181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 14, 2022, 05:21:11 PM
If we want to make assets safer, it is better to use a hardwallet such as Trezor, or Safepal Hardwallet.

Actually, I did check the Safepal HW list of supported coins just because I hadn't heard of Safepal before. It does look as though they support all of my assets, EXCEPT for Terra Luna, which currently makes up 52 % of my portfolio. So even though it looks promising, I am reluctant to use Safepal, as it has no support for my biggest asset. By the way, I did notice in their page that some coins only have the "Send / Receive " feature enabled, but not the "buy" or "swap". Does that mean I am unable to buy new tokens if I am using Safepal ? I thought the whole point of DeFi was so that we can buy or swap one kind of token for another ?

Using Ledger/Trezor doesn't necessarily mean that you cannot store whatever coins/token you are planning to buy.

These two hardware wallets can be used in conjunction with Metamask on your preferred web browser (I recommend Firefox), allowing the HW to generate a seed for you without it leaving the hardware wallet, rather than using the Metamask extension, which stores the seed somewhere in your /laptop. This is why using a hardware wallet in conjunction with Metamask is the most secure way to keep your cryptocurrency.

Good point. By the way, I do have a Trezor, it does work like the Ledger device, and I got my seedphrase sorted already. So why won't I use it with MetaMask then ? Because just like Ledger, you need it to support the coin you are putting on the wallet or staking. Ledger Live only works with supported coins too. So what do you do if your coin is not supported ? I don't see how having a hardware wallet helps me there unfortunately. Several of my coins are not supported by either Ledger or Trezor, so I will just use the MetaMask wallet.

Okay, thanks people ! I'm going to try Chrome or Firefox based on your feedback here. I will educate myself on browser security some more as well, as I've never really used MetaMask before. I have only used PayPal, and already got some scammer contacting me through e-mail about my PayPal account. They claimed to be from PayPal ( had proper logo and looked legit ) but when I followed through ( not clicking on their fake links of course ) I confirmed they were try to scam me. Incidentally I also got someone trying to scam me through facebook, told me about some amazing DeFi project that turned out to be a scam. No, i didn't invest in it, I'm fairly thorough with my research and nothing gets past me.

I wish I could use a hardware wallet but as I said, I've checked all of them out, they only support some of my coins. Now that I will try DeFi, I will get even more exotic coins that nobody's ever heard of so zero confidence in hardware wallets.

I'm keen on Brave too ! Unfortunately, since it's supposed to be the most secure and private browser I've been using it for porno for the past few months, so now I don't trust it at all ! LOL  I clear history after every session of course, and run an Anti Virus scan, but I'm afraid I still don't trust it !
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 12, 2022, 09:41:58 PM
One more thing I should add, my crypto is currently in a centralized exchange. I have a mix of popular coins ( Solana, Avalanche, Matic, Terra, Sandbox, Helium ) and lesser known coins ( ie. Ramp, Band, Illuvium ) amongst others. All of the wallets I've looked into ( Trezor, Ledger, Trust, Exodus, Ellipal ) have several missing FROM EACH CATEGORY !! WTF !!  So Centralized exchange for me. But lately I've realized I can't do any staking or DeFi so I am forced to make the move to MetaMask. I've been educating myself on safety precautions for about a week now, so I feel the risk is low.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 12, 2022, 09:34:42 PM

To be honest, I would advise against using browser wallets at all. I'm not a security specialist, but even if the wallet is safe, every browser has vulnerabilities. If something happens, you'll never know what really caused your funds to disappear. I recommend Trust Wallet for mobile much more.

As I said I've looked into all major hardware wallets and they only have "some" of my coins. Same thing with Trust Wallet. Besides that, I would never trust a mobile device with my crypto. Too easy to have it stolen. And even if it's not stolen, easy for others to see you're doing something crypto related, and suddenly , you become a target.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 12, 2022, 07:06:36 PM
Thanks, I'm using a laptop. I'm especially careful with social media sites like Facebook and YouTube as they are fairly aggressive at tracking your activities online. Not even going near TikTok or Discord as they have links to the CCP and apparently use even more sophisticated ways to track everything you do online, even the things you type on your keyboard and things related to your identity. And of course I don't have any crypto related apps on my phone either, I only use the computer.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 12, 2022, 06:48:14 PM
I plan to store most of my Altcoins in MetaMask by the way, that's why I need to be super careful. Yes i've looked into Exodus, Trezor and Ledger wallets, none of them support my coins, even Ellipal. Yes they do support "some" of my coins, but WTF do I do with "some" ? I need ALL my coins to be supported ! So MetaMask the only choice left I'm afraid.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Safest browser for Metamask ? on: April 12, 2022, 06:45:26 PM
Firefox ? Chrome ? Brave ?

