181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What have you done/are you doing with your ICO coins? on: December 05, 2020, 09:33:35 PM
Hi fellas!

We have witnessed a tremendous ICO trend in 2017-18. I am sure a lot of you would have participated in many ICOs. If not, you would have received altcoins as a payment mode from bounties. So, what have you done to them? If you haven't sold them, what is your plan with them?

I had participated in more than a dozen of ICOs and I am still holding their coins. They include:

1. Wanchain (WAN)
2. ICON (ICX)
3. Elastos (ELA)
4. Ren Protocol (REN)
5. Project Pai (PAI)
6. Walimai (WABI)
7. Request Network (REQ)
8. Quantstamp protocol (QSP)
9. Ripio Credit Network (RCN)
10. Apex (CPX → PHX)
11. Nash Exchange (NEX)
12. Lympo (LYM)
13. Experty (EXY)
14. Cardstack (CARD)
15. Insights Network (INSTAR)
16. Remme Protocol (REMME)
17. Atonomi (ATMI)
and a few more...

It's not that I lost a huge sum as a very few of them had returned back invested amount. But I am not sure now what to do with these. So, if you are holding any of these of such ICO tokens, what are you planning to do with 'em.

I have let go of many of them, that is, sold them, and those I couldn't sell are still there with little to no value. Seriously, the ICO era taught many people a lesson and that lesson is, not all coins and tokens are worth holding for long, and thus, once you see a good price just sell because you might not see such price again; although it depends on the project.
Now, looking at your list, some of those coins are trading, such as ICX, INSTAR, REMME, I also remember CARD, but don't know if it is still trading or not. I suggest you visit coinmarketcap or Coingecko and search for some of those coins to see the exchanges they are listed on if possible. If some aren't listed, you can visit their telegram group to search for answers or to ask questions.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swipe (SXP) is a death defi project? on: December 05, 2020, 09:23:54 PM
It seems I am not getting something here, current rank in coinmarketcap is 125, current volume is more than $25M, and market cap is more than $73M, now let me ask, how can a project with such rank, such volume, and such market cap be regarded as a dead project? To be frank, I do not agree with that statement, and I see it as a project passing through market reaction just like others. Also, there are many Defi projects which are not even close to what this project offers let alone being close to its rank. In addition, although it is wise for someone to carry out his due diligence on whatever project he want to invest in, but in this case, seeing these little features of this coin, I can say it is not a dead project but a project whose team are active and working on their goals and this is being seen in its properties on coinmarketcap.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If crowdfunding started from IEO on: December 04, 2020, 01:52:56 PM
I'm just curious, if IEO was the first crowdfunding that came out with full hype just like ICO in 2017 would there still be better trusts on new projects today? I believe that IEO delivers more trust through top exchanges and that's why they are still very much alive today compare to ICO, what do you say?

That is true, had it been IEO was around before ICO I believe there will be lesser scam projects and lesser exit scams. ICO gave many scammers and many fraudulent projects the opportunity to raise funds easily and also abandon the project easily. Also, ICO gave project teams the liberty to list on whatever exchange they want and mostly small exchanges, just to fulfill their obligations and then abandon the project. But in the case of IEO, it was entirely different, that is, investors have the opportunity to decide based on the type of exchange since it was seen that, IEO on top exchanges comes from reliable projects. Also, in IEO, project team can't easily exit scam unless it is on questionable exchanges, since investors will already have their tokens before trading starts.
Last but not the least, IEO gave investors the choice of becoming holders or not, unlike in ICO where they are forced into holding their tokens because of no exchange or low price.
However, irrespective of the bad experiences with ICO, there are still major projects today which did ICO and the platform still functioning till today. On the other hand, there are still IEO projects that are dead, but in all ramifications, IEO is far better.

