181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: May 23, 2024, 01:35:29 AM
I hope the UFL comes back but the higher ups really need to make some changes when it comes to its schedule, even for highly motivated fans like us, it is very difficult to watch the games, the NFL can get away with their fans requiring several subscriptions to watch the games because it is the NFL, but the UFL cannot do this, also it is ridiculous how the UFL is incapable to repeat the same schedule from one week to the next, which has made me to miss many games, and so far with the season already ending I have been only able to watch three of them.

Agreed... I haven't been able to watch any games live at all. But they do upload the full games to YouTube sometimes. The other thing that makes it subpar compared to NFL for me is the lack of name recognition... I don't know any of these dudes, at all. They need to bring in failed NFL coulda-beens to spice things up, even as a marketing gimmick. Such as Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel, who is actually playing in the Canadian Football League (they probably pay better is why).

So what will happen to the forum's reserves if there is no continuous development? +500 Bitcoin is enough to make the forum better.

I may ask him about this soon.

Sure, I don't mind the idea of making the forum "better" so long as it doesn't change the look and layout. Why?, you may ask. Because when people come here to read satoshi's old posts, I think they would prefer to read them in the same format in which they were written. It lends more credence to the idea that they were actually his posts. For me, this is where the true value of the forum lies.

If anything, I think it would be neat to be able to design a mobile version of Simple Machines Forum from scratch, from the ground up. It is true that most internet traffic is mobile these days, and it ain't so easy to read the forum from a mobile device.

Oh, it looks like you are gearing up to apply for a sig campaign after all.

Very funny. Well times have changed. Seeing as how digaran was in a campaign for a while, maybe you can be too, though I wouldn't recommend you to any managers. Still, good luck.

Kind Regards

His feedback in negative.
That is trust abuse.

I suppose there's a case for that. But I wouldn't worry about it as he will never be on DT. I have a billion negative feedbacks and none of them mean anything.
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 22, 2024, 10:01:02 AM

Wat

I'm a Dogecoin Maxi (not really but) and even I have a hard time believing this. Sounds like a "sell the news" type event TBH; the news in this case being the rumor.
187  Economy / Reputation / Re: Rating Place Trust Abuse and attacks on: May 22, 2024, 09:09:51 AM
I asked Theymos to change my username since I have nothing to do with peepsplace and he was nice enough to do it.

10 years, over 3700 posts and my thread with over 250,000 views says it all. There would be negative trust from respected members if something were wrong. The untrusted feedback is also good.

I don't get it... You have nothing to do with "Peeps Place", yet you went by that name for 10 years, and you're taking credit for the thread started by an account named "Peeps Place"? Could be I'm just missing something.

The ratings aren’t paid for and I don’t ask for pay. I asked Theymos to change my username since I have nothing to do with peepsplace and he was nice enough to do it.

I see in Twitchy's feedback he says "I believe peeps actively requests payment from sites on his "#1 Ratings" list."... The link in the feedback points to a statement by DirectBet (which turned out to be one of the most honest sportsbooks crypto has ever seen) stating something a bit different: that you are getting paid for advertising sportsbooks rather than paid for ratings.

Regardless, I wouldn't worry about either feedback too much as they are just neutrals.

However, the people that we need to onboard (which, ideally is the whole world according to satoshi's vision), will not come to this place.

Here's the thing that most people don't realize: the forum doesn't need to do anything, except continue to exist.

Close to 15 years old now, the Bitcoin Forum is an SEO powerhouse that will continue to attract visitors and appear prominently in Google search rankings, forever.

So long as theymos continues paying the bills and keeping the lights on, the forum will remain the foremost repository for Bitcoin-related information; especially from a historical standpoint. Not to mention the plethora of luminaries and legends that have created accounts and posted here over the years.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Shitcoin 3.0 - First Parody Token on the First Parody Blockchain! on: May 22, 2024, 02:20:17 AM
I'll pay 10,000 SHITCOINs for a couple of pizzas.. maybe like 2 large ones so I have a lil left over for tomorrow.

