181  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where the F*%^ did my BTC go? on: March 17, 2021, 03:54:28 PM
There's no reliable way to know all the wallet that belongs a certain exchange site but wallet explorer mentioned earlier can only provide information about old cold storage wallet belong to an exchange site, you can try it out if you're lucky cause to totally know the wallet that belongs to an exchange site require multiple steps or hire chain analysis or CipherTrace.

I think British Virgin Islands, Zimbabwe and Liberland could be the best place part with sovereignty.

Yeah, the British Virgin Island would immediately part with sovereignty, I wonder what the UK thinks of this, I remember something about Falklands.. Wink
Zimbabwe? The country that turned a blind eye on white farmers getting killed and robbed just because they had more money and they were white? Imagine putting a town full of rich white guys next to this one, what will be the outcome?
Liberland, just lol!
The UK viewpoint on British Virgin Islands part with sovereignty don't count since they Virgin Island government are perform through representative democracy, parliamentary system and constitutional monarchy.
I'm aware of what you said about Zimbabwe, that's a cruel habit that will affect their future international relations.
183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin back to $ 10,000? on: March 15, 2021, 10:33:09 PM
What threshold will bitcoin go down this year?
Tomorrow are not promised and it hard to predict what the price of Bitcoin will be before the end of this year but I expect market blood bath between 1 or 2 weeks of the last month of this year. I spite that, it still hard to tell if the bottom price will be $10,000 but that chance for it to dump to the $10K price range is slim.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin/Crypto Carbon Tax? on: March 15, 2021, 03:38:04 PM
Who thinks that multiple countries will end up imposing a carbon tax on crytocurrency owners & miners? If this is done, what would happen to the price of BTC? Do you think bitcoin would make changes to adapt (like ending mining sooner than 2140)?

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-01-26/is-bitcoin-mining-worth-the-environmental-cost
After the institutions and some private joined the cryptocurrency investment I have the feeling that sooner or later a lot of countries will impose a tax on cryptocurrency owners and miners but I don't see any reason for the implementation of multiple taxes not to talk about the carbon tax afterall crypto miners use electricity, not gas or fluid that will discharge carbon dioxide.
Having said that, our own opinion doesn't count in the government decision but if any case such tax is developed it won't affect the price of Bitcoin but the will be increasing in transaction fees.

Would Bitcoin be secure with fewer miners?
Yes. In fact, we have the LN.
185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie here - need to understand how it works for my purposes on: March 15, 2021, 02:56:25 PM
Hi all.
Don't know if this is the right place to post - if not, just let me know.

I'm pretty new to all this and I'd like to understand some of this crypto-currencies thing...

Please help me here... -->

I have a wallet and I'd like to put some BTCs (or other crypto-currency) in it. My biggest concern is the fees and when/where they apply.
If I go to an ATM and I feed it with physical money to get my crypto-currency, do I have to pay some fees?
Buying cryptocurrency using the Bitcoin ATM is not advisable because the operators usually charge high fee than a cryptocurrency exchange. I will advise you to buy through the Binance p2p exchange or on this forum. However, you also need to use a secure wallet and how to keep your Bitcoin safe so I will advise you to use a recommended wallet like Electrum and verify it if you're downloading a desktop extension or you hardware wallet like ledger but you need to buy it from the official retailers.

Would I use my crypto-currency to buy something online (same currency), are there any fees being applied?

Thanks for your help.
F.

Yes, you can use the crypto to shop online using a store like an overstock and others that support crypto payment but a transfer fee will be applied/ Only an on-chain transaction requires an almost free fee.
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc will be 120000 USD maximum this 2021 on: March 15, 2021, 12:47:23 PM
Although Bitcoin is a speculative product, its price prediction shouldn't be analyzed mathematically or using the current positive price momentum of the market which can switch anytime for no reason. The last time I checked the major price predicted by most price analyzers is $100K and it will be nice if the OP could enlighten us more about what he used to make his prediction.
Having said that, the ban of Bitcoin by the government seems to be out of the picture ever since the institutional investor join crypto investment but the Bitcoin ban still experiences a ban in third and fourth world countries.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on exchange tokens? on: March 14, 2021, 03:39:19 PM
I'm keen to know what the general consensus is on the value and utility of all the tokens that exchanges and crypto portals release.
Cryptocurrency is a broad venture and no consensus is needed for a token to be created on listed on an exchange, what the token team need is to have the exchange requirement and their token will be listed.