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Visa Partners With Ethereum Digital Dollar (USDC) Startup on: December 03, 2020, 09:06:45 AM
This is a wonderful news which has yet added another prominence to the crypto space, wherein more exposure will be achieved. First it was PayPal, now it's Visa, maybe MasterCard will follow sooner than later; all these platforms are payment processing systems or platforms, wherein they make the payment for services easy, now looking at the trend so far they have come to understand that as crypto is making headway and doesn't looks like it's slowing down, then it's better for them to join up and/or partner with it as soon as possible so as to be part of the future.
So in essence, by adopting USDC more people who uses VISA will get to know more about USDC, through this way, getting acquainted with the crypto space, because they will come to the understanding that, for VISA to partner with it, means crypto has something good to offer.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mobile wallet is more important on: December 03, 2020, 08:22:57 AM
It's becoming a frustrating issue when new project you have interest in have no mobile wallet, for over a year and half now I've waited for a project to built their mobile wallet but nothing so far, what are developers thinking? We are in an era where by mobility is the best choice for most people, who still sits in from on a computer just to send coins ? You also have to keep syncing the coin blockchain too to stay updated.

Don't blame people for not investing when you aren't making things easier for them, mobile users are much more than PC users, dear developers start considering mobile wallet pls

That's quite true, convenience and easy accessibility is the main aim and thats why most people values mobile apps or mobile wallets nowadays. Also, this issue is found mainly for projects using their own blockchain while as for those based on already developed blockchain, users need not to worry unless the platform want to develop their own mobile wallet which will also run on already developed blockchain. Furthermore, in as much as developing a mobile wallet makes a platform look serious, one still need to be careful because developing a mobile wallet is one thing and maintaining it through more Improvements is another, and this is where most team are found wanting. So in essence, let's not use mobile wallets as a huge criteria in knowing a good platform that will last long term, because if the team run out of ideas or gets fade up or the project gets tough, they can still abandon the project.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops are important on: December 02, 2020, 06:54:31 PM
Airdrops is one of the ways in which projects leverage on to promote their ideas to potential investors, so if it is not important I do not think any project team will ever think of it.
The thing is, airdrops always plays a role but nowadays, project teams are changing the nature of airdrops, that is, after getting the right promotion they want, they will refuse to pay and give many excuses. Another is, scammers now see airdrops as a means to make money, that is, on one hand, some will launch an airdrop so as to get attention of people who will support their private sale or presale only for them to be scammed, on the other hand, some will launch an airdrop only to scam their participants through asking for transfer fees and so on. Therefore, considering all these shortcomings, one will tend to wonder the Importance of airdrops, but however, there are projects which launch a bounty program as well as airdrop, which means that, for that to happen, shows airdrop is worth it but participants needs to be careful and selective of the type of airdrops they participate in.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO scams vs DeFi scams on: December 02, 2020, 06:41:22 PM
After scammers ruin ICO in 2018 and onecoin and bitconnet became the biggest ICO fraud cases I thought things will atleast adjust for the better, things looked more promising when IEO took over and became more popular thanks to binance and other top exchanges performance but 2020 is very different, DeFi became a thing and once again scammers have the freedom to operate, something very identical to ICO freedom. All in the name of Decentralized and DEX, Uniswap for example, scammers are now roaming free...

1. They find uniswap as better haven to sell clone tokens
2. Even hacks are happening around DeFi projects almost every month now.

why is DeFi platforms more easier to hack? Or are developers the real culprits hacking their platforms themselves? DeFi failure will forever be a stain in crypto history

DeFi stands for Decentralized Finance, and this aspect of decentralization is what made it stand out and as such attracts a lot of people, but however considering the hacks being witnessed one will tend to wonder if at all those platforms are decentralized or the team just using that term to enrich themselves. Also, one of the attributes of decentralization is more security and trust, but how can Defi be trusted when most of them have already been hacked, therefore looking at all this hacks, I am still wondering the Importance of Defi and its significance. On the other hand is the issue of scam projects listing on Uniswap as easy as they want, some even clone others just to scam people, this is another aspect where DeFi becomes questionable.
Hence, from all ramifications and comparing ICO and DeFi to IEO, it seems that only IEO is better so far, because to an extent exit scams was reduced and the rate at which scam projects comes up, was also reduced as well.

