$500 -> Dwolla: $.25 $500 Dwolla -> MtGox: $.25 $500 MtGox -> X BTC: $2.75 XBTC -> International recipient XBTC: less than a penny XBTC -> MtGox $500: $2.75 $500 MtGox -> Dwolla: $.25 Dwolla -> $500: $.25 Total cost: $6.50 ATM fee if withdrawing cash: $2.00 (if not using your bank ATM) New Total: $8.50 (if not using your own bank ATM)
And that is international transfer, and the recipient can cash out in their own currency and not pay extra for currency exchange. And a bigger bonus...they could just keep it in Bitcoins and spend it.
This example is contrived and is not really possible as there is no Dwolla outside the US. If there were is would just be a (Bank -> Dwolla -> Dwolla -> Bank) transfer for $0.75 total. In many places outside the US it is still difficult to convert BTC back to local currency.

By then transaction fees will most likely be higher. If there are too many transactions not all of them will get mine into the blockchain immediately. People will add more fees to their transactions to entice miners to include theirs quicker.
That is how it is supposed to work when there is no more block reward. It will supposedly be marginally profitable as a whole.

WELL I CAN TELL U DEFINATLY WHO DOSENT HAVE AN ASIC:
BFL
OTHER THEN THOSE GUYS AND THERE PREORDER CROWD FUNDING GUYS
WHAT? YELL INTO MY GOOD EAR. I CAN'T QUITE HEAR YOU!!! MAYBE HE IS A COBOL PROGRAMMER? OR MAYBE A FORTRAN IV PROGRAMMER. FORTRAN 77 and later allows mixed case so it can't be that.

Is port 80 available on stratum or only on getwork?

Why bother posting the link? Judging from their posting history, some people on this thread probably even deny the existence of the Custom Hardware sub-forum.

2 units delivered and running Location: US Order: 168
I was called by DHL a day in advance. Today, DHL reported the delivery as attempted/failed, which scared me as I would have to wait until Monday. When I went to the apartment office to ask them what happened, THE BOXES WERE THERE!
Was this the order with the incorrect canceled status?

Regarding install of extra fans. Could you install extra devices to this that do not use the PSU inside the Avalon, but actually use a separate customized modual that you install them to the Avalon unit in places to add extra air flow intake and airflow out???
I believe what he is saying is that installing extra fans at the back to push out the air will starve some of the airflow through the PSU causing it to overheat. The PSU sucks air from inside the case so setting up the classic push-pull configuration is not necessarily better.

How about buying CPUs, motherboards and RAM that use less watts in the first place?
The scope of this project seems artificially constrained right from the start. You just want to do stuff that interests you without exploring more practical alternatives.

What do you care for an FCC certificate, your Avalon won't have one? Gonna refuse it now?
These ASIC devices would be unintentional radiators and with all probability would easily pass certification on a technical level. The bigger concern to me is that a competitor, troublemaker or some FUDge-packing FUDster might complain about a lack of certification and get my ASIC shipment delayed or confiscated.

Those are dual FPGA boards from their last series and she's not making them, she's from BFL's quality control department. She's actually checking them over and checking for functionality.
I remember the original picture on the BFL site labeled something like "QC ninja", but it actually looks like she is manually re-working them.

No, mining could be made illegal but it will never be shut down as long as doing it is worth something. Since when has making something illegal stopped people from doing it if people really wanted to?

Did Yochdog already visit BFL?
Who? They guy who plays Will Ferrell ..

I can't be bothered with load balancing. That is why I always get a single-rail supply. Why don't you?

Yeah, you can mine with Stratum over your mobile connection without any significant loss of BTC due to network lag. You also won't run up an overage with your wireless carrier because the bandwidth is so small.

People will start mining with nVidia Teslas and old ATI cards purchased on eBay.

110 / 130 nm gate size can hardly be considered "technology of 2005" since many many companies still use that size today. It all comes down to the complexity of the device you are making and the cost to fabricate it.
Question: Does process node == gate size? I took some VLSI courses as an undergrad (a long time back) and from my understanding they are not the same thing.

Are you all BLIND??? take a look of 5min comparing the two pics, it is the same board 1on1, only the jally board is less mounted en turned 90degree look at it it is the same board man...it is fake as hel, the jally is the one with a day less work on it even the big chip has the same spot triangel on it...
You moron. The triangle is the "A" in Atmel. They are using an Atmel microcontroller, for crying out loud. Edit: Sorry if this was supposed to be satrical.
