". This is where success of LN becomes all the more important. If the LN infrastructure gets going, it'll mean that the tech has matured to a level where a layer-2 utility can use the security of base layer. The use there-on is limited only by the acceptance of bitcoin's advantages by the people and developers. Instead of hating on each other, people can just accept bitcoin as it is and work with it instead of against it.