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons from the fullest dip on: November 29, 2020, 04:00:41 PM
The crash will teach alot of people a bitter lesson and they will learn from it,
they will learn the following

1. Never to love a coin

2. Never to be greedy

3. To cashout on profit always

4. To stop following hype

5. To know that what goes up must come down etc

I would say these points described many categories of people, that is, those who loves a coin, those who follows hype, those who are greedy and so on. Looking at number 4, this has been the bane of many people in this crypto space, where once they see a project with hype, they don't care again to do the right things such as studying the project, but they just jump in with just one mindset, to make profit or quick money, and in many cases they ended up losing their money. Number 3 and 5, I think they goes together, one needs to take profit as at when due while also bearing in mind that, the crypto space is unpredictable and volatile hence in a coin, there must be price correction and so on. Being greedy is another which should be fought off, as it has caused more harm than good.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just info for all of you : "Stake BNB to Earn Free Tokens!" on: November 28, 2020, 05:27:18 PM
One of the good facts about Binance platform is that, the team always try their best to support any of their features such that more activities can be realised on it, that is, ever since they launched their smart chain, they have been putting things in place to attract more users, at least this can be seen as a good example.
Nevertheless, I don't know much about this CAKE token and if it is worth staking your BNB for it. I mean, BNB is very valuable, but staking it for a token like CAKE, will the reward gotten be valuable and worthy of the time and effort invested? The reason for my thoughts is that, most times, most projects just use the Binance platform to create hype and nothing more, and once the aim has been achieved, one will realize that the token will find it hard growing. Therefore, I think one need to compare a lot of things to ascertain if the staking event is worthwhile at the long run.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market is plunging on: November 28, 2020, 05:16:13 PM
Whenever the market grows so high there is always a time for price drop and it is called price correction, before another growth starts, although sometimes it can be a huge dump. I guess the reason why most people are still sceptical is what happened in 2017 where the market grew so much and dumped massively, wherein no pump like this have been witnessed for long untill now. Nevertheless, we should understand that, in consideration with the good attention from platforms like PayPal and institutional investors coming into the crypto space, the price correction this time around is different and can be called a "healthy" one. So yes, the crypto market is plunging but not like before.

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin pump and dumps ! on: November 27, 2020, 09:28:52 AM
You are newbie to all these pump and dump groups, that's why you are still in that group and being moved as well. The whole truth is, they cannot be trusted, let me ask, how do you know they are buying at the same time? This is just a group of people who come together, decide a coin to buy, buy it first then hype it to their users who buys later on and they (the owners) are always the first to sell. Also, look closer you will be surprised that there are people who got trapped and couldn't sell in most cases, as it dumps faster. So stay away from any pump and dump groups, they are not worth it, also stay away from signal groups, you might end up getting trapped and becoming a bag holder; this is crypto space and nothing is certain, that is, many factors drives the market, unpredictability reigns and hence everyone is accountable for whatever decision they make.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Avalanche can be the Ethereum Killer? on: November 27, 2020, 09:14:53 AM
Over the years, many projects has been tagged or regarded as Ethereum killer but yet Ethereum is where it is. Many projects or platforms believes Ethereum speed is low, transaction fee is high etc, but yet Ethereum is where it is, the second best coin. So what does that mean? It means all these projects saying they want to do this or that to Ethereum are only looking for recognition, I mean, if really you have what it takes to beat a platform, just go ahead and work on it, make it happen then let the users be the ones to decide.
About this project, I do not know much about it, however, I do not think any platform can beat that of Ethereum, because Ethereum has grown so much while having many users and projects on its blockchain, even a good number of upcoming projects are still leveraging the Ethereum blockchain to kick off their developement. My humble opinion is, invest in whichever platform you want because you believe in it, and not because it is going to beat one platform or the other, you might end up being disappointed.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Bitcoin's crucial year teaches us? on: November 26, 2020, 07:58:58 AM
This is for those who say that Bitcoin is a bubble, it feels proud to be a believer of Bitcoin I wish you would have added those bearish years wherein the value of Bitcoin dropped beyond imagination wherein most of the user thought it was the end of bitcoin before it pumped back.

I have listed the Bitcoin lowest point followed by pumps as it will help others to understand how Bitcoin has survived and bounced back.

Lowest in 2015
$216 - 5th Feb 2015
Highest in 2015
$464 - 19th December 2015

Lowest in 2018
$3164 - 15th Dec 2018
Highest in 2018
$17635 - 6th January 2018

Lowest in 2020
$5032 - 17th March 2020
Highest in 2020 (till 23/11/2020)
$18891 - 21st November 2020

I hope this will give you all a clear picture that every three years we there will be huge market fluctuations and make most of it. Bitcoin is not a bubble but the most trustable crypto that's why no other crypto can overtake it even though some have better features than Bitcoin.

