For ethereum to be $2k, bitcoin should be $20k clearly. Without this happen, ether cannot hit those high prices. Ethereum has many competitors now. But bitcoin is unique. I expect ether to be $500 in early 2018. Yeah $2k is too high to expect from Ethereum and I would be satisfied even if it touches the price of $1k in next year and that is surely possible to achieve looking the volume and popularity but my more focus would be to invest more only in bitcoins. The reason was not causing by the demand but the update will make the ethereum will worth a lot in the future, There is no generate machine again to the ethereum, miners will never dump ethereum again and i think that was the good reason to the ethereum worth a lot. |

i am wondering what are the differences between presale we see that often and an ICO. why do companies run a presale mostly with higher benefits compared to the following ICO? do investors have to stick to some kind of conditions afterwards? (hold at least for x month?) i dont assume that because ppl sometimes gather, group up to collect the minimum needed in a certain presale and participate. so what is so special about presale?

the fork in general is a very bad thing in my opinion. first of all it is changing ETH fundamentally and that is always bringing unexpected things which are not good. on top of it, this fork will make the rich super rich. meaning the devs who hold 72 million premined coins will become super rich by staking their coins and doing absolutely nothing. in other words ethereum will become less and less fair every day. I know it's technically an altcoin, so I donno if this is the right forum section (please tell me the right one if not) but it's a fork, not something completely separate so I hope this is OK.
Alright here's the situation, I am a long-time, but not very active Bitcoin user. I've always used good old bitcoin-qt. So I've got a little bitcoin in that, right? And now I hear that I automatically have Bitcoin Cash too, without even knowing (score! I guess?) but I'm not sure how to make use of it. I look at bitcoincash.org (horrible website, by the way, entirely made of javascript) and check out the list of supporting clients. One is a special version of Bitcoin Classic, so the same old interface I'm used to. I intend to go with that unless someone knows a good reason to do otherwise.
With that out of the way, I've got a couple questions:
1. Would most people consider that client trustworthy? Is it OK to let it directly access a copy of my regular wallet?
2. To avoid having to downloading ~140GB of blocks all over again, can I copy the blocks and chainstate folders from my regular client? Or will it get confused if that contains blocks passed the split date?
