181  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: September 22, 2015, 07:13:51 AM
A Filipino forum would be nice. Most Filipino companies aren't on bitcointalk at this moment, communication is mostly at the Bitcoin PH FB group and some at reddit. With a new forum they can probably join us.

I think there is enough things happening: lots of "bitcoin remittance" companies, meetings, Bitcoin Organization of the Philippines, etc. I think it would be cool to discuss these topics in depth, but for me that Filipino thread, Facebook and Reddit always just have a limited "time-limit" for discussions. An own forum allows longer and more in-depth discussions about everything that is happening in the Philippines related to bitcoin.

Probably a lot of discussions will be still in English, but it is not just about talking in Tagalog (or Cebuano etc.), it's also about having a forum for Filipino-related discussions.

(Ps, I am from NL but living in PH.)

Seems worth a rebump, a forum for money-remittance is one that resonates with the utility Bitcoin represents.
Having some of the business community from there join the forums and create discussion is beneficial to awareness and adoption of Bitcoin that could be measured.
Will support the measure as well as it provides an opportunity to test actual stats for the board.
182  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greek election results, Sep 2015 on: September 22, 2015, 07:08:44 AM

Pfff, I guess that in a few months there will be new Greek Elections...

Given the current climate I would not put it past them
Can't remember how many elections it's already been over the past few 5 years but that number is not a few.
183  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread sept 17th. to sept 30th Picks are open!! on: September 22, 2015, 06:54:39 AM
This is going to be a very active difficulty period, I bet we see swings that have a higher total range than any we've seen in a long time.

I can't imagine staying negative too long...

Neither can I, but it does make me wonder if this period or next will be the one to see a bump in the rate.
As it is looks like its starting off negative.
Still a while left in this round though Smiley

Played my round ended up at nil but the best of luck to the remaining players in the tourny
Should be fun to see who gets lucky ^^

If you are talking about ending up with no profit/loss, don't be disheartened.
People can win the tournament even with a loss.  Wink

It could be but t0pnotch has got one in the bag
Good luck to the challengers Tongue

Technically could start it but will wait for the official start beacon ^^ Exactly 300 blocks now.

This round will be interesting as it is possible to call high and be left hanging out to dry, or end low if the shipping is a bit later than usual or people have difficulty with setup, should be fun to see peoples picks this time.

188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Atlanta based Bitcoin giant BitPay hacked for nearly $2,000,000! on: September 17, 2015, 08:50:24 PM
can't blame the insurer for not wanting to cover for such incompetence (and can't say i've sided with an insurer before).

Because they are not dumber than a bag of rocks, while I don’t like insurers that much either, I really hope that they win this, st*pidity of this magnitude must be punished.

insurer says "we'll insure the security system you have in place on the BTC you hold"
security system gets compromised
insurer says "we meant the security system had to be flawless"

seems legit.

That is an insurance company for you
We will write the policy and as long as you never claim we will not have an issue, but the day you do claim we will see you in court.
Either that or the policy wasn't that old.
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Internet early stage on: September 17, 2015, 08:45:09 PM
Due to Bitcoin has received more venture capital investment than internet in its early stage ($362 vs $250), do you think this could be significant to say bitcoin will be totally success?

Yes, there is a way to measure this data although it is not well known
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-venture-capital/

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you can see that over the year so far venture capital is already 450 million dollars and it can be broken down by company reading through the list, last year was a huge year at 361.5 million which was a giant step from 2013 at 95 million and 2012 where it was 2.13 million, the multiplier is getting smaller but the amount of money in the system is still growing.

Ahmed gets to meet Obama now.
This should soothe things.  Smiley

I found that a bit interesting from the perspective
Build Homemade Clock and show to teacher
Huh?
Meet Obama
192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which presidential candidates are accepting bitcoin? on: September 17, 2015, 11:06:39 AM
^ Rand Paul and Gary Johnson accept bitcoin. Don't know if others do. Or if they do, if they even know what it is. And aren't just using it for the attention they can get from it. So don't vote for them or support them only based on that.