Kinda worried because all of them try to collect information about your activities online. I've purchased BitDefender AntiVirus, and taken some other precautions but... can never be too careful as they say.
190  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoin is enough? on: April 12, 2022, 06:23:08 PM
I believe there is a high probability Bitcoin may not ever get to a million dollars. The underlying technology ( blockchain ) is a little complicated and too clever for the average person to understand. Sure, if you're under 35, but the current demographics suggest that older people will become a huge segment of the population in the near future. And have you noticed they still use coins and VHS-tape recorders ?
I do see Bitcoin doing a 10X from where it is now though.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any reason to use Terra Station Wallet ? on: April 07, 2022, 06:12:35 PM
Can I put other coins on the Terra Station Wallet ? ie. Solana, Avalanche, Ethereum ?
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is there any reason to use Terra Station Wallet ? on: April 07, 2022, 05:29:42 PM
Other than to stake Terra Luna or UST  ? Okay, I can think of another reason: to try to Arbitrage your Luna, but other than that, would there be a reason to put my Solana or my Avalanche in the Terra Station Wallet ? ( Can you even put other coins ? )One thing it has over other wallets is the credibility behind it I guess, Terra Luna is one of the biggest projects in the crypto space...
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Voyager, Block-Fi and Celsius in trouble - could this send LUNA even higher ?? on: April 02, 2022, 09:03:15 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOGyExO2V10

Not sure if I'm reading it wrong but these are all Terra Luna's competitors. Could that be part of the reason why Luna is going higher and higher ? I know if I was looking to make some passive income I'd be more inclined to put my stable coins into Terra's ecosystem now...
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pancake Swap or Sushi Swap ? on: March 30, 2022, 03:12:14 PM
Top Revenue earners in crypto ( blockchains and Dapps ) shows PancakeSwap beating SushiSwap

195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pancake Swap or Sushi Swap ? on: March 29, 2022, 06:52:00 PM
To anyone who's already tried it... is AutoCake still a good way to make passive income or are there other better options now? I think RAMP has a pretty attractive offering although a bit different than AutoCake
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pancake Swap or Sushi Swap ? on: March 29, 2022, 06:12:20 PM
Which of these two has a better chance to moon ? Sushi is probably the 2nd or 3rd most popular DEX but Pancake Swap was amongst the highest revenue earners in all of crypto for most of last year ( I think it might still be ). I'm leaning towards Pancake Swap because the AutoCake feature is something I would personally use. It's also it has over a million and a half twitter followers !
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ZCash vs Monero on: March 20, 2022, 09:13:41 AM
I've noticed ZCash is doing rather well lately, and my centralized exchange supports it however... I still wish I could buy Monero instead. Regardless of the token potential ( I mean, even Dogecoin can make you money right ? ) I'm more interested in the utility of the token. As far as privacy and anonimity, Monero has long been regarded as the leader in this space... I wonder if ZCash provides a sufficiently good alternative ? I've heard it doesn't have the privacy options by default, and most people don't use them, whereas with Monero , most users appreciate and use these features. ZCash users on the other hand are even discouraged from using them ? ( that's what I've heard ). So is ZCash even worth considering ?
198  Economy / Trading Discussion / How do you check the 200 day moving average ? on: March 20, 2022, 08:55:24 AM
I've been trading for over a year and I just realized I never look at this particular indicator.
I base my trading choices on comparisons and analysis of CoinGecko's limited charts and numbers, mostly 7d, 14d, 30d, 90d, 180d and even the 1 year graph. I guess the 180d view is the closest I have to the 200d moving average ? Although by looking at the 180d I only see the overall graph, to get an idea of the bigger picture, and the token's price decline or increase over time. This has proven to be quite a good strategy for me , but of course I'd like to get better. In particular at understanding the 200 day moving average indicator when the market is at the verge of a major crash.
So what site do you guys recommend ? CoinGecko doesn't have this indicator, or any other I don't think, it's not a very good place for indicators and technical analysis I guess.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: None of the private wallets support my coins !! on: January 10, 2022, 08:39:11 PM
So if I don't do any yield farming, staking, etc. and just keep my tokens in the MetaMask Wallet, there's no risk of my wallet getting hacked ??
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: None of the private wallets support my coins !! on: January 10, 2022, 05:50:16 PM
I could of course use 7 different private wallets for different tokens ( as none of them offer full support ),
but imagine keeping track of all those seedphrases and passwords ! Guaranteed to lose some in the process !! And I think history has taught us that most people that lost their Bitcoin lost it because they forgot the seedphrase or password, or they forgot where they put it and locked themselves out of their account !