I like weird fish toppings and stuff like that... anchovies, sardines, calamari rings, etc.
190  Economy / Reputation / Re: Request to remove negative trust. on: May 22, 2024, 01:14:38 AM
Let's get one thing straight first: you bought your account.

Second, I'm not for red tagging people who purchased accounts, but I'm not against it either. Opening a thread complaining about the situation is more likely to have the effect of gaining additional red tags than removing the one you currently have. No one is going to change their trust settings based on your complaint.

I know: you paid good money for this account and you hate to see it go to waste. I suggest to you instead to concentrate on ranking up your other accounts rather than restoring the reputation of this one.
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Rodarmor Rarity Index a big thing? on: May 22, 2024, 01:05:27 AM
Rodarmor wasn't "shouted down by haters", he was praised for his creativity and effort: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5430668

OK I got the order wrong. He left and was then shouted down by haters. There's at least half a dozen anti-ordinals thread out there. The idea caused some people here to have real conniptions, meltdowns, and spastic crying fits.

I am not as familiar with Runes. If I understand it correctly, it is not related to Ordinals. Instead, it is a token protocol that stores data in Bitcoin transactions via OP_RETURN. It might be interesting to compare it to CounterParty and Omni.

Runes is pretty much Counterparty - a bitcoin-based system for creation & transfer of fungible tokens - but unlike Counterparty, all image & other descriptive data is stored on the BTC blockchain.
192  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: May 21, 2024, 02:34:25 AM
Oh c'mon, not really.

Yes really.

What he has done is amazing and I truly miss him, I just don't believe that he was dying or is dead, in my mind he is alive, getting 150K USD annual salary and doing a happy life. He was the person who was truly valuing privacy and I believe he wouldn't reveal such a sensitive information if it was actually true.
The fact is, we will never 100% what is true and I want to make myself believe that he is alive and doing well. I didn't really want to upset anyone but I can't do anything with this thought and I wanted to be absolutely honest.

If you were right, the easier, more logical thing to do would have been to just disappear from the forum completely, without writing any sort of explanation for his disappearance.

The fact that he went to great lengths to explain his situation in his final thread - and the fact that he is/was regarded as one of the most honest, trustworthy members of the forum - leads me to believe he wasn't lying.

Compare his situation to DarkStar_'s, and note the difference in how they exited the forum.

Of course you're free to believe what you want, just as I'm free to point out that it is an absurd thing to believe.
193  Economy / Reputation / Re: QS - 10 years on the forum on: May 21, 2024, 02:16:50 AM
Yeah I'm surprised too. Any chance you can sign a message from one of your old bitcoin addresses?
I probably could if it was a big deal. Doing so would involve buying a power cable for an old MacBook, so it would take a few days if I needed to. Either way, I am not planning on doing any kind of business.

I was actually addressing a dude that posted in your thread -- seems he bought his account. FWIW I don't think you lost control of your account, and I don't think it would be hired in any campaign or taken seriously if you were to launch your own product/service, so its probably not worth much. Feel free to prove me wrong though, that would be an interesting feat.

I'm surprised me too achieved this milestone.

Yeah I'm surprised too. Any chance you can sign a message from one of your old bitcoin addresses?
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How has Satoshi's identity never been revealed ? on: May 21, 2024, 02:04:38 AM
How does it help if you know his identity?

The same way it helps knowing who killed JFK, and where Jimmy Hoffa's body is.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Rodarmor Rarity Index a big thing? on: May 21, 2024, 01:31:11 AM
Yes, it applies to Ordinals but not Runes AFAIK....

As a numeration system dependent on a protocol that exists independently of the Bitcoin Protocol, its as real as you want it to be. Some "rare sats" attached to inscriptions have sold for multiple thousands of dollars.

Some may say its arbitrary, and you will no doubt get the usual Ordinals Deniers coming into this thread saying none of it exists at all.

