17841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 08, 2017, 08:48:54 PM
I did manage to find it a while later as you suggested, I was right to suspect the damned Austrians wouldn't get their guns firing properly, so posted a small loss.

Looking forward to the next tip(s)!

17842  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 08, 2017, 05:52:12 AM
Well done both on the last 2 tips, glad I managed to find this. One thing I did note, the odds were fractionally lower (by 0.01 to 0.05) than a few others, but I don't mind really.

The link for the next tip doesn't work? Also couldn't find the match on betopen. Most of the U21 matches are there except Austria vs Gibraltar.
17843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 7 years ago... you could have earned almost $15,000 at today's value in 3 sec... on: June 07, 2017, 05:10:45 PM
Good point about not dismissing all faucets as a waste of time! I still stick to a very select few (okay, actually only two now) that only require a minute or so all together and I just mindlessly click every few days. Yes, they give out less and less but collectively, and with their values slowly gaining over time, they're worth a bit more than spare change these days.
17844  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: June 07, 2017, 03:21:23 PM
Wish you guys would have come up perhaps 5 months earlier when I last needed such a service! Great concept wrapped up in simplicity. I do wonder about fees as you'd need pre-splitting up into chips but it seems you've managed that well enough.
17845  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ARBITRAGE: Bitstamp -> CEX.IO - Proof of Concept on: June 07, 2017, 02:52:27 PM
I'd given this some thought as well a month earlier when prices weren't so high yet the spreads were more or less the same, so the fee percentages didn't matter as much as they do now. I did see some theoretical +ve gains but it would require volume and a full-time dedication... unfortunately not something that is at my disposal right now. Good luck if you do try!
17846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is bitcoin not multi level marketing? on: June 07, 2017, 01:07:37 PM
Since this is a rant, I won't point out the dozens of ways Bitcoin is anything but MLM.

You know, you'll always get disappointed in the end if you have expectations from trying to help someone. But with friends and family, better to stay away from offering investment advice. Money is just something that'll always create issues somewhere down the line.

I've had mixed experiences talking to friends about Bitcoin, and other digital ideas previous to that. Now I just offer opinions when asked earnestly.
17847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Creators of Bitcoin Miners Face $12 Million Fine for 'Ponzi Scheme' Scam on: June 07, 2017, 12:07:59 PM
It's annoying that some of the earliest adopters of Bitcoin were ponzi schemers. Some are managed by the same people over the years, moving from one digital currency to another. Bitcoin was a godsend for them I suppose. What surprises me is that they haven't moved to other crypto. You'd think the cheaper tx fees and quick confirmations would help extend ponzi lifespans, especially with those that pay every hour even. Go figure.
17848  Economy / Gambling / Re: Another Bitcoin Dice Game on: June 07, 2017, 09:51:50 AM
It's not immediately the most delightful eye candy when it comes to dice sites; again if you're going to rely on aesthetics alone you're in for a tough start. Chat and building a community that builds on loyalty (a leveling system of sorts) is the way to go, I think. The only noteworthy aspect is the even split between investor and house but you'll want to allow some customisation there for those interested in long-term investments at that share.
17849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 07, 2017, 09:05:33 AM
All right my friends, I have decided to back these two standup tipsters and the new site (what the hell, right?).

0.006 BTC (~$15) each on the two tips at BetOpen (username buwaytress).

1. Over 1.5 Goals @ Odds 1.38: Ticket ID #1437
2. Verdasco and Zimonjic to win @ Odds 1.28: Ticket ID #1438

I'll keep everyone posted=)

17850  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✪ BTC Battle ✪ online + affiliate program + faucet on: June 07, 2017, 08:47:44 AM
Can't say I've seen a similar game, despite what others have mentioned in here. It's a pretty interesting concept and I can foresee it turning around a lot of money/games once it gets going but it's probably going to get a lot of convincing to start the ball rolling.

Perhaps a separate game with initial focus on getting people to come in and play first. Get them all chatting too. Then show them this game.

A wallet showing balance would be a great start too.
17851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 07, 2017, 08:10:58 AM

So i withdrew my bytes to my Byteball wallet but when I put the address in the link it says:

"Warning! This address is NOT linked! You will receive 199,600,000 bytes and NO Blackbytes"

Is that in reference to my bitcoin? I'm still receiving the bytes for my Gbyte holding right?  Are no Blackbytes being given this round?

It's in reference to your Byteball address which you originally linked and received bytes to in the previous distribution round. To get blackbytes, your bytes must be on the address that was originally linked in the distribution. Simply move your bytes back into that address, I believe.
17852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Calling It A Bubble. on: June 06, 2017, 04:37:35 PM
To me, the ascending price is just an upwards correction, aka the price catching up to what the value of bitcoin would be had there not been any negative events/news/roadblocks. More and more people (general public, businesses, inestors, speculators, institutions, developers, entrepeneurs, etc) are recognizing Bitcoin's many potentials as well as it's resiliency and have decided to jump on the train.

So yeah, until there is an actual "POP" i.e. the price crashes spectacularly to at least the low hundreds or lower and fails to recover, not a "bubble."

Basically, you're saying it's not a bomb unless it explodes =D. Friendly jibe, don't worry!

The bubble or non-bubble argument isn't important I guess. I think for the lack of solid reasons on this ATH pounding bull that it's a bubble (that may not necessarily burst). Point is, no one can say for sure where this is headed next!

17854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & Ajaxmoor's Big Challenge thread with a giveaway on: June 06, 2017, 09:03:53 AM
Uhmm guys do you realize the links you are posting expire after the games have ended so no-one has the slightest idea what tips you have posted in this thread. Do you bet anything on these tips? Where are the actual betslips?

