Using the latest version of youtube-dl I managed to download the video with ./youtube-dl -t http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/video/2013/apr/26/bitcoin-currency-moves-offline-berlin-video Great! ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) No more needing Google Chrome for Adobe Flash. Seriously? How can you call something a wiki that is not a wiki ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Do you think Wikipedia demands of its contributors to send them paypal donations to register or to contribute? I find en.bitcoin.it highly controversial since to contribute one must pay some amount of Bitcoins before contributing. A few architects that know best(those who donate Bitcoins) that maintain the wiki. See Cathedral and the Bazaar by Eric S. Raymond. Calling en.bitcoin.it a "wiki" is just a sad lie. Wikipedia nor OpenStreetMap can hardly be compared to something that ain't a wiki. I wish you good luck on your "project" but I would never call it a wiki, at least not in the category of wikis in the class of Wikipedia.

Do these people even read what they write before hitting the publish button?
They are upset that nobody wants to help them understand Bitcoin so that's why they write these articles, to get attention.

Bitcoin, according to its website, is a digital, encrypted currency Should I be made to believe that Bitcoin uses encryption? Then how would we be able to have access to the blockchain if it was encrypted ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) They must have read somewhere that it is possible to encrypt one's wallet for extra protection against people having access to one's computer or viruses or Trojans attempting to steal one's Bitcoins. Journalists who can't tell the difference between encryption and cryptography need to learn!!

I offered an open source game dev the Steam price of Aquaria + 0.5*Aquaria ~15€ in BTC and by my willingness to pay in Bitcoin I got the game as a gift on Steam from a game dev that had worked on the game!! ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) Totally unexpected in every way. I was told that my enthusiasm was appreciated and that I can keep the Bitcoins that I offered. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I'm going to try to spend this on opengameart gifting libre art just as Aquaria was gifted to me: " The gift that keeps on giving" ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) What I want to say is that if you are really willing to pay a game dev in Bitcoin, they may actually give you a response that you did not expect. I am not saying you are going to get games for free since I doubt this happens often or anything, but also know that HumbleBundle gives games to some people. Next time I'm going to ask HumbleBundle inc. if I could be given the games, as I'm willing to pay more than even the linux average on Steam if Bitcoin was accepted as a donation. It is worth a try! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I'm happy today, and I've just started playing Aquaria! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Not only the journalists know little to nothing about Bitcoin many times, spreading misinformation but also Bitcoin supporters themselves may know very little about it. This is not uncommon.
Like I don't think all Bitcoin supporters understand exactly what a block is and all its functions or how exactly BTC are transferred form person to person, or should I say from person to blockchain? The good thing though is that if they want to learn they have the possibility and I and many more are willing to help.
I mean even our videos promoting Bitcoin say "person to person". Is it then strange that people then may believe it really is from person to person and not from person to blockchain?

An extra sign showing my diplomacy sucks ass was when I replied on freenode.net #minetest to: tell me, who actually created bitcoin? cuz we still dont know lol Julian Assange. Why? Well a stupid question deserves a stupid answer ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Even though I was pretty heavily "undiplomatical", somehow I like my reply. They were mostly just spreading FUD about Bitcoin... One thing I did to was contacting the main dev Adam of minetest, since I'm interested what he thinks about Bitcoin, is it really that really evil thing that scares children? Or is it that good thing that can make a good change for a better world? Well, I may see what the main dev's view is on that one after I get my reply ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

minetest is like an open source version of minecraft. I talked to the devs today on IRC, cause they have a donation page on their site and I wondered if they accept Bitcoin. One that seemed most "knowledgeable" about Bitcoin really didn't understand even what a digital signature is or how it can be used. I really think that a huge number of programmers and geeks are just totally 100% ignorant about Bitcoin's technologies. They may be good at programming minetest but that doesn't automatically make them knowledgeable about Cryptography or Proof of Work, not even checksums. I don't think I lost my time there. I explained the reasons why Bitcoin in itself is NOT a scam, some positive stuff about Bitcoin. What there is that gives Bitcoin its value. How the fees are totally optional according to the Bitcoin protocol. Well, guess what I did get as a reply? At worst "Bitcoin OMG ponzi ponzi" and at best "I think I understand a little about Bitcoin but not much". So minetest developers do not want Bitcoin. I was about to offer 1 USD of BTC as thx for somebody fixing a bug that I got, but they'll receive my thanks. So minetest devs thanks. Also my donation to you was me informing you about Bitcoin and debunking myths found on your #minetest IRC channel. So informing you about Bitcoin I take as my way of donating. Thanks for a great game and thanks VanessaE, and Exio(for fixing the bug) for your patience helping me out and working around the bug! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

This is pretty serious so I post it here: I've contacted Jay Watts, an Independent Game Developer who created Solar 2. He told me he is not into Bitcoins and that he was vexed by my donation of 0.01 USD to the Humble Bundle and suggested that next time I better steal the games rather than buy them. I told him that if he's interested in Bitcoin I also offered him about 0.12 BTC which is worth about 14 USD. That's about 4 USD more than the average linux donation to the bundle. The good news is if he wasn't interested in Bitcoin anyway I'll save my 0.12 which is good ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) If he accepts them, well then it will also work fine as a big thanks cause I enjoyed Solar 2. In the end his loss if he doesn't want them ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days. Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic. I have actually used the services by Andrew Buck so that's the reason I'm waking this thread up from the dead to express what I think. This is a sample, quick link http://osm.org/go/xbydY_uWH- ,: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fsnag.gy%2Fy3aQN.jpg&t=663&c=CDluYT0XE5urRQ) The work done are the buildings. I offered ~0.01(that was the conversion rate that was close to 1$ USD) BTC for this, and I liked the result. That's about it. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Months later; what is the feeling about Bitfloor now? I use Bitfloor, but my money never stays on the exchange for more than the few minutes it takes between when the LocalTill deposit clears, I execute a market order, and withdraw bitcoins to my own wallet. Yep! Being on the safe side that is! I like your style! ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

You can actually post it in the news in the Press section.

Check the 4th paragraph: Bitcoin, and digital money in general, are made up of a bit-string that carries value and identity intrinsically – just via the sequence of the bits, independent of any media these bits are expressed in. The author simply read the name Bit and coin and thought "hey, I've heard about bits before, they are used in computers in some way". This sounds to me like the author tries to say the Bitcoin is "Bits are used in coins", with other words 100% ignorance or 100% lack of interest in finding out what Bitcoin is or what it isn't. Not worth your read... ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Apologies, too keen, noted.
It's still possible to edit the post and add the full title. That's what is great about bitcointalk that almost every post is possible to edit.
