canaan   1,424.56THs, seems they have dropped significant Hash Rate. I wonder why? Also, I am about growing my farm with Avalons, does anyone have specs on the new A8 that is rumored to come out in January. Looking to add another ~150 TH/s to max out my available power. Any info regarding the A8 would be appreciated. THX Mine On!!

Many of us buy only from the mfrs direct, or from endorsed, official distributors

Would BITMAIN pre-sell one version and then ship a different one?
This is what Eastshore is claiming why they have the different version to ship in the first place.

FWIW, the 2 S9's I ordered for Dec 11-20th batch show Antminer S9-14TH/s in the order status. Granted that doesn't mean anything since I think they claim +/- 5%.  This is my first Bitmain order.
I ordered 4 S9 14TH from Bitmain. All of them had the nomenclature showing 14th/s however one has never, ever, ever hashed above 13.7TH/s. The other 3 are within specs. Of note, the configuration in the one that does not hash to the advertised TH/s is the hottest running machine and the Freq for each hashing board are lower than the 14th/s ones. Hope this helps.

Getting a couple S9's online, 14TH batch. Any way to adjust the fan speed and Clock anymore? cold basement and chips are 68-71. I'd like to turn fans down for noise and run chips around 88-92. I remember seeing a URL link to still access the fan and clock settings, latest shipped FW does not have those options anymore.

http://miner.ip.addr/cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi

That's as good as it gets but not fan speed directly just a small amount of control over the max frequency

How do I use this. Where do I insert that into my S9 SW interface? Your help is much appreciated. Mine On!!

Nevermind!! I asked a stupid question. Not willing to lose 3 hours of mining to play with Freq.

Yes, we are all generously patient as we await our inevitable payments, BTC falling from the sky. Lovely.

In other news, I hope everyone has their dance shoes polished because its about time to start cut'n that rug!

Dancing already with my 4 Leaf Clover and my Lucky Rabbits foot. Variance is variance and LUCK IS LUCK!! This mining stuff has brought a brand new meaning to the term, getting lucky!! LOL  Mine On!!

Today is a big day folks.

Going to be interesting to see what happens in a few hours !

What happens in a few hours?

The launch of futures... Not sure it will have a huge impact on the price of BTC at this time. Remember that the contracts expire in January. These are cash settlement so there is no buying and purchasing of the actual coin.
Anyone who is foolish enough to Short Bitcoin on a Futures Contract, doesn't understand Bitcoin and they will be parting from their money. It is a fools bet. With the 3% worldwide adoption phase set to go into effect in 2018, they are going to get slaughtered. I believe the term "I pity the fool" applies.

Hello guys, can someone tell me how to ping the server?

Thanks in advance
on windows, click on the windows start button and type "cmd" followed by enter.  That opens up a black window where you can type "ping nya.kano.is" (or whatever).  Your miner may also have a ping option in your network configuration area.

thank you very much! and what is considered to be a good response time? it shows 33/34 ms for me.

I am 46-48ms.
I am 14-15ms to NYA, the European Servers that are across the Atlantic from me are considerably slower but considerably faster than all the other worldwide servers from my location. So I set my 2 and 3 failovers to the Netherlands and Germany servers. Hope this helps. The faster, the better IMHO.

It currently takes about ~13.5 days to reach your full payout potential.  So far this month we are getting about 0.00028344 BTC/TH/Day so for a 13.5TH S9 it would be roughly 0.00322123 BTC/Day on average.

hi clgrissom3,

1. do you need to register for the full payout potential to work? I'm wondering if you can use just the Bitcoin Address.

2. if you disconnect your device because of a power outage, will the potential be carried over or you start again on the 1 day?

3. they found some block today, will you get something if you are connected or your need the 13.5 days to get a reward?

Thanks

1. no, yes
2. ?
3. yes you will get something

2. You just have to make up what you lose...if your miners were down for 4 hours from the power outage you just need to cover the 4 hours.  You do not start back on day 1.

People, don't sweat the 5Nd thing.  Just set an alarm for 2 weeks from the day you started and when the alarm goes off, have a shot of good whiskey to toast reaching your full 5Nd.  Just remember BTC mining is a marathon so sit back and enjoy the ride or you will go crazy worrying about everything!

Agreed, Kano Pool shares the fees, it has a 5ND system to keep it honest and stop pool hoppers from jumping in when you reach 100% of Difficulty to get a "reward" off of other peoples hashrate. It has 0 fees until 2018 AND on top of it all, it confirms its own blocks so save in fees into the network. I am a newbie, but I did my homework before I ever pointed a machine at this pool and I could not find a better pool to contribute to. KANO POOL is by far the best Bitcoin Mining Pool available. bar none. So, do the Block Dance, rub your lucky rabbits foot and MINE ON!!! Nobody is cheating anybody here, quite to the contrary, it is the most ethical pool and fairly run that I could find.

