Updated database code in p2pool. Was opening and closing database connection every time a share was submitted. Now connection stays and cursor stays open. Hopefully will increase performance.

Someone sent me a PM and asked why I would do this if I didn't make a profit.  I guess the only reason some people do things is for money.

By the way, anyone want to donate a vps in europe to increase p2pmining's reach? I've heard we don't have a very good ping time from over seas.

Is there something wrong with the Devcoin payouts? I'm at almost 4,000 confirmed DVC and haven't gotten any payouts in a while.

Transaction fees are about 6 DVC per payout. Ran out of DVC in pool wallet.  I transfered some DVC to the pool wallet to cover the deficit. 6 DVC will now be deducted from each payout to cover transaction fees.

It takes 24 hrs to reach full mining potential because reward is distributed based on shares submitted in the past 24 hours.  Mine for at least a week before making any decision to account for variance.

Does the pool still use the standard p2pool PPLNS?

Also where is this server located now?

sub 40ms ping times from Arizona
sub 50ms ping times from California

P2pmining PPLNS is set up to distribute the reward from p2pool prportionally to shares submitted in the last 24 hours.

P2pool PPLNS is a little more complicated. Here what is stated in the wiki https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool

Quote
Each share contains a generation transaction that pays to the previous n shares, where n is the number of shares whose total work is equal to 3 times the average work required to solve a block, or 8640 (= 24 hours of shares), whichever is smaller. Payouts are weighted based on the amount of work each share took to solve, which is proportional to the p2pool difficulty at that time.

So p2pmining pays PPLNS based on the reward of another PPLNS. Can any one figure out ramifications of this system?

By the way, I have no idea where the server is. vedalken254 would need to answer that.

When I say mining operations offer real, stable returns, I mean return of bitcoin on bitcoins invested regardless of what it is worth in fiat.  That is how Pyramining works.

Pyramining says they use your deposit to buy Xilinx FPGA's. The amount of FPGA's bought depends on the price of coin. That's one factor which makes consistent, stable returns impossible. Future difficulty changes are another.

Do you have any evidence that Pyramining isn't an honest operation?  I'd like to hear it if you do...

Yes, there is a pronounced evidence of absence
  • No pictures of custom FPGA rigs
  • No records of earnings from pools
  • Apparently anonymous operator

I have seen pictures of their mining hardware.  If you ask, and you have bitcoin invested with them, they will send you a link so that you can see pictures of their hardware.

No rewards for the 9/9/12?  Cry

Something wrong?

Yeah. That has happened before. That block also shows that it only paid out the reward to four addresses when a p2pool block pays out the reward to about 200 addresses.

p2pool.info is reporting a erroneous block.

A small miner would be less than 1 gh/s

Just out of curiosity, what's the share difficulty set at? At first it looked like it was 2, but now it's looking to be more like 4. It's not a problem for me; I think my setup would be fine with 8 actually.

If you don't specify difficulty, then the difficulty changes based on p2pmining hashrate.  If you want difficulty 1, then add +1 to the end of you bitcoin address/username. +2 would be difficulty 2 shares and so on and so forth. I have some miners on +2 and some on +4. All mining to the same address.

The current dynamic difficulty is at 3.6955 (changes constantly). This may cause problems with some miners, so I suggest you always specify a difficulty. Small miners should specify +1.

Jaycoin,

Some feature suggestions for you since I know nothing about php coding: Merged Mining Unpaid Rewards data for miner pages and an extra field on the blocks with a cron job to check for orphan blocks and mark them as such on the website or remove the orphan blocks from view.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Veddy

Orphans are now marked and current unpaid merged mining rewards are also displayed.

Keep the ideas coming   Cheesy

P2Pmining.com found BLOCK 197723  Grin

From p2pool log file:

2012-09-07 11:09:59.727664 GOT BLOCK FROM MINER! Passing to bitcoind! http://blockexplorer/block/000000000000055c0dd63dc81887dea12385173d9bbe97f7b5cb109b9357396c

Ah, that could be it since both of these appear to have been Sept. 5. Transaction IDs I have are:
0e551b4056440e2b5f64ca000b8deb504a1757793eba3fab65f1ac0199ddae6e

Yes, I dropped the minimum for payout to 0 so anyone who mined bitcoin during testing would get paid before I started the new wallets.

By the way, vedalken254 is supplying the server to run p2pmining.com

Big thanks to him.

Will the block finding bonus be shared to the pool members? I don't remember if that was ever asked.

Yes. The block finding bonus does get distributed to pool members.

Testing is completed.  Start date set for 9/7/2012.  This is to let all the blocks mined during testing to get paid. I then will start new wallets and clear the databases.  Yeah!!!  Cheesy

Few questions:

Where your servers VPS?

Who hosted your servers?
