So, has anyone managed to contact the owner of this domain? I've noticed its registration has been renewed very recently!!!

Yes, I wrote above I recovered the password and I'll send half of the amount to the address in the original post once the poster proves it is still correct. did you write some script to bruteforce electrum passwords? It is not an Electrum password, it is an AES encryption with a easy password set What do you mean by "easy password set"?

Great question, I've been wondering that too.

Given that humans are pretty bad at making random passwords, I'm guessing brainwallet collisions are bound to happen. Anyone knows or can estimate how often it happpens?

You don't have to use MultiBit. Go to www.bitaddress.org, generate a few paper wallets, print them out and keep them in a safe place. Split your funds between them and then import private keys one by one when you need to spend your coins. This is possible with multibit but it's easier with blockchain.info's wallet, Electrum and Armory. I'd stay very far away from MultiBit at this point. It requires Java, doesn't have deterministic wallets and has a nasty coin-eating bug that bit me and others. Smart users usually choose Armory or Electrum.

I'm on Windows 7 too, and for the last few versions I've had more success with flatfly's standalone build (see the dedicated thread). And it's open source as well now, so I highly recommend it.

<Facepalm> Of all clients, are you seriously pushing new, unsuspecting users to Multibit, which relies on Java, has coin-eating bugs and lacks wallet encryption?
According to the 1.7 release notes, Electrum now does Armory-style offline transactions.

Seriously, what are the reasons that some ppl consider litecoin is not a good thing?

Even if the odds are small, it's a cool app anyway! Makes you dream
Does that work on 64-bit windows?
Yeah, having debug mode ON in a final release sure doesn't look good. Can we expect this version to be reliable with real money use?

Have you scanned your computer for malware? That's the first thing I thought of when I read this thread.

Hmmm... Whatever you do - DON'T GO NEAR INSTAWALLET..!!! I had 260 bitcoin STOLEN from there..!!! That's in excess of $12,000
Strange how that can happen when it's a one time url and only myself and instawallet have access to it. But what do I know...
Ouch... And it seems you're not the only one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150724.0I'm sorry for you and hope you'll somehow be able to recover them / find the thief.

Yes, but it is also a joke: Finding the keys to an address will take you 20 times the age of the universe.
Unless there are undisclosed flaws in bitcoin addresses?

This sucks hard. Have you contacted the developer? Has the bug been fixed?
Reinstall, and restore from seed? (Just a guess, never had this problem personally)
It's supposed to be real-time. It sure is real-time for me.
Perhaps you've got an old version?