Personally I don't really care about the "rareness" of sats. There's already so much "value" being created on Bitcoin outside of its original protocol that collecting "rare sats" doesn't appeal to me. But if there's a market for them, and people find them valuable, you can't stop collectors/flippers from assigning value to them.

BTW Rodarmor refers to Casey Rodarmor, who came up with the whole Ordinals idea in the first place. He even announced it on this forum but was shouted down by haters, and then left.
196  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: May 20, 2024, 11:10:34 AM
I don't wanna be "that" guy but I think that o_e_l_e_o was here because of high pay rate and he left because of low pay rate and we lost a very amazing member because of that! o_e_l_e_o was a real asset (I know he said that he had an illness but I don't believe it, sorry but I love him, he will always be in my memory).

This is a stupid thing to say and you should be embarrassed about it.

I didn't actually know why he posted for so long without signature.

LOL. Its because he has a genuine passion for bitcoin. I know that idea is absurd to you, but people like him actually exist. For the first 4+ years of my Bitcointalk career I wasn't in a campaign either.

He changed his mind when one user made a post and from then he started participating in signature campaign to support one project so and from then he seem to like it the more.

If memory serves, he first participated in some kind of charity signature campaign; if not charity then it was for something that didn't pay. After that, he was probably approached by a manager with a really good deal, and I don't blame him for taking them up on the offer.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: May 20, 2024, 10:57:51 AM
Does it by chance include RedZone?

Yes, it does! RedZone is always an option during the regular season.

Does it use any IP or GPS location tracking (if so guessing a VPN can be used, or prob is required regardless)?

For most games they have 2 options: those with an IP inside the US and those outside the US.

Btw hows the picture quality?

Its great! It was good even for the one Thursday night game on... what was it... Peacock? that had all the streaming issues. It was fine.

Wait so it's $40 all in for the whole season?  That's insane given cable and the football package.

Yep, including playoffs and Super Bowl. With any luck it will still be around by mid August.

I have not been able to spend much time on the forum recently, certainly nowhere near as much time as I have in the past, and I am not sure I would remember to visit on my anniversary, so I figured I would create a thread today.

I'm willing to forgive and forget, but the first thing you could do to help that along would be to admit that PrimeNumber7 is your alt account.
199  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: May 20, 2024, 10:35:28 AM
How about Newbie GOODLUCK-HRM? He earned all his 19 Merit from Merit giveaways, and posts generic crap like this:
...

Not only generic, it also contain wrong information. Anyway, i've reported such posts and tagged that account for now. Maybe we could catch account spammer/farmer by looking on new account which join such merit giveaway.

Unfortunately you are correct: any time there is a merit giveaway or contest that results in merits, of any sort, you will get such accounts trying to abuse it. This person probably has 3-5 accounts they are running simultaneously on the forum. A dead giveaway of a fake newbie are posts like this one:

I am a new member in this forum. I came across this Beginners & Help post and made this post. Please help me with a proper guide line how I can get idea about this forum.

Someone announcing they are "new"... 95% of the time means they are not. I see the post in question has already been deleted. Most likely the account belongs to whoever controls these accounts:

Bitcointalk Account: GOODLUCK-HRM

200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver Arrested! on: May 18, 2024, 03:48:00 AM
Didn't they hire a bunch of new people in last few years to work for IRS?

Yes, they did.

They can always find someone who is living in different countries around the world and pay them much less to help them to arrest anyone they want.

No, they can't. You have to be a US citizen to be an IRS agent as they are government employees. Its not a call center or something. They work in tandem with law enforcement / government officials around the globe, and the US doesn't pay them for that. Like I said earlier, extradition treaties are a two-way street: if Spain requested a known criminal living in the US to be extradited, the US would help them with that as well.

No need to spend so much money for traveling as person being arrested is going to be held in foreign prison first

Its far more complicated than that.

like Roger is held in the same prison like John McAfee was... what a ''coincidence''.

Well they both went to Spain.