I didn't know about Gary Johnson, Rand Paul I was aware of due to his libertarian party leanings.
I would also appreciate a link to his page as well for info.

As for the rest I'm sure indirectly they could be accepting it but not directly.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: September 17, 2015, 11:02:53 AM
My first bitcoins came from Primedice signature campaign way back September 2014. From then on, I started to buy a little amount of btc every month and I have never failed to do so for the past 10 months.

How'd you get your first bitcoins (faucets aside) and what did you do to them?

Besides the forums giveaways and faucets my first Bitcoins came from an exchange
When it was still relatively easy to send a wire transfer and have the coins recieved the next day.

I kept them bought stuff and then sold a bunch, and got a few people interested in the idea / sold a few coins.
194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do Newbies (or Anyone) Enjoy Paid Bitcoin Tasks? on: September 17, 2015, 11:00:33 AM
As part of the research I'm undertaking for my soon-to-be launched faucet, I'd like to know:

Do you regularly visit PTC sites or task sites which pay out in Bitcoin?

Message me if you want some simple tasks to do!

When I was a newbie back in the day and visited faucets it was more to learn about bitcoin related services, so ads were neat or if I enjoyed it, such as watching videos/music in exchange for rewards
Bitcoinget would be an example of that model
So an interactive element would be good such as viewing videos, giving opinions etc.
195  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-09-17] Bitcoin Hash Rate Climbs to New Heights as Hardware Advances on: September 17, 2015, 10:56:13 AM
New miners will impact the hashrate that is for sure, also cooler temperatures that said I doubt we will see 1 Billion difficulty for a while yet.
Either way its starting to show an uptrend from the standard range so we may see difficulty starting to grow again soon.
196  Other / Archival / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? on: September 17, 2015, 10:53:40 AM
Dear Bitcoin Enthusiasts, my name is Gregor Volkmann, I am a german entrepreneur in cinema advertisements and currently planning a crowdfunding for advertising bitcoin in cinemas! I would like to know, what you think about my idea and whether I should start this campaign.

tl;dr: Bitcoin ads in cinemas for bitcoin purchaseable products from local, recently accepting stores. Free ad for accepting bitcoins.

What do you think of this planned campaign?

Beste Grüße, Gregor

I think this would be a good idea for double PR it gets people aware of local stores and Bitcoin at the same time the main question is how to get them started in using Bitcoin while advertising it such as a simple message like download the Blockchain wallet app available on Android today etc.

That said having a good estimate of costs to do it is a good step best of luck with your project and hopefully it gains some traction.
197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Atlanta based Bitcoin giant BitPay hacked for nearly $2,000,000! on: September 17, 2015, 10:49:17 AM
This reminds me of the Mt. Gox scandal that brought down the price of Bitcoin from $1000 to eventually where it is now. That, plus all of the controversy around BIP 101, I would say the price is going to be low for a while until things cool down.

Alas I'm in agreement with you on this one, Bitpay has filled in the role Gox has to an extent and more hacks on major exchanges just causes percieved insecurity in the system.
198  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: September 17, 2015, 10:42:40 AM
I recently returned to the forum and upgraded my phone and computer losing my previous accounts and passwords is there any chance of recovering them ?
on the first place be specific ,you use the word forum'? then why are you posting it here ?(meta).
secondly if you are asking for PD accounts then you can reset passwords with Email or via saved address in your account (if u ever saved it).

Also if you sent a signed transaction confirming that you own the account using an address the Bitcoins were sent to.
That said also was confused by Forum if your talking about a PD account you want to ask Stunna for a forum account its Theymos.
199  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 17, 2015, 10:37:03 AM
Will Fed hike the rate today? (I don't think so).

And will the outcome be relevant to bitcoin price? How?

Doubt it to much global insecurity right now

As for the impact to the Bitcoin price since I expect no change in the interest rate it should end up as a neutral outcome.
