If you're saying only 1 is invalid but we're being told 2 by the stats, then that means...

|

use extenders to space them out, it will drop temps quite dramatically.

|

I find it weird that yesterday same thing happened with 2 invalid blocks 1 after another and today same thing...
|
|

How come stats don't show connected workers anymore slush?

not as much as I would like... next time when I buy 200-300 of these babes, I'll push for some more serious discount, though.
Any chance we can work out a group buy when you do that? Give you more leverage for bargaining discounts. Dunno when you're planning your next order, but just a thought.

I definitely do. Great job man!

Use a pci1x to 16x extender. Bam 4 cards

Hi guys, currently have one 5870, decided to go all out and buy three more 5870's cause i want at least 1600 hash speed. In order to do this I'd need two new things, a psu and motherboard. My remainign system should be ok, i have 3 HDD and a 530 i3. Could you guys tell me what psu would be best for 4 gpu's as well as a suitable motherboard? Are there any advantages to running two systems? I was planning on banging this all in a rack mount with pce extenders... ideas? Heat control will include numerous case fans and two large desktop fans.
I'm running 3 with Corsair TX850w, so for 4 I'd probably go with 1k or up from a brand name psu company. As for mother board, if you 4 vid cards is all you'll use for that rig http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157207 then the ASRock with a 1x->16x extender is perfect and the cheapest I've found so far. Next step up would probably be the MSI890.

Should be able to squeeze 280 Mhash out of a 5830 pretty easily, I've had mine as high as 320 in testing.
Are you stalking me? JK 5830's are talk of the town now that 5850's are so hard to come by.

Just here to help and learn with fellow miners

Have you done the pinout mod on the PCIe extenders? Poke around the forums, something about voltage you need to bump up or short out or some such. Can't recall exactly, I'm not using ribbons myself.
For some mother boards you will have to short 2 pins on the 1x slot to get it to work. I had to do this, but I find it strange that you're 16x slots won't work. Here's the blog that details this, http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=42

Use one of the overclocking tools that allow you to control fan speed manually, ramp it up until you find a stable temp you're comfortable with.
90% fanspeed and still hovers from 80-83ish.

I'd rather not cuz i still do all of the stuff i did before on my pc , like Viewing youtube etc. so id rather change something on the Miner
I still surf and stream videos and watch movies with my 5870 with mem clocked at 325. If you're gaming that's a different story. Right click on streaming vids and disable hardware acceleration.

Don't have the guts and know how to change the thermal paste...

Downclock the memory to as low as u can without crashing. It will drop the temps by a bit. Quite a few people also report a sweet spot when downclocking memory below 400mhz that raises their hash a bit.

|
|
5830's are great $/hash I like the 5850's more but they are hard to come by now a days.
|
|
|
Been wondering that myself, my main card hovers from 80-83 while the 2 other are 70-73.

Overclock it a little with MSI Afterburner. Also try to see if you get better performance without crossfiring them, you might need a dummy plug if windows don't pick up the 2nd card. Some ppl have reported no performance loss with crossfire and some have. Worth a try either way to see if un-crossing them will give you a little more hash

Yea if you're looking to buy retail I don't think nothing can beat a 5830 for $/hash ratio, but if you can find a 5850 for roughly the same price you should get the 5850. It consumes less power than the 5830 and has a bit more hashing power.