Trust is one thing, features is another, when compared together, many people will go for trust because it is very expensive and takes a lot of time to grow; this is just the case with Bitcoin and many altcoins. Bitcoin is the most trusted which leads to it being the most valuable, and hence have been growing ever since, irrespective of the ups and downs. On the other hand, most altcoins have good features but they can't be trusted, that is, many with "good features" are still struggling to grow or even achieve a little of what Bitcoin has achieved. In addition, many altcoins with so called good features can't even maintain it hence the lack of growth always witnessed within them and even possible exit scam.
Nevertheless, in the aspect of Bitcoin growth every three years, one thing I learnt is, patience; being patient with your holding in Bitcoin always bring about good gains. Another is reliability, that is, holding Bitcoin comes with calmness, because it is reliable and you can trust it. And the last is, protect your Bitcoin at all costs, because it is very valuable.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the government accept it? on: November 26, 2020, 07:37:07 AM
This is the reality as long as we are modern.  Think back to ancient times when people didn't know what money was.  They make transactions through products.  That is, one would replace the other's meat with vegetables.  And that was the process of their transaction.  People have changed over the course of the day.  At one time they used the leaves of the tree as a means of transaction.  Later, gold coins and silver coins were gradually introduced.  And today paper money has been created to make transactions easier.  But even 300 years ago there was no bank, and today we cannot go without a bank.  In the same way, 20 to 30 years from now, maybe the banking system will go up.  Because people don't want anyone else to know their bank account.  And people will choose digital cryptocurrency as an alternative to this bank.  Bitcoin may be his alternative.  Bitcoin is a decentralized process. This means that there is no need for a third party in this process.  There will come a time when people will no longer take the help of banks.  They will manage all the activities of daily life starting from shopping through digital cryptocurrency.

If my idea proves to be correct, will the government of the country accept it?
 1. Will the government of a country ever want their banking sector to be abolished?
 2.  How will the government collect taxes from the people?
 3.  If the government can't keep track of people's legitimate money, won't corruption increase?

The government can not let go of what makes or give them control over their citizens, that can never happen. It is quite true that money has evolved over the years, but from the look of things, paper money or fiat will last a bit more, because they have a central bank managed by the government, hence making them in charge of everything. Also, I read where most countries are already making moves to have their own digital currency, but we should know that, even at that, the digital currency will be heavily centralized and controlled by the government as well.
To answer the questions;
1. The government will never abolish their central bank or banking sector, as that will make them lose a lot of control they have been enjoying.
2. The government can't be messed with once it gets to tax, they will always get a way to collect those taxes.
3. First, banks will always in operation, now any deposit made to the account can and will be monitored by the government.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: These 2 Altcoins are beating every major cryptocurrency in week on: November 25, 2020, 07:52:33 PM
1. XRP
At this time - XRP/USD trade on 0.62$, having reached 0.9$ before sudden crash 30%.
Nevertheless: the tokens still remains far from its peak of over 3$, or roughly 80% from its all-time high.

2. ADA
Another best success story of this week ADA topped 50% weekly gained and ADA now trading almost at 0.16$ some crypto experts asking they will cross all time high 1$+ or 1.7$ in few days (weeks).

Now this is my analysis about 2 top coins.

Guys Share your thoughts or knowledge.

I wonder what those who invested in shitcoins and also waiting for it to pump will be feeling now, I guess regrets. The fact right from when this bull run started is, only few altcoins will pump and majority of these few altcoins will be top altcoins; this is approximately what is happening now and I believe most people are learning their lessons now.
Top altcoins will always be top altcoins and it is in situations like this, that people see their value and potential.
About these two coins XRP and ADA, they are actually among the best altcoins, where ADA is one of my favourite due to its team and their expertise. XRP on the other hand, is one of the coins that keeps looking for ways to grow, all thanks to the team. Hence with more favourable market, I think they will grow more. In the same way, other altcoins like BNB and XLM, are also having their own growth.
Nevertheless, let's be mindful of how we follow the market, and invest what you can afford.
