17741  Economy / Gambling / Re: Most trusted/transparent/reputable site for bitcoin poker? on: June 22, 2017, 03:05:54 PM
Hey, bit-exo's got a good poker option with freerolls. Yes, it hasn't a ton of players like other sites do, but yes, you can almost identify all of them as they're regulars at the main dice site itself. Just thought to add that option here.
17742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy or Wait for the biggest dump of Ethereum on: June 22, 2017, 02:59:32 PM
I agree to buy some ETH now and buy more if the price drop. My personal view is that the dump should not exceed 30%.

Thinking similarly. Dumps are normal and it won't exceed 25% for ethereum from my perspective. And why is everyone sad? Ethereum came here from $100 and dump from $400 to $290 should not make you upset.

I'm also wondering what's making the ETH lovers down... I have posts from months ago of people worried they overbought when ETH was at $20. Get your profits now and be happy, people!
17743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ViaBTC's UAHF ICO Proposal on: June 22, 2017, 12:06:51 PM
It was something I'd been wondering: if everyone goes for Segwit2x, as I understand, this simply means Segwit first, hard fork later. But how is this hard fork guaranteed? Just by developers keeping to their word?

I'm not a supporter, but I suppose it was only a matter of time before a similar move would come to guarantee Segwit2x runs its full course.
17744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On Bitcoin, India's Government And Tech Companies Find Common Ground on: June 22, 2017, 11:01:19 AM
I suppose it's about time for a softened tone from the Indian authorities. They might have known that whatever their stance, it won't change how they've actually contributed to the spread of adoption in India. No such thing as bad publicity, they say.
17745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High school dropout who invested in bitcoin is now a millionaire at 18 on: June 22, 2017, 10:00:19 AM
~snip

Why didn't he take the $100K and bought more bitcoins instead?  Granted that there has to be some tax consideration, but tax rate has to be as high as 40% in order for both of the cash option and the bitcoins option to breakeven.  If the tax rate was at 40%, then he could get $60K after tax and would be able to buy 300 bitcoins at the market price ($200 at the time).  Moreover, one day when he sells the bitcoins, he can dedect $200 on each of the bitcoins from the capital gain as cost.

Am I missing something in here?  Don't drop out from high school?   Cheesy

I was just thinking the same thing, that it was a bit of a risky move. He could have taken the cash IN HAND, buy 300 bitcoins himself and still had some cash leftover (minus tax, as you say). In Jan 2015, he could even have bought some mining hardware and made that 300 bitcoins very quickly.

Multiple ways he could have accessed had he taken the cash. Definitely don't drop out of first year high school!
17746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 22, 2017, 08:33:07 AM
Thank you for those who participated, and those who tailed. Like mentioned in the first post the contest was set to close on 20th. Since we only had one participant actually betting on the site, he automatically wins the Betops. We have contacted Betopen and will have the prize your way. Definitely keep out for the next challenge we put up.

Thank you Joca and ajax, I definitely had a LOT of fun following your tips, so you can be sure I'll keep an eye peeled for more challenges. I'll be sure to be a lot more careful with my next bankroll (had I followed in only these 2 weeks same amount of wagers, would have been in profit).

17747  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalBitcoins fee's on: June 21, 2017, 04:27:12 PM
Here there is a slight inconsistency about the deposit transaction fee,
some say it is disconnected from the deposit amount and some are not, but the fact that the transaction cost deductions really happen at the end of this period.
Perhaps it is because of their shortcomings of Ability to bear the cost they can forward

I think now that I've tested it myself, it seems to be a FLAT fee that will adjust according to the current network state. I've tried 0.01 to 1 values and all show the same deposit fee of 5x,xxx satoshi.

I can understand that a site like lbc, like most sites, automatically transfer deposits out into a main wallet. Almost every site I deposit into immediately sweeps up my balance into another address, while my deposit shows in my account. That does add to cost as each tx of course spends fees.