Are there too many of them in the market?

Yes, there are in spite that crypto market is broad and new token project are abusing the capacity of the market.

Or is there an obvious market need that such tokens serve?
The market needs the service offered by some token but 95% of all the token we have in the market are copycat.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why new projects/ coins do not have ANN on bitcointalk ? on: March 13, 2021, 08:07:30 PM
During those times when most new crypto related project created their ANN thread on this forum, if you can check back in details you'll see that it, not every new project that has their ANN thread on this forum. However, the purpose of the ANN thread is for a new project to introduce themselves to the crypto community in other to gain more publicity and if they have already gained that there's no need for an ANN thread.

189  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTC lottery on: March 13, 2021, 05:52:26 PM
Hi there.
Long ago in a galaxy far away I made a BTC lottery for my customer (the BTC price was approx 180 USD). The idea was simple and used by almost all BTC lotteries in those galaxy. You bet for numbers in the next chain. There was a jackpot as well. The project ran on production but few (5+) years ago it disappeared. At the moment I still have a working code without any obligations to customer. Are there anyone want to deploy it?

You should give us the information and a sample of your BTC lottery what you had was five years ago and it might not be relevant today, it's better that we see a sample if you are going to sell it and coders can check the code for vulnerabilities of the script.
I guess the OP is introducing is the lottery where people have to guess the block number that will be mine at a certain time since it's something that has to with betting numbers in the next chain. But, none of the cryptocurrency projects I know flourish, they all disappear at some point while the investors counted their losses.
I guess crypto enthusiasts focus more on trading, speculation, investment, and other forms of gambling (which lottery is precluded).
190  Other / Meta / Re: Why can merit decrease ?.......... on: March 13, 2021, 04:54:16 PM
Why can merit decrease ?,
That's how the forum moderator created it, it cant be decreased or undone but for the amount of the monthly smerit giving to the forum merit source can be decrease.

and who can take away?
Probably theymos but I don't think he will like to cause the merit rules are set already and it shouldn't be broken.

Someone took one from me.
Merit is sent independently and it not possible for someone to take one from you without your account been hacked.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 12, 2021, 09:44:20 PM
new rumors and speculations about Christian Pulisic (fc chelsea) and Achraf Hakimi (inter milan)

Quote
Christian Pulisic appears to be unhappy with his current situation at Chelsea. According to a Daily Mail report, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Liverpool are monitoring the situation as Pulisic is toying with leaving the Blues. The US men's national team captain has played just 134 of 810 possible minutes since Thomas Tuchel became the head coach in January.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-pulisic-unhappy-at-chelsea-bayern-man-united-amp-lfc-monitor-situation/view/news/381669
according to mail Chelsea is looking at Bayern Munich's 24yo France winger Coman to be their potential replacement for Pulisic after the 22yo United States international hinted that he is unhappy with the minutes he gets at Chelsea and he wants to leave.
Chelsea alongside Manchester United are in talks with Mino Raiola for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma' the 22yo Italy international have his contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer.
I don't think Kingsley Coman will the Bayern Munich now maybe in the future because he seems to believe his future is bright at Bayern and Manchester United once make a deal move for him which I think doesn't work out.
Aside from that, Christian Pulisic wasn't happy in Chelsea because he seems not to be wanted under Thomas Tuchel's management.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 12, 2021, 09:14:08 PM
There are 12 more matches ahead. And the team that scores the most points in these matches will win LaLiga. Barcelona has more chances than Real Madrid. And it is important for Atletico Madrid not to lose in the confrontation with Barcelona.

Well, Real Madrid has all the material to take advantage of these games, by the way, do you know CR7's return to Real Madrid? There is a lot of speculation about it, I have seen it on tv about the future of Messi and Ronaldo, if so I am going to have a few beers when Real Madrid vs Barcelona play, especially CR7 vs Messi, some Real Madrid fans are very excited.

