We strongly recommend people acquire swarm coins through the instructions on our website. Counterwallet is under active development and does not work equally well for all use cases.

Update, the main problem with counterpartyd that caused our servers to go down yesterday has been resolved. There is another hopefully smaller problem that still exists, but any queued payments should start to come out on the next couple blocks.

Unfortunately with these technologies it's not super easy to notify people. We sent out an email newsletter, blog post, announcement on Bitcointalk, token issuance to all SWARMPRE holders that had a link to the blogpost, and active discussion in our Skype group (which now has 100+ people).

For any future votes we will announce them well in advance through the same channels.  In this case due to the nature of our fundraiser we had a very short turn around time. That said, I'm not super disappointed at the turnout since it A) involved the most engaged participants  B) is the first time anything like this has been done.

There are some people working on the breaking changes introduced to counterpartyd yesterday. If it's not resolved by end of day today I guess we will be back to processing things manually.

Apparently CounterpartyD is being rebooted right now, so sorry for delays. As for the initial Indication of Interest round, it was announced on Counterparty forums before we started our official launch.

Pretty sure that's what's happening. I'm hoping that Counterparty implements some kind of transaction locking  for a particular period, otherwise there's nothing to prevent this sort of immediate dumping.
