181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WAS] - WeAreSatoshi Coin - Hard Fork / Coin Swap Underway, New Algo = X11 on: July 06, 2014, 03:09:16 PM
Hello

Looking forward to the coin update but https://github.com/WeAreSatoshi/WeAreSatoshi.git will not build on Archlinux.

I'm getting the following error and cannot submit an issue on github.

build/bitcoinrpc.o: In function `_GLOBAL__sub_I__Z12JSONRPCErroriRKSs':
bitcoinrpc.cpp:(.text.startup+0xd57): undefined reference to `sendalert(std::vector<json_spirit::Value_impl<json_spirit::Config_vector<std::string> >, std::allocator<json_spirit::Value_impl<json_spirit::Config_vector<std::string> > > > const&, bool)'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Makefile:311: recipe for target 'WeAreSatoshi-qt' failed
make: *** [WeAreSatoshi-qt] Error 1

The previous commit had no issues.

It looks like rpcalert.cpp is missing form the makefile you are using. If you add it in the same spot as rpcnet.cpp and the other rpc files it should compile.

Are there more details on he switch to x11? What will the new total coins be? mining reward?

It will be just like in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=661588.msg7610238#msg7610238
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPT] - Spots Thread - ScryptN | Cryptsy | Silver / Gift Card Stores on: July 04, 2014, 05:08:00 PM
Since there hasn't been a ton of interest I've lowered the ticket price for the $25 Amazon gift card raffle to 250 Spots (people who have already purchased ticket(s) will receive 2x their number of entries to make up for the price difference.)

You can enter the raffle at http://www.crypto2.net/raffle.html

Improvements have been made. There are still other things that i can do.

Looks pretty good Smiley
Is the #WeAreSatoshi easily readable at 256x256? That's probably the size people will see most since it will be on the Overview tab of the new client. (The splash screen can be a larger version though.)
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPT] - Spots Thread - ScryptN | Cryptsy | Silver / Gift Card Stores on: July 03, 2014, 11:37:18 PM
I uploaded a new client with the Spots v1 icons and nuttynoah's image as the splash screen. It's at https://github.com/theSPT/spots2-binaries (has no other code changes, so it's just a graphical change.)

I actually like this idea. It fits with the coin very well.

Yeah, that's pretty nice.

OK- This thread works fine. I'll put out 0.1 BTC for a logo redesign contest. One single chosen winner takes it all and has to have something to show our message, could be Gold, Silver, Bronx or Black. Be creative and willing to give up intellectual right to our team to use in website/marketing and the likes. Feel free to add/modify the requirements.

We'll probably need multiple sizes too, the main ones are 512x512, 256x256, and 32x32 (for the program icon); or even better the PSD or whatever program they use.

Definitely agreed on that, trying to keep the old network running indefinitely will be a waste of time; if people haven't swapped in 3-6 months I doubt they ever will.

Ah hah- I caught you lying. You're also holding the faucet coins  Grin Jokes aside, both MrData and ACN have not any incentives so far and they've been doing an amazing job. In BCT alone, we have 9 pages in 1 week, that's something vs 22 pages in 4 months with most of them go "is this coin dead?"

Yep, I don't own those though Smiley
Just for total transparency though when I say I don't own any I just mean not any kind of significant amount, I have 2 old USB Eruptors going on the pool rofl Smiley

Is it possible to make WAS2 with 0 premine, BUT depending on how much you had in you old wallet, permanently give higher POS for new coins?
For example. If someone just starts mining he has 10% per year. If you had 100mil WAS in your old wallet you'll get 20% and so on? SHA256 of cause.
Can this be done?

I don't think that would be possible, at least not in any kind of reasonable and secure manner. Since coins are all just tied to an address and not an overall identity there wouldn't be a good way to control who gets the higher percent and who doesn't so it would probably be exploited.

I would be the one doing the coin swap. I'm the original founder of CoinPayments.net if that builds any trust with you. The coin swap can go on indefinitely or there can be a 3-6 month limit or something. If there is a time limit and depending on how many coins are left they could be:
1) Destroyed
2) Given to the faucet to give away
3) Used for bounties/services
4) Other/some combination of the above

yes  i understand...  why not fix other stuff while you got it apart.   it's the other stuff i am concerned about if it goes to far what's the point  you may as well make a whole new coin...  all I am trying to say...    Change is good,  but too much could hurt worse then we are hurting rite now...    why can't anyone understand what i am getting at Huh

I can understand what you are saying but as-is the coin isn't generating interest from the market and I don't think just a coin reduction would change that. imo X11 fits the WeAreSatoshi coin because Satoshi wanted to put control of the money supply into the hands of the people and for now at least anyone can mine X11 without needing high end graphics cards or FPGA/ASIC.

Nobody has said you can't buy it, just that it's hard to sell since there are few to no buyers.

Edit: Also as for financial incentive I don't know about AmericanComputerNerd but I don't own any WAS; so it's not like I'm getting some big payday from this; I'm doing it for the fun and the experience and because people came to our thread and requested it.

otherwise what is the issue at present? Downloaded chain and all seems fine.

Last I heard was it was staking before being fully synced up, adding a couple more hardcoded checkpoints and running the checkpointing server would fix that though.