But that's on THEM, not on users. I don't know any service currently that charges a fee on deposit. Hope they know what they're doing.
17748  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex or Bittrex on: June 21, 2017, 02:27:11 PM
I prefer myself Bittrex over Poloniex. There is not any particular reason, it's just that the Poloniex UI hurt my eyes.It is confusing that you don't know where to put your eyes. Bittrex is also the first exchange I used and I am happy with it. I don't like to change specially when all is working good. So i stick with Bitrrex personnaly

Came here from a thread linked to from another, and found it funny that this was the first thing that struck me about Polo the first time too... the default UI hurts my old eyes. You know you can switch to Night Mode, though, right? (Top right corner)
17749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help Brute force big reward on: June 21, 2017, 01:29:13 PM
You know you don't have to pay to find addresses with similar balances, right? So many ways addresses like those are made public. And the beauty of it is, private keys are virtually safe from cracking, so no one who has them is worried. You've basically gotten yourself scammed.
17750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is declining as top crypto currency. Why? on: June 21, 2017, 10:04:34 AM
No, he is talking about bitcoin declining as #1 in the cryptocurrency chart that includes all altcoins as well as bitcoin, so Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.

The reason is basically a lot of hype over altcoins, for example Ethereum and Antshares(dubbed the Chinese ethereum i think for some reason although the ICO actually didn't go all that successfully. Other coins like Lisk have tripled in price, digibyte has also absolutely exploded in price but now is adjusting and price is in freefall at the moment.

It's not bitcoin becoming less popular at all. It's still the first cryptocurrency, no matter what. And this will have a huge impact on people that are trying to get into crypto. They'll alway look at bitcoin before they look at anything else. When this altcoin hype and ICO hype in general dies off, bitcoin dominance will probably go back up to at least 60%.

Then he needs to phrase his question properly. As it stands, none of the crypto in the top 5 according to the "cryptocurrency chart" are in decline. Developments are underway for all, adoption is growing, trade volume and tx #s are up across the board. We're watching almost all proper cryptos do anything but decline.
17751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase hacked!! Eth DOWN, on: June 21, 2017, 08:20:34 AM
ETH outages was common enough last year (relatively) and we shouldn't be surprised to see more of it especially with all these tokenised ICOs going on on its blockchain.

Doubt it's got anything to do with hacks. Seen 2 sites already warning of slow/broken ETH deposits.
17752  Economy / Gambling / Re: JUST IN!! Primedice New CEO. on: June 21, 2017, 07:42:37 AM
I obviously need to read more into some of these sites, as I barely recognise the name Stunna and have never heard of MICRO. It would be extremely interesting to know the reasons behind these decisions. I'd imagine once a site gets as successful as PD, managing and owning it becomes less nitty and gritty. Earning becomes simpler (not to be confused with easier).
17753  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your bitcoins. on: June 21, 2017, 07:12:47 AM
The same price rally we have seen in Bitcoin has been spread among many of the altcoins as well. What's to distinguish between a bubble in one and a "legitimate" price increase in another? Obviously, bubble connotes unwarranted gain prone to bursting and losing value. What makes Bitcoin's recent rise a non-bubble but other coins that have experienced the same rise a bubble? Seems a bit arbitrary to me.

You're right: arbitrary to discuss the why's and how's if only to support arguments of bubble not bubble. At the end of the day, the market is far too young. Bitcoin is far too young. As much as we'd like to think it's mature enough to respond to genuine conditions, so much of its movement is still down to random and unpredictable events we cannot understand.
17754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 21, 2017, 06:32:13 AM
Even though you lost your bet you're about to win the raffle so congrats for that.  Wink Also  how much is 1000 Betops if you exchange it to bitcoin/usd?

Thank you=) I was actually surprised there weren't more people participating. given the success of ajax and joca. Anyway, here's an update of all the bets done with these two tipsters! I missed out on 2 bets (both were wins), so the overall score here was 9W 4L (and 1 cancelled bet).

