181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What they won't tell you, how to earn even in the bearish market on: October 25, 2018, 07:15:32 PM
Going by the topic "what they won't tell you, how to earn even in the bearish market" it's not easy to earn in a bearish market because the prices are dropping. But with holding you might see out the bearish era that's if the coin survives it.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Evolution on: October 25, 2018, 07:03:33 PM
The future of bitcoin is unpredictable just as its rise was not predicted the stages of bitcoin has been a high rising one from day one although some obstacles has come it's way but it found a way to stabilize it. So judging by that fact we hope the future is bright
183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin scams on: October 25, 2018, 06:47:38 PM
There are various stories about bitcoin related scam issues. Well this one we ought to be very careful about some fraudster hit me up on a social media app asking me to help withdraw bitcoin for him and sent me a link to a fake, fraudulent exchange which anytime I try to withdraw it demands for 0.01 bitcoin. Then I had registered this exchange with an active wallet I would have gotten duped.
So it's imperative for us to be careful
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DECENTRALIZED OR CENTRALIZED? on: October 25, 2018, 04:58:40 PM
The decentralized nature of cryptocurrency is one of its interesting attributes. And also part of its down turns. If exchanges adopt centralization it will slowly make it way into the whole sectors of cryptocurrency at large.
185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Proofread before posting on: October 24, 2018, 10:52:52 PM
This is a multi national forum and that entails that most nation are represented some in which English is not there official language the put in effort to contribute here although yes there are local boards where the can go through but this forum is predominantly English speaking so I don't think grammatical errors should be taking seriously.. If the post can trigger message then there should be no issues
186  Other / Beginners & Help / Your Security should be at optimal level in cryptocurrency on: October 24, 2018, 12:34:25 PM
It's so sad that cryptocurrency which is a digital currency has offered us a lot of advantages over traditional currency Has been infested with fraudsters, hackers and generally men of the underworld.

Cryptocurrency can not come to an end because of the activities of these bad eggs neither can they(fraudsters) be completely eradicated this are menace we crypto enthusiasts have to live with and also constantly evolve to counter there activities.

In as much as this individuals are smart, wise and sneaky there are some indiscipline that we exhibits that makes us fall prey to this bad guys.
One of the most important and disastrous of them is GREED this character alone can get you duped not just once but several times the cryptocurrency world those not owe your millions so don't think you can come in and become one with out time, effort and knowledge
Other attitude that gives us away are

*inadequate observation... In as much as this guy's come out with great schemes to defraud unsuspecting individual they must be a loop hole if carefully observed Cam counter their attack. Most offer you fake exchanges, wallet e. T. C you can do well to research on them and know their trust level you don't just jump into it just because it's a link and you are captivated by the landscape of the site and it appeals to you as legit no that is a wrong move it's even rear for a reputable exchange, wallet to send you a private link to their site come on the have over a million users already. Also observe names and identity mimicry this is very important most platform those not allow multiple users with similar name but this can be altered slightly by these evil doers to avoid detection

*only trust yourself and God... Never trust anyone not even your hot girl friend everyone is in cryptocurrency to make something out for themself when you understand that. You will keep you wallet address, private keys and even your devices personal.

*seek multiple opinion... For example if Mr a is in partnership with the bad gang Mr b is not and if Mr b is then Mr c is not. Even when searching google about something you not sure of there are many opinion that will be brough out try to weigh various ones.

The topic of safety can not be overemphasized try to make it part of you. You have to practically become a watch dog. The sector is filled with scams stay safe.
187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: scared about online fraud ... on: October 24, 2018, 11:55:59 AM
The rate of scammers online are quite high this is not to say that trading can't be done online but the risk factors are high. A lot of users are impersonating real and reputable traders. Some are flooding your pm with fake wallet, exchanges or even offers you some fraudulent escrow. So the disadvantages quite exceeds the advantages.

It's only wise to get your coins from exchanges and be sure to have researched on the level of safety of the exchange you can do a Google Search on it although it's not so correct but it's gives you an idea

And if you must trade with an individual do it with a notable escrow agent
188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit Giveaway for not hoarding sMerits on: October 23, 2018, 11:26:28 AM
Then that means you would be meritting individuals not for a good work but for the fact the merited others. That is certainly not ethical and it will undermine and bastardise the merit system. I can understand you want the merit system to be adequately distributed but I think it is actually being distributed. Most post that deserve merit actually does get merited.

Merit should be earn no gifted or pressured I think it's best to lock this thread
189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noobs wrong perception on: October 23, 2018, 09:00:25 AM
If this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5055497.0) inspired you for a reply, why didn't you answer there? Why create a new topic and clutter up a poor Meta branch?
No meant to make you feel this way but the title of that post alone makes most not to go through it
And to correct you I also replied there. I just felt I should get thing straight.
190  Other / Beginners & Help / Noobs wrong perception on: October 23, 2018, 08:43:01 AM
Hello community

I am a newbie to this forum but certainly not a new bie to life and understanding.

Going through this forum I must say I have been greatly impacted from the highest ranking to the lowest ranking. I have taking some knowledge regardless of the rank or status.