I could also read it here:Juve's Cristiano Ronaldo would be ready to return to Real Madrid
Honestly, I don't see Barcelona having more chance than Real Madrid to win the LaLiga ever since their defeat to Atletico but this a game of football since everything is possible but Madrid is facing a weak opponent in their tomorrow game.
Having said that, I also read the rumor about Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Madrid but the truth will surface soon cause he once regrets leaving the club in the first place.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fate or lack of control - Gambling on: March 12, 2021, 08:55:52 PM
Some used to pacify themselves with the term it is their fate to loss in gambling. Some say it is the lack of control that makes them loss big. Here I'm taking this into discussion relative to the game - Dice.

Same as this some used to mention winning as fate and some term the same as luck. I believe win out of dice is trick, and right exit strategy.
Judging by gambling to be a game of chance, losing in gambling is fate and it not fate either because there are some gambling that requires skills before ones can win the game while some are totally out of luck but losing big in gambling is definitely a lack of control and understand gambling concept.

What is the truth in this regard, because users like me are always go lack of control even when luck is on our side. End of the day used to pacify thyself terming it as our fate and move on. Hope you guys don't do this mistake. Cry Cry
If lack control of yourself even when luck is on your side I think gambling occasionally is what suitable for you so you won't be addicted or spend more than you can afford to lose.
194  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: March 12, 2021, 07:55:46 PM

Footing the current price of the market the 10BTC is not even a million dollars and speaking of some Bitcoin millionaire lurking around the forum or once make a contribution in the forum at some point, I believe there are some Bitcoin millionaires among the wall observer poster cause they seems to be serious investors.
Why would anybody feel the need to donate to this forum? I am happy for those that want to donate but right now 1 BTC = $56,000 so no matter how many BTC somebody has what would be their logic for donating to this forum or any other forum? What would they achieve and what would the forum treasurers do with those funds? There was a time when donations were asked for and donations maybe were needed but when I look at benefits of donating versus not donating - there is not much reason for anybody to donate.

Well, why do people donate to things like crowdfunding? Often there's rewards and benefits and people are suggesting donating will come with the benefits of higher ranks like Senior and Hero etc. Theymos has said in the past that the forum doesn't need any more money, but even if the forum doesn't need the money it could be given to charity or something.
Absolutely and aside the charity funding. Theymos is know for been a responsible person and I believe the fund donated will be use for something meaningful probably something that the crypto community will somehow benefit from it despite the fact that theymos once confirmed the forum don't need the money cause Bitcoin network still need some better solution before the total 21 million coin are mine.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 12, 2021, 11:21:38 AM
as predicted that Federer will be able to beat Evan but this time Evan is able to get one set, Federer's experience and quality is not in doubt if he loses in the next round it is likely just due to the stamina factor.

Another match of top seeds in this tournament Thiem vs Augut, their last meet was 2018 and Thiem was able to win, it will be a tough match for him.

Yeah its going to take a few matches and tournaments for Federer to get back to 100% match fitness. Its ok to train and build up from training but its not like playing matches. I think Federer will be using this tournaments to build towards the Olympics as he will be aiming for that singles gold medal which is one title he doesn't have currently. It was great to see him back playing again and we hope that he can do well this year and get back to being a top ranked player again.
I believe Federer is a born to play tennis player due to his performance in the Doha game against Evans in spite that he undergoes rehab from two knee surgeries which literally making him not playing the game at his best, he still defeated Evans. Also, believe it will take some time before to recover 20% but we have seen another different case though due to how he played against Evans
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: March 11, 2021, 11:18:22 PM
I haven't received much payment in my signature campaign so right now my plan is to hodl the bitcoin that I will receive as it is at most a trickle amount and I don't think that gambling it or spending it on anything is going to be worth it. Maybe when I get enough bitcoin, I might go and buy a new phone or something that isn't worth a lot of money but is worth buying.
it doesn't matter  How much you are receiving because that is rate in Bitcoin so the best to HODL for long term .