Had I bet the same amount on all my 11 valid bets, I would have been up by 44%. Being an idiot, I am in overall loss thanks to a losing wager ten times the size I planned.

17755  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and Bankers on: June 20, 2017, 09:09:26 PM
While it's tempting to see bankers and banking/finance industry as complete idiots, they're anything but. Those right at the top, the ones in power, they're the ones able to pull strings and stay out of the limelight at the same time. If they can benefit from Bitcoin, they will. If they can't, they'll do what they can to stop it.

And it won't be in ways we can imagine.
17756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You Holding On To Your Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2017, 04:11:44 PM
Honestly, I don't think many people can truly be in a position to hold or not hold unless they have at least 1BTC. Cumulatively, I've reached that amount, but with outgoing spends as well as some tricky balances in 3 sites I have no control over (aka no protection from being Goxxed), I only own 0.1 BTC more or less. Of course hodl!
17757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SAUDI Bitcoin Trading on LocalBitcoins TO THE MOON on: June 20, 2017, 03:11:14 PM

Me too but I think this time it is a bit different. The Saudi's are diversifying for years now and are not just reliant on Oil anymore. Just look at

what they did with tourism in some of these bigger cities. Oil is still the driving factor behind most of the money being pumped into their

economy, but they realized early that they cannot rely on that as the sole driving factor in their economy. We can expect much more from them,

once regulations has been finalized regarding Crypto Currencies.  Grin They would benefit a lot, when they send large amounts of money... fees will

be much lower for these transactions.  Wink

Say what you will about rich oligarchs but yes, the Saudis were one of the earliest to diversify and have been quite smart about doing that too. Gtom attempting to build the largest humanitarian hubs to their quick latching on to so-called disruptive tech (Uber, blockchain), they've got a lot of Sovereign Wealth Funds diversified.
17758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Superstition on: June 20, 2017, 02:20:27 PM
I wouldn't exactly call it gambling but I do get consciously superstitious when it comes to football (whether I'm playing or watching). For example, I will never say out loud how I hope the game will turn out and won't praise good plays until the game is over. Sort of a personal jinx which I believe has a psychological effect - at least when I play.

Betting online I probably don't reflect the same mentality but in a casino (very few experiences anyway) I get up quickly if someone suddenly joins my table at BJ and bets recklessly.
17759  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can anybody guide me to free satoshi? on: June 20, 2017, 12:57:50 PM

It might look like a waste of time now, but as you said... When the Moon comes EVERY Satoshi will be valuable. I checked my logs for 2014 and

the Satoshi I got from faucets back then are worth about $10 now. {That was per week} Imagine what will happen when 1 Bitcoin are valued at

$50 000 or even $100 000 per bitcoin?  Grin {Gavin's faucet paid out 1 to 5 bitcoins per hour}  Grin

Exactly! I wasn't so lucky to be around to take free coins from Gavin, nor even around when Bitcoin was at $300 but when I "arrived", I could easily find faucets giving out >1,000 satoshis a hit and Collect 0.001 ETH or several hundred doges a day. Less than a year later, these amounts are worth something significant. Who knows next year? And the year after?

So... not very fair to dismiss faucets. Yes, they may be pointless to do all day every day but they're a good introduction.
17760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game? on: June 20, 2017, 12:53:13 PM
I actually feel the exact same thing when watching a football game.

It's a final. You've built everything up to this moment. It's 90 minutes on the clock and your team is trailing by one goal, or defending a slim margin, or fighting to break the deadlock. You want to leave to avoid the heartbreak but your loyalty forces you to stay on to the bitter end. You want to quickly rush out of the stadium with your dignity somehow preserved from humiliation yet you want to stay on bravely and face the taunts from the opposing suppporters.

And then... you spy live-betting irresistible odds being offered for your team to score in injury time.