If you start a checkout you can view their feedback on the checkout page, or you might be able to post a support ticket and ask at CoinPayments.net (remember me and pr0d1gy no longer own CoinPayments, so we don't have access to that information any longer.)
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: *Improved* CoinPayments.net - Multi Cryptocoin Payment Processing on: June 29, 2014, 11:00:27 PM
There are at least 3 ways to get to your seller's feedback:
1. When you check out you can click the seller's feedback % at the top of the page to view the feedback people have left about them.
2. If you were logged in when you sent the payment you can view the payment in your account and there will be a link to the seller's feedback.
3. If you go the payment status URL you got in the 1st payment confirmation email there is a link on that page too.

my point exactly... feedback is for a buyer to read before they make a purchase... if u send the payment and then see that the feedback is terrible what good does it do then...so how can i see feed back to base a decision on it.... what is feedback for if after you get ripped off you leave negative feedback so somebody else can read it after they get ripped off, so they can leave negative feedback so somebody else can read it after they get ripped off, so they can leave negative feedback so somebody else can read it after they get ripped off, so they can ..............

u see my point ,this is crazy

what do i do to see merchant feedback??

The 1st item in the list is before you've made the payment, not after... the 3rd one can be too if visit the page before sending any funds.

This may be out of date but I thought Darkcoin was having issues with the actual anonymous part of it?

I'm sure there is a good X11 one we can use as a basis for the new version, or on the Scrypt front BlackCoin would probably be a good candidate and could possibly be changed over to Scrypt-N.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WAS] - WeAreSatoshi SHA256 Coin - Now trading (WAS/BTC) at RockyTrade.net! on: June 29, 2014, 05:04:15 PM
Another thing would be if we want to change algorithms, the codebases of most SHA coins with PoS are pretty outdated (but still stable) while Scrypt and other algorithms are more up to date with coin control, etc.
I know the coin is called WeAreSatoshi but he was also all about putting the currency in the hands of the people and with SHA mining so industrialized other algorithms are much more accessible for the average person.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WAS] - WeAreSatoshi SHA256 Coin - Now trading (WAS/BTC) at RockyTrade.net! on: June 29, 2014, 03:22:02 AM
1) On the swap, here is basically how it would happen:

1. Release a new v1 client that stops giving PoW rewards or gives miniscule rewards at block height X but still accepts work to keep the chain moving. That makes it so v1 isn't still minting money with people trying to trade it in for v2. The new version would also make it so new transaction comments will be stored with the transactions on the blockchain.
2. Release the new v2 client that has a premine for the entire replacement money supply of v1.
3. People will send their v1 WAS to an address with their v2 WAS address as the transaction comment, I'll write a program that watches the incoming v1 transactions and sends out new v2 replacement coins. Exchanges can use this method or contact us for a direct replacement without going through the program. If the transaction comment is empty or the comment isn't a valid v2 address then it would send the v1 coins back to their owner.
Edit: Part of the reason for doing it this way versus a web-based solution is so there is no IP trail connecting your old address to your new for your privacy.

2) People would have a long time to swap; say 3-6 months? Any of the new coins not swapped after the time allowed can either be destroyed or used for giveaways/advertising/whatever the community wants. Or it could be run indefinitely.

4) It probably is a good idea to keep PoW going along with PoS, it helps to make sure the blockchain keeps running smoothly. I'm not sure if we should keep it as a meaningful reward (like dividing the current block reward by 100 too) or a token reward like 10 WAS. Still assuming a 100:1 swap ratio my personal preference is probably a lesser block reward like 125 WAS halving every 200,000 blocks down to a stable 10 WAS; this would give about 3 more months of higher rewards before hitting the maintenance reward of 10 WAS. For PoS a 1-2% reward would probably be good since PoW would still be going; but really it's up to the community.

I had the same thought but wasn't sure how it's going to play out and honestly I'm ready to send some BTC after selling some of my Mints for the raffle.
1. How will you handle the swap, Bittrex Richie did swap for some coins but they were on the Exchange to begin with?
2. What will happen to the people that didn't know or didn't want to participate at first?
3. What can you do with the largest wallet (WXvAuSCM9dJ9NYnfir2RrkivyC4PsLbdkQ)? I think it belongs to http://sha.mine-pool.net/was now Xguild.net. It stole hundred of million WAS from me and never responded with any of my emails. I'm sure there are many miners out there lost their coins too.
4. Will the 10 coin reward enough to keep the network safe? Why don't we go POS to save some energy?
5. 2% pre-mine is no issue IMHO, you guys just have to be transparent about it with Google doc or some sort of reports to inform everyone.

200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPT][SPOTS] - Official Spots Thread - Use Your Spots For Silver Raffle NOW on: June 28, 2014, 05:16:54 PM
I'll be giving away a $25 Amazon Gift Card from my store as a Spots' birthday raffle. Tickets are only 500 SPT and the raffle will be open through July 21st, 2014.

To buy tickets simply click here: http://www.crypto2.net/raffle.html

Raffle Transparency:
I'll be using the list randomizer at random.org to pick the winner with this process:
1. At the end of the day July 21st I'll post the list of CoinPayments transaction IDs of the entries on pastebin. If you purchased more than 1 ticket during checkout your transaction ID will be in the list once for each ticket.
2. On http://www.random.org/lists/?mode=advanced you will see the pregenerated randomization from previous dates. When the randomness for 2014-07-23 is posted I will copy/paste the transaction ID list in and use the 2014-07-23 randomness. [I picked 2014-07-23 since I don't know what time random.org posts their data and I didn't want 2014-07-22 to have already been posted.]
3. The 1st transaction ID in the randomized list will be the winner and I will contact them via email.

Using this process will make sure that the raffle can't be rigged and will be 100% random. Using the pregenerated data will make it so anyone can copy/paste the list in from pastebin to verify I haven't tampered with the results.