I woke of to meet this twisted post and I was perplexed to say the list.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5055497.0

The merit issue has many some get demented, obsessed and confused and this can only need to plagiarism, low esteem and wrong conclusion

There is certainly no place it is written that only legendary members or other higher ranking member would get a merit.  So to all those noobs feeling so pls that is a wrong perception.
This post right now will get merit if it was a legendary member that made it so will a newbie also get as well.
But it definitely lies on who get impacted on it.

You can't make negative post just because you have not been able to level up it's just not right before God and man. You don't know who's zeal you have crashed.

Try and go through thread, read a lot of books and videos about cryptocurrency work on your personal motivation and avoid being obsessed about the whole merit system.

There is no high rank members that is against newbies if not the newbies restrictions would have still been in place. Get your statistics right before you come with any allegation

191  Other / Meta / Re: Bias on giving merit, forum negativity and positivity to the newbies. on: October 23, 2018, 05:25:33 AM
Well I think the post is very much unhealthy and born out share misunderstanding. The forum is well organised in various aspect and that's includes the merit awarding system

There are various merit source that diligently award smerit  to good post.
I think the op has not worked hard enough and don't deserve to be rewarded.

Let it be known that once you get your act right and become constructive then and only then can you get rewarded
192  Other / Beginners & Help / There is always room for improvement on: October 22, 2018, 07:06:35 AM
No one was born to fail neither is there anyone that can't learn. Learning is a continuous process no matter the level or field you are.. We all are humans and we are prone to mistakes and we should not be shy to.

A huge number of people came here as complete novice and I am guessing most got cold feet and have up after the demotion.

But there is really nothing to learning what the forum and cryptocurrency entails. Firstly you have to bring out your time and be committed, do not be fazed by any challenges  there is always room for improvement.

When registering and was like a week old I observed that merit was the aim of so many. And the more you become merit oriented the more you lose it and don't even get merited.

You can just be simple and contribute to your knowledge capacity and get reward for it. The quest for immediate success can lead you into doing stuff that is against the rules for example plagiarism.

No one here will condemn you for being original and trying your best. Drop any ambiguous dreams or greed and just enjoy your stay here and I believe you will not regret it
193  Other / Beginners & Help / Understand the importance of privacy can help fight scammers on: October 21, 2018, 08:45:52 PM
The importance of privacy can not be overemphasized. Yes it's is hard or even to possibly for fraudsters to infiltrate you with out having the slight lead or hint about you.  We currently leaving in a global tech hub where technology is taken over. In as much as this is a good thing it's has it adverse effects

The process of doing transactions online has made things easier and faster although this is true it has also created an avenue for scammers. Most transcations that is done online requires you to submit some certain details about you be it know you customer or proof of residency. Well this material if sent to the wrong Hands can be detrimental so it's imperative to know who you sending such vital information to

Password and private key. This are like assess code into your stuffs. There are virtually few things you open online that doesn't require you have a password or a private key. Once you are careless with them the consequences are disastrous. Never for any reason give this information out to anyone.

Your personal device should be kept personal. No matter what your device is be it a laptop, desk top or palm top there should be a limit to the amount of intruders gaining access to it. You can set a password code to it

Limit the amount of people you accept on your account.
Be it social media accounts, bitcoin talk account e.t.c limitations to the amount of people that are your friends if possible only mutual friends. So many has been defraud by unknown personality they meet online.  Some Even send you some links that are virus that when click can hack most of your account

PS: the enemies will need information about you before they can stick don't give them that assess. Adopt  privacy oriented strategies
194  Other / Meta / Re: Unused smerits shouldn't be destroyed but sent to merit sources after 1 month. on: October 21, 2018, 04:18:58 PM
The merit system was made to reward a good work and article. I think is only right if you see and article that interest you and after you must have gone through it you can just merit it if you have smerit.

I think the community will grow if we can encourage a good work. Yes it's truth there are merit sources and they have really been active.  But as an individual we can all still contribute to the development it not only legendary members that has to give merit.
Even with 2merit you can be able to give out a merit
195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Malware posted on BitcoinTalk on: October 20, 2018, 09:08:15 PM
Well to be honest you must be very cautious in the cryptocurrency world. right now you have lost your fund.

Well you can bring up your evidence and table it to the right source but what can be done is to put a red trust on the person that duped you

Well your curiosity got the better of you and you lost your guard I hope you learn from this error. You can get a good anti virus system running on your device to prevent future occurance
196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Every loss is not a loss. on: October 20, 2018, 05:38:56 PM

198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchange Security Ratings and Ranking on: October 19, 2018, 03:15:04 PM
Even the top rated security exchanges fails to protect their customers. The lack of concern to the plight of customers after a theft has occurred on there platform is not acceptable
199  Other / Meta / Re: Data regarding the forum on: October 19, 2018, 02:54:43 PM
Well I don't know why it's so important to you.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3082289.0

You can go through this post and understand how more about merit and smerit distribution. But mind you if you out just for merit you might loose focus
200  Other / Meta / Re: Merit counts on "Top-merited recent topics" on: October 19, 2018, 02:49:17 PM
Going here: Top-merited recent topics shows the list of top merited recent topics.

Right now it only counts merit on the topic's opening post.

Should it not consider all posts in the topic? Seems to make more sense to me.

Otherwise maybe call it "Top merited recent topic starts" ?   Grin

It's best you just leave making post about merit you will never be merited for that

If you where are really interested in the growth of the forum and your self you would do the right thing and possibly get reward for it
