2. Masternode IP obfuscation will make the MN network basically invisible as well if done right.
When is this being built? What is the priority? Shouldn't the priority of this be higher than instantx? I agree it should be, but seems like the "flashier" instantx will be arriving first. Actually, I am worried that IP obfuscation is off the table as I haven't heard anything about it from Evan in months.  It's definitely not off the table. Actually, it's been replaced with a multi-path routing algorithm. It seems some of the Silk Road users are just putting their coins on an exchange, buying DRK to then anonymize, then buying back BTC. Well hopefully Silk Road will add a DRK payment option so those users don't have to jump through hoops and pay exchange fees just to be able to purchase anonymously.  |

So I'm trying to understand the issue with the darksend. Is the problem basically that people aren't anonymizing the coins in their open wallets? I am not doing that now, but I could be if it would help. I always have at least 1 wallet with less than 1k in it because it I don't have enough for another masternode yet, and I know i cant be alone in this.
Is there any downside for me leaving my wallet running with anonymization on?
Well... there is a small fee of 0.0125DRK per mixing round. So the downside is that your balance will decrease even if it is only by very little. It is up to you to decide if you value helping over the mixing cost. Also, your wallet must be unlocked at all times which posses somewhat of a greater risk compared to leaving your coins offline or even online but encrypted. |

Forget about touching the Masternode's 1000DRK. Not going to happen, ever. Not going to happen to mine, ever, that's for damn sure.
More people just need to click the big Anonymise button, that's all.
Then it seems like the idea of Darksend day is about the only real thing we could do as a community to bolster pairings, however, that doesn't solve lack of pairs on the remainder of the days. Dark Friday (or whatever) would be a good start - and it also might get more people into the habit generally.  Or a couple of scripted wallets managed by The Foundation, constantly anonymising. If dark markets start accepting DRK then problem solved, people will have more reason to use DS. I'm a bit disappointed that Anonymisation isn't on by default, I think that would have mostly solved the problem too. Well it takes fees and most consider compulsory taking of fees as stealing. On by default would have been off-putting to most people. That said, we do need to do SOMETHING. Basically a Darksend adoption bootstrapping phase of some sort is required. At this rate we will never get adoption if the main feature of the coin requires you to wait 4 days to see it work. My suggestion is a "bounty" mixing fund that Evan (or the foundation) maintains and is filled ever so often by the community. That can then be split into several wallets and left mixing. |

If thief is clever enough - he/she will convert all stolen coins in Darkcoin to anonymize I know it's not just me, but I haven't been able to darksend a single coin with RC5. I've tried every setting and amount possible. It's supposed to be fixed with the next release but still, it's not working for most people it seems. So people with 10k+ DRK can definitely forget about using it to anonymize anything. You are the first person I have seen post on these forums that Darksend(RC5 or later) doesn't work. Hell, it was even working for camo last time I checked. If you are have some specific issue then please post it on DTC (or even here) as I guess that someone knows how to solve it. It not, then at least Evan knows what he needs to fix. If you report nothing then Evan has no chance at fixing it. I will say that it is a known bug that a small number of coins <10 will not Darksend (fixed in the latest release on testnet). |

It seems to me like we have the same people defending increasing the current 20% MN payments and a much larger set of people against it. I have been a DRK supporter since early February and I haven't had this bad of a feeling about something Evan suggested since that airdrop idea he floated...
I still don't know why we don't give the currency several months to a year to grow organically before messing with the technicals. If DRK/fiat increases then MN's will become more profitable and their numbers will naturally increase. The current plan is heavy handed and may well be a disaster if too many people are pissed off.

As I have repeated over and over again, they are a proxy so you can disregard them as complying. That leaves X11LTC which isn't going to. We're down to 62% from a high point of around 68%. Flip. The. Switch. Didnt evan say that switch will be flipped if over 90% of pools are on rc5 or else 3 weeks after rc5 has been released? Do you guys mean he should speed up the 3 weeks thing? If so, isnt the 3 weeks thing part of the code? Or is it a physical action needed by evan? Evan is, above all, a human name. The correct grammatical usage is Evan. Secondly, Evan is the author of Darkcoin, but it doesn't look like you care. If you are turkish or similar black spot -- no worries, it's in your genes. My 45 DRK sits on cryptsy. I'd like to have them on a local wallet but I need ubuntu .deb package to install the wallet. I think I'll wait for the open source full release version, after that there should be official packages for major linux distros. I can download the sources and compile myself but with those fast new releases it'll take too muck time updating wallets.
Another question for the devs: will there be official packages like ubuntu, debian, redhat etc..? We need an easy way to install wallets on linux.

It may not be instant, but everything that involves sending coins (with includes anonymization) will be a order of magnitude faster. |

Unfortunately you're not going to get much love there - altcoins get downvoted to hell regardless of content. And it's hard to blame them - the fact is a majority of altcoins are essentially a scam. Darkcoin is one of a few if not the only that in my mind is not a scam or pump and dump or shitcoin or what have you. So I'm not quite sure how to change perception enough to even get people to read the paper before criticizing it - but as a community we probably should think/talk about it - because that will be our next growth hurdle: getting mainstream cryptocurrency attention as something more than a shitcoin. Change happens slowly. In 2009 Bitcoin was a "shitcoin scam" as well. First produce the tech, then push the PR, and then slowly people will look more closely and see how much DRK really has to offer. However for the time being, as you say, jumping right in r/bitcoin especially now that they are agitated over the recent dump is asking to get eating by one of those dinosaurs. |

Waht would happen to the consensus if someone took like a lot of money, and bougt online like 3000 mn that he/she/them controll ?
would this not be same sitation like the 51% attack on network hash ?
To do so would cost the attacker more money that the exploit would be worth. Lets not rule out the irrational nutcase trying to ruin DRK. Even then, if Vertoe couldn't get hold of 47K DRK without turning heads yesterday...how on earth is anybody going to get hold of 3m DRK? I am sure that for 50/drk there would be people seling. which is like 150 milion usd. Small play money for some. I am not fud ing... just simple honest question. There are less than 5 mil DRK in existence -- getting 2/3rds of owners to sell to one entity is unrealistic (and would push the price literately to the moon). That pie in the sky "attack vector" is not a reason to shy away from the MAJOR advantages of this system. Anybody else psyched for instant denomination? |