I have vested half of my Payments in Bitcoin for 6 months now and have lost in gambling the next half  Grin

But either way i am happy having them both as i enjoy gambling and i enjoy holding .
@Kittygalore, the amount you earn through the current campaign does not matter, whats important is how you manage your earnings at the end of each week and you will be surprised if you manage your earning well the amount of Bitcoin you hold in USD will even surpass user that earn more than you.
@kotajikikox, let's be frank no gambler lost the game and feels happy about it.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Atomic Swaps or Decentralized Exchanges? on: March 11, 2021, 09:32:35 PM
Which atomic swap service is the best out there that allows you to sell your popular common crypto's for dai?

Are decentralized exchanges same as atomic swaps?
Decentralized exchange out there are totally not the same as atomic swap/Binance Dex cause DEX exchange allow people to perform exchange of crypto currency without surrender the control of crypto to any exchange or swap service provider which is not what atomic swap executes.

Do both of these services have to comply with tax regulations and KYC? If not then can governments ban them or shut them down?
No, they (genuine decentralized exchange) operate independently.

Which is the best decentralized exchange out there?
Uniswap
Mdex
Pancakeswap
Vitex
You can check coingecko for there list

Theres earlier posts in this thread that say DEX's are Atomic Swaps because DEX use Atomic Swap service but now you mentioned they are both different services  Huh

Just to confirm Atomic Swaps are Centralized or Decentralized?
Now I understand what you are because the question you asked on the is so confusing cause we have a wallet called atomic swap which is custodial wallet and I thought you're referring to the wallet when you said "Are decentralized exchanges same as atomic swaps?" so you need to clarify your statement or else people will still misunderstand you.
Atomic swap is the method used by DEX to perform there exchange activities and it does not support centralization.

198  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We should build a seastead on: March 11, 2021, 08:27:19 PM
Bir Tawil (aka water well) shouldn't be see as an interesting location cause it is a deserted territory with just sand, mountains and no water that's the reason why it was not claimed by Sudan or Egypt.
I think British Virgin Islands, Zimbabwe and Liberland could be the best place part with sovereignty.

Has anyone bothered to properly search for water, though?

And there's more to it than that, whichever country would decide to lay claim on Bir Tawil would have to forfeit claim over the more attractive and larger Hala'ib Triangle.
According to what I have read a well was once dug inside the Bir Tawil which I believe the well name was the reason why the place is called Bir Tawil but no one seems to currently know where the well is or what happened to it probably the well was filled by sand through simoom since the area is mostly sand or dry mountains and there's no actual road.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When do you expect the Altcoin rally? on: March 11, 2021, 06:39:24 PM
Altcoin rally happens by itself for now I see altcoins can go up by themselves without the need for full btc help I know the price of btc will affect altcoins but not entirely.
Altcoin rally doesn't happen by itself cause it precisely happens footing market (traders/investors) decision and this current altcoin rally happen through the help of Bitcoin cause Bitcoin market usually help cryptocurrency market to gain outstanding traffic whenever it halving. However, the momentum and greenish price of Bitcoin during the total lockdown when every market setting was experiencing a dump in price is the reason why most altcoins gained institutional investor's affection.
It all lies in the hands of investors, if they don't have a huge interest in altcoins, we don't expect to see Altcoins will have the rally.

As for now, investors are investing more in Bitcoin a reason why the price remains high while altcoins still at low. But I was not hopeless not to think that altcoins will have some rise. Patience, coz I know that someday these investors will soon consider and sees altcoins potentials. It is just a matter of time that Bitcoin is really hot, a lot of people expecting then than altcoins.
It doesn't depend on the investor's hand mate, it depends on the market supply and demand with the support of the market season. Ask yourself why did cryptocurrency market always experience outstanding traffic after Bitcoin halving?
The investors and traders focus more on Bitcoin because it's the major patronage coin when it total bullish market though some potential altcoin sometimes follows the Bitcoin market trend.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "What happens if bitcoin succeeds?" on: March 11, 2021, 02:43:55 PM
I agreed with John Danielsson because there will never total equality in this world and it will be nice if we face this fact and don't lie to ourselves cause only people who make proper use of the opportunities around them will thrive not only in Bitcoin investment but in all investment setting.
Bitcoin will never equalize fiat currency because Bitcoin posed the innovation, potential, liberation, and opportunity every other currency cannot pose.