Thks. One more question plz, I do have 1 S9, how much will I get per day (average), I’ve tried some other pool like nicehash, viabtc or slush and I often get about 0,0003BTC/day. And then when I found kano, I pointed my S9 to kano and I only get 0,0006 for about 2 days mined, is that normal?
Sorry for my bad english Sad

without even talking about anything else,
you do realize that 0.0003 btc/day would be 0.0006 in two days, right?
 Grin
Sorry, I mean 0.003/day, and I got 0.0006 for 2 days here Sad
Relax, you will get your BTC. The pool is run very efficiently. When we find another block the pool will confirm it with no fees attached, meaning we save that amount of BTC every time. Look at as a bonus PLUS when you ramp up to 5ND, you will be rewards go up based upon your hashrate provided to the pool across the entire ramp up period. This is done to stop pool hoppers taking advantage of those who keep hashing consistently in the pool. All is good, push the trust button, this is the BEST pool available.

On the Kano Pool Website I show the pool working on 498188 at 29 minutes. That block was found by BTCC a few minutes ago and already has a confirmation. It is NOT my connection to the Internet. Kano can you please look into this?
As I said before, you most likely are connected to some proxy.
ISPs often use a proxy for all the people who connect to them.
The pool is fine and switches blocks fine.
If we were switching blocks taking minutes there'd be orphans all over the place over the past month you've been pointing out this same issue.
I will push the I believe button. All that matters is that the 4 S9's that I just added to the pool are given the work they need to help find a Block for the pool!! Not a lot but I am in the Pool, swimming around happy as a Scallop, just added 56TH to the clan of happy miners!! Let Roll.
If you login to your miner you can see when they switch work Smiley
Though the time the miner thinks it is, may or may not be correct ... or even years incorrect Tongue

... though I didn't add this before, but if you are using tor or anything like that, please don't.
That will add lots of delays in the work and the block changes at your miner and will cause stales and lost pool blocks.
Kano,
Not using TOR. Firefox Browser, that may be the problem, but honestly not worried about it. It definitely is not on your end. I was just concerned, but you are correct, if network latency was bad the entire pool would be blowing up with stales, lost blocks and orphans.
I understand network latency and timing. Been in the technology game for a long time. I made sure I had sufficient bandwith and overhead to get the work done and back as  quickly as possible. Pointed all 4 to NYA with a ping <14ms from my location. Straight fiber all the way to New York.... they say in life, timing is everything. In mining, I think it definitely improves the odds if you have a minimal ping to get and return the work.
I hope I find a block right away, I won't get anything paid out to me for it since I have only been up for about 8 hours but it would set the tone for many more in the future as I build out my farm. Press On and ........................... Mine On!! Thanks for a great pool.  Smiley

Noob question.

Will adding another s9 get to my 5nd faster?

Adding Hashrate to the pool helps everyone involved. The pool reaches difficulty faster which hypothetically means blocks are found faster. Variance (luck) does play a role. Adding hashrate is a win win for everybody. I am adding 4 S9's at 14 TH/s tomorrow. 5nd will happen for me, not worried about when, I just know that I have to pay a little in power and time up front to keep the pool fair. No pool hoppers here which means fair payouts for those who are committed to the pool. Right now at ~98% of difficulty if this was not a 5nd type pool, the pool would see a huge increase in Hashrate then as soon as the pool found a block, they would leave and go to another pool to try and get a payout there. Mine On, you are in the best pool that mines Bitcoin. Push the I believe button and keep adding hashrate!! Everybody wins with BTC @ $17,165, those are BIG wins and this pool consistently finds blocks. Have faith, with a little luck and some patience you can build yourself a very nice tidy sum mining here.

54th hr and no blocks Sad what gives!

Current shares toward difficulty is 1,111,874,747,839 (69.89%). It takes time and luck. MINE ON!!! How about a 14K BTC price, when the pool hits a block and it will, THAT is a nice chunk of change!!

Thank you @Waztim @HagssFIN for the explanations!

Are the workers and your bitcoin address connected? I mean if you only use the bitcoin address 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb, then you suddenly changed it to have a .worker ( 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb.worker, will the work you did in the bitcoin address only will get transferred to the new worker?

I have 4 S9's on the way, last update is they left Anchorage Alaska 6 hours ago. I have tried to ask all the same questions or answer them for myself doing some homework. Also that 1KANO BTC address is just an example, don't mine to it, if you do, if it an actual BTC address, Kano will send the rewards to that address. LOL Anyway, I am a Newbie just like you. Mine On!! Oh, and HOW ABOUT A BLOCK FOR THE GOOD MINERS ON THIS POOL!!!!! I just sacrificed a Philly Steak Sammich, some fries and a Diet Coke for one!!

Kano seems pretty popular here, may as well add my 27T/H to it.

Can I add L3+'s though?

Thanks

This is a Bitcoin only pool.

Hi,

1. can i use just the bitcoin address in the Worker: field?

In the example format is
Worker:            1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb.worker

can i just use bitcoin address without the .worker like this
Worker:           1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb

2. How does the payout work? I did not understand the 5Nd.

3. Is this address correct ? stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 or nya+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333?

Thanks all

stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 is the correct format