I can't speak about the 1st tip, but I managed to look at the 2nd one which was posted about an hour before the game. Tip worked out, by the way, match ended 0-1, so the Under 2.5 call was good. I'll keep tracking as long as I'm able to monitor.

It would be nice to get the tip a few hours ahead of time, but good tips tend to be close to the match. Maybe some details about the match also, so yeah, people can track retrospectively.
17855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Million Dollar Bitcoin (article, not speculation) on: June 06, 2017, 07:15:24 AM
Like all good writing, there's a healthy dose of pragmatism in this article, even if it requires a tongue firmly planted in cheek at times.

But while the already apparent capacity for maintaining positive daily growth is something that Bitcoin has (and the likelihood of which appears to grow with each ATH), the sustainability is something that logic demands evidence of. It cannot ever be provided, I feel, and there isn't really any precedent.

Still a lot of assumptions, if not outright speculation. Even if the price estimates prove accurate, will BTC be the most important payment method?

Still, an interesting if almost overt stab at LN=)
17856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 06, 2017, 06:19:09 AM
Hello,

I had two questions:

- I have downloaded the android wallet, do i need to do anything further to be part of the distribution?
- I have some BTC which i want to use to collect byteball. How do i do that?

Cheers!

You really need to read OPs before diving in. However, since it's 3 days to the next distribution, here's a quick fix for now. Please read byteball.org when you get the time!

1. You need to link the BTC address where your balance is at to your byteball.
2. Open the wallet you installed, and chat with the transition bot: byteball:A2WMb6JEIrMhxVk+I0gIIW1vmM3ToKoLkNF8TqUV5UvX@byteball.org/bb#0000

Follow instructions. Basically, you either spend a small amount OR you send a signed msg (I did this) from the BTC address you want linked.
17857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About RDD coin. on: June 06, 2017, 06:07:48 AM
obviously it is a pump like all the rest of the altcoins that have been pumped.
this past 10 days have been the days of ultra cheap altcoins to get pumped. i am seeing altcoins getting pumped that have been completely dead. coins such as MoonCoin and HTML5 both of which were below 1 satoshi and now they are worth 5 satoshi and rising.

as i have said before pumping a cheap coin like these to 500% is a lot easier to pump a big altcoin from 0.01 to 0.5BTC for example.

so no it is not going to last, try to enjoy the ride and make sure to sell on top and don't wait for them to dump on you!
So what should i do? Sell or hold? please tell me anyone

You have to read what people are telling you. The message is pretty clear: no one can tell you what to do and you shouldn't act based on someone else's opinion (including mine, strangely enough!).

The point being made here is that these alts are all pumped, with no real way to tell why or how their value has suddenly increased manyfold, except for the strong suspicion (founded in various threads you'll find on this forum) that their prices are a result of market manipulation.

This is pure profiteering so if you want to play that game, do so at your own risk!
17858  Economy / Gambling / Re: CoinPro.fit - A Bitcoin Dice Site - Backed by MoneyPot on: June 06, 2017, 05:17:58 AM
It's certainly been a really long time since I saw a new MP site. MP was one of the very first sites I used (and got lucky at) so it's a little nostalgic in that sense. I just tried the game - works as well as any but here are a few tips I hope you'll look into if you want to last:

1. Spend a bit on customisation. There are already so many dice sites out there with better designs. You already have a higher house edge than most, and lack proper promotions or a loyalty programme so you'll need a twist on design or game play to make it unique.
2. Faucet: yes, faucets can mean an early death for new dice sites, but only if managed poorly. Have a look at the current MP top app and see how their faucet is run.
3. Get a contest going. With your current low userbase, this will really help get in new eager users. We all like new sites with, run a contest to hook us in!
17859  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the economy situation in your country that bad? on: June 06, 2017, 04:56:48 AM
The economy is cyclical in every country, every region and this pattern also applies globally, in varying degrees of effect and lengthened/shortened periods of time. What is clear is that it is, as others have noted, linked to a lot more than market dynamics. Leadership and politics, new rather than conventional resources, these are what are more important to the "economic situation".

I've been to countries with so-called "broken economies" like Greece whose people still seem to fare better on the streets than in "growing economies" like in Southeast Asia.
17860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: June 06, 2017, 04:20:07 AM
The problem with so many of the rationalizations I see are all based on tiny, limited scopes and the fundamental change of everything that is Bitcoin.

Segwit + 2MB + LN = all problems are fixed and the world is a happy, shiny new place where growth will no longer occur. Not!
[...]What if we say, "Core devs we accept no half-way measures, any fork must be future-forward looking"?
I partly agree - I had favoured a conservative, but dynamic approach like this one for future blocksize scaling. I also agree that LN is not the Messiah some are preaching about - it's a solution suitable for certain kinds of micro- and minipayments, not more. I regard it as the equivalent to a (general-purpose) prepaid card in the cryptocurrency world.

But the dangers of too big blocks cannot be ignored. I know the importance of full nodes is sometimes exaggerated, but for the individual users they are the most secure (and the only really trustless) option to participate in the Bitcoin network.

And sometimes, I think a little bit of realpolitik is needed. It's obvious that 2MB+Segwit (or Segwit alone) isn't a final solution. It's a dirty hack, but it solves most short-term problems we actually have (that were my previous posts about). We will very probably (no mathematical proof, but I'm 99% sure) have some air after it to find a better governance model and a long-term scaling solution.

It's funny that the rationalisations used on either side gets accused of being based on tiny, limited scopes =).

As someone who will never be fully initiated into the realm of "knowledgeable" I have to say that both you guys say what is genuinely on our minds. What we do understand of this allows us to want a way forward, but we prefer solutions that say: "this is how we will move forward, and this is what we will do when these likely issues come up" instead of "we won't do that because that sucks".

Amen on realpolitik. No one is deluded to think there is one final solution.
